  1. May as well add my own profile dump, then. ___________________________________________ Name: Erik Jet Character Type: Hero (Sergeant)

Abilities/Equipment: Overall design was created with agility and stealth in mind, plus night-vision built into the visor of his helmet; as such, reconnaissance and espionage are Jet's forte. He’s currently training to develop a Baguazhang-esque fighting style to make up for his slight build.
As for weapons, he possesses a pair of pulsed-energy gauntlets (that can shock/stun/paralyze the target on contact), and a basic plasma pistol. Appearance: Basic 2.0 Hero design, albeit a tad scrawnier. Armor is a blackish grey overall, his gauntlets are silver, and his core and eyes are electric blue.

Bio: Jet is a rookie who's only just started taking on missions without a mentor. Being relatively diffident, he tends to keep to himself, but doesn't let that get in the way of carrying out his assignments. Deep down he's a very chipper guy, and amuses himself by slipping in out of nowhere to spook his fellows. He's also quite the bookworm. The destruction of the Tower took its toll on Jet physically and mentally. He’s since had his legs repaired, but now has occasional nightmares about being buried alive again. ___________________________________________ Name: Daren Wolfe Character Type: Hero (Lieutenant) Abilities/Equipment: Built for strength and endurance. Exceptional marksman with years of experience in numerous types of long-range weaponry. Targeting scanner/sight built into his helmet’s visor as a backup in the event of poor visibility. His primary weapon is a collapsible longbow. His quiver can hold up to forty arrows that each have one of various tiny devices incorporated into the shafts, distinguished by colored fletching (standard, explosive, smoke bomb, tracer, electric and cryonic). Also carries a hefty dagger. Appearance: Simplified 5.0 design. Large frame covered in dark/gunmetal grey armor. Carries his quiver on his back primarily (left shoulder), though can wear it from his waist if shooting from a fixed location. His core, visor and eyes are red. Bio: Wolfe is a veteran who’s been around about as long as Stormer, but is nowhere near as grumpy. On the contrary, Wolfe is very amiable, exceedingly patient, and has a good sense of humor (though he still has his grouchy-old-man moments). He frequently serves as a combat instructor in the Training Sphere. ___________________________________________ Name: Henry Flint (Lieutenant) Abilities/Equipment: Immensely strong tank-type warrior built for the long haul. Outfitted with heavy armor designed to withstand most weather extremes. Helmet features a built-in respirator/air-filter (think ‘aquata breather’ from Star Wars, or a vacuum filter). His weapon-of-choice is a massive, black-bladed khopesh, along with a basic plasma pistol. Appearance: Two heads taller than the average Hero, rather burly and broad-shouldered, and wears a helmet that looks like a sallet-gasmask hybrid. Armor is white over a black frame, while the right vambrace is silver. His core and eyes are teal. Bio: Flint is taciturn, grouchy, and tends to be an extremely cautious individual. A stickler for protocol and firm adherent to the Hero code, he can become impatient with any Heroes who don’t take their duties seriously, and extremely distrustful of those who take on a vigilante mindset. Deep down, though, he's actually a big ol' softy. Just... don’t let him catch you saying that. Ever. ___________________________________________ Name: Helen Corona Character Type: Civilian (Mission Manager) Abilities/Equipment: Advanced self-defense, and a black belt in sarcasm. Always wears a headset while on-duty, and is never without her datapad. Appearance: Average height; shapely white-and-silver frame; white