  1. >>> LINK TO FLICKR GALLERY <<< "Once the apex predator of Okoto, now just a pile of bones and stories to keep the children in bed. Kulta the Skull Grinder has resurrected the Okoto Terror Birds to assist him in hunting down the Toa and claiming their golden masks in the process." Really enjoyed building this guy. I wanted to build something based off of the Tarakava's punching mechanism from 2001, but my original project ideas weren't working as well as I had hoped. So from the ashes of failed projects this success rose and took flight. This also happens to be my entry into the Flickr contest, so yeah, vote for Terror. (You can also spread the word with these cool banners!)
  2. >> LINK TO MORE PICTURES << I don't have a lot of Mega Bloks stuff yet, so it's not as big as I'd like. But it still looks cool for a midi-scale ship. (If you guys have any misc Mega Bloks stuff sitting around that you don't want, I'd be more than happy to give it a new home. )
  3. >> LINK TO MORE PICTURES << This uses Logan McOwen's gearbox design.
  4. Pretty sure this can go here... so here we go... LINK TO GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN Hey guys, so if you didn't know already, I'm a Boy Scout. Right now I'm working on my Eagle Scout project and in order to purchase all of the materials and supplies, I must fundraise. Right now I have 5 or 6 fundraisers planned to take place over the course of August and the rest of July, but that's not enough. I'm going to need a lot of money to pull this off. I understand that not all of you have money to give, and I'm not specifically asking any one of you to give. I'm just trying to advertise it. My Eagle Project is revamping a local dog park to provide incentive for its use. You can read more about it on the GoFundMe page or this blog entry.
  5. [] MORE PICTURES [] So this started out as a G2 Solek, but quickly started looking like a beefed up Protector of Ice. So I called him an Honor Guard and was done with it. I wanted to keep his weapons similar to the regular PoI, but did away with the six-shooter because I didn't like how it looks. Also, yes, I used a gearbox for non-function purposes. I manipulated it purely for its connection points.
  6. Planning is definitely a big part of making a video. If you don't start out with a clear idea of what you want to accomplish and how you're going to do it, the end result may not be as outstanding as the initial ideas you thought of because you haven't fleshed them out to make them even more amazing. So next time you do this, I'd definitely recommend starting by writing down your ideas, and then sketching the different scenes out in a storyboard format. As for adding sounds, there are loads of video editing programs out there. The one I use most frequently is Windows Movie Maker, which is a free program. If you have a Mac, the iMovie program is also a good one from what I've seen (it's $15, so it isn't too costly). Although the programs I'd recommend the most are Adobe Premier Elements or Sony Vegas. All of these programs allow you to drag and drop sound clips into place, cut them up into smaller bits, and even alter the way they sound. For lighting, a good combat for that is to look ahead at the weather and figure out when it would be a good time to film. Another strategy is to film a lot of short scenes that are close-up instead of very long wide shots. This allows you to be able to focus on one small area instead of a large one, so if a cloud suddenly blocks your light source, you can quickly resume or change the angle of the camera. Differences in lighting are also not as noticeable when shooting a smaller area. If you're filming inside, don't rely on the sunlight for your lighting (for the same reasons as outside). Instead, use overhead lights if you have them, and throw a couple desk lamps into the mix. For indoor lighting, I'd recommend using LEDs. They emit white light, which is much friendlier to pictures than yellow light, and in most cases are cheaper and emit less heat. Another way to combat lighting differences is to manually change the white balance on your camera. When I do my indoor photography, I use a combination of outdoor light and my overhead lights (which actually emit yellow light). But I can change the white balance on my camera so the things in my pictures don't have that notorious yellow tint. Hope this helps!
