  1. Given there's not that many people active in that section you might have more luck on ebay, but you could always try both if you want to know for sure.
  2. I haven't played it for ages so I can't say how it holds up today, but I think it's safe to say it's probably the nearest any Bionicle console game got to being very good. It's a shame the game is largely non-canon; I guess the fact that the 2006 story only had seven bad individuals instead of the huge swarms seen in other years required bringing in the swarm villains from other years to provide enough enemies to make for busy enough levels, at cost to the story.
  3. Those lines had only existed in the very two years before Bionicle started, so constraction in general then was unlike anything Lego had made before. Plus Bionicle Toa sets featured mask and tool pieces that Slizers didn't have.
  4. If you have no actual use for them now or in the near future, they might as well go to somebody who does have. There's no point in them sitting there in a container gathering dust until you make the same decision in five, ten or twenty years. And as it's only been a few years since they came along and it doesn't sound like you've done very much with them, I don't think you'll miss them as much as you might think, or perhaps even miss them at all.
  5. Man, topics like this have been a tradition since at least 2010. I remember concerns in about 2013, but they were mostly about drops in activity. It's only been in the last few years that people have been talking about the site dying, though maybe they just mean less activity rather than the site actually closing. I remember 2010 to 12 as still solidly active, seeing as Bionicle had only ended recently and Hero Factory provided at least something new in the constraction world to talk about, whereas now we have pretty much nothing new at all.
  6. Wales isn't "under English rule" - it's actually had its own government (through devolution) for almost twenty years, and it's part of the United Kingdom as a whole. The lack of anything explicitly Welsh on the UK flag is (I think) due to the red cross being the flag of 'England and Wales' (as the land was prior to the late addition of Scotland) rather than just England. Why do they share a flag if they have equal placement? Remember that the Norman-English conquered the Welsh (with many rebels barring solidified rule). Red cross of St. George has been used by the English ever since they adopted it by paying the former Republic of Genoa for their usage (if memory serves me right, the English crown still pays to use this out of tradition). Other than the old common Christian faith that the white and red cross flag is rooted in, the only reason why the Cymru would use it is because the English use it. I think they may not want to change the flag because it is like a brand, and is a reminder of old Imperial times. Just in case you don't know, the Welsh do have their own unique flag, it's just that it isn't incorporated into the UK flag, for one reason or another. Maybe that's not fair, but the UK flag is just a bit too established to be changed now. The claim about the English flag coming from Genoa isn't historically certain; the exact origin of the flag isn't known for sure.

  8. Is it just me or have topics on this become a bit of a tradition since 2015? Well, a forum can only stay busy for so long when its main subject matter has been dead for years (yes it came back, but not for long enough and perhaps not prominently enough to make much difference). Add in people moving on with their lives and interests as they get older and the established membership isn't going to be here forever (or at least not here in the same numbers or at the same rate they once were). And then there's the rise of social media that plenty has already been said about. Still, I think it's an accomplishment that we're still seeing at least some activity after so long; as Aanchir said that's better than some other Lego forums out there.
  9. Haven't played it in years but I'm pretty sure there weren't any other Bionicle characters or references. It didn't make sense to include many as Backlot was based on System products rather than constraction/Technic. And Takua was depicted as a Tohunga (or McToran) because those were the forms the Matoran were still in at that point in Bionicle. Perhaps oddly, his name is given as George rather than Takua and the Tales of the Tohunga colour scheme was used (yellow body and red legs) rather than the MNOLG one (red body and yellow legs).
  10. It obviously was a success to some extent, at least the first half, but it could arguably have done better than it did. I think the problem was that the 'extra' characters and other such content were mostly confined to the books, but after about 2005 the main story also became confined to the books, and to understand the books you had to know about all the extra stuff they featured, so you kind of did have to know all the extra stuff to understand the story. It was like how Star Wars would be if the movies' story was only found within the 'expanded universe' content - all a bit too much to take in at once.
  11. Shakespeare didn't create Hamlet the story; that goes back centuries to a Scandinavian myth. It isn't clear whether he was the first to turn the story into a play as references to a Hamlet play show up in a few texts years before the earliest Hamlet play definitely attributed to Shakespeare appeared. The original play was either an early version by Shakespeare himself or one by another writer that Shakepeare then adapted.
  12. I would've liked one consistent deisgn for all or most Matoran, and for the forms of characters who changed/transformed to resemble each other a bit more (the 2008 Phantoka/Mistika forms of the Toa Nuva being the primary example).