hair similar in style to Daniella Capricorn’s (but with a sort of flip at the end); and a piece of pale blue metal that resembles a headband. Bio: Helen has been working with HF for a couple of years now, having started out as a Call Center operator before making Mission Manager shortly after the Brain Attack. She is very formal, if a bit aloof, and takes her job very seriously (some joke that it’s impossible to get her to smile). Despite this, she cares very much for the Heroes in her charge, and would face Von Nebula himself if it meant keeping them safe. Being an astronomy hobbyist, she greatly enjoys star mapping, and often keeps a small observation log nearby. ___________________________________________ Name: Ethan Rez Character Type: Civilian (Mission Manager) Abilities/Equipment: Very skilled technician and cryptanalyst. Wears a headset during work hours, and often carries a folding, duel-screen tablet (glorified laptop that opens sideways like a book). Appearance: Put simply, he’s a taller, lankier clone of Zib. The only real difference is that his eyes glow indigo and resemble goggles/glasses. Bio: Rez is the class nerd; the teacher’s pet; the kid who always got picked last for sports during recess. He’s a gentle, even-tempered person, if a little skittish, and wears his heart on his sleeve. Being a Mission Manager is new to Rez, and a little stressful (especially when the Ice Queen Helen is about), but he always strives to give 110%. ___________________________________________ Name: Dr. Robert Xaal Character Type: Villain Abilities/Equipment: Having suffered extensive, irreparable damage to his optics many years ago, Xaal now relies on a radar system to compensate for his dead eyes (he grew tired of constantly fixing/replacing them). The device’s range is limited to ten feet, so while he can still get around with relative ease, he obviously isn’t going to be running about pulling stunts like those pesky Heroes. Focusing the device on a single area/object will provide far more detailed information, but at the cost of being completely blind to everything else. Having no combat experience to speak of, and thus no weapons, he instead possesses a shielding device that projects a small energy dome with a maximum duration of fifteen minutes (assuming no damage is taken). Appearance: He wears a long, dark grey lab coat over his tall, vaguely skeletal frame, with black, elbow-length gloves and matching boots. His head is sleek, white, and skull-like, and his eyes are as blank as a corpse’s. The collar of his lab coat covers the majority of his neck, but what little can be seen is crude, deteriorating technology that betrays his age. Two thick hoses jut out of his upper chest, run over his shoulders, and attach to a hefty white box that’s strapped to his back. Bio: Volatile, sadistic, audacious, and unpredictable, all hidden under the façade of an amiable gentleman. Formally a very benign physician, Xaal was once called to HF to tend to an injured group of villains, one of whom broke free in a fit of rage and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of the poor doctor. Xaal’s physical and mental health slowly declined thereafter, and he’s become rather neurotic about keeping that contraption on his back running… These days he acts as a private doctor and inventor for his fellow villains. Notes: His laboratory is located in Makuhero City, under an abandoned, nondescript office building. He also has a safehouse somewhere in Eclipse Station. ___________________________________________ SHIP PROFILE Name: LOIS (Low Orbit Ion System) Appearance: Modified vintage jumpship (22 m long) with chrome plating and red accents on the wings. A large, black, Hero Factory ‘H’ adorns the bow, as well as ‘Lois’ meticulously hand-painted in black next to the