  1. See, it's pretty likely that Icarax held hundreds, if not thousands of differing material forms prior to the siege on Karda Nui just before his death, so it's tough to put a handle on this. To be honest, I don't think that it's really super relevant, as Icarax retained personal agency over his physical size while in Karda Nui; thus, the "answer" might be several different figures. As per the set that we got in 2008, I'd suspect that he was roughly the height of Teridax as he took the iconic "Shadow Titan" form. -Azani
  2. This has always been my dream as a wannabe filmmaker . Wait for Lego to forget about the product, buy it, give fans the continuation they deserve. I Any thoughts on how much you'd be willing to pay? I'd say that it's pretty safe to assume that the rights to the entirety of the "BIONICLE" franchise will be valued at millions of dollars in any reasonable period of time. -Azani Yes, I guess it would cost a pretty peny, this it's why it's a dream. But hey, if a make any money off the first couple of films I know where it's going. Maybe I could even make a deal with lego so that I get the story rights and they can produce some toy's to go with the film. I could definitely see hat, especially if you end up doing so during a time when TLG is actively looking to branch out in a clear way from their tried and true ways of doing business. They've done it before; I'm pretty certain that they'll do it again. I hope that I didn't give you the impression that I didn't think that it was anywhere near the realm of plausibility; I have a pretty serious set of expectations on how the franchise will be handled in my lifetime, so I'm pretty sure that we haven't heard the last of it. That said, it may be a few years - heck, even decades until we hear from G1 again in any significant capacity. What you'd need to do is dependent on how explicitly interested TLG is in licensing, if they are at all; however, you'd probably be giving yourself the best shot if you wrote a script as a freelancer, sent it to a studio, and let the experts take care of the legal work. That said, they studio would have to circumvent all that after deciding that they really like your script. Best of luck, man. -Azani
  3. So, the anxiously anticipated LEGO House is officially open to the public today in Billund. Back in mid-2015, Faber jumped on his personal blog that he uses to discuss anything of relevance to himslef and posted an entry that pretty specifically implicated that there will be a decent amount of late 1990's and early 2000's G1 memorabilia and concepts on display there. From the original post: "The phonecall confirmed that Bionicle will have a prominent place in that history since it was the "The toy that saved LEGO" (quote from J∅rgen Vig Knudstorp) and suddenly all my Turaga beach crates full of old sketches gets interest." As it is, I think that we saw a brief glimpse of a display featuring the Toa Mata back in 2016; is anyone aware of what else is down there? Heck, does anyone know a fellow who's going? -Azani
  4. Way ahead of you, a few weeks ago I inquired and it is indeed tan not yellow or white No surprise there. t least I was prepared for that. -Azani
  5. Uh, I don't want to come off as an idiot, but is this actually what I think it is?
  6. That's the thing, though; there's a very serious chance that the Rahi weren't outright defeated by the end of the MNOG. Even though we jump right in to the 2002 story with less than a day in between the two arcs, it shouldn'ty be much of a stretch to assume that a few Rahi remained under Teridax's control, however minor of an aspect of his strategy they may have been by that point in time. We didn't have any films or books until 2003, so it's very possible that a lot went on in the background, while the Matoran struggle in pretty much every way. Further, I'm relatively sure that there isn't a lot to suggest that he had a nearly inexhaustible supply of rahi - he likely had (close to) infinite Kraata, but when you consider the number of Rahi that could have been living on Metru Nui at the time of the Great Cataclysm, and then the number that survived to make it to Mata Nui, it probably wasn't too big; it's unlikely that there were as many individual Rahi as there were Matoran when the Toa hit the island. It may have _seemed_ as though the total number was huge, becuase they were comparably comfortable in many different Wahi and weren't as easily indentifiable on an individual level as people would have been. Of course, they were also much larger, so that increased the tension by a bit. As Pohaturon says, most of theme were probably an issue on some level well into the MoL days, without their masksl; it's implied that Teridax picked the most imposing, dangerous Rahi around for his army; I mean, he would know, right? See, even outside of Ta-Koro, there's a strong insinuation that the means by which the Rahi were infected was pretty widely known; Kongu pretty much says the exact same thing after the battle in the skies. Y'know, maybe the MNOG was more clear-cut on this than we may have thought... EDIT: Directly from the old Farshtey Feed. He isn't certain, but it's something more. "Greg imagines that there were still problem Rahi with infected Kanohi on Mata Nui as late as the start of the 2003 story."
