  1. I thought I would like the Von Nebula villains, but in the movie, they get defeated at the end by *running out of ammo*?!?!?! I mean honestly, they're twice the size of the heroes, and yet they go down like nine pins by *unarmed* heroes. Honestly....
  2. I like it. I'm really glad about the fact that the Kanohi won't drain your elemental energy anymore... especially when you're using a really power draining mask like the Kraahkan... but yeah, I'm all for it.
  3. I love that quote also, but I'm pretty certain that it was first said by Garan, leader of the Voya Nui Resistance Team, in Bionicle Legends #2. You are right, Garan did say it first, but it was in Legends #1. And Jaller echoed them at the very *very* end of that book when he was just about to leave to rescue the Nuva.
  4. I'm afraid to ask but... how did you come to this conclusion? This post helped... If Velika is going to put himself in as Ruler of SM though, I'm not 100% sure that he would want to reveal himself as a GB. So he might want to use the "speaking in riddles" tactic again - and beings who dislike that as opposed to being intrigued could be a problem. Even if he does, he will likely want to make an example of some Matoran to avoid opposition. A Matoran who disliked him before he came to power would be a good choice - avoid a potential revolutionary leader. Oh... that. lol yeah I kinda walked right into that one lol And you may have a point, though I always saw Kazi's and Velika's relationship more like "friendly rivals" each just jibbing each other, almost competitively. But of course that could easily be wrong since Velika probably never was a real "friend" to those matoran, since he would consider himself above them, and them just as a means to an end.
  5. I personally thought it looked more like a Hau. Yeah, plus it was bright red, so that completed more of the Hau look. But it did look cool with all the gadgets sticking out of it. I once used it for a MOC and gave that character a cool power for it (can't remember exactly what it was), but it looked really cool. (plus I have used the metallic grey Vezon heads that came with the set for other characters. Totally epic)
  6. And plus, Axxon and Brutaka got really cool masks powers, and they were the first non matoran characters we get as sets to have mask powers. I guess I was expecting a bit too much from Hydraxon. (Well, Umbra didn't get a mask power to go with his Ruru, but he was OP anyways lol)
  7. So I'm a huge Hydraxon fan, and I was so pumped when I saw that both he and Maxilos came with new "kanohi". Or so I thought. I was so eager to read about them in the comics/books, etc and find out what new mask powers that they would have, but then I found out that they weren't Kanohi, but just powerless helmets. So, that left Hydraxon not having any powers at all, but only used weapons to fight (which I admit, is very cool). Yes Maxilos got OP because he got possessed by Makuta, and of course he's only a robot, and it makes sense that he wouldn't have a mask power. But Hydraxon? I was at least hoping that the jailer of the Pit would get a cool mask power, especially when he was given a new "mask" shape for his set. Did anyone else feel this way about those two?
  8. I'm afraid to ask but... how did you come to this conclusion?
  9. Some of the masks appear to accommodate for that fact, such as the original Kaukau since it didn't include eye holes, it would give the best peripheral vision methinks. Though others like the Akaku with those built in telescopes... those would definitely hinder that part of your vision lol But I agree about the masks being most likely very close to their faces. At least they appeared to be that way in the movies etc.
  10. Orrr while we're on the topic of Velika.... "Of what use is the roof against the rains, if there are no walls to tide the flood" Kazi- "That does it!!! If anyone wants me I will be back in the village where they *don't* speak in riddles." Favourite exchange between those two. Oh Kazi, you had no idea who you were dealing with...
  11. Oh! I forgot about the Kinloka... not exactly a set, but you could build it using the Metru Nui Matoran, and it is rather fun thinking them going through the city like a plague of locust, eating anything in sight lol, now that would be a menace to be reckoned with.
  12. To be honest, the destruction of the Bohrok-Kal scared me silly. I had recently joined the Lego Club magazine that year, so I officially "started" paying attention to BIONICLE during the time of the Kal. To see all of them just literally being torn apart or crushed completely and so suddenly, it freaked me out lol though I was a lot younger then haha...
  13. Maybe because they were the cheapest? lol
  14. I never owned any of the 2001 Rahi, but of all of them I liked the Muaka and Kane-Ra set. I always found it odd that they made a "tiger" and a "bull" so similar set wise, but they looked cool lol Other than that, going slightly away from the choices you picked, the best I think was the Kardas Dragon. Sure it was a creation of the Mask of Life, but it still counts as a Rahi lol, and hey, who wouldn't like their own personal dragon that never runs out of energy to throw at your enemies?
