  1. This being said it might be a good idea for fans to start downloading and archiving the files themselves. Just to guard against any possible Dataclysms like the ones that took down the fan games and comic sprite kits. No, for sure; I'm one hundred percent down with the efforts to preserve the game. I just want to make sure that everyone is on the same page with this particular concern.
  2. Yeah, to clarify: attention everyone! Adobe's decision to discontinue support for Flash Player in 2020 will have zero effect on the functionality or playability of any archived Flash content. Such content includes the MNOG, the MNOG2, the Bohrok and Bohrok Kal Animations, the Piraka Animations, and any other Flash-rooted content that was: Created prior to the point of discontinuation in 2020.Or is created using offline tools that allow the .swf files to be stored in a self-contained manner.A number of commercially and freely available software tools are capable of playing .swf files, including Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player. Both are still fully supported by their respective manufacturers, both of whom have not announced any plans to cease to do so. I'd be psyched to be a part of a project to restore, reset, and possibly remake the MNOG and similar Flash-rooted files, particularly the ones that have suffered over the years. That said, the discontinuation of support for Adobe Flash will not directly lead to any need to do so in any way. -Azani
  3. I'd like to take a quick moment to commend the AFTERMAN team on their work thus far, despite a relatively small pool of resources and a team that has spent the better part of its existence in significant flux. Throughout the weeks that I was a part of the group, spanning a period of four or so months, we were able to accomplish some incredible work, not least due to the efforts of Sailor and the iconic art of Faybos, our team's chief concept artist and penciller. All in all, we faced a unavoidable chunk of resistance from the simple fact that the concept of an independent spiritual successor is weird - at first glance, it doesn't make a lot of sense. It's not necessarily what folks are used to, or the type of aim that springs to mind when fans consider an unnofficial project. Well, that's because Afterman isn't really "unofficial" - it's both a Bionicle fan project and a distinctly non-Bionicle work of fiction, co-habitating with science fiction, fantasy, creation myths, and colorful characters in a menagerie of different spheres. To some degree, I've always felt that Afterman defied categorization, on par with the gallery of works that started out as a sort of fanfiction but gradually became much, much more. Regardless of whether or not that suits you and your tastes, I'd encourage everyone to give the project a glance on its Tumblr page (Easy-to-click link is in my sig) and on any other sort of public media that the team takes up as a platform. You'll have to ask Sailor if the Facebook page is still being utilized for anything. Though I'm sure that it has grown since I last aided the group, our team spanned between ten and fifteen regular contributors with talent from across the planet. In late March, I helped the team prepare notes and materials for a promotional spot that we had secured on the TTV Podcast, which you can view here if you're interested. As I mentioned above, and as is also mentioned in my sig, I'm not currently a member of the team behind Afterman, though I was fortunate to be a consistent member during some of the more formative months of the project. However, this really is Sailor's idea, born from casually written stories that have been in the minds of Faybos and her for years. As that is the case, I want to make it clear that nothing that I have said thus far herein is to be taken as permanent or unmovable; just as fan chatter. That said, I feel like I did a pretty succinct job of hitting the nail on the head, because I frankly love the concept and, moreover, the folks behind this project. Good luck, Sailor and Co. I expect impressive things from y'all, and I don't think that I'll be disappointed.
  4. The types of system-based MOCs that I tend to see on here are pretty homogeneous, but this is relatively unique; not only is it a solid interpretation of a Warhammer fig, but its a nice, multicolored structure that's pretty lithe and slender. Always great to see some nice variation, and of course your work is as good as usual.
  5. Welcome to BZPower, man! Yeah, the current experimentation with Star Wars isn't enough for constraction, even if said experiments are much greater than those that were being tried by designers in the later years of Gen. 1. Right now, the medium is in serious need of new fans. As far as specific characters are concerned, I'd love to see The Flash and an updated Batman at some point; those two characters could really benefit from the system. Doctor Strange would also be a nice game-changer.
  6. You know that you're doing something impressive if you're getting featured over a month after your post. Without a doubt, this is breathtaking, like something out of the art book with the emotions that it dredges up. This is sheer awesome for a fan who was pretty disappointed with the conduct of G2's storyline, despite the immense potential that always existed. To be honest, I went ahead and accidentally clicked the wrong button when voting in the art final for the recent The Legend Continues contest, but I meant to vote for this. Very nice.
  7. Here's to the one day each year that I get to admire those little post count graphics under every member's profile. Seriously, though the mood is light; you guys have done a ton for the fandom, and I have every reason to believe that you will continue to do so. Happy sweet sixteenth, BZPower!
  8. There's a legitimate level of polish to this animation, and I appreciate it quite a bit, particularly in light of the number of animators working with constraction LEGO nowadays. As the others have said, the camera stability and angles are crucial variables to get down; additionally, your work may benefit from greater variation in the style of shots, including some wider and closer shots at appropriate times. You might want to consider a chromakey-inserted background as well; just a couple of thoughts. Nice job on the finished product; you just earned yourself another subscriber.
  9. With respect to all of the finalists, I decided on The End of Time, SkullKid's submission, after reading a little bit of all of these. His was on of the ones that I was seriously invested in reading due to the level of thrills and the intense nature of the stakes, especially after that twist at the end. Clinging to the Bones was also fantastic, and frankly makes me wish that I could vote for two. Freaky story.
  10. Man, I love all of these; I really do. But I accidentally voted for one that wasn't #5, and I'm going to be kicking myself for it for a while now.
  11. As far as the authenticity of the instructions that Planetperson linked to, I've definitely seen those before, and they're second-hand; the description says as much. It's possible that they're entirely accurate, but I feel like it would be great to find an authentic version, assuming one exists. If not, then I would consider indexing it in the spreadsheet; currently, mine only lists ones that are unequivocally guaranteed to be firsthand.
  12. Awesome; thank you. Just to double check, we know that all of these images belong to the original creators, right?
  13. I appreciate you posting those; however, I won't be using them because we already had the instructions to Tobduk, and because the Spinner "instructions" weree not made by the original creator. If you want to check the spreadsheet for the ones that we don't have, then that would be awesome.
  14. I can give Scholastic a shot, but I'm planning on shooting TLG themselves an email first, especially because the former seems a lot less likely to have saved any images.
  15. Welcome to BZPower, dude! If you have any questions, just ask.

