  1. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "I haven't either," Lucid lamented. "Legend says its hallowed lines hid the truth about the universe, but sadly it seems to have been lost to time as far as I can tell... I was hoping one as learned as yourself might recognize it."
  2. IC: Lucid / Courtyard Lucid nodded, impressed. "It may be," she agreed. "There is much truth to legends that is often overlooked... Have you read the legend of Toa Denshu?"
  3. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "Yes, something like that..." Lucid agreed. "The question is, where does that come from? What is it made of?" She tapped her head thoughtfully. "As for the day of the week, how can you be sure the world did not come into being in its current state this morning? Maybe it's actually never been Tuesday before."
  4. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze An unexpected ambush - from Rahi! "Thurisaz, at your service," the nimble noble answered Sim, alert and already whirling toward the paws now pounding toward him. Even as Tube lunged to his defense, he leveled his trident above his minion's shoulder at the inbound hound to fire a fierce fist of crimson-flaming kinetic energy crashing toward the Rahi's head. "Looks like we'll be fighting together right away!" Aerahk, on the roof above, was less well prepared for a sudden attack, especially one leaving even his stealth no longer possible nor advantageous. When perceived his twin attackers he leapt furiously from his hiding spot away from them with a surprised cry, dodging one only to have the others' teeth close around his forearm. Daggers already tightly clutched, he stabbed at its eye with his free hand as he stumbled into the open by Torc and Sim. "Rahi - watch out!" he warned his (hopefully) new brothers-in-arms. * * * IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam Jayar was less immediately dismissive (perhaps as usual.) "One of the Rahkshi we traveled with split from us a while ago," he offered, considering Xara, "but they wouldn't have come in this direction. And the two others separated from us in that fight would probably have stayed together," he replied, considering the single finger. * * * IC: Lucid / Courtyard "None of the most interesting questions have answers," Lucid answered sagely. "Who built the universe? What is consciousness? Was yesterday Tuesday? There are no straight answers to any of these ancient questions, yet great value in their contemplation." * * * IC: Gaever / The Forge The mechanist hesitated, maybe this was silly. It was... no, no it wasn't. Not in this fierce world. She wanted to be confident that Phantom could protect herself. She needed, then, to feel the winds herself. "I will be all right," she assured Phantom. "This is a safe, clear area. I just think this would be the most effective test." * * * IC: Vlad / Gym Maze "I vonder if it's possible to create a solution zat vould quickly dissolve zis crystal or somethink," Vlad mused, as the slow extraction proceeded. He had encountered more than a few Rahkshi with odd predilections for chemicals and science in his time at the school. "It vould be useful for you to keep on you for vhen zis happens."
  5. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "A thoughtful response," Lucid replied with a satisfied nod. "Remember it, as you learn." Sitting before the entire group, she asked, "So, what are your names?"
  6. IC: Lucid / Courtyard Lucid had been watching Revenge and Danger idly. "New one, tell me," she asked Danger amiably, "which is greater: The earth? Or the sea?" * * * IC: Vlad / Gym Maze "Oh, right..." That did make more sense. Following Garrotte's gesture, the luminous Vorahk went to grab the gleaming weapon, and returned it to Garrotte's grasp. "Zat should help," he remarked, beginning again to chip carefully at the crystal still trapping her. * * * IC: Gaever / Forge "Yes, very good!" Gaever agreed, enthusiastic and proud. Seeing Phantom demonstrate some means of defending herself was reassuring. In the world they lived in, the world of Rahkshi, it was all to necessary... She could conceive of one more test, actually, that would satisfy her even more completely. In truth, it grew as much from curiosity as concern, but she did feel that it truly was the most effective test. She hesitated a moment, sizing up her surroundings, and took a few steps over to a relatively dull and open patch of ground. "One more experiment," she suggested, bracing herself, unsure of how uncertain she should be. "If you feel comfortable... direct the winds at me." * * * IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "Oh, most certainly," Thurisaz assured Tube. "As soon as we have grouped, we charge to battle. Your patience will be rewarded." He looked up at the rooftops, where Sim, summoned by Luffy, seemed to be moving sluggishly back toward the group. "Cooperation benefits all of us, you've really nothing to fear," he called encouragingly. It should be plainly evident, really, that this was no trick or trap; his team, cohesive under his leadership, could easily have overpowered their disunited opposite if his goal had been to do so. Not to mention Aerahk, sneaking unnoticed along the rooftops behind Sim, camouflaged and stealthy.
