IT’S OCTOBER ALREADY
It's well past time for a life update--I have been pretty much away from here for a long time but I have been thinking of y'all often. So glad to see so many familiar faces around here! The site definitely looks different, but I am glad that the functionality is back.
I tried to check in earlier in the summer, but that happened to be about 1 week after the forums went down. Whoops.
Life update? If you would like. A lot has happened. I graduated in May, got married in June, and started grad school this semester. My degree and my grad program are both English Literature, but my main studies are in Game Studies, particularly in physical spaces--board games, card games, etc. (I pretty much directly attribute this to the many hours of Mafia that I have played on this forum; the weird hybrid of physical and digital games that those are is fascinating to me).
The past four years or so have definitely had some rough times too, but overall things are pretty good from over here.
Well that's all I can think of at the moment. AMA if you want to.
What's up in your life? How have y'all been doing?
I am just really terrible at blogging. Geez.
Study Abroad almost over, only a month left. Currently in Stuttgart for the end of fall break.
It's wet and cold and really cool.
Hope you all are doing well. Hopefully I'll be able to actually be a thing again during Christmas Break.
So, I'm totally supposed to be working on a final for my summer classes right now. But I don't want to. So here I am.
I'm finishing up my first year at college now, basically. Had a fantastic time! Met a lot of great people, did a lot of fun things. It was really great! It took up a lot of my time, though, unfortunately.
While there I started taking Swing Dancing lessons and now I can swing, which is so much fun. I really enjoy it a ton, although there's not a good place for me to swing where I live, so I'm going to get really out of practice this summer. It's pretty great though!
My department is like the best group of people ever, and they're all such a joy to be around. I miss 'em a lot.
My now-girlfriend and I dropped the hottest mixtape of the year on Dead Day, which was hilarious and a ton of fun!
As well, I get to go study abroad in Oxford(thank you scholarships!) all of next semester, so that is super hype! Five of my best friends are coming too, so we're going to have a grand ol' time.
So, yeah! This summer is basically just preparing for Oxford! Hopefully I'll be around more often, but I'm not sure. We'll see if I can keep the guilt away when I forget to check after a while! =P
How're y'all doing?
Today was my 6 year bzp anniversary.
how silly is that?
Like seriously I joined this site as a silly 13 year old.
and it's been six years
(11:56 in my time zone, so this is actually correct, haha)
I once again forgot to change my name to Protalgift for the holiday season
I REALLY WISH I DIDN'T AVOID TRAILERS RIGHT NOW AHHH
STAR WARS GUYS
Dawn of the Final Day
They looked at each other, the three Matoran left, and the reality of the situation began to sink in. It was here, it was now that would define the end of the Silence. It was through this final moment that they would decide if they had a right to live or not.
The air was growing chill, and it felt as if life itself was vacating the building. As they looked at each other, confusion and uncertainty in their eyes, they began to understand the direness of their situation. From the open door, billows of fog began to seep into the room at alarming speeds.
The Matoran all looked at it in shock, wondering just what it was and where it was coming from. It quickly enveloped the room, making it hard to see anything. Suddenly, Toa Chuck took off running out of the room, leaving fishers and Doorman in his wake. Doorman looked over and pointed, and then they went. They were going to take down their enemies.
One the two got to the door, the hallway split. Unsure of which way Toa Chuck had gone, they motioned that they would split up, and off they ran.
Doorman took off to the left. He sprinted down the hall as quick as he could, trying to find the false Toa. He was going to find him, he would have to. He would not be the one to die this night, he was sure of it.
So it was that he ran down the hallways, checking every nook and cranny of the abbey. He would find the false Toa, he would have to! He checked door after door, looked in room after room. He saw overturned and destroyed desks, he saw blood stains where once there was none, but he did not see the false Toa.
Then, on his right, he saw the entrance to the basement. He glanced around, and then began a cautious descent into the basement.
Fishers had just seen the tail end of Toa Chuck turning the corner ahead through the fog. She sprinted after him, striving to catch up to the fast Matoran. He was so quick, but he could not run forever. The docks were gone, there was no way off the island. But, she had to end it now. While she could.
