  1. Beware, islanders of Okoto! Even the power of the mighty Toa is no match for the dangerous, the malicious, the powerful... Skull Spiders! In this new first wave of Bionicle sets, our protagonists, the Toa/Masters have to battle the armies of the Lord of Skull Spiders. Seems pretty good. But should they be first wave enemies, or just a minor roadblock to the eventual Makuta battle? I disagree to the latter. First of all, I want to make something clear. I don't want Makuta to be the main villain for this year. Sure, have some hinting towards his character soon being a threat, but the rogue Maskmaker should not be the top priority for the new line of sets for 2015. The Lord of Skull Spiders should be a formidable villain, enough to stand up against the six Toa, and can give them a hard time through more ways than his arachnid army. Maybe have him be a cold, calculating plotter, who leads the Toa into traps, and makes them fight among each other. If the Lord were as sinister and deceitful as that, he would certainly be a threat. But please do give him some character. He should also have a personality that makes us love to hate him. If not, he is just Makuta with extra legs. Second, have the Skull Spiders do more than dogpile islanders. There seem to be different breeds of Skull Spiders, so why not give them something unique to them? I will offer up poison, strength, and agility. With these specific traits, each breed can be dangerous in their own different ways, and it will challenge our heroes to fight them some other way. Third, the Skull Spiders can make collectibles. The Skull Spiders are apparently craving the Mask of Creation for it's power, and the Mask of Creation only, but with some tweaks, we can have an excuse for collectibles. The Skull Spiders could possibly just be hoarders in general, so they try to collect every mask that was made by Ekimu. Once all the Toa have found their Golden Masks, they could undergo another quest - retrieving the stolen masks. With this little plot point, this could lead into the second wave of sets, and the collectibles themselves. The collectibles could be the stolen masks, and they come in many different colours and shapes, and we could get some sweet new melded masks. This is a similar marketing strategy to finding the different Kanohi back in 2001, as both you and the Toa were looking for masks. In conclusion, the Lord of Skull Spiders should be more formidable, and the masks stolen by the Skull Spiders can lead us into the collectibles. The sets for the collectibles shouldn't be too pricey, probably at $6 maximum, or something. It should have three masks, and a Skull Spider. Da End.
  2. I say that we get packs of the Islander's masks. In The Legend animation, it is stated that Ekimu and Makuta made many masks for the inhabitants of Okoto. Why not integrate that into small collectible sets? The variants of the masks should probably be different melds, I guess? Like with some black and trans-green or red and trans-purple masks. It would be great for adding a little differentiation, and it would fit the portrayal of the islanders that we have seen so far. But I still think we should get different shapes. So, the collectible sets should be about three different masks with a Skull Spider. Why not? The Skull Spiders seem to be mask hoarders, so it would make sense, and it can build up your personal Skull Spider army.
  3. Why aren't you reading TotST?

  4. Hello there! Remember the days when the Technic and Bionicle themes were inseparable? Back in 2001, the original Bionicle line was actually sold under the Technic theme, with Bionicle being a subtitle, if you will. They have had a pretty close relationship, but this relationship started to meet some bumpy roads after 2004. In the years before 2005, every Bionicle set had a bit of Technic in it, and Technic gave the sets a gear function and more playability. Following the Visorak, however, no gear functions were present in the sets. This was the same case for the Rahaga. Technic and Bionicle probably broke up in late 2006, when the Piraka, Toa Inika, Titans, and pretty much every other set had absolutely no gear or Technic functions. This continued all the way into Bionicle's end. This is an unfortunate thing, as Bionicle has it's roots in the Technic line, and was what made it unique. It was a shame we didn't see many other sets with Technic functions after 2005. But fast foward five years, and Technic and Bionicle have gotten back together. YES! This new line is paying homage to it's predecessor, and that is a great thing. With this great news, I am going to explain why this should continue for the foreseeable future. 1: It makes the Titan sets more awesome. Remember the awesome functions of the Titan sets in Bionicle's earlier days? Like how the Bahrag's heads lunge forward, how the Tarakava throw punches, or how Nivawk spread his wings? Like the smaller sets, the Titan sets started to have less functions. They were still awesome, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see some functions return. Not only that, but you can have some very nice looking sets. During Hero Factory's run, the Titan sets we got weren't very well designed and looked a bit flimsy. One set in particular that I got was Fire Lord, and he only had a sprinkle of Technic pieces, and his legs were made of limbs. It made him look slightly weak, and it left him looking gappy (Witch Doctor is an exception, he had pistons in his legs and was a great set, that's why I got him). When Titan sets have Technic parts in them, they look more biomechanical and less gappy. Looking at the tiny pistons and functions in a Titan's leg looks much better than a bunch of limbs. 2: It looks more biomechanical and is more MOC-friendly. I briefly went over how adding Technic parts makes a set look more biomechanical, so I won't go over it as much. But on the other hand, adding Technic parts to a set makes it more MOC-friendly. On occasions I've tried to build some MOCS with the Hero Factory build only, without the Technic parts, and it is actually harder than using the Bionicle/Technic system. The Ultrabuild system seems to restrict you to these large, clunky pieces, and it really isn't easy to add in some small little touches. In future, the new sets should integrate some more Technic pieces to... complete the look, if you will. Well. This little discussion was rather short. I made this list in 15 minutes or something, so forgive the lack of material in this. I don't have much to say anyway, so what do you think?
