  1. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "Understood Captain. Everything will be ready for departure when you return." Dehkaz got a quick but crisp salute as he vanished down the corridor. Normally such a brief interaction would get something closer to a wave. With a new recruit standing right there however it was time to set a tone for how the new Aggressors would be expected to act. So he turned back to Ember and finished the interrupted handshake. Stepping back to let the newly arrived De-Toa introduce himself. "That would be correct. We aren't exactly a traditional military unit so I wont expect you to be saluting and signing paperwork in triplicate like the Ta-koro Guard. The chain of command is still in place though."
  2. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "And that is why we recruit from all over Mata Nui. Welcome aboard Aggressor Ember." The Fe-Toa stood and stepped forward to offer his hand to the old woman. Her observations about the nature of the ship's rigging was accurate. Their rope system was rather elaborate in order to let a smaller crew run a large ship. That lent itself to a certain degree of sloppiness on the part of said crew however. When it felt almost like the ship sailed itself it was easy for things to slip without a stern hand to keep things in line. That was what he hoped that their newest recruit could provide.
  3. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "A job. You clearly know your way around a ship and we happen to spend an awful lot of time on one." There was a definite hint of wry amusement in his voice. "Our sailors are good but they could always be better and you have to be pretty good if the Marines hired you to teach their sailors how to do their jobs. I want you to do the same thing here. It's a paying job and you'd get to spend at least a couple weeks seeing what is like on our girl here." He finished up with a fond pat against one of the support beams near his head.
  4. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: The younger Toa looked at his companion for several long moments. They'd been talking long enough for him to get a feel for her personality. The old sailor definitely missed her time on the water. It was where she belonged. Extensive experience with two Guard forces pointed to at least some sense of civic responsibility. He did have to wonder why she had left both positions however. The fact that Ta-koro had hired her meant that any problems were not too bad. It was entirely possible that the climate hadn't agreed with someone so used to the salty ocean breeze. Emerald orbs fixed her with a calculating stare. Not aggressive or malicious. Rather the one wearing it was clearly taking her measure as he spoke his next words. "How would you like a job?"
  5. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "I can give you a rough overview. If you want many details then that's information you'll have to ask them for. Was there anyone in particular you wanted to ask about? I'm not sure what your actual question was." The younger man settled down on top of his own gear chest. He leaned forward and settled his elbows on his knees. Twin emerald orbs settling inquisitively on the old sailor across the room from him. Giving out information about his crew was an iffy thing. If he wasn't careful with whatever answers he gave then the personal secrets that crewmembers shared with each other might reach the ears of someone on the rather long list of people that might want to use it against them. Ember seemed like a good enough person. In fact he wouldn't mind hiring her to help run the ship. Even so, what she would get would be limited as long as she was only a curious onlooker.
  6. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "Probably the latter. A major part of our first refit was to rework the internals into something that could comfortably hold a crew of something other than Matoran. This latest refit was because we just kept finding new toys that we wanted to add and they all piled up until we had the time to properly work them into the design. By the time things settled down after Ko-koro there was so much new equipment on the list that it was easier to just rip everything out and put in better versions." They reached the end of the hallway and Kale opened a door on one side of the hall. It wasn't a massive room. Even on the Fowadi space was at a premium. The place was big enough for a fair number of people to stand comfortably within however. Rubber sealed chests lined the floor and walls. Some of them had names stenciled onto the hardwood planks. Others were blank. Presumably awaiting future members of the team.
  7. Kale Ironshaper - Po-wahi - Ostia - Fowadi IC: "I didn't grow up in a koro the same as everyone else. That might be why the death of the Turaga never hit me the same way it hit everyone else.I never grew to love them the same way those that they guided through an eon of darkness did. But I could see the way it impacted everyone else. It was like a piece of the island died that week. In bits and pieces as they news came in from everywhere else. It was like seeing the souls of all my friends be ripped away in bloody chunks." The Fe-Toa paused for a moment at an intersection. Memories almost visibly passing in front of his eyes as he patted the solid wood of the Fowadi. A small smile crossing his face and banishing the dark memories. "So I stayed on. Someone had to stand up and keep back the darkness. The Aggressors could travel the entire island. Go where was needed, fight Makuta and his servants wherever they appeared. It was the best fit for someone like me." He looked over at the older woman with a wider smile and gestured for her to follow him down the hallway to the ready room. "That's what we do here. Find evil and punch it in the face as many times as needed before it decides that we're too much trouble to deal with."