  7. I would go to any swim meet I could and dominate. If you were stuck in Karzahni's realm, you would...
  8. Mine is currently a Mega Bloks Air Assault Spartan from the Falcon set, which bears a striking resemblance to Spartan Kat-B320, my favorite Noble team Spartan from Halo Reach. (Large Picture)
  9. Remember Reach ( Original Picture)
  10. Not bad! It looks good for the most part, the animation isn't too choppy (which is awesome), but there are two things that I'd like to recommend: Add sound. When it's finished, you should add some sound effects. Watching robots fight giant spiders is cool, but it loses something when there's nothing to listen to. Take your pictures with consistent lighting. If you're going to be stop-motioning outside, make sure you do so when there's not a lot of clouds out that could block the sunlight. It's weird seeing it go from light to dark so much so quickly. I look forward to seeing the final product! You've got a really cool thing going for you.

  13. 5 Hopefully I can get one this year! Such a cool design!
  14. Oh wow! I didn't know this was a thing. I was aware that boy scouts had gone to other conventions and taken part in lego events before, but I never knew that a troop's hosted one, and one so close to where I lived before I moved to Italy! I did get my troop to do an organized trip to BFVA in 2013, and they were even featured on the LEGO Club video showcasing the event!
  15. Technically I never said I was going anywhere, so I'm leaving this blog entry untended for an hour. Alright, aaaaaand I'm back! This weekend I went up to Germany for an Order of the Arrow spring fellowship! I was on the ceremony team for the pre-ordeal, ordeal, and brotherhood ceremonies, I got to build two incredible fires, and I got cool patches! I also went to this cool town named Rothenburg! Lots of fun was had, but I'm not going to go into specifics. I just went out and had a great time with friends. (The reason I built two fires was because there were hot ashes underneath the first one and it literally lit itself while I wasn't around. The second one was a lot better though.) Here's a picture of the second fire, because I didn't take a photo of the first one ;-;
  16. My store FINALLY got the Transformers Generations Combiner Wars wave 1 deluxe class figures! I'm looking forward to getting at least a few of them because they look super cool. Firefly Firefly is probably my favorite out of this wave He has a sleek robot mode, and a sleek jet to match. Probably his biggest drawback is the amount of robot "kibble" on the underside of his jet mode. Dragstrip Dragstrip looks pretty nice with the other Stunticons that are out everywhere else in the world. I love the look of his F1 racecar and how smooth he looks altogether. His biggest drawback for me is the screwholes on his robot mode's front. Alpha Bravo Definitely a cool looking figure, with a cool helicopter to match, but the amount of vehi-kibble on his back bugs me. :/ Skydive I love how brawny Skydive looks. Despite having a very similar transformation process to Firefly, the robot kibble doesn't look too bad. I can't wait to get these figures (and hopefully the legends and voyagers too!). Now here's to hoping that my store will make it to wave two so I can get Dead End...
  17. So I was reading through a dinosaur book from my early childhood earlier and saw that they labeled T-Rex as the big, mean dinosaur who killed other dinosaurs. Why do we label the carnivorous dinosaurs as the bad ones? They could’ve been like “Aw man, these Apatasaurus’ are eating all of my salad. What will I eat now? You know what, screw this, I’m going to eat them." What if the vegan dinosaurs were the evil ones...
  18. ...So this is how Tahu, Onua, and Kopaka got so buff....
  19. How will this affect... ...other... ...parts of my body?
  20. *Reads BZP Rules (Blog rules too) to make sure I'm not breaking any* Ok, I'm good. Here is the short (BZP-appropriate) version of my AMV "Smoke Masks Erreday". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezq72KwdKVU
  21. Yes. So much yes. But where's Max's Pursuit Special? You can't make Mad Max MOCs and not make the Pursuit Special.
  22. What if the mastermind behind the World War II Nazis wasn't actually Hitler, but Hitler's dog. What if Hitler's dog, Blondi, was manipulating Hitler into doing what he did so that Blondi could then take over the world. Once America and the rest of the allied forces were out of the picture, Blondi would take over the world, reinstate dogs as the world leaders, and make Hitler his primary butler. But America knew about this. So they sent in a black ops team to take out Blondi. Once Blondi was out of the picture, it was all downhill. Near the end of the war, when Hitler found Blondi's body. He committed suicide so that he could be with his dog forever. And then America covered everything up because 'Murica. Now I'll patiently wait for the black helicopters.
