  1. OOC: Seeing as to how a certain someone is now banned from BZPower and the quest we were on is pretty much dead in the water anyway, I'm just going to assume that Dahrak didn't find anything useful regarding the bounty and simply add him back onto my roster of semi-active characters. IC: Dahrak Nade - Onu-Koro (Streets) Given that his last job opportunity turned out to be another dead end, the Po-Toa simply found himself wandering through the Koro's streets and alleyways once again. Well, more like staggering, really; his five-finger discount card might not have allowed him access to anything of top shelf quality from that merchant stand he passed a while back, but it served its purpose in a pinch. Anyway, so there he was, continuing his stroll and drinking his newly acquired beverage one second, only to find himself climbing out of a pile of rubble the next, simply because some ####### Karz-Head decided to launch some other Karz-Head through a ####### wall. Granted, he was already ticked off at the entire situation as is, but the sight of the ground absorbing what was left of his alcohol only managed to increase his anger tenfold. "Alright, ########," he growled, struggling for a moment to encase his arms in gauntlets of stone as he noticed the closest being simply vanish from the visible spectrum. "Who wants their beating first?" OOC: That's Crystalia and Insidian, by the way.
  2. Oh, hey! This brings back some - ... ... ... *Succumbs to depression upon realising that only two of his characters ever received a mention, and one isn't even the correct character anymore.*
  3. Unless, of course, they're following the Flashpoint model, in which the change of said decision caused a ripple effect that altered past events in order to sustain itself. Granted, it's more of a time travel example, but since the outcome of that is usually ending up in an alternate universe anyway, I'd argue that it still fits the current discussion. For their G3 Concept, TTV tried to address this issue by keeping Stone more or less as is and fusing Earth and Plantlife into a singular element. Personally, I'm not too terribly fond of the idea myself, despite the whole soil/plant correlation actually somewhat making sense, but I figured I'd bring it up anyway as a possible solution.
  4. I actually proposed a similar question in the Ask Greg topic over on TTV. He said that since Velika was a Great Being and not an AI, he wouldn't be capable of transforming, as the AI has to change as well in order for masks and powers to start functioning. Here's a link if you want to go check it out for yourself.
  5. This. If we're upping the scale, though, it should be expanded to all of the elements, which could simply be rotated out every year or so. New teams, new characters, all that jazz. Might even be a way to get sets for Toa we never got to see on store shelves, such as Chiara, Orde, Zaria, etc.
  6. IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Bar) "None that I could ever afford... or weren't already attached to someone else's face." "..." "..." "..." "Now that you... mention it, though, I could've... sworn I saw one in a shop... just the other day. Can't say for certain... whether or not it's still there, but it might be... worth checking out."
  7. IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Bar) "Hard to... say, really. They tend to... vary a lot." The Fe Toa took another moment to choose her words carefully, which, in turn, was probably two or three more than originally intended due to her current state of inebriation, before finally responding. "To put it... bluntly, I get by enough to occasionally... put food in my stomach and a... roof over my head. Granted, the last was attached... to a leaky abandoned house that I was... squatting in, and the one before that... was just a tarp propped up in an alley, but the current one... belongs to a local inn, so I suppose I'm... moving up in the world. For the... time being, anyway."

IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) "Hmmm... Fair point," she mused, her eyes briefly darting over towards the Takea and its cannons. "If only I had access to my Vorox Repellent."
  9. IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Bar) She shrugged slightly. "Not like... these memories... are going to erase... themselves."

OOC: No excuses on my end. Just going to roll with it. IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) Only to suddenly find the twin blades of Nightmare pointed at her throat. "What the Karz?! Don't sneak up on people like that!" Lowering the weapon, but otherwise remaining on guard, the Vortixx stepped around the Skakdi in order to peer out of the newly created entrance. "So much for attempting to bottleneck them," the pirate sighed, watching on as the battle progressed. "We're still alive, though, so I suppose that's something." "..." "..." "..." "How likely do you think it would be for our new "friend" to take out the entire swarm all by himself? Got to say, the odds don't exactly appear to be in his favor."
  11. The day I joined the BZPRPG, which led to the creation of the character I'm probably known best for on this site, the mercenary Verulas, wisecracking master of snark and Toa of Plantlife. I lingered around for a few months before that, and even replied to a few topics over in S&T, but that was the first time I actually felt like a member of the community, and not someone who just occasionally dropped by and added his own two cents to an already preexisting conversation. Sadly, he's now inactive, along with the vast majority of my other characters across multiple games, but hey, at least they helped inspire me to create some pretty interesting MoCs.