  15. Sit by the firelight's glow, tell us an old tale we know. Tell of adventures strange and rare, never to change, ever to share. Stories we tell will cast their spell, now and for always

  16. I once read that they can, somewhat surprisingly. A Matoran, as well as a Toa or a Turaga, can die of old age, though they typically live many times the length of a human lifespan. Takua/Takanuva, who is over 100,000 years old, doesn't show any signs of old age such as physical infirmity or senility (Imagine if he did and the Turaga didn't... that would be hilarious) The point at which a Matoran is at risk of dying purely from old age is clearly above the 100,000 year mark. They can die of old age, but it would take a very, very long time. If it is correct as we've theorized that metal parts can just be replaced and that the organic protodermis can regrow itself from scratch (as with the Toa Mata's muscle tissue), then you'd be hard pressed to find any part of a Matoran that seems as old as they actually are. They'd have to wear out their organic generator parts, and if those parts can just be replaced... Or they can be attacked by Voporak, that's the quickest way to die of old age haha
  17. I like it. Looks very cool, though with Makuta's mask, I always loved his "flipped" version of it better, because it looked more sinister, but that's just my opinion there. All in all, it's a good matchup.
  18. And who gives half a Tarakava toenail about him!? ....... I do, thanks for mentioning because I forgot that part about Zaria Aww I liked Zaria personally. I was so into the new Toa they introduced, which was why I wasn't too happy when they left the story hanging like that. So much potential...
  19. Really? Huh, on well, I got that info from biosector01, which said that it was placed in a "far southern part of the matoran universe" And it was said that Voya Nui drifted a bit before the chord "anchored" it, so in my mind it made perfect sense to have it that far south. It couldn't have been directly next to Voya Nui, because when the Toa Mahri broke the chord, Voya Nui traveled quite a distance to return home, (or so it seems in the books, it seemed to lead the Toa on a merry chase, with the Barraki close behind.) So yeah... That would be referring to the far southern part of the known MU (known to most of the inhabitants); the legs were largely unknown to them. Unless the person who wrote that wording was confused. And it did not at all travel a big distance on the scales you're talking about -- the Toa Mahri were able to quickly swim the distance. Keep in mind the height of the robot is comparable to Earth; if they had to cross from the legs/feet to the abdomen (or especially chest, if that's where the SC is), it would probably have taken many days at the least. Instead it appears to have covered only a few miles and took only a few minutes. And VN could have drifted in a looping current so it never left the basic area where it first entered the ocean. For the record, it drifted for a lot longer than a bit, though -- 700 years, a sizeable majority of the Dark Time millenium between the Great Cataclysm and story-present. Fair enough. I stand corrected.
  20. But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone... so I watch the summer sky to lead me home.

  22. You're correct it did break off the Southern Continent with the Great Cataclysm happened. So yes, it broke through Mata Nui's chest when he landed on Aqua Magna, and floated to the top of the sea. Then the active volcano created the chord, which connected to the ocean shore to keep it from floating away. When the chord was severed, the Toa Nuva were using the Staff of Artahka which they were supposed to use to help awaken Mata Nui, which "fixed" everything that was inside of the robot. The power of that staff caused Voya Nui to sink back into where it belonged. Once it was back inside the hole in Mata Nui's chest was fixed. Before that, the hole let sea water drain through into the robot, and down into Karda Nui, which is what created that swamp. The water then mixed with the core's energy, which gave the water its mutating properties, both in Karda Nui and the Pit. As as far as the Pit is concerned, it is located inside the southernmost part of the robot, (most likely near or in his feet) and it was shattered during the Great Cataclysm. The Pit members broke out, and they were subsequently mutated by the afore mentioned waters of Aqua Magna (which was also called the Pit because the prisoners were "trapped" there also, so they viewed it as another jail.
  23. That is so cool! so jealous right now... looks amazing with that Pakari, fits the Onua look perfectly... wow... just wow
  24. Nuparu and his Boxer. My parents were at first skeptical over BIONICLE, so it took me awhile to start collecting them, but I always had a fascination with gears and LEGO technic, so I was visiting the store one time, and saw the Boxer, and just had to have it, so yeah, Nuparu was the very first in my collection. The Bohrok came soon afterwards.
  25. I think it was stated that Shadow Matoran can't be naturally made, that the only way to achieve that status was to drain a normal matoran of their light. Now, if a bunch of Makuta put their heads together, maybe just maybe they might think of a way to make one naturally, but it would be a totally new phenomenon, because up to a certain point there weren't any shadow matoran ever, until the Makuta invented the shadow leeches. But I doubt that the Makuta would take the time, it's so much simpler to capture already existing Matoran and drain them of their light than create brand new matoran.
