  1. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Sanctum, Korzaa's Office) "Thanks, I'll be on my way then." He saluted her and turned around to leave the office. All the formalities were annoying, but he knew he had to act more professional now that he had a more professional employer. Such was the life of a mercenary. He got directions from a nearby guard and followed him down the stairs to Dargon's office. He wasn't sure what "Guard Protocol" exactly meant, but he hoped it wouldn't be too horribly boring. After letting out a deep sigh, he knocked on the door. OOC: @Visaru
  2. IC: Oliphko (Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge) She tried smiling back, feeling less nervous already. Her fears appeared to have been unfounded. "Um well, as long as it isnt combat training, I guess I'd be fine with anything! Why not practice meditation or discuss the philosophy of the Three Virtues or something? Or if that's too boring, how about more practice with using elemental powers?" Deep inside she knew that her greatest weakness was her lack of fighting skills, but she simply refused to admit it. She still stubbornly believed that violence could always be avoided, somehow. OOC: @Geardirector
  3. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Sanctum, Korzaa's Office) Dartakh stared back at the captain without flinching, or making any other kind of movement, until she broke off eye contact and started to write something down. He thought how nice it was to be able to record thoughts. Perhaps one day, he should learn how to do that. "Yes ma'am, though they lack my special piece of anti-elemental equipment. I suppose I can still teach them a trick or two." He took the ice shard and figured he'd make a trustworthy messenger as he wasn't able to read the messages himself. "Only one, ma'am: Where can I find this Dargon? I don't know my way around this place yet." OOC: @Visaru sure we can go through the orientation, so i know how dartakh is supposed to behave while serving the guard
  4. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Sanctum, Korzaa's Office) At the very least, the captain seemed to be serious professional, which was quite different from the leadership style of the Outsiders. He simply nodded when she told him of his duty. There was no doubt he'd take his job seriously as long as he'd get paid regularly. "I am a fighter first and foremost," he quickly replied, "Specialized in fighting users of elemental powers. But during times of peace, I guess I am best at training others to improve their close combat skills. I don't mind patrol duty either. The Akiri mentioned the Dark Walk hasn't been as quiet as before lately."
  5. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Sanctum, Korzaa's Office) Before the door opened, Dartakh had expected the guard captain to be a Toa or some other, physically strong and tall figure. So when he instead had to look down and see a short Matoran telling him that she was Korzaa, he was both surprised and disappointed. Nevertheless, he saluted his new commanding officer. "I am Dartakh, a mercenary warrior hired by your Akiri, tasked with training your soldiers and aiding with the defence of the Koro. He told me to come and speak to you, ma'am." OOC: @Visaru
  6. you didnt even give him a paper contract to sign, that would’ve revealed it but yeah this trait was always part of his profile as a weakness lol
  7. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Sanctum) Dartakh's steps echoed within the halls of the Sanctum as he looked for the Guard Captain's office. Eventually, he saw a Toa of Crystal exit a room and soon disappear out of sight. He walked closer and looked at the door to his left. He saw some text emblazoned upon it: ' ' Unfortunately, he was illiterate. He decided to knock on the door and find out if it was the right place. If not, he'd just have to keep looking. Hopefully, someone would open the door, and that someone would be the person he was looking for. OOC: @Visaru
  8. IC: Sir Dahkapa (Ta-Koro Guard Prison) After a long time spent waiting within a cell, Dahkapa was finally taken out to be interrogated. The guards responsible explained that the questioning had been delayed due to the guard being busy with the liberation of Ko-Koro, but now that it was free they could take care of "less important tasks". Dahkapa was upset that he wasn't able to participate in the fight, or even provide any valuable intelligence beforehand. But, at the very least, he should finally be able to go free. The interrogation was a relatively quick affair compared to his detainment. The guardswoman asked about the events of the First Battle of Ko-Koro, his conversion into a cultist, information on other members of the cult, what had happened after the Brotherhood got kicked out of Ko-Koro and so on. He answered every question honestly, revealing every detail he knew. The guard was surprised about how open he was. Despite becoming a worshipper of Ak'rei'an, his honourable principles remained. At the end, it was his turn to ask questions. He asked about the Second Battle of Ko-Koro, and if the servants of Makuta had been slaughtered to the last man and woman. Unfortunately, many of them had escaped, much to his disappointment. It looked like his personal crusade would have to continue. The taint of the Dark Spirit had to be cleansed from this island, once and for all. He was given back his items and warned that the Guard would keep an eye on him. If he did anything even slightly suspicious, he'd be arrested again. Dahkapa responded with a dry chuckle and reassured them that as a Toa, he had sworn to never break the laws of the land. With that, he walked outside and breathed in the acrid air of the volcano-city. It smelled like freedom. OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva) nows your chance to interact with him