right wing. Size: Small (seats three people) Pilots/PCs: Wolfe NPCs: None Communications: Access to all HF channels and most civilian channels. Navigation & Drive: Has access to all HF starmaps and charting systems. Average sensor array. Cockpit is arranged with the pilot in front, passenger to the back right, and gunner to the back left. Weapons & Armor: Standard plasma gun built into the hull under the bow/cockpit (which requires a brief cooldown period after excessive use), and two wing-mounted laser guns (added by Wolfe). Armor plating is light but durable, and is backed up by a standard shielding system. Propulsion: Moderately agile, and considerably fast for a refurbished antique. Possesses both an overhauled sublight ion engine and a custom hyperdrive unit (commissioned by Wolfe) propelling the ship via two large thrusters. Landing: Can land on any solid surface with relative ease. Landing gear is also outfitted with gravitation clamps for low-to-zero-gravity landings. Unlike HF’s dropships, the boarding ramp opens from underneath. Notes: Originally meant to act as a swanky commuter craft for short trips between planets and whatever space stations orbited them. Considering it’s age, LOIS is slightly more likely to break down than the rest of HF’s fleet.
  2. Editing that would be helpful, yes. It's still a rather vague ability. You're saying it's not powerful enough to crush anyone, yet it has the power to rip people/objects out of the sky who are (presumably) a good distance away. Unless it's deliberately designed to be weak but long-range, I don't see that happening. Even if you adjust this, I'm still hesitant to allow gravity powers unless they have some form of cooldown period (and I don't mean five or ten seconds, I mean a half-a-minute at least), or well-defined limitations. Considering the device was originally built to allow better movement underwater, then I recommend sticking with that and making this device short-range. I'll admit that I don't see this as being an insta-kill ability, but it could still be abused. Treat it like Magnetism as opposed to the Force, please. "Deathly" is misleading. I'm stuck with the mental-image of a cartoonishly obese character that can barely walk let alone fight crime. "Exaggerating adjectives" may be amusing, but they tend to generate confusion that can bungle interaction posts.
  3. Beemer approved 3/3! Whoops. I knew we'd eventually forget to do something. But yes, You Can Post Now. I posted the go-ahead on page 3... ;__;
  4. Drift approved 3/3. Shard approved 3/3. Bliss (and ship) approved 3/3. Blink approved 3/3. Crowley approved 2/3. Vyle approved 2/3. Salty emo biscuit Rune approved 2/3. --- For Echo, having a "strong sense of right and wrong" seems to imply that he still has Lawful Good leanings, but I'll grant you that some people might interpret that differently. Obviously we haven't seen him in action yet, nor do I remember the specifics of Focus's plans once Echo was resurrected (are they vigilantes now?), but would you say that his sense of justice is now rooted in logic as opposed to emotion? Or would it be simpler to say that he just no longer agrees with HF's methods? --- Jax Beemer is pending approval. Unfortunately, it's not very in-character for Hero Factory to recruit people off the streets. (Kind of defeats the purpose of being a factory, eh? ) If he's a Hero, then he was built by Mr. Makuro and co. Feel free to keep the vigilante aspect, though! Might be interesting to have a "ranger" type Hero who may or may not listen to orders, haha. --- Sylver approved 1/3! She makes me think of Lois Lane. I don't see any major problems with Athena, so approved 1/3.
  5. The gameplay topic is NOW OPEN! I'll look over the new batch of profiles in the morning when I can see straight, haha...