  5. Cate Blanchett as Nokama? Perfect. Troy Baker as Makuta. Ellen Page as Hahli. Benedict Cumberbatch as Kopaka. Chris Pine as Jaller.
  6. You know LEGO? Of course you do! They are a pretty good company, and have mostly deserved their high status among toy industries. But, throughout the years, LEGO has made some strange decisions with their lines of toys, and I am going to list some of them in no order. Avatar: The Last Airbender Great show, but odd sets. I didn't get any of the whopping two sets that we got for the line, but they look okay. Nothing major about this line, nothing particularly horrible, it's just odd. Probably a cash-grab regarding the popularity for the show at the time. Ben 10 Yet again, another possible cash-grab. Ben 10 exploded in popularity during it's first run, and it was hard for anyone not to notice the ten-year old Benjamin wearing an ultra-powerful watch called the Omnitrix. So, during the second Ben 10 wave, LEGO released six constraction sets of six forms that come with the new Omnitrix powers. These sets were very forgettable, and had very simplistic builds that didn't really catch anyone's attention. While popping into my local toystore to get a few CITY sets, I thought I would pick up the Humongosoar (or whatever it was called) set. Why not? These consisted of few pieces, and weren't that interesting. I'm not bashing on the line for being simplistic, because it was just an innocent experiment. Time Cruisers Now this theme is pretty weird. I know I shouldn't be bashing on this theme so much, as it is an earlier System set, but these sets are still pretty strange. I know that the 'time travel' aspect is a main reason for all the weirdness, but the builds are all over the place. One particular set called the Flying Time Vessel is supposed to be a boat.. crossed with a plane... crossed with a pirate ship... what? The sets in general look like sets slapped together by the creative director's nephew, and shipped off and mass-produced to be sets. Weird. Znap Now I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel. While scrolling through themes on Brickset to look at some Viking sets (awesome sets, by the way), I found this theme. So I took a quick look, and the sets looked repulsive. It's an odd attempt to make vehicles out of the Technic line, and this was most probably the first try. Seriously, the sets look like they are made from straws! It's still pretty funny, since it looks like a LEGO knockoff when LEGO themselves made them. Yet again, a little dud on a good reputation. And... Galidor Oh boy. Galidor was an epic fail by LEGO. First of all, these look like cheap action figures made in China. There is absolutely nothing that makes it unique to LEGO. It's just your run-of-the-mill action figure. Second, the figures look horrible, and at times, terrifying if you look at some of them. I can't even explain how bad it is. Before you leave this post or write a comment, go and look up Galidor. Have fun laughing hysterically. Nice try LEGO, should have stayed content with Bionicle. So? Have I introduced you to any themes you haven'y heard of? Disagree with me? Do you also think the Vikings sets are awesome? Give me your opinion.
  7. I would agree with all of you. Salvus, Hydraxon certainly is a great Titan. Very consistent build and shape, and was a pretty cool and solid set. Also, the Voyatoran are a bit stumpy and weren't the best builds. The Bohrok Va are pretty bad. I would have to agree with you, Spirion.
  8. The Water Among Rock "You really did put up a fight back there. I really do hope I can see you again, but I suppose you did it for countless others. You always seemed so special, from what I've heard from this small elder who calls herself Nokama." muttered Kiina. Kiina was in a large, decorated chamber, and it was filled with other Matoran, Toa, Turaga, Glatorian and Agori who came to mourn this one's leave. Most of the people mourning were gazing at the Ignika, and were sad that Mata Nui had left them, whilst some others were reading the tall, vast walls of writing that told Mata Nui's story. "I guess I'll see you soon." said Kiina. This chamber was surrounded by what was known as a Kini-Nui in the Matoran Universe, as many Agori and Matoran had gathered around the circles outside the sacred chamber. The location itself was a vast mix of many elements. Waterfalls and lakes pooled around flourishing jungles, large spikes of protodermis jutted out of mountains, and small hills of stone were scattered around a vast desert. Kiina had taken the path to Tajun, her home village before Mata Nui's life completion, but Tajun was still a functioning village. Only now they had a few more residents. Kiina had parked her Thornatus outside the chamber, and rode off to Tajun to accept any errands the elders might need help with. As she drove to her faraway village, she observed the changes that the planet of Spherus Magna had seen in the past five years. Somewhere in the rocky desert, a massive field of metal was deemed the Rahkshi Field, as hundreds of thousands of empty Rahkshi shells were spread across the dunes from when Tahu made quick work of the Makuta's sons. The Sea of Liquid Sand was no longer liquid, but was rather the