  7. I may be missing something, but I'm not seeing a working link over here. Uh, is this the topic? EDIT: Apologies; I've found the topic, haha. No worries.

  9. Just to be totally sure, we're talking about the same thing, right? The Kanohi Hau? I've been pretty certain that that was pronounced "HOW".
  10. So, for the mildest ones, I used to pronounce Nokama "No-KOMO". Nah, when I was five and first discovered the Toa Metru, I was mispronouncing darn near everything. Dume as "doom", Matau as "mat-A-oo", Metru Nui as "metro nui", Hau, as "haw-oo"... the list is not modest by any means. Also, I was five, so I stuck to referring to the "Arh-CHEEVES" in Onu-Metru for some reason.
  11. Alrighty; I'd be interested in a few of these, particularly the misprints. Starting off the assumption that you're able to, it would be fantastic to get a photo of this one. Is it in pretty solid shape? I'm not sure as to which masks are filled in with a green circle on that image, but I'd easily be down to sell many of my odd-color Mata and Turaga masks for one of these. I also have a nearly unblemished copy of 8582 Matoro; it was opened and built once a little under two years ago, then touched maybe one more time. It's been stored in a cool, dark spot, and there's a good chance that I can dig up the box and instructions. Additionally, I have a complete, though moderately used copy of the Scuba Slizer; it's second hand, but everything is there; the faceplate and the disk are both in solid shape.
  12. Glad to see you offering these, man. It'll be totally alright either way, but do you only accept CAD for these? For some reason, I'm not able to see any of the images that you linked to; is there some alternative way that you could post them? I have some sets and masks that I'd be interested in trading on the chance that you could re-upload them. Thanks!
  13. I always assumed the Lhii stuff got removed because the story team wanted to make the villagers a bit more robotic, thus it didn't make sense to have Jaller be part of a clan as I guess that would insinuate biological reproduction. For the life of me I cannot determine where the description of him being all yellow with a Pakari comes from originally. Additionally, it's possible that they removed it because it may have been confusing for players who "jumped" to that chapter in the MNOG via the main screen, and thus hadn't met Tahu yet. After all, they had lots of sets to sell, and Lhii (unfortunately) wasn't one of them. So, after doing a little research on the short excerpt that discusses Lhii from BS01, it looks as though the origins of the yellow armor and the Pakari remain unclear. Both facts are mentioned on the earliest revision of the page, and the Internet Archive doesn't have it archived. Very odd.
  14. The way that I'm justifying this is that any "super-intelligent Glatorian", which is, to my knowledge, not his original phrasing, can fall into a ton of different categories. They may be as far removed from Glatorian as we are from Chimpanzees on our world. I mean, just look at the Vorox. Aside from the incalculable, indescribable disappointment that this came into the world as, I have to wonder if Greg's decision was influenced or borrowed from old story team discussions at all. In all honesty, he may not recall what the Glatorian were intended to be; I may very well have forgotten similar things that I discussed eight or more years ago. Though I clearly can't be certain as to whether or not the fellow was clinging to the remnants of official G1 storyline or not, I would be very surprised if this was, say, the idea back in late 2001, when the Great Beings were first mentioned at length in canon. It shouldn't have been a rushed concept, though it may have been a rushed delivery; after all, one would think that the characters would have been conceptualized back in 1999 or 2000. I wish. Further... Uh, this might sound nuts - a little scary, actually, but... What if there wasn't one? What if that wasn't supposed to every be discussed? That, to me, would have been the greatest achievement of Generation One - the very implicit placement of real-world religion in the most sneaky way imaginable.
  15. The most significant issue with this would be that Maku and Hafu lack both the freshness of new characters and the iconic fame of the Mata. It's tough to work off of a reboot that stars other G1 characters. I agree with the validity of the serious risk of ruining the Mata if said characters continue to be overused; that said, the reason that they are utilized so often is because they were attractive, well-defined characters. Given solid writing and sufficient development, they're just great to read about. On my side, they were one of the biggest reasons for the early success of G1.