  12. Yeah, if you're not going to give them genders, then you might as well not bother giving them names, either. Don't get me wrong or anything; I'd still probably buy a figure called (Insert Generic Element Here) Bot for pieces, but my interest in the story and character itself would be practically nonexistent at that point. Which is likely going to be a problem for some folks.
  13. I actually can't recall if we as Substitute Co-GMs ever approved a character with a pet before, as the majority were given the thumbs up prior to Wyrd's absence. If I had to guess, I would assume they would have to be something small (so no Manas Crabs), and preferably have no actual powers aside from relatively simple abilities (spiders can spin webs, bats can use sonar, etc.), as I do recall one incident in particular where a player wanted a baby Visorak, but was told to come up with a reason as to why it couldn't use its Hordika Venom because crawling around and forcibly mutating the student body was previously deemed to be a major party foul. We might have to get back to you on that front sometime in the future, but hopefully, this should be enough information to steer you towards a more reasonable starting point. Edit: Kapura'd by Scorp.
  14. To be perfectly fair, I don't believe simply having Toa in a character's backstory is what's discouraged; it's just that players who have included them in the past try to get away with defeating them in epic curb-stomp battles, when in reality, they'd be the ones getting curb-stomped, as they're only Level 2. Because of this, Makuta probably wouldn't be sending their children off to confront them this early in their lifespan (unless, of course, they're total #####), but getting ambushed out in the woods by a team of them likely wouldn't be entirely outside the realm of possibility. Just expect heavy losses, possibly some maiming, and your characters barely escaping alive.
  15. Double posting is usually acceptable in RP Topics as long as there's about 24-48 hours between them. Now as for your other concerns: - A brief summary of your character's history is fine. Most of us don't usually exceed a paragraph anyway. - A Level 2 Rahkshi of Mind Reading can sense both nearby emotions and beings. - Boundaries normally consist of creation, brief periods of training, possibly some optional experimentation, and their arrival/experiences/school life up to the present. As long as they aren't fighting Toa, or killing off hordes of Matoran, there shouldn't be much of an issue. Hopefully, this is enough to point you in the right direction, but if you need anything else, feel free to ask.

IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) Karz... Time to get creative. Seeing her escape route cut off, the Vortixx continued forward, launching herself off of a piece of nearby debris jutting out of the ground and using the resulting momentum in an attempt to sail over the closest mount and ground its rider via a full-body tackle. Given her superior strength and size, this shouldn't have been too much of an issue. Unless, of course, they had enough sense to move out of the way, in which case, she could simply resume her path towards the wreckage with little fear of further interruptions.
  17. Timageness' Magical G3 Wishlist New Characters Loved the Mata, but as with G1, their time is over. Let them remain in legend where they belong. Granted, they can still be alluded to, whether a continuation or not, but if you're going to go around changing their personalities and such, you might as well just create a brand new team from scratch. Plus, part of the reason why we liked them so much was because we were there to watch them grow and develop. We already know Tahu and Kopaka are going to fight, Lewa's going to be sarcastic, Gali is horrible at telling jokes, and Pohatu and Onua are going to be too busy bro-fisting most of the time to even notice. While seeing some of that in G2 was sort of nostalgic in its own way, it was honestly also a little stale and predictable. The Legend of Korra managed to pull this off rather nicely, so I don't see why Bionicle couldn't do something similar. New Elements Say what you want about Lego changing up Lewa's Element for G2, but it was still nice to see a Toa of Plantlife get some much deserved spotlight, given that it originally started off as a more exotic one. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind deviating from the "Main Six" entirely. It's 2017. We don't need another character affiliated with Fire or Ice. If you still want to go old school and give a shout-out to G1 fans, that's perfectly fine. Just maybe consider a team based off of the Bohrok Kal or something instead. Having, say, a Turaga of Fire try to assist an amnesiac Vo-Toa remaster her Lightning powers would also provide some additional conflict and opportunities for character growth as well. If they're really a necessity, however, then maybe have them subverted so that they actually belong to the villains instead. New Plot Two Words: Retire Makuta. Instead of writing off new villains as simple lackeys, turn them into more serious threats. Kulta had this enormous underground army supplemented with a horde of Skull Spiders and undead that he could've used to ravage the island's villages pretty much any time he wished, and yet he still played second fiddle to a former Mask Maker with jealousy issues who didn't even reside in the same dimension at the time. Why not make his own motivations, such as revenge, or dwindling resources, much more apparent, and increase the frequency of his attacks on the surface? If you're going to call his faction the Skull Raiders, then they should be doing some actual raiding. The same applies to Umarak. But if that's too extreme, then at least save his appearance/betrayal for the end so he can unite all of the main villains under a singular banner for one final smackdown. New Setting Preferably something we haven't seen, like maybe some sort of ancient, holographic biodome, or an island floating around in the sky. Or maybe some other city where their former Toa pulled a Tuyet, and now rule as brutal dictators. Which would especially be even more interesting if they were fending off attacks from other villains, while simultaneously leading a manhunt to capture the main characters as well. Sort of like if Vakama's team were evading Teridax while Metru Nui was being besieged by Dark Hunters. That would be pretty cool.