  7. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "I sailed wandering across summer skies lit by distant suns," Lucid began, "retracing stories of the past in sunlit forests, on shining mountains, at rivers' ends. The strength to relay memories of soft colored sunlight and an alternate view received me. Then at last I awoke refreshed."
  8. IC: Lucid / Courtyard Lucid lazily tilted her head toward Milk, eyes still closed. "Days pass as seconds, turn the key... Oh, what's that?" she inquired kindly, opening her eyes, surprisingly alert. "I must have been speaking through the dream," she guessed.
  9. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "We gather our new allies, and return to the hunt stronger," the Turahk tactician replied. "Maybe mention that we're not fighting, we struck a deal?" he graciously suggested to Luffy. Preferably, the others would join them here before they went on. * * * IC: Vlad / Gym Maze Vlad nodded dutifully. "Think you can you get started on your other arm vhile I vork on your legs?" he asked Garrotte. * * * IC: Lucid / Courtyard Although she appeared asleep, someone listening carefully could Lucid murmuring dreamily. "Out in the city, running free... sands of companions, sides that be..." she was whispering quietly. "The strength of the meeting lies with you..." * * * IC: Gaever / Forge Gaever shook her head excitedly, maybe grinning. "No, I am impressed," she assured Phantom, "no apology is necessary." She began to set up a larger pile of stones, stacked stably on top of each other, perhaps equal in mass and form factor to a Rahkshi. "Try now to knock back this entire stack," she prompted eagerly.
  10. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "I'm willing to accept my opponents' cooperation, instead of defeat," the magnanimous Turahk explained, addressing Luffy, "So in short, I'm offering you the chance to join us, and take on the most dreaded Rahkshi here. Your friend has already recognized the wisdom in such a pact, I think," he continued, nodding nobly at Booger's acknowledgement. "What about you?"
  11. IC: Gaever / Forge As Phantom continued to practice successfully Gaever was able to relax a little from dispensing deep insight and merely take an interest in the development of another Rahkshi's powers for the first time. Looking around, she found a stone about the length of her forearm, and set it on the ground balanced upright. "Perhaps attempt to knock this over?" she suggested. OOC: Thurisaz waiting on Paladin and Luffy, maybe Sim too.
  12. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "Certainly," With gracious glee the chiseled champion lowered his trident, if not his guard, and stepped to stand beside Booger with svelte satisfaction. "Hold!" he commanded the combatants, indicating Booger. "I have the promise of an agreement: our reprieve, and their support." Aerahk, on the rooftop, recieved Thurisaz' order with the mildest skepticism - the Turahk knew what he was doing, certainly. But he maintained his position, ready to catch Sim if he had to.
  13. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "Gradually, you understand," the crimson conqueror commended, circling Booger like a ruby-red Muaka, every sculpted muscle tensed for action. "Frankly, counting Prefects and all, we have fiercer teams to defeat." He flicked his head in the direction of the roar of battle blowing, some distance away. "Submit your support against those, and we could put off our confrontation."
  14. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze With Luffy crashing crudely into his leg Thurisaz went into a graceful spin, landing soft and catlike beside Booger. "Such camaraderie!" Still grinning, he flung Booger's club, blunt missile, off the ground beside him toward Luffy's head, and sprung stabbing his trident lightning-like at Booger's shoulder.
  15. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "And what would you offer for my help?" Thurisaz suggested shrewdly, leaping gracefully up over Booger's clumsy kick, "your team's allegiance? your own VIP?" In his descent he kicked down at Booger's midsection, channeling his entire momentum through one meteoric foot.
  16. It's up to you. Lots of characters have reappeared after long absences when their players did the same. But I could also understand preferring to start over, jump back in with someone new.
  17. Scorp and I have been busy for a few weeks, but we're getting back in the swing of things now! It's good to be back. Thurisaz is a lot of fun to fight with.
  18. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze "Revenge on who, Poetic One?" Thurisaz inquired, intrigued, as his enraged opponent was turning his back to Tube and the two bolts from Thornpierce bearing down on him. "Should we put this confrontation off to aid you?" Laughing brightly, the fiery attacker danced clear back a step as the prongs of his trident burst forward, swift as arrows - and aimed right through his mid-lunge attacker's open abdomen.