  16. I can totally do that; however, we may be misunderstanding each other. Back in my earlier post, I said that the decision will have "zero effect on the functionality... of any archived Flash content". I do wnat to clarify that the software will get glitchy and unwieldy. Seeing the negative effects of outdated, poorly-designed software is distinct from seeing Flash cease to function. I'm not doubting the fact that Flash won't be easy to use, nor the fact that no one will be willing to fix it if it breaks. It's for those express reasons that I feel as though converting the MNOG and its kin to a format independent of SWF would be a really wise idea. What I am, however, trying to say is that all SWF files will continue to work, implicit on the understanding that they're all saved to a local source. Unless a particular website is referencing Adobe's own, proprietary files, this won't be an issue, just as .wlmp files can still be read by copies of Windows Live Movie Maker.Theoretically, the MNOG and others, including all sites that use Flash plugins, will continue to work for as long as our media player software and Web browsers are able to recognize them. And that won't change, because Adobe licensed out the software format; they don't have any jurisdiction over individual works created using that format. What will be changing is the degree to which SWF as a design architecture and a piece of software will be supported; we won't be seeing any new patches, updates, or IT help after 2020. This will not affect the functionality of stable SWF plugins and .swf files that have been working up until this point in time. One of my sources is my dad, who has forged a career from mobile software, having occupied himself with this sort of thing since the early 90's. He's been an executive at tech startups, designed webpages, and written code for Sun Microsystems and Microsoft, and he is certain that there will not be issues with playing back (not updating or ensuring the quality of) old SWF files or plugins. "They will keep working. However, you can execute that flash will get replaced with HTML5 over time... unless the site is abandoned or the owner of the site doesn't care..." We care, and we're the closest thing that there is to a caretaker. Let's do this.
  17. Looks up what a MOBA is. I could get behind that; you know, the greatest potential issue with that is losing out on some world expansion and character development as a result of a lack of focus on side characters and minor locations. As Ive always considered it, one of G1's strengths was that it jumped from timeframe to timeframe and ventured across a number of varied lands, allowing us to meet the locals and their culture and adding to the feel of an old-fashioned epic à la Lord of the Rings. As a note, I get that many people probably aren't extra passionate about those parts of G1, so that might be something to take into consideration. All the same, the fandom is big enough that I suspect that many folks feel the same way.
  18. I'm a fan of a few of these, man; that said, is there really a reason for the creation of a topic dedicated to this sort of thing? Shouldn't these fall within the MOC subforums under individual users?
  19. I'm pretty glad to hear that others feel this way; in the past, I don't know if opening up a topic dedicated to a Ninjago movie would have garnered much interest, as the hold that Bionicle held on everyone's time was relatively strong. Perhaps that's a bizarre blessing to the ending of G2. And yeah, heck yeah, man! I'd love to discuss the new film, but I would suggest that you open up a topic on the subject. I'd be surprised if the two of us would be the only ones who had anything to say.
  20. I agree, but that's quite the lengthy (and unnecessary) response to hypothetical scenario that's just for fun. I mean, it definitely could provide a serious breath of fresh air if the new owner chose to utilize the property in a way that took advantage of G1's potential to a greater degree than TLG did. However, I frankly believe that the folks who created Bionicle are probably going to be better at that than any others. What would likely happen is that the new owners would lack the funds possessed by TLG, the most powerful toy company in the world, and thus the property would be treated with less care than it has ever been treated in the past. I could definitely be wrong about that, but it seems to be the most realistic scenario. EDIT: I went ahead and read your question in greater detail, so I'll jump in and clarify a few more thoughts: I don't think that it would go particularly well from the perspective of older, dedicated fans (i.e., every single person who is currently a member here) but I can definitely see the potential for it to succeed as far as revenue and widespread popularity goes on a mass scale. When you get down to it, BIONICLE just had a good story.I feel like you're implicating that said company would lack all rights to the content and branding, as TLG would likely proceed with the idea of licensing the theme if they were to have any hope of retaining creative control and they weren't financially desperate. Thus, I do suspect that they would maintain significant creative control; probably all when toys were concerned.I can pretty much guarantee that we would not receive any sort of continuation or elaboration on anything specific in G1. For the record, there are plenty of folks who probably would love that, but I can totally empathize with you if you're not one of them.Would "we" get the full works? Nah, nothing would be geared toward us; anything that did get released on that sort of level would likely have seen massive overhauls from the G1 days.