Banner by Onaku and Tex DISCUSSION THREAD & CHARACTER PROFILES ____________________ ABOUT: Roughly a year has passed since Alpha 1 Team saved Makuhero City from the dreaded Brain horde. A lot has happened between now and then, but Hero Factory continues to stand strong, helping those in need all across the galaxy. However, the Heroes of Alpha 1 aren’t the only ones protecting the known territories – there are many other Heroes, veterans and youngsters alike, each with their own unique abilities, who work day and night to keep evil at bay. The question is: Can they maintain this time of peace… or will evil prevail? It’s up to you. ____________________ GM COUNCIL: ZippyWharrgarbl The Old Master FallenCor Rylinth Anderfel Toa Onaku ____________________ HERO RANKS: Because just "rookie" and "veteran" is boring, right? 7. To be perfectly honest, I think you can get away with 100m. Insurgent approved 3/3. Approved 3/3!
  8. Approved 2/3. Rider approved 2/3! I'll hold off on Insurgent for now.
  9. Feel free to post Rider's profile whenever. We also have the new template on the first post if you want to use that.
  10. I assume he fires normal bullets out of his minigun if he's got no radioactive matter? Also, I think we brought this up last time but I'm not sure, but radioactive waste doesn't do much to robots immediately. Pretty much, if it's on your armour and for whatever reason you just don't shower for a while, then it can start corroding the metal. It has more of an effect on circuitry, but it's still slow-action. Still, it'd do more damage than on the armour, because getting gunk out of your metal insides would be harder than just taking a shower. I'm aware that Meltdown exists and has radioactive waste as a weapon, which I assume is similar to what Quake is going for. I have no idea how that guy does it, either. He used it in canon to transport nanobots, so my guess is his weapon is designed to breach the armour and get the gunk in that way. Quake was approved beforehand, though, and is great, so I'm not gonna unapprove him. He and Thumper broke all of space and time once, and it was incredible. So, I'm going to say that the radioactive gunk would require the bullet to pierce through to circuitry to have extra damage- that, or get on someone who never bathes. This all said, radiation would be pretty dang bad for organic creatures so the above "has to pierce armour" rule doesn't apply for them. If that's all right with masterchirox, then Kavok Quake is approved (1/3 approvals). If masterchirox- or anyone- has an issue with any of that, then that's totally fine and I'll work with you for a workaround. Perhaps he has a fast-acting corrosive compound mixed in with the radioactive materials? The only other thing I'll point out is that we're getting rid of the whole "villain location" thing, so you can remove that whenever. GM approval 2/3. Very nice character! I was just wondering about a few things, before I sign off on my third of the approval: - How does her kinetic propulsion work? It sounds like some kind of "pushes away from the ground" deal, but if that's the case, there'd probably be a height limit or requires solid ground below her for it to work. - Her weapon, I assume, also needs reloading when used on and off for an accumulative time of thirty seconds? This one's a pretty obvious answer but I figured I'd clarify. - How powerful is the push, and how rapidly can the weapon fire? Thirty seconds of slamming a guy headfirst into a wall continually, with no chance of escape, sounds a little iffy. But if it's like, you make them fall over continuously for thirty seconds, that's not only hilarious but also less iffy. Thirty seconds seems a long time for a rapid fire weapon with an effect you can't escape from if it's rapid fire. Maybe have a delay between shots to allow the possibility of a dodge? - She's "a little over six months" old- the Assembly Tower was destroyed around six months ago. It's a close call, and I'd recommend you think about her skill level if you want to change it. She'd be a pretty inexperienced rookie at six months old, with all this other stuff going down and all the training spheres and junk blown up! While not directly stated by the canon, it's a pretty safe assumption to say Heroes go through some kind of training beforehand- that would explain why Breez, Surge and Furno were selected as good enough to join Alpha Team as rookies. If everything was blown up, her training would have been more limited. Stuff about her going on missions would be...well, I'm willing to say they've taken her with more experienced Heroes for less dangerous missions, since with all the stuff that went down they'd be short-staffed. But she'd definitely be inexperienced, is what I'm getting at. So, she's approvement pending from me, since there's a couple things that need clarifying here. ... I did not mean for my first character approval to be so long. ;a; They're both very very nice characters, and I'm not trying to be mean or rude- I just want to clarify some stuff. I'd lower the firing rate of the blaster to no more than fifteen seconds. Even for science-fiction thirty seconds is a bit much. As to her arsenal as a whole, I hesitate to allow a rookie so many weapons. If she were a veteran, sure, I wouldn't have a problem with it... but it's very unlikely that the higher-ups would be okay with a rebel fresh out of the Assembly Tower running around with all of that. I'd nix either the taser or the knives. Once she has more experience under her belt, feel free to make a request for another weapon.