  19. IC: Vlad / Gym Maze "Vell, ve vere somevhat lucky," Vlad responded. "I happened to attack zer right person right avay, unt zey vere... not very good at it. But I guess ve did okay..." He recalled again Kri's odd behavior, before pushing that aside to focus on the less confusing task at hand, freeing Garrotte's hand. "It's almost zere," he assessed, pausing his mild mining as the material between the hand and his blade grew thin, "see if you can break free now."
  20. IC: Vlad / Gym Vlad did not need to be reminded. He was already terrified, on top of everything else, of slipping and cutting his friend's hand, and his efforts were cautious and deliberate. "Of course. I vould not vant you injured now," he agreed, not quite shakily. * * * IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam "The story of our lives, essentially," the healer murmured. Nothing ever went smoothly for the New Breed... "Well, can we help you to deal with them?" * * * IC: Lucid / Courtyard Lucid, at some point, had fallen asleep in a flower bed in the Courtyard. Someone was bound to notice her there soon.
  21. IC: Vlad / Gym Maze Vlad wavered for a moment. He worried that if he tried to help he would break down, lose control and loose his powers on the trapped Garrotte. He could do it... he could even knock her unconscious, and bring her back to the others saying he found her that way... Ah! Why had that even occurred to him!? He shook his head, as if to disturb dark birds of prey perched upon it, and knelt beside Garrotte. Holding his axe in two hands, one close to the blade for control, he began to chip away at the crystal around her trapped hand, intending to free it first.
  22. Morpheme is approved! We are curious whether that three-bladed spear is a trident or more of a t shape, but either way works. Looking forward to seeing her in the halls of Corpus Rahkshi!
  23. As others have said, the armor on this guy works really well, clearly conveying a protective layer more than just a different color. Despite the painful wrist connection, I also like the compact hand design a lot. Also, your photography and editing has gotten really good! Excellent work.
  24. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Maze The cerise assailant nimbly twirled away from the path of the swinging club and out from Luffy's strike, dancing into position beside Booger opposite Luffy, sweeping his trident down toward the back of his bludgeon - near the hilt - with a hurricane's devastating grace, disarming force. "Your teammates are in bad form!" he proclaimed, "they're both abandoning you!" He surged sideways with aim to slam strongly into Booger with a sturdy shoulder. Aerahk, still on the rooftop above, had also noted Sim's retreat. With trained stealth, he slipped away from his position covering Thurisaz - the lordly Turahk was in capable claws, not least his own, he judged - and crept along the rooftops stealthily following Sim. When his opponent grappled into a building, he stole lightly into a position hidden just behind the door to the roof, listening carefully for any movements of his adversary below and preparing a dagger to meet them accordingly.
  25. OOC: I have seen Booger's response, I'm waiting to post Thurisaz until I see what Paladin does IC: Vlad / Gym Maze Lying on the ground a short distance away was Kri's butterfly knife. Vlad knelt to retrieve it. When this dark assignment ended, he decided, he would return it to the poor Rahkshi, and apologize for his actions. It wasn't atonement, exactly, but making sure the knife found its way back to Kri was a good start. He left Liar's razor disk where it was. The quiet was broken be the faint sound of Garrotte's voice from one of the adjacent buildings, a distant plea for help. Was she hurt? He swept briskly into the building, pounding up the stairs to search for his friend. Eventually he found her on the ground enveloped in crystalline green. "Are you alright?" he asked, concerned. He didn't see any blood or oddly-bent limbs, but it could be hard to tell. * * * IC: Gaever / Outside Forge Gaever clasped her hands together, tentatively fascinated. "Impressive," she remarked sincerely. She knew it could take practice to effectively wield powers. Her own were not as simple as a variation like, say Silence: using plasma was more complex that just throwing up an aura by flipping a switch; she had to focus on its intensity, and source. She had mastered it on her own, with concerted exercising and experimenting - she had kept detailed notes, specified quantifiable achievements to mark progress. She suspected, though, that Weather Control was altogether more nuanced than even that, considering the variety of directions and effects it could manifest in. What did she know about teaching that? "Repetition is likely the most important method of improvement. Perhaps try to repeat such an outpouring?" she ventured. "It may also be revealing to concentrate on its direction: focus on different locations it is to approach." She was guessing here, and not adeptly hiding this fact. But a need to try was felt.