  21. So, the general consensus of the community usually falls along the idea that G1 was much, much more successful than G2 was in respect to sales; that said, did G1 see a number of instances where sets were released outside of the typical bi-annual, two wave scheme? I feel like there may have been a couple of other times when this took place, such as with a few of the titan sets in 2008, but I can't say that I'm totally sure on that one. As far as the release of Lhikan is concerned, I was unfortunately only five when it happened, so I might not be of much help here. :/ The Toa Hagah are a good example of that. Actually, it wasn't that atypical for sets in the same wave (by wave I assume you mean winter vs. summer) to have slightly staggered releases. IIRC in winter 2006, first the Matoran were released, then the Piraka, and finally Axonn and Brutaka were available later on. 2005 was a crazy year -- in the winter, the Toa Hordika were released in America at the same time as the Visorak were released in Europe. Then each side of the pond got the other wave in the summer. Maybe it was some sort of A/B testing. There were actually quite a few one-off sets that I think match your description -- the Master Builder set, Irnakk, Umbra, Lesovikk, yellow Jetrax T6, Toa Mata Nui... Visorak's Gate, Race for the Mask of Life... I was randomly reading through old posts in Greg's BZP blog yesterday and came across a few entries where he mentioned the Piraka and Inika set sales. Book sales too. Here's one, for example: http://www.bzpower.com/board/blog/26/entry-594-notes-from-billund/ Might give you some insight. I wouldn't be surprised if G2 were a sales disaster compared to G1. G2 suffered from a generic, shallow, uninspired storyline, told mostly through cringey animations, and I'm sure it also didn't help that the sets were an absolute mess aesthetically. They really undershot the audience's tastes. Is anyone seriously still questioning this? The line was meant to go on for at least three years, but they made the decision to cancel it early in the second. The sets were constantly on sale/clearance at brick and mortar stores and online, and many physical locations (Wal-Mart in particular) stopped carrying them entirely after the first year. It was clearly a colossal sales failure. It's okay though - Lego isn't some omniscient or infallible company. They make mistakes like any corporation, and Bionicle G2 was one of them. They're still in a far better position than any of their direct competitors. Megabloks, K-Nex, and Best-Lock are basically fighting over TLG's table scraps at this point. Heck no; I really didn't spend any time doubting that personally. Just thought that I'd gauge your opinions. Funny as it is, I remembered the bizarre 2006 release schedule when you mentioned it; that's one that really stuck in my mind. I guess that it just goes to illustrate how powerful G1 was when it came to securing shelf space.
  22. There's a particular point here that begs a really curious question: So, the general consensus of the community usually falls along the idea that G1 was much, much more successful than G2 was in respect to sales; that said, did G1 see a number of instances where sets were released outside of the typical bi-annual, two wave scheme? I feel like there may have been a couple of other times when this took place, such as with a few of the titan sets in 2008, but I can't say that I'm totally sure on that one. As far as the release of Lhikan is concerned, I was unfortunately only five when it happened, so I might not be of much help here. :/
  23. It's pretty intriguing to see everyone's thoughts on this, actually. From a personal perspective, I always stayed more interested in the vehicles than in the character sets that were over thirty or forty USD when the setline of G1 was ongoing. I definitely liked the individual characters, but I wasn't necessarily willing to spend a more significant amount of money on characters whose set incarnations were relatively bland, especially when resellers could sell them separately.
  24. I don't think that it'll be in constraction, or system. Or technic. Or even Clikits. Sorry about that. Y'know, I think that this covers it pretty well.
  25. Y'know, it's an alluring design that holds a lot of pop culture baggage, and I'm impressed with this particular sort of interpretation; the only thing that could be a little better are the proportions of the lower edges of the wings and the upper cockpit. All in all, solid work.
