  1. Vezon's cape was his way of compensating for the lack of Skakdi spines. (I have no idea if that's actually true, but it seems that way to me). Since he had no scary awesome spikes all over his arms and back, he needed to find another way to look disturbingly terrifying, hence why he got himself an epic cape of evilness.
  2. I've see a few arguments against this, but think we still need to update the front page, though. Back in BZ's hayday, it was great, and it's nostalgic now, but it isn't going to bring in many new fans. I think when the new Bionicle comes out, we need to update it with images of the new Bionicle, so that new fans will actually recognise it for what it is. I daresay that new fans who don't even know Bionicle lasted a decade before HF will look at our frontpage and be confused by all of the unfamiliar imagery with the name Bionicle on top. Plus, I'm pretty sure someone said that the front page is horribly out of date and a weak spot if someone tried to hack us. If that is the case, and Bionicle makes this site a big focal point for discussion again, then there's a higher incentive for trolls to try and hack us. Let's avoid that problem, shall we? I still argue against a reboot. It has to be either a stylised continuation (time-skip?) or a retelling of some kind (probably unofficially set in an alternate universe).
  3. In terms of vehicles, I don't think Hero Factory has anything that could take on the Skopio or Thornatus on the ground, or the Axalara or Jetrax in the air. I think, no matter how you look at it, Bionicle has the advantage in every possible way. I think it's time the factory Heroes looked at retiring, cuz the new/old heroes are back.
  4. Canon or not, Vezon's cape was cool. If he gets brought back he needs a new cape. Personally, I'm wondering if Karzahni's cape was canon. It didn't strike me as being very practical, considering he was underwater. And yes, the CCBS needs to be tweaked to be more Bionicley. I think they need to bring back some of the technic-style armour plates, some of which are campatible with the CCBS already. Kalmah's armour plates, for example, can still be attached to the CCBS sets, and some of the others too. And this is more of a personal thing, but I want the masks to still be able to attack to the front of the face... like masks should. And the heads need to have actual faces, too. Lego's been getting kind of lazy with head design of late, just look at the Brain Attack heads (no faces underneath), so I think the best we're going to get is something more akin to the Av-Matoran heads, which is better than nothing, I guess...
  5. The hype powder-keg will explode into a supernova of hype. A HYPERNOVA!!! I read an interesting comment on LMB that I thought was worth sharing, since I entirely agree with it. They said if Bionicle came back next year, they didn't want the Toa Mata to be the heroes every year, like in HF, because that would get very boring very quickly. I completely agree with this. Part of the reason I went of HF was because I was tired of buying slightly modified versions of the same heroes all the time (albeit that was a very small part of the reason; I'm not a massive HF fan). I think part of the reason Bionicle was so successful was because the heroes did change so often. Even if we did have the same heroes two years in a row, they still wound up being very different to what they were like the year before. Case in point: the Toa Nuva had a lot more armour, different weapons and very differently shaped masks to the Toa Mata. The Toa Hordika looked entirely unlike their Toa Metru forms (and their Turaga forms, if you want to take those into account). Same with the Inika and Mahri. When the Bionicle characters changed shapes and looks, they really changed. The constant evolution of the sets and continual development of the characters to adapt to different situations was a big reason why I remained interested in Bionicle throughout its duration. If offered something new and unique each year, rather than recycling the same stale old builds and characters all of the time. I know some people will disagree with me, but... meh. It's just my opinion. You don't have to agree with it if you don't want to.
  6. Welcome to BZ. ___________________________ Am I the only one who's just getting blown away by the number of new members/old fans becoming part of our community solely due to this rampant rumour about Bionicle's return? Someone said somewhere that so long as there's one fan left Bionicle has a chance of coming back, but I'm seeing a whole lot more than just one fan. BIONICLE 2015!!!
  7. I think it was a simple design feature. They built Makuta's head one way, but for the sake of people who wanted to MOC and customise, they added a second option to fit a normal head shape. What I've always wondered is why the heck they made Makuta's mask in the movies look so ridiculously different to the either version of the one in the sets for no apparent reason.
  8. Set wise, 2007 onwards, when the builds became a lot more diverse and sophisticated. Story wise, I'd say the same time frame. 2007+
  9. Hero Factory have technology going or them... which would b great, except Bionicle has equally powerful technology, plus the power to control the elements themselves, plus epic mask powers. Any Bionicle against any hero, my money's on the Bionicle. I would argue that most Matoran are resourceful enough to take down a HF hero. Just smile, be friendly, walk up to them and rip their not-so-heroic core out of their chest. Bionicle wins hands down in every way.