main bay to a massive ocean of the planet. The Black Spike Mountains were now teeming with Onu-Matoran and vast mines rather than Skrall, an previously rare jungle was now the residence of Plantlife and Air villages, and many more things were introduced. Kiina had also heard of a gigantic fortress somewhere on the planet. She eventually arrived at Tajun, and went up to the Turaga to accept any jobs. After all, the planet had been quite peaceful after a few squabbles were settled between the worlds after about a year or so. Kiina had walked up to the Turaga's temple, and found that many other Toa of Water were gathered there. The Toa known as Gaaki, Gali and Hahli were gathered here. Even Tarix was there, even though no one had ever called him a Toa. "Wait, what are you all doing here? Unless it's another one of your stories, Nokama, why are we here?" asked Kiina. "We have a crisis in the Black Spike Mountains, apparently. And for some reason, we are called upon. Willing to join us, Kiina?" interrupted Hahli. "Well, yes. Who is causing the problem, though?" said Kiina. "Nokama says there has been an overthrow of the Onu-Matoran in the Black Spike Mountains. She thinks some rogue Dark Hunters are behind this." replied Gaaki. "We don't have to time to jump to assumptions, but we should just go if you ask me." said Hahli. "Let us go to the Black Spike Mountains, noble Toa. Quickly." said Nokama. With the Turaga's word, Kiina and Tarix once again started up their Thornatus vehicles, Gali flew away with her Adaptive Armour, and everyone else hopped on the Glatorian's vehicles. The Black Spike Mountains were quite a way's away, and took a rather long trip. When the sun of Solis Magna started to set, the Toa and Glatorian stopped at the Ice Tribe to rest. The icy mountains and settlement were about the same as they were five years ago, but not in terms of population. Most of the Ice Agori had moved away to the larger mountains and glaciers, where most of the Matoran, Toa and Turaga moved to. This mountain range gradually had it's ice melted, and it gradually became just another mountain in the Black Spike range. The company of heroes had rested in a cave just near the desert sands, but getting light wasn't too easy, as, needless to say, these warriors of water weren't very good with fire. Fortunately, Tarix always carried around a lightstone, which he was given by a Matoran called Taipu. The lightstone had a small radius of illumination, but the company gathered around it anyway. With that, the company had a chat. "Dark Hunters, eh? Wouldn't they just slavishly follow their leader? Or move to a better hiding spot? The Black Spike Mountains are bustling with Matoran and resources! Not a very good hideout." said Hahli. "The Mountains do have many caves and resources, so it could actually be an ideal Dark Hunter spot once they clear out all the Onu-Matoran. They might as well follow in the footsteps of the Skrall. They used to live there, from what I've heard." replied Gali. "You would be right. These Matoran would have added some kinks into the mountains, so that would probably attract these Hunters." said Tarix. "In case you will be wondering where I am, I'm going to scout out the mountain. Don't worry about me." stated Kiina. The mountain that was once the Ice Tribe was quite tall and expansive. But once Kiina had finally reached the summit, she looked over the landscape and saw the location that her company would soon reach - The Black Spike Mountains. The Mountains appeared to be bustling with Matoran, but this was mostly due to the large amount of huts, lights and mines. As she climbed down a little bit from the summit, she squinted her eyes and scanned the area. Then, she saw what seemed to be a hulking brute with four arms, who was walking behind a imposing, armoured figure. She didn't recognise it, so she climbed back down to the camp and notified the company. "Excuse me, but we have some activity in the Black Spikes. There seems to be a big shell with four arms accompanying a rather menacing figure. Have any idea how this might be?" asked Kiina. "Nokama was right. There are Dark Hunters in the Black Spike Mountains. This 'big shell' is The Shadowed One's main bodyguard. But from what I've heard, this brute was sent to Voya Nui to find the Piraka. It's quite unlikely that he has found his way back to his master though." said Hahli. "May be, Hahli. With that, I guess we won't have time for resting. Let's go find these Hunters." replied Gaaki. After Gaaki's word of action, the company were off to the Mountains in a few seconds. Tarix and Kiina started up their Thornatus vehicles, Hahli and Gaaki hopped on, and before Gali soared away, she said: "I'm going to scout out the area. If there's any trouble, you'll hear flash floods." "Ugh. Wish I had jetpack armour..." groaned Kiina. A quick trip to the Black Spike Mountains followed, and Kiina rushed foward in front of Tarix's vehicle, and without a word, smirked at Tarix. Right as she parked her Thornatus, however, a bolt of energy had struck the ground, previously on a course for the vehicle. Kiina had managed to quickly swerve the Thornatus away. Another energy bolt was launched at the Thornatus, which was similarly