  1. This really does work a lot better as a tabletop game than a text based forum game. As it is, I'm starting to wonder if I should be worried about being eaten by a Grue. The world itself is pretty cool and very large, large enough that you should really get a co-gm to help you run the game. Player spread is a real issue if you can't actively give them all stuff to do. Something in particular that's been confusing me though. Toa's masks jump all the way up to Great Mask levels when they get transformed and their powers are only limited by practice and imagination, plus whether or not they have a mask on at the time. That's not really what's being described here.
  2. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Elevator is this way." Enough time had been spent talking, it was time to do. Tallea started walking towards where the elevator shaft would have crossed this level of the facility.
  3. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Agreed." Tallea said with a nod. Her head tilted to the side and had anyone been able to see under her helmet they would have seen a thoughtful look go across her face. "Atamai, do you think we could borrow a shipping container or a truck? We need some way to get Kilo here through the streets and the chutes are still what most people use to get around quickly."
  4. Talle - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: She couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. A bunch of Matoran riding on an illegal robotic enforcer's back. "I'll take the chutes, they are fast enough. Anyway, which disk should we go for next. I suggest the Po-Disk. That metru is close enough that we might be able to find it before any other searchers."
  5. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: Finding a Great Disk had been more exciting than expected. Although, with something as important as this she really should have been expecting something at least this difficult. They had it now so it was time to make some decisions. Preferably before her itch to run some experiments on the disk became unbearable. Oooooooh she'd love to figure out what might be possible with such a power item. "Tallea, kanokatech mechanic." She said in response to the question/command. Her gaze rested on the black disk within the krahli's sphere. I winder if it is capable of draining energy from the disk. The armored Matoran shook her head to clear the thoughts that were starting to buzz. Later, she could theorize all she wanted later. " Now what? There are other disks still out there. I don't know about the rest of your but I'm not convinced that Dume is going to give us all Toa Stones just from turning in a single disk."
  6. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Let's start with the krahli. If that doesn't work," She hefted the freeze kanoka from the ground. "This will be easier and faster than a pod."
  7. Every element gets really nasty as soon as you start applying it directly to another person's body. Basic RP courtesy is to not do so.
  8. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Um, I can't help but notice that his hands are fused to the disk. How are you planning on removing it from them. More importantly, how are you planning on removing the disk once you have it out of his grasp?"
  9. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: Perfect. There. Off on one wall was a row of empty pods. The Archives were too big to be completely filled...hopefully. The idea of something so big being entirely stuffed full of stuff was an unpleasant thought. It wasn't important right now though. "Cover me!" Tallea dropped her sparking cable and broke for the deactivated pods, dodging around one pitch colored creature and leaping over another. Upon reaching the first of the pods she slammed open the panel and flipped the switch before closing her eyes and listening for a second. The was the muffled clang of metal on metal and then the sound of ice rapidly forming on the other side of the metal cap. Inside the helmet a grin flashed across her face. Quickly flipping the switch back off she flipped another one that sent the electrical whine of machinery humming through the walls. As the pod started to smoothly extend on a set of rails the Vo-Matoran ran to several other pods and did the same thing, rushing back to the first as it finished extending. She didn't want the pod's cryofreeze ability. She wanted whatever it was that give it the ability to freeze things. It could have been several things, chemicals, thermal reductions fields, or what she hoped and guessed it was. Metru Nui was one of the largest manufacturers of kanoka disks in the known universe. Using a freeze disk would have been both effective and a lot cheaper than getting something from a place like Xia. So when she unlatched the maintenance hatch it was with no surprise that she saw the crimson face of a Ta-Metru disk peeking out from one side. Several clamps held it in place and she seriously considered just tearing them out for a moment. But they didn't look too hard to figure out and she really didn't want the creepy scorpiod ex-police robot getting on her case about property damage. Well, more property damage. It took a couple moments but she retrieved the disk in time to turn around and toss it into the face on an oncoming ichoroid thing. There was a snap and the thing was encased in a shell of ice several inches thick. With a grim nod she tugged the protodermic disk from it's frozen resting place and tossed it back towards the rest of the group.