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: Mina stopped dead when a terrible screech tore the air, and looked to see what Hekua was pointing at. "Nothing good," she breathed in response, her shocked expression turning to horror. "Run!" She instinctively grabbed the Onu-Matoran's arm and pelted for the village... which probably wasn't a good idea, considering that the creature could very well follow them back to the others. Mina realized this and glanced about as she ran, trying desperately to find someplace the two of them could hide.
  12. Also, for those of you making brand new rookies, please keep in mind that the Assembly Tower resumed operations only a few IC months ago. We'll post a proper summary of the timeskip in due time.

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: Glancing between Aurelius and Hekua for a rather awkward three seconds, Mina cleared her throat as nonchalantly as possible and continued, addressing the former, "Well, we don't want to keep you from your work. It was nice talking to you!" She smiled and gave a small, polite nod, then resumed her original course for the hill she had pointed out to Hekua. Inwardly she chided herself for her feeble attempt at small talk. Aurelius was clearly in no mood to interact with newcomers -- or perhaps she was reading too much into it. Either way, she didn't want to press her luck and spoil potential friendships for Hekua. The veterans would need time to adjust to the presence of the new arrivals.

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: She shrugged. "A few small pieces of metal, but that's about it. Oh! and this is Hekua." Mina nodded to the Onu-Matoran. "She arrived here yesterday evening, so I'm showing her the ropes."

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: "That's Aurelius," she replied. "We've only spoken a few times, but he's really nice. I think you'll like him." Mina turned to meet the Fe-Matoran and smiled. "Morning, Aurelius. How are things?"
  16. ~~~ By the way, let's hold off on posting any more character profiles, seeing as there's nobody to approve them right now. Apologies for not saying anything about that before. X'D

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: "Hopefully," she replied distractedly, then handed the metal spikes to Fulmen, who had volunteered to take them back up to the plateau. The Av-Matoran watched him leave, and continued to keep an eye on him until he was safely back in the village. The three of them would figure out what to do with the spikes later. "Let's try over there," she said to Hekua, pointing with her staff to a small lump of a hill about half a kio to the East. There was also a figure over in that direction whom Mina was sure she recognized. Perhaps Aurelius? It would certainly be nice if she could introduce Hekua to one of Canus's more amiable villagers. Whoever it was, she offered a friendly wave.
  18. I thought I'd send it to everyone on the off chance that some might want to see what's up and possibly come play again. Sorry to bug ya! :'D

    HF RPG 2.5 GM Voting

    - ZippyWharrgarbl - The Old Master - The Amaztastical Lynn - Toa Onaku - Myself
  20. ...ni shuo shen me? I'm just being a goof, haha. I saw that Kuur's profile says that he's lost and frightened, and Mina, being the motherly type, would certainly feel bad for the poor guy and want to help him out.

    Wasteland

IC Mina - The Wastes: Mina stood up after a time and sighed. The metal spikes weren't much, but it was more than she expected to find in the first hour. The two she held were moved to the edge of their little excavation site and stuck into the ground vertically so they wouldn't roll away. Mina sat down next to them and watched as Dessimus hauled some charred hunk of... something, back to the village. She would have offered to help, but she knew he'd refuse, and she didn't want to leave the others behind anyway. Spotting a Su-Matoran named Skoll a short distance away, she gave a small wave in greeting, then turned her attention back to Fulmen and Hekua. "Do you guys want to try elsewhere...?" she asked, fairly certain that they weren't going to find anything else buried with the iron spikes.
  22. Yeah, this is really just voting for the five people you think would make a good team. I think if we're good to go we can have Tex set up that blog post soon. Meanwhile, I'll write up a draft of the newsletter. Nothin' big, just a rundown of everything we've discussed so far, plus a link to Tex's blog post.
  23. Oh my lord, MINA WILL SAVE YOU, KUUR, YOU POOR DEAR.
  24. Well, if you use the exact same profile from before, I don't see any reason to have to re-approve them. I can't speak for anyone else, but if said profiles were acceptable in the old game, then I think they're perfectly fine to use again. The only time I could see re-approval coming into play would be if someone where adding something (just like in the old game), or switching to the new profile template (to make sure nobody sneaks in an extra power/weapon without explaining how it got there). I'll most likely be using the new template for all of my own characters, so I'll need to re-submit them for two reasons: one, because I've been meaning to give Jet a basic gun for a while now, and I don't want to just toss it in there without telling anyone, and two, I want to assure everyone else that I didn't sneak anything into any of my other profiles. Not that anyone would get into a fight over such a thing, but it can be embarrassing if the GM or another player has to call you out on something. What questions did you have in mind, though?

IC Mina - The Wastes: Slowing her pace to check her bag without tripping, Mina pulled out a piece of curved metal roughly twice the size of her own hand. "Close enough?" she joked with an apologetic smile. She held it out for either of them to take while she simultaneously dug around in her satchel for one of the glorified cups she had collected. This she also offered to Hekua and Fulmen as she squinted at the horizon. "We could try that dune over there," she suggested, indicating a small lump of land to her right.