  9. i didnt remember either and had to dig up messages from 5 years ago thanks for the green light, he can finally be free after all this time
  10. a prison meeting would be cool as idk how joskander could track him down otherwise. i only wanted to get him out because there was no one to interact with really
  11. IC: Oliphko (Onu-Koro) "Oh that'd be nice for me too! Because, you know, I have the same mask and I could always use some practice using it now that I have full access to its powers and all that." There was an awkward pause. "Speaking of which, erm, you wouldn't mind teaching me more Toa stuff would you? I feel like I still have a lot to learn." OOC: @Geardirector
  12. outsiders are back? too bad my character already got another job that probably pays better anyways am i allowed to bunny an npc ta-koro guard to get my imprisoned character out of prison? he was detained to be interrogated so i could just do the interrogation and let him go though im not sure if the ta-koro guard would let an akreian worshipper go, even if they didnt technically commit any crime. talk about bigotry
  13. IC: Oliphko (Onu-Koro) She was a little startled by the door swinging open, but quickly regained her composure. With a nervous smile she entered the building. "Oh, um, I'm fine, thanks for asking! It's been a while, hasn't it? But don't worry I still remember what you've taught me so far!" There was a brief silence as she looked around the forge. "So um, what have you been up to while I was gone? Busy at work?" OOC: @Geardirector
  14. IC: Oliphko (Onu-Koro) For Oliphko, even simple actions such as knocking on someone's door could cause great anxiety. The fact that the door belonged to the dwelling of her mentor didn't help, especially because it had been a while since she had met him. She worried that she was interrupting him, or that he wasn't home and she would have to awkwardly leave, or that he was no longer interested in being her teacher, and so on. For a while, she simply stood in front of the forge. After some Matoran who passed by glanced at her in curiosity, she was finally driven into weakly knocking the door. Once. After a moment she figured a single knock was inappropriate and quickly knocked several more times. OOC: @Geardirector
  15. edit: oh right i gotta ask about my character. about 5 years ago he was imprisoned by ta-koro guard to be interrogated but nobody ever did the interrogation. so he's kinda stuck in limbo atm and i changed my mind about cheesing him out of prison between the arcs, as i don't want him to become a fugitive. could maybe some ta-koro guard character take care of him?
  16. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Akiri's Office) He nodded and turned around to leave without saying a word. Despite his silence, he was satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and had nothing to complain about. While training wasn't the ideal mercenary job, it was certainly much safer than active combat on the battlefield. As he was leaving, he saw a familiar face. It was the Enforcer, another fellow Outsider. He guessed he was looking for a job too. Not wanting to interrupt or delay anything, he simply saluted him as he passed by. Perhaps they would meet again soon, but for now, Dartakh needed to find his new commanding officer. A guard directed him to the Sanctum, so he headed there to look for the Guard Captain.
  17. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Akiri's Office) Perhaps he did know warriors, but that didn't mean he knew Dartakh. The Vortixx grunted. "All I need is widgets. And for them, I'm willing to do any task you offer. Even pest control is better than no job at all." He wondered what it was like to fight a Rahkshi, having only heard tales from terrified Matoran before. They sounded like strong and dangerous enemies, so likely they'd be more entertaining to fight against than recruits or trainees. But at the same time, he was unsure if he really wanted to risk his own life just to guard an unused tunnel. Either way, he needed widgets, so he had no choice but to accept any job that was given. OOC: @The UltimoScorp
  18. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Akiri's Office) He grimaced ever so slightly when he spoke of the Outsiders. It was true they hadn't accomplished much, and truth was unpleasant. He hadn't expected his previous membership in the group to result in a negative reputation rather than a positive one. His eyes followed the Akiri as he approached some kind of machine or vehicle, which certainly looked more imposing than the Matoran did. "Teach? Well, experience is the finest teacher. I believe mock fights are a good way to test and develop skills." He wanted to mention the initiation duels required to become a member of the Outsiders, but believed the Akiri would simply dismiss it. "So in a way, yes, I can teach. You want me to show rookies how things are done?"
  19. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro, Akiri's Office) Dartakh looked around as he was escorted inside the office. It already looked almost as good as new, with no signs to show that the previous occupant had met an unfortunate fate. As he turned to look at the Akiri, his potential future employer, he thought that the flimsy and bookish Matoran lacked the gravitas of a leader. In his opinion, only the strongest deserved to lead. But the Matoran had their own strange tradition of electing a leader and he had no choice but to respect it. His face showed no emotion at the dry remark. "No, I am not. Unless you need someone to protect trade routes. As you can probably guess from my equipment, I am a warrior for hire. I figured you don't want your fragile town of ice to be broken again. Well, offer me widgets and I'll break the skulls of those who threaten you or your people. I have plenty of experience and I once belonged to the ranks of the Outsiders. You may have heard of them."