dodged, until another was on an exact course for the vehicle, and Kiina shouted at her passenger to exit the Thornatus. It turns out exiting the vehicle was a good idea, as once the bolt of energy had struck the Thornatus, it was engulfed in energy, and dematerialised. Gaaki lay in the sand and saw the diminishing Thornatus, and knew exactly what this was. A Dematerialisation Rhotuka. With this realisation, Gaaki shouted: "Tarix! Hahli! Get off your vehicles! Now! Dematerialisation Rhotuka!" Confused, Tarix jumped out of the driver's seat anyway, but Hahli was aware of this threat, and promptly jumped onto the sand. Hahli quickly scanned the rocks above, and saw what Kiina had vaguely described. A big shell with four arms. Except now, she saw it was yellow, had several weapons in it's hands, and stood rather tall. It was Sentrakh. With the Dark Hunter in sight, Gaaki charged up her Tidal Spear, and hit Sentrakh with a powerful torrent of water. Suddenly, Gaaki's Mask of Clairvoyance activated, without any intent from Gaaki. In the resulting vision, she saw herself fighting against strange Dark Hunters, coming in the forms of fusions, mutations, and beast-like beings. Also in the vision, she saw a massive wave flooding the tunnels, destroying all light. Intrigued, Gaaki wanted to know more, but the vision abruptly stopped. She snapped back to her senses, and went into the Black Spike Mountains to catch up with the rest of the company. Meanwhile, Gali had landed on the sharp peak of a nearby spike to make her job of scouting out a bit more secretive. She looked into the Mountains, and saw an odd clawed Dark Hunter pacing around an entrance, guarding it from intruders. "Looks like I'm going to catch a guard off-guard..." whispered Gali. She aimed her Nynrah Ghostblaster at the guard, setting it to the lowest level, and silently fired at the Hunter. The Hunter fell down from the shock, and fell unconscious. With the guard out of the way, she covertly flew into the fortress and looked around. There were very few guards around the other entrances, and actually not very many in the Black Spike Mountains. Gali flew back up to the top of the mountains, and saw a rather large group of Dark Hunters leading a charge against what seemed to be the rest of the Toa. With this sight, she flew in closer and starting creating a flood. Hahli had walked up a dune and saw the charging of Dark Hunters, and prepared to fight. Gaaki charged up her Rhotuka, Kiina powered up her weapon, and Tarix got into a defense position. Once the Dark Hunters had just about reached the Toa, an intense amount of Water energy was fired at the oncoming enemy. Water had defeated many of the Hunters, and were overwhelmed by the power of the waves. However, some of the Hunters stood, not at all wavered. Firedracax, in particular had a firm grip on his staff, as he heated any of the water being fired at him into steam in an instant. "Alright, maybe we should have brought along a Toa of Ice. We can't douse this fiery Hunter..." said Kiina. "Maybe we can!" shouted Gali from a distance. Maybe the Toa Nuva could. The flood she created was indeed huge, rivaled only by a Nova Blast. The wave had rushed out of the mountains in seconds, and the intense force made any surrounding spikes collapse from the loss of support. As it came down on Firedracax, he yet again focused his Fire powers to turn the flood into steam. He used his power with immense effort, until his Fire powers slightly diminished from the use, allowing the waves to crash down on him. "Impressive, Gali. Maybe we're fine against Fire after all." said Gaaki. "We might be. But The Shadowed One is still in that fortress, and that army we just saw couldn't be all of the Dark Hunters he has." replied Gali. "Okay, keep unleashing floods if you want, but we still have Onu-Matoran to save, right? We might want to prioritise here." queried Kiina. "Well, we've got to get The Shadowed One out of the mountains. It would be essential to do that first, don't you think?" said Hahli. "Alright... let's get this shadowed guy out of here." mumbled Kiina. The company then went inside the Black Spike Mountains to meet The Shadowed One, and fought the occasional guard among the entrances. Kiina and Tarix, however, were not accompanying the rest. They were looking around the vast caves that the Onu-Matoran left when they were living in the mountains, hoping to find the presumably captured Matoran. Most of the searches yielding nothing, as they were mainly abandoned mines. But during the search of yet another cave, they saw something rather interesting. A Toa of Earth in a stasis tube. "What's he doing here? Wouldn't they just kill him? said Tarix confusingly. "I'm not sure. Maybe holding him for ransom?" replied Kiina. The two looked around the chamber a little more, they saw a Dark Hunter guard, and quickly hid behind a wall. However this was useless. The Dark Hunter called "Dweller" had seen the two looking at the stasis field, and tracked them down. He proceeded to destroy the wall next to them, revealing the two to him. "Ahhh... so there you are. Like mental blasts?" said Dweller. "Dweller" had focused his mental blast into Kiina, sending her reeling to the back