Chuck glanced backwards and saw the outline of the other Matoran gaining on him through the mist, and he whirled around and threw a nearby table with various candles on it down in her way, without breaking stride. Fishers barely leaped over it, and continued in her pursuit as fast as she could.
She would catch him. She knew it!
Doorman slowly descended into the dank underground room. He looked around, searching for any movement at all, when something caught his eye. A sparkle, a bright glow through the mists in this dark basement. He rushed over to it, and found a silver sword, lying forgotten on the floor. Suddenly, things began to fall into place...
They weren’t up against a Matoran. They were up against a Demon.
Swiftly, he scooped up the sacred weapon, holding it in his hand for a quick second. It felt balanced, it felt right.
The light flashed on the sword as Doorman flailed it around for a moment, before he dropped it in shock as he heard the tale-tell whisper of the killer. She must have found the false Toa, she must have found Toa Chuck.
He reached down and grabbed the sword once again, and took off towards the source of the whispering. He now had the tools to end this. He could now kill Barshai. The Demon was going to die, and tonight.
He skidded down the hallway, and he saw a welcome sight in front of him. Fishers was not dead yet! She stood facing him, with a small shard of glass in her hand, seemingly using it as a weapon. Toa Chuck stood opposite, with his back to Doorman, swaying slightly. They were in a standoff.
Without hesitation, Doorman took off running down the hall, with the Sacred Sword in hand. If anybody could hear him, they would hear his scream of rage as he sprinted to the Matoran. He was going to kill him! He was going to kill the Demon!
He was almost in striking range when Toa Chuck began to collapse, swaying more intensely now. The power of the Sword is too much for him! Doorman thought, Now is the time to strike!
With another almighty warcry, if it could have been heard, Doorman leapt towards the false Toa, thrusting the silver sword forward in a radiant flash. It cut right through the false Toa, whose blood then splattered the ground as he fell to the side.
Doorman yanked the sword out of the false Toa’s body with pride, when suddenly the Silence ended, and a wave of sound crashed over him. Every sound of the last 11 days suddenly assaulted his eardrums, causing him to collapse under the weight of this cacophony.
It felt like an eternity, there on the hard ground, suddenly catching up to almost two weeks worth of sounds. It was chaos, it was pure pain. It was heavenly, a pain that Doorman was glad to have. It meant that he had succeeded. That they had succeeded. Eventually, he slowly began to sit up.
Toa Chuck’s body was still on the ground, the final causality in this mess of a war. The last blood to be spilt in the Scarlet Abbey. Doorman leaned against the cold wall, thankful to be done. Thankful that it was all over. They had won.
“It’s over...” he whispered to himself, just to hear his own voice. “It’s over...”
“Yeah.” Fishers said, sitting up from across the body of the false Toa. A pool of blood was slowly seeping out towards the edges of the halls. They both slowly stood to their feet, and stood for a moment in silence.
No, not silence. They stood, listening to the sounds of wind whistling through the open windows. They listened to the soothing march of the light drizzle outside. They listened to the birds chirp, to the chatter of squirrels. They listened to everything that they had missed these past weeks.
Finally, Fishers broke the almost-silence. “So, what do we do now?
Doorman looked out the window. “Maybe we leave? What else is there here but memories of bloodshed?”
“I don’t know.” Fishers said. “I think you are forgetting something, though.”
“What could I possibly be forgetting?” Doorman replied as he turned around to look at Fishers. Instead of seeing the familiar Ko-Matoran standing behind him, though he saw something else. Something malicious. Something... demonic.
“You forgot...” said the almost-Fishers. “That I voted for you.”
She lashed forwards and grabbed the sides of Doorman’s head. With a sickening crunch that she had missed while in the Silence, she snapped his neck violently. One more body to add to the casualties. Yet another taste of revenge.
The body of Fishers fell to the floor, and another being entirely stepped out of the now empty shell. Barshai grinned, looking at the mayhem in this hall. It had done it. It had killed every one of them.