  20. OOC: just gonna retcon all that jazz about him escaping prison IC: Sir Dahkapa (Ta-Koro Guard Prison) Despite his pleas, the guards had not allowed him to go free and participate in the liberation of Ko-Koro, his home. They refused to trust a worshipper of Ak'rei'an due to their bigotry and misconceived beliefs in a false, dead god. At the very least, by listening to the guards' conversations he was able to learn that the followers of the Dark Spirit Makuta had been routed, and breathed a sigh of relief. Yet he still felt uneasy, for unclear reasons. A shadow haunted his dreams. Was the victory in Ko-Koro a hollow one? He prayed that was not the case, and that Makuta's servants would not rear their ugly heads again any time soon. He was not sure what he was imprisoned for, as there hadn't been any trial. This simply proved to him that these heretics were corrupt. They preached about justice yet allowed their preconceptions to cloud their judgement. Hopefully they would eventually release him, for he had committed no serious crimes. In the meantime, he was content with continuing his life of calm meditation and prayer. OOC: open for interaction in the prison i guess
  21. IC: Dartakh (Ko-Koro) Soon after the "liberation" of Ko-Koro, Dartakh entered the town. It was in even worse shape than last time he was here, during the First Battle of Ko-Koro. The local inhabitants celebrated their victory in the streets, but all he felt was disappointment. He had missed out on the action, letting a perfect opportunity for paid work pass him by solely because he was feeling down. He shouldn't let his own feelings take control over him, but it was difficult to accomplish while intoxicated. But now his mind was clear, as was his purpose. He was in need of a job, and Ko-Koro was in need of defenders to prevent it from being conquered again. Surely they would have need for an experienced warrior such as himself? If they didn't, well, it was back to wandering the island and desperately searching for a job. His worst fear was that Mata-Nui would now enter a period of peace, as then he'd become useless. Violence was the only thing he was good at. He approached a local guard and requested an audience with the Akiri of the Koro, offering his services as a mercenary. Hopefully, the guard would relay his message, and the Akiri would give him a chance. OOC: @The UltimoScorp
  22. Name: Dartakh ”The Champion” Wiki Page Species: Vortixx Gender: Male History: Dartakh is a mercenary warrior, who travels around the island to find contracts. He is a veteran of many wars, and has seen much bloodshed and carnage over the years. He used to work with a group of mercenaries called the Shadowknife, but all of its members except for Dartakh were slain in an ambush. He was quite traumatised by it, because many of its members were his longtime friends. Afterwards he wandered around until joining a mercenary group called "The Outsiders." He never talks about his past with others. Eventually, the members of the Outsides drifted apart and he was left without employment. Powers: No special 'powers', although he is very skilled, strong, experienced and fearless. One should avoid him in fair close combat, and use possible elemental powers and ranged weapons instead. Weapons: Over the years, he has become a skilled user of swords, war hammers, maces and crossbows. Currently he has a steel mace and a shield. Description: He is average height for a Vortixx. The claws on his fingers are long and sharp. He is broad-shouldered and muscular beneath his natural protodermic armour, which is mostly black and dark blue. His eyes glow light blue. His back is riddled with green and red tattoos. His voice is rough and very deep. Weaknesses: Besides the obvious lack of elemental powers, he is often alone and can be defeated rather easily by a group. He also can't read or write. Personality: Dartakh is serious and cunning, and very patient. He trusts nobody and lacks any sence of humour, for it died along with his friends. Dartakh is willing to work for anyone who pays, as long as the work is about fighting others. He can't read and write and if given a contract in document form, he simply draws a crude cross. In battle, he is calculating, patient but also aggressive. He falls utterly silent during combat and enters a martial trance. He usually spends a third of his day training, if possible. Combat and violence have become obsessions for him. Allies: The Outsiders (formerly) Enemies: His enemies are whoever he is paid to fight. Unless the enemy pays him more. Ambitions: Earn enough widgets to fulfill a secret ambition. Items: Ancient Boruhka Helm (Approved By Nuju Metru) An ancient artifact Dartakh looted from a defeated champion. It is a large, 'enchanted' bronze helm. While it is heavy and cumbersome to wear, it protects him from mind-control and telepathy when worn. Not immune to attached Parakuka, however. Because it is made out of bronze, it gets dented and damaged much more easily than his steel helm, which is why he only wears it when necessary. Elemental Energy Disruptor (Approved By Friar Tuck) Ancient device of mysterious origin. It is small, oval metal object. A long, metallic antenna protrudes from it's front. There is a single, large black button with the letters . When the button is pushed, the device emits a powerful energetic pulse, which makes a single individual in front of the antenna to temporarily lose the ability to use his/her elemental powers. The effect lasts for about five minutes, although this varies slightly. The device then takes roughly 24 hours to recharge. The mask powers of the affected target are untouched.
