    Imma going to answer you here because I don't want to spam that thread. DotA stands for defense of the Ancients, which was a moderator for Warcraft 3. It was so popular that Valve bought it and made a second one, which is called Dota 2. It is a competitive strategy game, I guess? Some people call it a MOBA, but I don't like that acronym. It is free to play on steam, as well.