  8. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi "I wouldn't exactly call myself a veteran of the Guard but I've seen my fair share of scrapes both before and after joining up." He idly gestured towards the door and it opened itself at their approach. The motion was accompanied by a faint squeak that had the Fe-toa looking at the slightly rusty hinges in annoyance. Deciding to deal with it later he led the way into the bowls of the ship. Another hand gesture calling for the other toa to follow. "I'm the first mate. Joined up as the quartermaster before our mission to save Turaga Onewa. We succeeded. I can't comment on his safety after he left our care. In any case, I was promoted because I stuck around and was the member of the team that everyone else actually listened to. They can be a rambunctious bunch sometimes and can take off like a wild mahi cart if someone doesn't keep an eye on them."
  9. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi The smile that crossed his face as he looked up at the small person on top of his head was pure, undiluted, paternalistic pride. It was good seeing her getting along with everyone else. Especially if they were going to join the crew. Of course it wasn't decided that Ember was going to join the crew. That merely seemed like the way this day was going. Plus a veteran sailor would always be an asset on a ship like this. He turned towards the stairs leading down below decks. Keeping his head still directed towards the older woman as he moved and started speaking. "If you'll come with me I'll get us started on the tour while you two keep talking."
  10. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi The young toa looked upwards to where his now constant companion with obvious fondness. A soft smile settling across his face as he jiggled his head playfully. The small mask brought a feeling of levity and innocence to his life that he treasured. hopefully it was something she could retain through their time together. Whatever ended up happening he would have to make sure to teach her well. The world was a large and dangerous place after all. It needed all the hope it could get. "I've heard stories of other sentient masks before but Luten here seems to be in a class of her own. Those other masks also seemed somewhat more...fleshy." As he continued speaking his steam of flowing metal formed into a disk and hovered over the veteran seawoman. "I found her perched on the back of a merchant's cart during my last trip back home. Couldn't just leave her so I decided to ask her to be my mask. Haven't regretted it since."
  11. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi This was unexpected to say the least. Kale had neither met Dorian in the flesh but it was hard not to at least have a physical description considering who he spent so much of his time around. The roguish smile and Makuta-may-care attitude when combined with his element and bag full of high tech weaponry were a pretty big giveaway. Skyra had gotten drunk one night. It had been...interesting. Thankfully most of the rest of the crew had also been drunk so they probably didn't remember what each other had said. Kale certainly wasn't going to try and jog any memories. "That, ladies and gentlemen, was Dorian Shaddix. Renowned scoundrel and supposedly dead for months now. try not to bother him. Man looks like he needs friends more than fans." The young Fe-toa looked over towards where the other man had vanished into the bowels of the ship. He probably wasn't going to do anything drastic like rip the armor plates off the sides of the ship. Skyra could look after him... Krayn could look after him. A sigh escaped his lips as he turned back to the two newcomers. He had his own jobs to take care of and this seemed to be ones of those days where he was going to be on his feet for all of it. Best to get into it before things dragged out. Every new crew member meant more supplies that had to be procured. He needed to find out just how big their group would be. "Ember and...Tekmo? Welcome to the Fowadi, mobile base of the Aggressor task force. We are always looking for new members."
  12. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial A frown crossed over the tall toa's face as he searched his memory. Bounty hunters could be a mixed bag but this one had a solid reputation. She had brought in more than a few criminals who had managed to escape into the broader wahi. If he could help her track down these two he would gladly do so. Unfortunately he was also drawing a blank. "Sorry ma'am, nobody fitting those descriptions has come up on the Guard's radar recently. Where are you staying? If there's a sighting while you're in town I'll send you a runner."
  13. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi A handshake and shoulder slap greeted the itinerant Po-toa. It was always a pleasure to see the somewhat wanderhappy crewmate once more. If Kale held stuff like that against his friends he'd probably hate most of them by now. Aggressors had a tendency to wander off in search of more trouble the instant you let them out of your sight. So instead he looked forward to the times when they showed up out of the blue. Today seemed to be one of those times. "Welcome Sergeant Velliae. It's a pleasure to meet a veteran of two different Guard forces. What do you think of our ship?" Kale reached out a hand for the old seadog to shake. If she had still been in either Guard force he would have waited for her salute before returning one of his own. As a civilian he didn't need to worry about those formalities with her.
  14. Bring a Skakdi or Lesterin who remembers the route, sail in the correct direction.
  15. People's memories of the place have not come back yet. And from what I understand the two options to get there will be going through the gate from Mata Nui (not back though) or sailing there by ship.