wall, screaming in pain. Before "Dweller" was able to kill her, Tarix quickly slashed at his armour and claws, destroying his claws and damaging his armour. This was enough to distract him, and Tarix managed to pick him up and throw him into another empty stasis tube, keeping him in suspended animation. "Uggghh... that really hurt. That could have killed me..." mumbled Kiina, trying to recover. "It didn't this time. We would want to get this Toa of Earth out, but how? He's in a stasis field." said Tarix. "Ummm... smash it? said Kiina. After Kiina had mentioned smashing the tube, she did indeed smash it. With a quick slice of the glass that held the Toa, the Toa fell down limply, and started breathing again. He stood up, and was confused about why he was here. "Hello there, Toa of Earth. Who are you? Do you know why you're here?" asked Kiina. "My name is Toa Nuparu. And I was in the Black Spike Mountains, but I'm here now for some reason." replied Nuparu. "We'll find out soon, I suppose. For now, you can help us. By the way. I'm Tarix." he said. "Well, Tarix, what's the problem?" said Nuparu. "I'll answer that. The Dark Hunters have taken over the Black Spike Mountains, and we currently leading a charge against "The Shadowed One" along with some other Toa. Will you help us?" said Kiina. "Dark Hunters? Toa? Taking over? I'll certainly help." responded Nuparu. The three then went back up the stairs and back on the surface, where they ran along a tunnel, presumably leading to another chamber. Nuparu had led the way, as he was inhabiting the Black Spike Mountains prior to his capture, and he knew the tunnels and the way around quite well. This eventually led them to the rest of the Toa, who were fighting against a few more Dark Hunters in a hallway outside of a conference room. The Toa were struggling to fight a powerful four-legged Dark Hunter and Sentrakh. This fight was interrupted when Nuparu shot up two stalagmites in front of the Hunters, and encased them in a thick coat of rock. He then proceeded to throw them across the room. "Nuparu! Where have you been?!" asked Hahli. "Well... I've been a protector of the Onu-Matoran here, but I soon woke up in a stasis tube." replied Nuparu.
  9. That's some good chocolate cheesecake.

  10. I would have to agree, Toa Mata Nui looks horrendous. So does Gorast. And Nivawk.
  11. Hewkii and Macku Romantic Adventure... maybe.

  12. Supa brahs 5evah.

  13. Man, this is a controversial topic. During Generation 1's decade-long run, we got lots of constraction sets. Lots. And lots of them. But, for every Brutaka or Maxilos, we get an Umbra or Krekka. Today, let's take a look at some of the worst Bionicle sets, in no particular order. 1: 8625 Umbra When I first found out about this set, I thought he looked pretty cool and interestingly designed. But when I look more at the set, I realise it's quite flawed. The colour scheme is inconsistent, his 'roller blades' are just weird, and the build is a bit clunky. My opinion of this light-wielding guardian may be a bit harsh, considering it's still a mildly okay set, but in comparison to many of the other sets released that year, or the years that came before or followed it, it is quite a bad set. Not only that, but his design is lackluster. To my knowledge, there are no exclusive parts made for him, and the newest things we get out of him are a new melded Rhotuka and some recolourings. In conclusion, this set was uninspired and rushed, looking more like a MOC than an a good, solid set. 2: 8623 Krekka In the winter (summer for all you people from the Northern Hemisphere) of 2004, we moved on from the threat of the Morbuzakh and the Vahki to have more focus on the Dark Hunter duo, Nidhiki and Krekka, who were each given their own respective sets. Whilst the Nidhiki set had a solid build and a good design, the Krekka set didn't satisfy us as much as Nidhiki did. Krekka himself does have some positive things about him, them being a consistent colour scheme and an intended brute look, the cons outweighed the pros. The torso ended up being extremely clunky and bulky for a head moving function, the design is riddled with gaps, and his limbs are quite flimsy. While Krekka is still an okay set, it is mainly let down by it's lack of armour and clunky design. 3: 8912 Toa Mahri Hewkii What I am about to complain about also applies to some of the other Toa Mahri sets, but this Toa of Stone ends up being the worst. Matoro had a slightly awkward build, but still looked pretty good, and Kongu was bulky and lazily designed, but still consistent. Hewkii here doesn't really have any redeeming qualities. His build is really flimsy and weak, and the rest of his build is really awkward. Hewkii has chains again, like his Inika counterpart, which is... okay, he has a really strange mask that tries to substitute as armour, and fails at that, and he is just lazily built overall. Sorry Hewkii, not going to impress Macku. So, that's about all. Besides the Stars line, Bionicle has had a mostly bulletproof reputation when it comes to good sets, so as making this list more unique and slightly pointless. What are some of the worst set in your opinion? You probably have more bad sets on your list than I do. Let me know!