  13. I agree, and there were a few bits of advanced technology in the Mata Nui setting, most of them in Onu-Koro. The Metru Nui story could've been told in a much less advanced city and still have worked, though some things like the Toa travelling through the chutes and the huge vehicle they later ride in would have to be changed or dropped. The hero Toa Metru sets were the first half of the year sets, and the villain Nidhiki, Krekka and Vahki sets weren't released until the year's second half. So if the Toa were going to have an enemy in the early stages of the Metru Nui story, it couldn't be a set. I always thought it was a great shame there was never a Metru Nui Online game.
  14. Why? Are you able to reach the pillars with the Koli balls and they're not shattering, or is the Jaga blocking them before they get there? If it's the second, then, as Kopekemaster said, you need to make sure you hold the mouse click for a few seconds to make the shot go faster as that's pretty much the only way to do it.
  15. Really? Well at least it's buried to the point the Wayback Machine can't find it. I hope. Somehow, I doubt very many people are manically searching for it.
  16. Yes it was there, just pointing out that it generally didn't go very far. Huki and Maku almost kissing in the Ga-Koro Bohrok episodes is about the furthest it went. No, it shouldn't. It might've been interesting to see where a romance in Bionicle, in which some standard aspects of life/love aren't there, might have gone instead. He also wasn't exactly 'destroyed', just deceased for a while. Okay, though a character (male or female) can have a romantic plotline and still do other important stuff as well.
  17. Yes, though the word 'love' wasn't used in them, nor was anyone ever officially together or dating. It isn't love in general that isn't canon, it's a type of it (romantic love). From what? Being single?
  18. Whilst I suppose two Bionicle beings living together isn't impossible, it wasn't something that was generally depicted. People (namely Matoran) were generally shown as living in large groups or whole communities rather than as couples or family units. Sidorak and Roodaka are perhaps the closest thing to a 'couple' (though being evil villains, love was never something they were going to be depicted as sharing). Just to be clear, I'm not trying to offend anyone here or claim that romance has to lead to marriage or children to be valid. But being able to marry is something that people consider important as an aspect of fully validating their love - why else would there have been such a push in recent years for same-sex couples to be able to marry if marriage didn't play a significant part in intimate relationships? And I'm sure many (if not all) couples who can't have children for whatever reason would probably choose to if they could, or at least would like to have the option to. There are things other than marriage and children that are associated with romance that Bionicle couldn't realistically include, such as sexual activity. My overall point is that if almost all the things that come with romance in real life aren't there in Bionicle, then romance becomes a bit of a dead end that doesn't add much to the story and doesn't have much of a case for inclusion. As I said above, it was quite possibly just a decision by the story team that he was complying with, whether he liked romance or not.
  19. Just to be clear, the 'dataclysm' was the loss of stuff from late 2008 to early 2009, not the leaving behind of the old board that happened in 2011.
  20. Such projects usually fall apart because most of the participants don't have enough technical skills to make them happen, and people tend to drift away if there's not a lot happening. Sadly, most projects don't get much beyond the concept/planning stage. The ending in early 2010 was meant to give the story closure; the serials after that were just a kind of separate bonus that didn't quite work out for practical reasons. I believe there were some technical problems with the old forum and the staff decided to start afresh with this board. The hackings happened a bit after that; around 2013 IIRC. I don't know much about the site's current condition, but I feel this version is doing well enough that it probably won't be closed due to anything technical.
  21. I think it depends on the nature of the reboot - if it's another 'six heroes arrive to save a beleaguered island' then it makes sense to reuse the original cast, though it might help to vary them a little in one way or another just to keep things a little fresh. If it's a different story premise, I'd be more interested in getting genuinely new characters. Yes, I do like the classic ones, but not to the point where they need to be in every story.
  22. If you were replying to me, I wasn't saying 200 posts a day was terrible in itself, I just used it to show that activity could and did drop even when the board was active and not simply because it went offline for a while. The board often struggles to get 100 (counted) posts a day now, judging by the "Today's Top Posters" percentages. I did all I could, ever since it hit me in June 2013 that things were dying down. I guess I could have done more. I respect all you did, and I don't think you could've done much more because the site is up against bigger problems than one person can take on alone. I think this post does a good job of summing up a lot of them. It's not just people with short attention spans; people in general are spending far more time on social networking than they did ten years ago and forum communities have inevitably suffered as a result. It's surely not hard to see why - on a forum you have to spend months or years making friends and building up an identity, on a social network you can have that pretty much instantly through your offline 'real' identity.