Ektana glanced at the Vortixx for a fraction of a second and started running towards her ship, hoping to get inside in time. "Saffina?!" she tried to scream through the cacophony of shrieks and wingbeats. IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) Well, ####... Not one of that Skakdi's stupid tests, surrounded by giant insects, and heavily outnumbered. Definitely not one of your finest moments here, Captain. Desperate for options, the Vortixx began rapidly listing off what she could gleam from the situation at hand. - Currently out in the open, awaiting use as target practice. - Swarm of ticked-off Rahi, looking for beings to take out their newfound aggression on. Threat Estimate: High. - Likely relying on more primitive methods of detection, such as scent, sound, movement, or heat. - Armor and weaponry of The Takea possibly enough to withstand, and potentially repel, ensuing assault, despite obvious disadvantages, such as speed and size. - Exact source of shipwreck damage now being called into question, in response to decrease in odds regarding former candidate. Falling back to previous explanation, despite their methods of transportation still being unknown. Wait a second... - Species exhibits elongated tails, and seem to be large enough to support beings within standard Vorox size parameters. Possible domestication by native population? - If correct, then posteriors are likely capable of emitting some form of natural energy. Surrounding evidence suggests Plasma. - Applying Hypothesis... Odds of Successful Engagement/Escape from within The Takea: Minimal. - Best Suggestion: Find cover and attempt to ride out the oncoming storm. Theorising that the duo's vehicles would only sustain minimal damage, if any at all, should they remain immobile and the wrath of the swarm not be directed towards them, Saffina quickly began to run... only towards the wreckage of the downed ship instead of her own. The destroyed hull may not have been the option that offered the most protection, but it would at least limit the amount of attackers that could engage them directly at once. And, if she was correct in her assumption, then it may have been surrounded by the scent of others of their kind, enough to effectively disguise their whereabouts if that was indeed at least partially how they were being tracked. "Wrong way!," she attempted to shout over the sound of the shrieking and thunderous wingbeats, only to look back towards the trio of Cargo Haulers. "One of you! Follow Ektana! As for the rest, on me!" Granted, the actual effectiveness of the machines in this situation was limited at best, but they could still be used as a mobile form of cover, and having more potential targets would still decrease one's chances of being attacked.
  19. IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Bar) "Yeah, well... said work would require... running into him again, which I hope... never, ever happens. Better to just... drink myself into a... stupor... and try to forget that the... entire incident even occurred to begin with."

IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) Given that the Vortixx had already been on the ground prior to Ektana's second scouting pass, the footprints weren't exactly difficult to notice. At first glance, she had nearly chalked up the discrepancies to possibly boarding some type of vehicle of sorts, which would've only provided more evidence to potentially prove her theory, but upon further examination, something still didn't seem quite right with them. There were no signs that any other craft, aside from their own, of course, had been anywhere near the downed airship for quite some time (if ever at all), and any older wheeled or treaded machinery that were previously favored by the inhabitants of this planet would've certainly left behind indications of their presence. Worse yet, none of them seemed to even head towards the wreckage in any capacity whatsoever, meaning that those that made them hadn't even stopped to loot their quarry after going through all the trouble just to bring it down out of the sky. Shifty Cliffside Skakdi... Scorch marks on the armor... An attack from above with pinpoint accuracy... Advanced knowledge of an airship's interior... Supposed Vorox assault with tracks that lead nowhere... Yeah, this didn't practically scream "Trap" or anything. Passing it off as a relatively simple scan of the perimeter, she began gingerly looking around, trying to assess the nearby terrain for any feasible vantage points, only to settle on one area in particular after taking the current position of The Takea into consideration. Cursing mentally for not coming to the conclusion sooner, she continued to pretend as if everything was normal as the Skakdi eventually returned. "Excellent," Saffina responded, darting her eyes back towards the foliage, and assuming that her companion would pick up on the hint. "Then we can finally get to work, and drink to our success when we arrive back in - " And that's when she made her move. Subtly inching her foot towards a fragmented piece of scrap metal as she spoke, she quickly flipped it up into the air with her toes before catching it, spinning herself back towards the brush, and blindly hurling it into the tree line as if it was an extremely blunt Razor Disk. Sure, it wasn't the most aerodynamic shard of airship armor, and the area itself was quite large, thus reducing her chances of actually hitting anything that wasn't composed of plant matter, but it would still certainly hurt if it did. Especially if it were to, say, dome a certain Skakdi of Lightning upside the head, for example. One who obviously didn't put too much time and effort into fabricating the fake Vorox trail he was planning to trick people with. And if that failed, well... at least he'd now know that they knew he was out there. Better luck next time, Blackbristle. It's going to take a lot more than that to separate me from my vessel.
  21. Captains don't sing, especially when they also double as governors. They make other people do it for them. Personally, I'm a bit torn up about this. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but I'm slightly disappointd that Saffina wasn't around to do the actual punting. Oh well. Can't always get what you want, I suppose. Guess I'll just have to save her wrath for Random Quest NPC #243.

IC: Saffina - The Wastes (Shipwreck) "Fair enough. Caution usually isn't something to be casually ignored, after all."
  23. According to BS01, the Great Beings were essentially a bunch of "Glatorian" inventors that Annona attempted to feed off of and drive mad, only for pretty much the exact opposite to happen, which effectively supercharged their creativity by draining her, hence why she was in hiding until her appearance in Sahmad's Tale. From the way both pages were written, the event in question appears to have been a total fluke. So yeah, Takametru's second hypothesis basically hit the nail on the head.
  24. IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Bar) For a moment, the Fe-Toa seemed like she was about to open up, but quickly backpedaled upon eventually thinking better of it. "Not much to... tell, honestly. Ran into someone who didn't... agree with me, and did something stupid, is all. Really, really... stupid."
  25. Again, the Turaga's role in Matoran society is not one of dictatorship, so just because they want the populace to take a specific course of action, that doesn't necessarily mean that their word is law. If it was, then Jaller wouldn't have been able to effectively blackmail information about the Toa Nuva and the state of the MU out of them by organising his island-wide strike on Metru Nui. If they have a reason to be suspicious of the Turaga, then it is well-within their capability to simply ignore them, whether or not they are currently suffering from amnesia. Also, we're talking about an RPG here, you know, where characters generally have more freedom to do whatever the heck they want, especially if it's not canon. Except that: - In order for the two societies to work together cohesively and form an actual relationship with one another, they would each have to disclose their respective cultures, histories, and prophecies, to avoid any potential mishaps. This means that the Mask Maker would've already had access to the term "Makuta" in advance, and could've simply adopted the identity/title as a show of power, without so much of a hint of the original Teridax ever being involved. Again, no Teridax = no reason to break the Vahi. - Any powers obtained by said Mask Maker would potentially have alternative origins as well. According to G1, any being could obtain a limited ability over Shadow, simply by focusing on their own anger and aggression, which G2 Makuta would have had plenty of. Plus, he also forged the G2 MoUP, which was responsible for his original transformation in the first place. - Assuming that the Vahi operates under similar rules and conditions as the Ignika and MoC, its destruction would've only carried the same weight as Vakama's original threat if it was actually kept inside the Matoran Universe. Since Mata Nui/Okoto is actually outside of the GSR, the timeline within the actual robot itself would likely remain largely unaffected in the event that the Turaga felt it was necessary to keep to his word. At this point, Teridax would only require the mask to speed up time in order to advance his own plans, and being the master of the Xanatos Gambit that he is, the retrieval/continued existence of the G1 Vahi would've thus reverted back to being merely a convenience at best. What he's really after here is actually the enslavement of the Matoran of Metru Nui, whom he still needs for Mata Nui's brain to continue to function, which is absolutely essential for his plan to succeed. So yeah, Vakama pretty much shot himself in the foot by taking everybody to Mata Nui, and aside from that, there'd still be plenty of reasonable doubt concerning the extent of Teridax's actual involvement.