  14. Hello again, readers! Now be mindful that these opinions I will put forth are suggestions. The new Bionicle sets haven't even hit the shelves yet (at least in Australia), and we only have a synopsis of what will happen in 2015's line. In keeping with my belief that this theme should distinct itself more from it's predecessor, I will suggest some new ways to integrate it into the story, but I will still deviate from that a bit with these following suggestions: Add more elements. No matter when you joined the Bionicle crowd, you would always see a collection of six, distinctly coloured and powered heroes/villains dominate both the attention and the shelves. Fire, Water, Air/Jungle, Earth/Rock, Stone/Sand and Ice would be the elements and colours of whatever six-team we saw in any one wave. It is quite clear that this the first 2015 wave is following suit, keeping with the tradition. Personally, I believe we should change the elements up a bit. In the Generation 1 Bionicle story, we have several different elements besides the original six, and those other elements are plentiful. We have: Magnetism, Gravity, Sonics, Psonics, Plasma, Acid, Lightning, Sand, Rock, Plantlife, Light, Shadow, and Iron. I say we introduce another six of these elements into the new story, but further along the way, of course, very much like the Bohrok-Kal. It would be a very nice way to break the mold (with the protagonists), and it also builds upon the expanse of powers in this new universe. Bring back our favourite bio-mechanical animals. So far, the only animals we have seen are the Skull Spiders. That's a good start, hearkening back to the Toa battling Rahi controlled by Teridax, in that this year's heroes oppose creatures. But I feel that just these spiders aren't good enough. I really don't know if the Generation 2 storyline wants an emphasis on nature and creatures, but since Okoto is basically Mata Nui (the island) with a whole bunch more rocks and an ancient city, the story might as well bring back the Rahi. Now I'm not saying that the creatures should be called the Rahi again, as I'm quite open to another name, but the animals should stay. The original island of Mata Nui had a very vast and interesting environment, and this wasn't just demonstrated through mountains and lakes. The Rahi gave the island a lot of character, and whether the jungle was full of friendly Gukko birds or hostile Nui-Jaga helped set the tone. It seems that the island of Okoto wants to seem dangerous, particularly with the menacing Skull Spiders, and if so, then populate the waters, plains and mountains with sharks, bulls and bears respectively. Not only that, but it widens the focus of the Generation 2 world, and expands in the same way that new elements do. Also, we can possibly get another Rahi building competition! Yay! Bring in the Brotherhood. You know what one of my favourite things about Gen 1 was? The Brotherhood of Makuta. They were a collection of antagonists made of a green liquid who specialise in Rahi, weapon and virus creation. Sweet. In Gen 2, however, I am trying to stick to my main rule for this generation, but still keeping the appeal alive. I say that in this story, there are several fields of expertise in this universe, and maskmaking is one of them. Like the new Makuta, each of these masters become corrupt for... whatever reason, and plague the inhabitants of Okoto or whatever new location with their creations. These skills, each with their own, made-up names, should be the following: Rahi Creation, Weaponsmithing, and Energy Crafting. I think that these skills will add some variety to the threats our heroes will have to face, hopefully toning down the dominant use of shadow. With these also come a lot of potential for new enemies, and, yet again, expanding the lore of this new story to become as awesome as Gen 1 was. So, that concludes my surprisingly popular topic. Am I fanboying too much about the return of these Gen 1 story aspects, or are these inspired? Let me know!
  15. I've been rebuilding quite a few things. I'm currently restoring these sets: Toa Ignika Pridak Tahu Mistika Ackar Vultraz Vakama Metru Stronius Vezok I have quite a few projects going on, obviously. My main problems are that I can't find 1-5 crucial pieces... arrggghhh. But I have successfully rebuilt Zesk, Stars Skrall, Stars Gresh, and Stars Takanuva. I would have to say one of the saddest things is that I have to take apart my MOCs... I might upload pictures of them soon.
  16. Excess and such things were here.
  17. Thanks for not making my post fade into obscurity!
  18. Hello there, reader. This topic will basically be a list of my wants and concerns for the Bionicle 2015 line that is coming our way very soon. How is this any different to other posts of the exact same topic? Not much different, actually. But if you have dropped by to read my insignificant articles, you are probably still interested. So, without further ado, I'll tell you of some of the things I want and don't want to happen in this reinvigoration of Bionicle. Number 1 - Don't give Bionicle a TV show. After Tinseltown Toons animated the 2009 movie Bionicle: The Legend Reborn, LEGO have been hiring this company to make CGI television shows based off their toys. To date, Tinseltown Toons and LEGO have been paired for a few years now, and their animation style is both visually appealing and commercial worthy. So, why shouldn't LEGO let Tinseltown make yet another animated tie-in? My answer? The tone would ruin the toyline. Now, hear me out. The Hero Factory show hasn't really been anything like Bionicle, for several reasons, but one of them is the TV series. Tinseltown have to make these episodes with a much lighter and kid-friendly tone because they have to put it on Cartoon Network's channel guide. Cartoon Network aren't the kind of company that would air an episode of Breaking Bad on their channel, because they are a channel that provides entertainment for children. If we have learned anything in the past, Cartoon Network don't really want a show with adult themes, relatable emotions, and a