It basked for a moment in it’s success, then turned and left. The only thing it left behind was an abandoned abbey, now stained Scarlet.
Toa Chuck(Matoran) Killed by Barshai, the Demon (he was dead before Doorman showed up!)
Barshai, the Demon (Siren): Choose a word. Every round, that word can be used in a conversation to anybody around BZPower. That player will die during the day round, and their vote will no longer count. Word chosen this time was “Possible”.
Good game, everybody! I hope to have some behind the scenes information and lessons learned from the game ready to post soon. I guess we will see. Thanks so much for playing, I hope you enjoyed it!
aight so a real quick blog post because of urg the big ole life decisions. This is more for my sake than for actually getting y'all to read this but whatever
so I'm going to college in the fall, thus I've been applying to schools and such. I'm, uh, pretty good at school I guess? And so I just got a letter today. I never thought that getting a letter saying that you got money would make me so freaked out.
So basically I spent this last weekend at my number one school, that we will call school A for the purposes of this blog post. School A is where my grandparents taught, and is within 5 minutes from where my grandfather and my aunt live. It's been my top choice for a while, because not only do I have family there, but I really like the faculty and the programs and the like. I was honored to get the highest possible scholarship that they got, which is half tuition for four years. A pretty good deal, for a private college.
I've got a friend who may go to this school, and overall the only thing really keeping me from this school is the sheer amount of money. For a guy who is planning on getting a doctorate, this whole money situation is more than four years of school.
Now we look at college B. College B was my safe school, one for me to go to if we just can't afford for me to go to school A. I thought it looked like an alright school, but I have yet to visit it. I did, however, think that it looked pretty good when researching it, which is why I applied.
I got a letter sometime in the past 4 days or so, the days I was out of town at college A, from college B. College B is offering me, basically, a full ride and then a little bit. They are almost paying me to come there. Now, that was kinda the goal in the first place, but it also came with a requirement. I would have to commit to going to college B by the 6th in order to receive this money. In other words, I suddenly have just a little more than two weeks to decide colleges and I'm kinda freaking out over here.
I would much rather go to college A, atm, but if college B is going to help get me financially to the next level...
So now I am planning a trip to college b, and will likely have to make the three hour trip alone, because both of my parents are pretty much wrapped up until about the 8th.
Things just got super real and i dont like it very much basically and man oh man .-.
CONTACT LENSES FEEL WEIRD ON MY EYEBALLS
You may want to avert your eyes.
Show week started last night. So I won't be around here as much as normal.
We're going to need these practices, let me tell you.
What are you all doing this week?
today I learned that NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month.
I've probably called it National November Writing Month for ~5 years now.
I, too, am doing NaNo this year.
Will be working on a compilation of everything that I should have finished writing by now(looking at you, Mafia II: Electric Boogaloo and [REDACTED]), as well as writing a first draft of a stageplay.
It'll be pretty fun.
Going as Tavahka, so you should add me so you can tell me to kick my butt into gear.
I will be there on Saturday, and possibly Sunday. So, if you see a sorta nerdy looking guy walking around in a red BZP shirt you should say hi.
man I can't even wait
(also I brought hats for if i come sunday. jus' sayin')
So. Funny story.
I was given the keys to my dad's truck yesterday, with the intent to move it from way out in the parking lot to in front of the building the rest of my family was in. It seemed like a little thing, no big deal. I had to move it maybe a hundred feet, and the parking lot was pretty much empty already. So I walked up to the truck, confident that this wasn't going to be anything noteworthy.
Of course, if it wasn't noteworthy I wouldn't be writing about it, would I?
Have you ever had one of those days where you just don't feel like yourself? Maybe you feel a little sick, you are just tired beyond belief, or you just aren't quite right. Well, yesterday was one of those days. Why I felt so bad, I had no idea, but I didn't feel particularly myself. In many ways, I was moving the truck to try and make myself feel better and more like me.