  10. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: They had a rough location and just standing around like this wasn't going to help. There was a lot of this goo left and the only reasonably effective weapon against the group was limited to the Krahli. If they stayed they would eventually be overwhelmed and consumed just like that giant rahi. So the exosuited Matoran frantically glanced at the walls of the tunnel as she slammed her length of electrified metal into anything that came close. "Atamai! Do any of these pods use cryostasis?!" It was an inefficient method of suspending an organism's functions. At least according to modern methods. However Tallea knew that specimens were varied enough that occasionally the archivists must have run into something that responded better to being frozen than being placed in traditional stasis. If anything like that was in the area she might be able able to figure out a way to at least slow down the black sludge.
  11. Native tech is essentially unlimited as long as you can come up with a reason for the character to have the resources needed to get them. Foreign tech is the only place where the limitations come into play.
  12. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: Well this was certainly turning out to be one of the more interesting fights she'd ever been in. Most of the things Tallea had to deal with were more solid and less fluid. When combined with the seemingly infinite amount of permutations it was capable of adopting it presented an interesting challenge to face. It could be some sort of conjoined microorganism colony, but the existence of the flamethrower wielding crabs implied a greater understanding of complex organisms and weaponry than she'd have guessed something like that capable without specific education. Logically, that implied a mind more familiar with those concepts was directing the black substance "Can anyone see where these things are coming from?" She shouted over the din of battle while simultaneously sweeping her length of exposed wire in front of her. Over the course of the conflict much of protective rubber coating had ripped off, leaving her with something partway between a short whip and very wobbly pole. "We need to find whatever is directing this stuff and deal with it."
  13. Mangai was a team of eleven Toa. They've all been declared Persona Non Grata.
  14. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "If you can make your way through the cave-in, do so. Otherwise, get as far away from that thing as you can and throw me any loose pieces of equipment you can find." As she spoke Tallea's eyes were frantically darting around for anything she might be able to use. one thing in particular caught her eye. This deep down aesthetics were put to the side in favor of practicality. That meant things like utility lines weren't hidden behind nice looking panels . If something happened to one it would be easier to take care of it if the operation didn't include deconstructing part of the work zone. The particular thing that had caught her attention was the jagged yellow zigzag of a high voltage warning on a set of thick rubber cables running across the ceiling. Without the time to think up a proper plan she leapt over the next set of tentacles, her jump taking her high enough to grab the cable and pull. It came loose with a snap and a blinding flash. Tallea herself coming back to the ground accompanied by a flurry of sparks. Knowing the moments wasted could mean the difference between life and death, the armored Matoran stabbed the exposed end of the cable into the nearest piece of black chitin.
  15. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: The word that escaped Tallea's mouth at that moment was not ladylike. Not in the slightest. She was confident that she could fight off tentacles coming for them from one direction well enough. Or she had been until whatever this thing was had transmuted an entire rahi carcass into more of itself. She didn't the equipment for something like this. Given time and tools she'd be able to figure things out but at the moment she was restricted to punching stuff. Not a good match-up. Her backing up became something more like a reverse jog and she called out the only other member of the group who had managed to make it down. "RUN."