coherent storyline on the air. Cough cough, Young Justice. Anyway, Bionicle doesn't deserve to be dumbed down for the sake of being a TV show on Cartoon Network. Number 2 - Make another online game! As we all know, most of the charm of early days Bionicle came from the beloved Mata Nui Online Game. It compelled us to explore a vast landscape and culture, among the mystery of the Makuta's influence, the tale of Mata Nui, and the danger of the Bohrok. Needless to say, this was an essential part of Bionicle's popularity. So, why not capitalise on this success and make another online game? From what we have seen of the line, it has the same potential that the island of Mata Nui did years ago, and Okoto would be the perfect place to explore. Kids and adults alike can interact with the world of Okoto, and it would really help to set the tone of this new line. LEGO, you might as well give Templar Studios another gig. Number 3 - Give Okoto some personality. A big part of making Okoto a vast landscape with a rich culture is, well, giving it a vast landscape and rich culture. I would personally like to see the Protectors be fleshed out, and that they aren't just sets put out to balance out the larger Master sets. I would like to see some of the Protectors have unique personalities, similar to the Matoran we met in MNOG, because they can't just be cardboard cutouts made to give the Masters applause. Also, give the Protectors something to do. If the Masters are taking care of every single problem on the island, then the Protectors aren't very important characters. In the 2001 storyline, the Matoran had to fight off the forces of Teridax's Rahi for hundreds of years until the Toa finally arrived on the island, and even when the Toa arrived and started fighting off the Rahi, the Matoran had still pitched in and fought against the Rahi and Bohrok swarms when the Toa were off dealing with Teridax. In conclusion, make the Protectors worthwhile characters. Number 4 - Don't slavishly follow the original line's story. From what we have seen, the new Bionicle line seems to have a story that holds a candle to the original story. , the Masters have the same names as the Toa Mata/Nuva, the villain is yet again called Makuta, and the Skull Spiders are essentially a mix of the Bohrok, as the spiders themselves can attach to the Protector's and Master's faces, and presumably control them, very much like the Krana, and the Visorak, as they are also spiders. But we are also offered a fresh new story with an interesting concept which can bring in newcomers. That is exactly what this new line needs. But there is a slippery slope with introducing new stories that are too similar to previous stories. Fans may be clamouring to see characters such as Karzahni, Artahka, Brutaka and Helryx make a return in this new line, but I personally don't want to buy sets that follow a story that would be a photocopy of a previously used script, as much as I love the characters I mentioned before. So, that is pretty much all that I want to see in the Bionicle 2015 line. How about you? If you agree with me or want to murder me with a chopstick because I don't support your opinion, let me know!
  19. If you are looking at this post, then you have most likely seen and read my Tale of the Southern Toa epic series. First of all, thanks for checking me out! And second, I created this section as a discussion page so the actual story doesn't get so cluttered with comments. Feel free to give feedback and constructive criticism about the story. Regards, Turaga Coliak

  21. Tale of the Southern Toa ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sit around, gathered friends. For I tell you of a tale of courage. A tale of despair. A tale of battle. And ultimately, a tale of legend. This is the tale of my friends when we were once Toa, guarding this great land. Or, the land that was. This is the story of what is known as the Southern Toa. Hundreds of years before the migration, in the Southern Islands. "The unfortunate thing about guarding these bore-lands is that absolutely nothing happens. Haven't even seen a Tahtorak get loose. It's just too tranquil for me," groaned a Toa of Lightning. "I would almost agree," said Coliak, a Toa of Air. "But these Matoran exist, if you didn't know, Vokila, and there's always some shady cave in a Turaga's hut, or something." These two Toa had been scaling a mountain on a barren island, only to retrieve a Noble Mask for one of the nearest village's Turaga, whom's own Noble Mask had been stolen by a mischievous Brakas monkey. The Toa had arrived promptly to deliver the Turaga's requested Noble Mask, and they were thanked for their efforts. After this small doing, the Matoran of the village had praised the two Toa of Air and Lightning, probably more so than a Metru Nui Matoran would. This was mostly because the Southern Islands were mostly tranquil and silent. After the celebration, the Toa headed off to meet the rest of their team, all off on their own tasks. "You know, I really do doubt the reasoning behind us becoming Toa, in the Southern Islands, of all places. We have quite a few here tending to each little spot of dirt, whilst the Southern Continent basically needs twenty Toa attending to each village. One Toa? That's all we need," said Vokilia. "Well, we were still chosen. Each island is still a place with it's own personality, and it's much more interesting than an endless city. You would really get tired of looking at all the Solid Protodermis. And plus, this place has a few trade routes, from what I've heard. It's very possible that a few troublesome Vortixx can come over here and deal their weapons," replied Coliak. "I still feel quite restrained though. I have so much power squeezed into my fingertip, all when I have a Lightning Scepter on my back. Never used. Ever." Right as Vokilia had said this, a swarm of Nui-Rama had flown out of a jungle at a very fast pace. Vokila had further focused her eyes to look into the jungle, and found a wild Tahtorak rampaging in the jungle, running around aggressively, causing trees to fall and