  16. Yeah, that's kind of the consistent thing there. I'm 99% sure that I found ToM Dracone's Brickshelf gallery of the original Melding Teridax, but it's going to be way harder to track down people like Sarah Newkirk or Cody Fullmer.
  17. I seriously appreciate your effort, man. Though the Mr. Harvey in question may not have the model assembled, there's a decent chance that he'll remember some of the torso. As far as finding or creating a set of instructions for Miserix is concerned, it's definitely possible; there's always a possibility. Unfortunately, the model is incredibly large and only exists to the public as a single image photographed in low quality at a very poor angle. Further, I have never heard from a single person who has a clue who Sarah Newkirk, the model's designer, is or was. I certainly believe that it's possible, but I also know that there have been serious attempts to find her in the past. That's fantastic. I'll try to contact him about the model, but bear in mind that his brother Nathaniel allegedly co-designed the model with him. I went ahead and PMed GreenBioGuy, a member here on BZP who allegedly designed Spinner. He hasn't been active in a long time, but I don't know his real name, so there isn't much of an alternative.
  18. A few nights ago, someone mentioned "Krana-Kal", which I immediately misheard as Kraata-Kal. Pretty soon, I was examining the list of Dark Hunters, most of which were, of course, canonized via TLG-sponsored building contests. Frankly, even though Kraata-Kal isn't particuarly great, I'd really love to build some of these. The fact, however, is that very few of these models have corresponding instructions. Most of them are seriously blurry, or created by folks who are no longer involved in the fandom - or both. However, I suspect that bringing the entire BZP community together to try to find some of the original creators may be fruitful, within the bounds of our ability to contact people. Perhaps there are even some long-lost instructions out there. Obviously, there are a few that we pretty much have no chance of finding, such as the instructions to Miserix; that said, while combing through the BS01 records, oru chances of finding or making the manuals for some look pretty good. I've thrown together a google spreadsheet outlining some of the basic information that might help with tracking some of these down; all the info is from BS01 or a little research on the BZP names of some creators. Here it is. As far as I know, none of the models listed on the spreadsheet have public instructions; if they do, please correct me. Good luck! -Azani
  19. It's phenomenal to see that these exist, particularly as theses appear to be reformatted to optimize forlayout and spacing, while Cross-Wired-Freak's attempt was literally just a series of scans. Thank you, man. As far as legality goes, they're technically not falling within what's allowed, but it shouldn't be too much of a concern. Neither does jaywalking.
  20. So, I picked up both of the latest Star Wars ulrabuilds at my local Target a couple of days ago. Here's a let's build/review of the Stormtrooper Commander for anyone who's interested!
  21. Maybe I'm just not on here too often, but I'm 99.9% sure that there haven't been 275 users online at BZP in four or five months.

    1. Toa Imrukii

      Toa Imrukii

Yeah, that was an odd occurrence. My best estimate is that there is a steady amount of active member at only given time, between 20 - 32.

  22. Are we allowed to rework a fanfic that has originallly been published in partial form elsewhere (by us, of course)? EDIT: My apologies, I have now read the rules in full.
  23. I'd be interested in the brown, blue, and green Akakus. Are they all pretty smooth as far as texture or scratches is concerned? If I could get a price estimate, then that would be great.
  24. See, I can understand concern over BZP's status and level of relevancy in the community as much as the next guy; the site has seen better days for sure. That said, I'm pretty confident that BZP's specialized focus and close affiliation with TLG will keep it above some random subreddit for a while. And if they do grow more successful, what's wrong with that?