  16. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: If this had been a few years ago Tallea likely would have frozen in shock at the sudden horror coming for her in the dark. Possibly also while wondering at the miraculous nature of the thing that was killing her. this wasn't several years ago however. The Vo-Matoran had spent that time running from battlefront to battlefront. She was no stranger to sudden dangers or things trying to kill her. In fact she'd rather been expecting something like this. So when a tentacle tried to wrap itself around her ankle it was met with a gauntlet clad fist piledriving it into the ground. The impact activated the power forged into the armor, the material of the offending appendage cracked for half a moment before exploding from the overload of transferred momentum. Another slithering arm was slapped out of the air by the back of a hand as the armored Matoran danced backward. Well by the Barraki's conjoined left toenail. Things sure had gone to Karz in a hurry hadn't they. Tallea continued backing up as she punched and backhanded the hunting tendrils of whatever was trying to (probably) eat her. Each impact was accompanied by the sound of cracking chitin as the effects of her gauntlets combined with the enhanced strength of the armor to render such defenses less than effective. Eventually the creature would run out of tentacles to grab her with. She only hoped it would happen before she ran out of space. "Get behind me!" She yelled to Jutori
  17. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Let me go first." The scientist had been fairly quiet for this portion of the journey. Both out of a sense of caution from the less than less than friendly environs, and because she was trying her hardest not to be distracted by all the exhibits. Everything down here was so fascinating. Pieces of art and technology that made her mind whirl as she passed them. Sure this level was mostly rahi but even those held enough technical mysteries that Tallea would have loved to come here as an actual tourist at some point. Now however, it was time to get her mind back on the task at hand. "Whatever made that hole was big and had sharp enough claws to leave marks on the floors of this place. Aside from Vashni I'm the hardest target in our group and she's is going to be busy ferrying the rest of you down. I'll head down first and guard the landing site as she does so." She'd been walking around a civilian section of Metru Nui in combat armor because she'd needed to run a function test after doing some extra tinkering on the internals. Apparently she was going to get more of a test than initially planned. At least she'd get some good data before this hunt was over. With a glance that swept of the rest of the group she stepped to the edge of the hole and looked down. The drop was a bit much to just drop, even with her armor. But the multiple levels between here and there added some extra options. The armored Matoran took one step to the left, placed her foot on a part of the edge that was more bent than blade, and jumped. The foot pushing forward off the edge gave her the angular momentum needed to shoot across the gap and land safely on a stable section of one of the lower floors. Repeating the move got her down on the lowest unbroken floor in short order and she turned in place, eyes and ears both open for any surprises.
  18. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "If I was going to hide something on this level that's where I would do it. For a short time at least. Don't want what needs hiding to be found by the construction workers after all." The technically tall Matoran turned to scan the dark hallway with her golden visor. After a moment she stepped forward, moving cautiously into the unknown. "Lets go."
  19. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "Nothing like a little adrenaline to get you up in the morning." The silvered helmet of the Matoran was sweeping back and forth, her X-ray vision activated and scanning the area for threats. "I suggest we head for the darkest spot on this floor. Anyone going to these lengths would make sure to keep the most interesting tidbits in the most unpleasant location."
  20. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "This hunt was started with the announcement of the arrest of the city's Toa team and a call for replacements. Politics has it's fingerprints aaaaaall over the situation. Somebody is obviously trying to cover their tracks, the only question is which side of the law they currently fall on."
  21. Should probably say that the GM has given me some leeway about what Tallea finds in the Archive database.
  22. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "The four Ice Toa had a barbershop quartet...and someone seems to have deleted large sections about the Archives. Pretty sloppily too. They didn't even bother to put in replacement entries, just delete tho old ones." She glanced over at their 'guide.' "Atamai, what's on level seven?"
  23. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: "It helps when you know what to look for." The Vo-Matoran's voice still had that half distracted tone to it. "Did you know that Toa Naho's favorite food is Temple Squid calamari?"
  24. Tallea - Onu-Metru - Archives IC: Well now, that was an awful lot of information just waiting to be explored. All in neatly lined up computers tied into some sort of central database. Of course the ease of access also meant that most of the really important information on this subject wouldn't be in there. A pity, Tallea had a feeling this hunt was going to get *really* interesting before it was over. "Why thank you." The words, while polite enough, carried a certain sardonic air to them. Jutori hadn't gained any friends by attempting to hide his desire for the disks. She stepped forward into the room, calling over her shoulder as she did so. "This shouldn't take too long. I'll peruse the info as we move." So say, she stepped up to one of the stations and leaned down rather than taking a seat. This wouldn't take that long. The screen flickered from one menu to the next as her fingers alternated between the keys and mouse, only pausing now as then to stare at something on the screen. Anyone watching closely enough would be able to see that her search had very little to do with the city's former Toa team. In fact the last window she closed had more to do with wireless systems infrastructure than autobiographical data. Turning, she walked back over to the group. Speaking with a slightly distracted tone she said, "Alright lets go. I'll tell you if I find anything worth mentioning."