  16. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi Another call rang through the ship. Kale looked through the side of the ship where his elemental abilities said that a pair of people were standing on the dock. One of them felt, and sounded, very familiar. "Busy day today. I'll leave you to get settled in Tirokk. It seems I have some more business to attend to. Feel free to mingle with the rest of the crew." The shorter Fe-toa flowed out of the room. The stream of metal constantly streaming around him following in his wake like some sort of billowing eddy. It didn't take long for him to arrive up on decks once more. A wide smile on his face and hands on his hips as he looked out at the duo standing at the foot of the gangplank. The flowing metal hovering around him rippling with his amusement. "Rynekk you dog! Where have you been?! Yes yes, come aboard and bring your friend with you."
  17. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial He was absolutely still going to put Jolek's name forward. Maybe an opening would pop up in the RRF. The younger man didn't need to know that yet. Best to let this latest distraction take his mind off of things for the time being. "Go ahead Ma'am. What seems to be the problem?"
  18. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi "This ship is designed to carry large things across the ocean. You'll have nothing to worry about while you are aboard her." Kale glanced over Tirokk one more time. Then at the footlocker that could slide beneath his assigned berth. "Are you don't have anything else.? No camping gear or the like? Space is limited but there's enough for you to bring some personal effect with you."
  19. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial Loren was silent for a several moments as he mulled over the younger man's words. They were important and deserved to have thought put into their answer. It was the least he could do for such a driven person. Jolek obviously wasn't happy with the doldrum of regular guard duty. That made sense. He was an energetic young toa that had grown up in an environment that almost required constant action just to survive. "It sounds like you aren't fitting in very well with the position of an ordinary patrol officer. It's an important job but what action they see is usually low level or extremely violent and extremely abrupt. It's a position that deserves respect, but..." Another pause as the De-toa rubbed his chin. "If I see an opening for a more active position I'll put your name forward. We all have our place in the Guard but sometimes it takes a bit of searching to find that place."
  20. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial An eyebrow raised at that. To say that it was laconic would be an understatement. "What about yourself are you having a problem with?"
  21. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial "That can happen when one's life slows down. Things stop moving at a breakneck pace and suddenly you have the chance to think over all your actions. Wonder if you did the right thing in a situation. What might have changed of you had done things a little bit differently. Or if your life is on the right path." It didn't seem like the other man was quite floundering but he could definitely do with a push forward. Something to get him unstuck from what was starting to look like a bit of a rut. "Sometimes second-guessing ourselves can be the right call. Occasionally it takes time and distance to admit that a mistake was made. Usually it's a sign that something else is wrong. We find a problem and second guess ourselves about how we got there. So tell me. What are you second-guessing yourself about?"
  22. IC: Loren - Ta-Koro - Lavapool Inn Memorial The lax nature of Jolek's response brought a smile to the older man's face. It seemed he had been correct in his estimation of how well the new Guardsman would fit into The Guard's ideas of proper procedure. Not that Loren could blame him for that. He cultivated a somewhat more relaxed air within his own little branch after all. It helped keep men and woman who were always on edge from losing that same edge. "I'm off duty. You can call me by name" At least as off duty as he ever got. "One could say that not having such to be nostalgic for is a good thing. Memories of the past are important. What we do here in the present is much more so." He turned to face the lean youth more fully. Some conversations required you to be able to see the other person properly. "Something is bothering you, Guardsman. What is it? Maybe I can help."
  23. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi Was that a hug? "Alright, what kind of combat do you specialize in?" They spoke on the move. Kale adding small asides as they entered various rooms. Pointing out various elements or doors that led to different rooms. The tour eventually concluding at one of the crew bunch rooms.
  24. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi The problem with having a voice in your head was that sometimes it spoke up when you were already doing something else. Which led to a rather confusing mental split similar to holding two conversations at the same time. Only even more distracting because one of them was bouncing around your brain. Only if you make sure to be extra careful. And don't shoot anything outside of practice without asking me first. These are not toys and bad things can happen if we aren't careful. Alright little one? Then back to the large man in front of him. It was obvious that there was some heavy history involved with his decision to take up arms. Kale could respect the desire to keep parts of one's history a secret. The Aggressors had a history of using people with questionable pasts and allowing them to pay off some of that debt. "What about since then? Any mercenary work or guard time?"
  25. IC: Kale Ironshaper - Ostia - Fowadi "You look like a juggernaut in that stuff." He felt like one too. Kale could feel the sheer mass of an already big man in even bigger armor. The design concepts involved were solid as well. "I look forward to seeing you in training. Where has life taken you. A man doesn't build armor like that without good reason."