  10. The Nuva lost to the Piraka because they didn't know what they were up against. They'd never faced opponents like them before. The Piraka were clever and resourceful and devious. All in all, they were a pretty good team of villains. I hope Bio 2015 gives us something similar, perhaps a group of the old story's surviving villains teaming up, like the remaining Barraki working with TSO or something like that, with Velika and the Golden Being as well, just for fun.
  11. Except he doesn't actually have a mask. According to BS01, he actually absorbed the Olmak's power. But, keeping to the spirit of your idea, what if Vezon were to absorb the mask of Time and become a reality warping god himself? That would be both amusing and terrifying? Brutaka would probably get annoyed and either kill them all, or ditch them. Vezon can travel through time and space, albeit he can't control it. That's still a power. Lesovikk... I don't know why everyone says he's crazy. Nothing I've read about him seems to indicate he's actually insane. Karzahni was insane. Vezon is truly insane. But Lesovikk doesn't come across that way. Yes, he's vicious, yes he seems willing to break the Toa code (although he hasn't actually done it yet), but he doesn't seem insane to me. Sahmad doesn't need powers to be awesome. He killed Annona, a creature that predated the GBs (even if he did have help, it's still epic). Metus isn't really the backstabbing type. Not in the way Takadox is, at least. Matus would probably spend all of his time playing the others off agaisnt each other and trying to broker dodgy deals to save his own skin. But he does have a lot of people who want him dead, so perhaps he might try his best to stay on everyone's good side. (One of Tuma's last orders to Stronius was to kill Metus if anything happened to him in the battle). Ahkmou didn't really do much backstabbing, he just sided with whoever he thought had the best chance of winning. According to BS01, he's now trying to suck up to the Glatorian, to keep on their good side. I wish him luck with that. Takadox: He might do a bit of backstabbing, but more likely he'll hypnotise the others into backstabbing each other. Or perhaps he'll sell them out to TSO. He's very good at selling people out to other people. But... You may have a point. This is a terrible team... Which is why it must happen! I think he ditched the wagon somewhere during the course of the Sahmad's Tale podcast. I completely forgot about Vezon being the Toa of Anarchy. It actually suits his character, too. If he becomes a set once more, that's what they should market him as. "Vezon, Toa of Anarchy."
  12. Time skip to the future, with TSO, Barraki, Velika, Marendar and the Baterra being the main villains across a several year period, taking turns to threaten the city of New Atero. No need to complicate things with too much backstory, but at least we get to keep our favourite old villains around.
  13. That team would be so awkward that it could be cool to see. EDIT : Brutaka could fit in that team as well, unless he's still controlled by the antidermis http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Brutaka So far as I can tell, the antidermis no longer controls him. He's also trapped with Vezon in that same fortress that Velika is about to blow up. They can escape the explosion and team up together to get back at Velika. And I agree, that team up would be hilariously awkward. It must become canon!
  14. I have a feeling that Lego might retcon the incomplete serials, or perhaps let Greg finish them off, and then skip a period of time to make the old MU storyline largely irrelevant. I doubt they'll finish off the Red Star arc, and all of that stuff, although they might still let Velika blow up the Great Being's fortress to kill off Tuyet, Artakha, and all of the other wildcard characters who were inside, just to tie up the loose ends they represented. I think they'll start an indeterminate amount of time in the future, with th united groups of Matoran and Agori, toa and Glatorian and everyone else thriving peacefully in new Atero, only to be threatened by various evils, probably the Barraki, TSO's Dark Hunter's, Stronius' Skrall remnant, or perhaps even the Baterra. I'm sort of hoping they keep Marendar and Velika as part of the story as well, but only time will tell for sure.
  15. There actually seem to be a lot of morally ambiguous anti-hero characters in the Bionicle universe, if you think about it. I think there should be a year where they get to be the heroes instead of one of the usual Toa teams. You've got Takadox, Lesovikk, Vezon, and I think Sahmad counts as well. Maybe they should team up with Metus and Ahkmou to take down Velika? Cuz, why not?
  16. I hope Takadox makes a comeback, but I don't think he'll wind up being the main villain, at least not straight away. He'll probably wind up siding with a more powerful enemy and perhaps stabbing them in the back given the chance. I see Takadox as a bit of a Starscream style character, since he apparently can't work with anyone without betraying them at some point or another, if it benefits him. From where the story left off, I could potentially see Takadox offering his services to TSO, but if that is the case, he probably wouldn't make the mistake of trying to betray someone who could disintegrate him with a single wayward glance. Unless he were to, for example, use his hypnosis ability to make some members of TSO's larger army turn against him... I guess my overall point is that Takadox doesn't have the resources at the moment to be a major player. He would need to gather an army, or overthrow someone else who already has one, before he could step up as a major villain. This is made more difficult when you consider that the other four surviving Barraki already have armies, and would likely send those armies to kill Takadox if they so much as heard rumours about his location. I'd say that would go double for Mantax.