So I got to the truck, opened the door, and slid into the drivers' seat. In an instant I begin my process to prepare to drive. I buckle my seat belt, I check all the mirrors and adjust as necessary, I look all around to see what I would have to avoid and I don't see anything special to avoid.
Easy. I think as I put the truck into drive. I immediately start rolling backwards when I let go of the brake, and I can't turn the steering wheel at all for some reason. I step on the brake quickly, and begin looking around for explanation. This was only my second time behind the wheel of the truck, so I began looking for a parking brake or the like, thinking that it would help with the wheel.
After a few minutes of searching, I see my dad walking up with a very confused look on his face. I open the door, and ask him where the parking brake is.
He looks at me for a long moment and then asks "You haven't turned it on yet, why would you need the parking brake?"
I look back down at the steering wheel, and see that I had only inserted the key and turned on the radio.
I shifted back into park, and I turn the truck on successfully this time. I was getting frustrated at this point, so I tapped the gas, but I don't get anywhere with it. I look around, searching for answers, and I found out that I forgot something else.
I had put the truck in park again.
I joined everyone else with this Dungeons and Dragons thing. Obviously I shouldn't have been a cleric, because my wisdom is barely above average, while my intelligence is so high, but whatever. xD
I tried to be as honest as possible throughout it, as well. So here you go. Lawful Good Elf Cleric (1st Level)
Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment when it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.
Elves are known for their poetry, song, and magical arts, but when danger threatens they show great skill with weapons and strategy. Elves can live to be over 700 years old and, by human standards, are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. Elves are slim and stand 4.5 to 5.5 feet tall. They have no facial or body hair, prefer comfortable clothes, and possess unearthly grace. Many others races find them hauntingly beautiful.
Clerics- Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

I got my package today from JMJ's November Raffle, and boy was I surprised.
Look at my loots! =D
Not only did he promptly send the prizes as soon as the holidays were over, but he also put a Series 11 Minifigure(Scientist btw) and a $15 Lego Store Card in it.
Like, my goodness. This is amazing.
Here's another thank you, JMJ, because this certainly was a fantastic surprise today. =D
In this game... Well the villagers sucked.
That is about all.
We can finish up the next side-game discussion here, I would think. =P
As if this game needed one. xD
Honestly I am just doing this one because of tradition. *shrug*
Super late edition! In this game half of the players died in the first round, I tried to play mind games with toa robot and utterly failed, and idunno other things happened?
(warning: the following includes excessive amounts of ranting, and an exceeding lack of spellcheck or revision. You have been warned.)
Supposedly, right now, I should be on stage. We should be performing this play that we have spent the past three months perfecting. However, a couple of inches of snow came in yesterday, and this, being Oklahoma, means that everyone starts flipping out.
The roads were clear by 9 o'clock this morning, and every.
of the group is ready to perform the play and brave the weather. Except for one of the core cast members father, who refuses to let him out of the house to do this. As such, my dad is in the other room, cramming to learn this other guys lines.
And that makes me flipping mad. So now it looks like we will just have one performance tomorrow, and this core piece of the play won't even be able to be there, it seems. And why? Because of stupid stereotypical homeschool parents and their overreacting and refusal to change their plans.
I kid you not, I am so mad right now. This is about as angry as I have ever been. This stupid pigheaded meanie(lol keeping it suitable for BZP) of a father better hope he never meets me, because I am very mad and I will likely yell at him and in general be a meanie. Because he was one first.
so, yeah. wow. at times like this I realize just how silly people can be.
Okay, so wow. That was a really emotional ending for me for some reason. =P
So, yeah. Burnmad was always horrible at choosing who was guilty, and so much stuff happened oh my goodness. Thank you all so much for making this game a great one! You all are awesome. =3
Quick comment here: OH MY GOODNESS SO MUCH FORESHADOWING HERE WITHOUT MEANING TO.
Come play BIONICLE Mafia VIII: The Sound of Darkness with us! We have two more slots available, so come quick before you are left in the cold! =P
(This is the best I can do on mobile lol)