  17. This was what I was getting at many pages back. Lego only needs vital info to be given to new fans so the story makes sense, and if they want more, well, Biosector is there for them. Exactly. What happened during the past within the MU isn't vital to understanding the new story. They don't have to reference Makuta or the Giant Robots, just give brief vague background like. The Great Spirit Mata Nui defeated his evil brother and freed the people of two universes from the machinations of a tyrannic warlord, and now hibernates within the Great Mask of Life until the world need him once more... Then introduce basic facts about old characters as needed. Eg: Ahkmou once served Mata Nui's evil brother but is now an outcast. Takanuva was once a Matoran until he became the powerful Toa of Light. The Skrall are a race of powerful warriors but scattered across the desert after their leader was beaten by Mata Nui. The Baterra were created by the Great Beings to end an old war, but instead ran rampant. Etc, etc. You see where I'm going with this. I think we've had quite enough of "shadow is always evil" for one decade. I think Lego needs to focus on a more diverse group of villains, like a rogue Toa team, perhaps using those lesser-known Toa powers that never really featured in the main story all that much. Because of the Makuta betrayal, shadow has always been seen as this malevolent evil element within the bionicle universe. A lot of the major villains had a black colour scheme. But shadow itself isn't evil. It isn't corrupt or malicious or whatever. It was the people who used it who were corrupt, and cruel and evil. Shadow itself was just one more of the many elements created to give balance to the MU. I think we should have a good Toa of shadow, or perhaps a villain who uses the power of light, just to turn the whole preconceived concept on its head. This is new era of Bionicle, so let's mix things up a little. Why not?
  18. According to recent Greg answers, they were freed when the Golden Being temporarily lost his power in Sahmad's tale. Oh yeah, I remember reading that somewhere. Oh well, my original idea still stands. There are a good twentyish Toa who haven't been introduced. Some of them can go rogue. Or perhaps, if Velika doesn't blow her up, Tuyet could rally some of them in an attempt to build a Toa Empire (similar to what the alternate version of her had in Metru Nui in Dark Mirror) on Spherus Magna. That way, we feasibly could get a civil war like what Willess12 describes, with the Glatorian/Agori fighting the Toa/Matoran, since they wouldn't trust them anymore. And then Tuyet might actually be useful to the storyline.
  19. Capar is dead though. I personally hope that the new main villain(s) is/are something/someone completely different, something/someone we haven't seen before. Basically I would love to see a new main baddie, but having help from or using the old baddies, like TSO, the Skakdi, etc., as servants or grunts. That way Lego can get Bionicle a fresh new story somewhat and not have the new fans rely on old information on these really fleshed out characters. I dont know, I think they would want to avoid that. While I still want the old baddies to return as a threat, I imagine Lego would try to not complicate the start/revival of a new returning theme (that ended for being too "complicated") by making the main villains the old baddies with complicated background stories. By the way, sorry if my paragraph up here is sorta difficult to understand. No, it all made sense. I get what you're saying, but: If they had TSO and the Barraki following the orders of someone else, it wouldn't be very true to their characters. After being helpless to stop Makuta taking over their entire universe, they've all kind of gone off the rails. All they want to do is conquer and rebuild their old empires. And I don't think the 100,000 years worth of backstory is entirely necessary to understanding their characters. Lego can just go and say "these are this year's bad guys" and give a brief introduction of their characters: TSO is the leader of a mercanary group called the Dark Hunters. The Barraki are four warlords working together to build a massive united empire. Takadox is a sniveling traitor whose prone to compulsive backstabbing syndrome... The old fans will know all of the extra background and be able to further understand their characters, but really, their past actions aren't going to have a massive impact on the new story, I don't think. Think about Annona, the creepy Tren Krom-esque villain of Sahmad's Tale. We didn't really find out much about her before she was wiped out by a Dues Ex Machina from the Golden Being. I would actually like it if they used at least one of the named Toa. And it would have to be one that everyone was attached to and considered a honorable Toa. That way, the entire community would feel a sense of betrayal and malice towards them. However this would not be like that stunt Vakama pulled off. They would stay evil until their demise, if there is one. I know that it would seem to be disrespectful to their character, but it would be very nice to finally feel a strong amount of emotion toward one figure. Oh, and to emphasize on the feeling of betrayal, they would not become evil because of some sort of corruption. It would be on their own accord. However it would only work for one character from a Toa team. If you had the entire six of them turn, then that would ruin the effect. Well, the Mahri may or may not still be under the control of the Golden Being/Piraka Fusion/Whatever-the-heck-it-is. If they keep that bizarre character around, then there's still the option for having evil Toa without actually having any of them turn truly evil. Well, there's only forty-something Toa left, according to Biosector01, and only about half of those are known named characters. It's not too unfeasible to imagine a team of six Toa from that fortyish deciding to go rogue and do their own thing. Toa Mata versus rogue Toa would make for an interesting year's worth of storyline. (And bonus plot twist - Marendar shows up in the end and wipes out the rogue Toa, thus becoming that year's hero and the next year's villain as well!) ALL HAIL THE NEW GREG! Seriously though, I wanna see that now. XD Wait... are you calling me the new Greg?
  20. Well, in the movie, Tuma did threaten to rip the mask from his face. Mata Nui should have just let himself be beaten, then let Tuma curse himself trying to pull the mask off. Then he could have used the mask to repair his own body and got back up while laughing uncontrollably at Tuma. Best. Ending. Ever.
  21. Pridak, Kalmah, Eehlek and Mantax all have armies. Takadox is scurrying around somewhere probably trying not to get himself killed. Knowing his history, he'll probably try to ally himself with the most powerful person he can find he won't immediately trying to kill him - probably our old off-the-rails friend The Shadowed One, who is also building an army out of the surviving Dark Hunters, rogue Skakdi and Vortixx, the Bone Hunters, and some of the Skrall Remnant. If Bionicle 2015 is a continuation, even a time-skipped one, I'm putting my money on TSO and the Barraki being the main villains, whether they end up working together or fighting separately remains to be seen.
  22. Okay, so the only working Olmak is the one that... has been absorbed by a maniacal Skakdi. That's not very reassuring... _______________ This first surfaced on LMB a few days ago. If you look at the set availability on this page, it now includes 2015 in the list. It happened a few days ago and got removed, but now it's back, still with no citation to prove it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bionicle I'm definitely not calling this evidence of a return, but it does show how hyped people are getting about Bionicle's potential (not yet actually confirmed by Lego, but we're confident it's back) return.
  23. This is my whole issue with our policy. Especially because Lego's boards are screened by Moderators before allowing posts through. The fact that they're moderated and still let leaks be discussed is extremely frustrating, when we have to abound by a set of rules no one else seems to have to follow, that Lego itself doesn't seem to enforce either. Lego doesn't need to worry about Lego cutting off Lego's benefits from Lego. That bizarre and strangely confusing statement does carry a valid point. But has Lego actually ever threatened to remove our "privileges" if we discuss leaks. If they have, let me know and I'll stop prolonging this argument. Otherwise, I still see no real definitive reason why our policy is so harsh. Lego doesn't need to worry about Lego cutting off Lego's benefits from Lego. If a competitor of Lego goes to Lego's own message boards to wade through all the kiddy messages just to figure out better ways to compete with Lego, then I must admire their fortitude of spirit. If, in their search, they also decide to trawl here, of all places, they are insane. I don't see why rival companies would even bother going to us or the Lego forums to find out stuff about the leaks. They can just Google "Bionicle 2015" and the leaks shall all be laid out before them. I don't think us discussing the leaks will really contribute to a rival company finding anything out.
  24. I agree with your point about Tuma. He was more of the mastermind/strategist behind the operations, and I suppose that his extra height and size and heavy armour would have meant that he wouldn't have needed to be as skilled a fighter - he would have won through brute strength alone, and his armour would have blocked most incoming blows from a more agile opponent. It was only his unfortunate run-in with those Baterra that left him open to attack, and Mata Nui only needed one bit of Ackar's advice to exploit that rather convenient weakness. I think if it weren't for that injury, things might have gone very differently.
  25. I read that final 2008 comic and I completely lost it. I laughed, I cried, and then I reread the last few pages in Makuta's voice just for fun. I couldn't believe how much of an evil genius Teridax really was. He'd taken over the entire universe. It was then that I fully appreciated the full enormity of Makuta's master plan. He forsaw every possibility, every alternative, and played events so that no matter what happened, he still won. He is easily the most manipulative evil villain I have ever encountered in any work. Ever. To this day.