every little insect to flee from the feral creature. "A Tahtorak? What is it doing in the jungle? That's quite far from it's homeland!" said Vokilia confusingly. "It's homeland was attacked by Visorak quite a while ago. Some Tahtorak may still be living here years after the attack... but it's pulsing with energy! This creature couldn't quarreling over a Nui-Jaga carcass." said Coliak with worry. So, the Toa duo exited their boat and entered the jungle. Whilst Coliak locked the creature in the air to stop him from moving, Vokilia busted out her Scepter and charged the Tahtorak with raw electricity, so powerful it nearly would have killed the great beast. In the time that the beast was unconscious, Coliak inspected the body and found the source of the pulsing energy to be Energised Protodermis. As Coliak looked over the body of the energised Tahtorak, he made a conclusion. “This Protodermis probably caused aggression. He was pulsing with energy, and as far as I know, Tahtorak beasts aren’t as aggressive as a Muaka would be.” said Coliak. “Aggression? Really? Energised Protodermis caused aggression? Unlikely, airhead. The Protodermis probably would have transformed the creature, if he was lucky. Tahtorak beasts aren’t really too keen on jungles either.” replied Vokilia. After a brief argument and eventual agreement on the matter, the duo of Toa got back on their boat to head to their meeting place. It now turns out that the two have more to report about than a few successful missions. The meeting place of the Toa was one of the larger Matoran settlements, which was a thriving place known for it’s rich Protosteel deposits. “I wonder what other missions were undertaken by the team? Probably splitting the food evenly between some Kane-Ra, or asking a loud Matoran to be quiet. How dare he be free-spirited and energetic!” said Vokilia in a sarcastic tone. "Oh, you and your energy. Anyway, I think Gelidu told us to meet here on this island. Seems like a nice place. No De-Matoran here obviously, the place is quite loud for a small settlement like this." said Coliak. Coliak and Vokilia landed on the sandy shore of the island, and were welcomed by excited Matoran. The island itself was a mining-based settlement, with basaltic rocks lining the shores and huts carved into chasms along the mines. The island didn't have much vegetation, but towering trees emerged from just under the surface, and became more dense as it went further down. The huts were sheltered by thick leaves and branches, and waterfalls came from estuaries down into the chasms. It was certainly a great place to live. After gazing at the beauty of the settlement, one of the village's Turaga had greeted them and led them to the village hall, where the other Toa were waiting for Coliak and Vokilia. By looking around, it was quite obvious that the village had a very large supply of Protosteel, to the extent of using the metal for decoration after they had supplied enough for tools. Coliak and Vokilia eventually found their way to the village hall, and found the rest of their Toa team standing in a circle. "So, I trust your assignment was successful? Any little mishaps?" said Gelidu, the team's Toa of Ice. "Yes, it was successful, don't worry. No Kanohi Dragons yet. And your tasks?" replied Vokilia. "Fine. As you said, nothing exciting. Dealt with some near-collapsing scaffold. And you, Takaro?" interrupted Ferolak, the team's Toa of Iron. "Oh, me? Nothing too challenging. Stopping a lava flow? Child's play. So, Coliak, you always some important news. What is it this time?" said Takaro. "Very well, Takaro, here's the news you always seem to know I have. Vokilia and I had encountered a Tahtorak earlier, not in it's preferred habitat, but in a jungle. Keep listening, it gets more interesting. The Tahtorak was being very aggressive, and was pulsing with energy which I identified to be Energised Protodermis. Any theories?" stated Coliak in a slightly worried tone. "Energised Protodermis on a Tahtorak? Tahtorak are quite intelligent creatures and can even speak Matoran, and it takes a dip in Energised Protodermis? Perhaps it was dying from the exposure, and became aggressive due to that." asserted Gelidu. "No, our massive Rahi friend would have died much quicker. That Protodermis is quite deadly." said Ferolak. "Maybe it wasn't a Tahtorak before. Now, hear me out. The Tahtorak would normally keep living in their natural habitat, they could surely keep living there. Any old Nui-Jaga in that jungle could have gone into that Protodermis, and if it was still alive, it could have changed form." said Coliak. "I still think that theory is ridiculous, airhead. A scorpion probably wouldn't transform into an entirely different creature." interrupted Vokilia. "Well, whatever's causing this, there is a pool of Energised Protodermis in that forest, and it could be dangerous. I say we go find that pool and see if any more Nui-Jagas, or better yet, Skakdi and Vortixx have gone there first." commanded Takaro. And so, the Toa team agreed to this plan, and each headed out to the island to search out the Energised Protodermis. When they eventually found their way back, it was no different to how they found it. Each of the Toa stepped onto the island, and immediately, the air was teeming with insects and the jungle was packed with thick, dense trees. "I think the Protodermis may be responsible for this jungle. It isn't really in the appropriate region considering the other barren islands around here." stated Gelidu. After much vigorous searching in caves and under trees, the Toa finally found the pool of Energised Protodermis. This pool was not completely natural though. It was surrounded by stone ornaments and pillars. The stones were also engraved, but the text was harder to read as vines and dirt had weathered the rock, making the text unintelligible. "I've got a feeling someone else got here first..." muttered Vokilia. Soon after Vokilia had said this, the leaves in the jungle had rustled. She had then heard footsteps, heading their way, with each foot hitting the ground with a loud stomp. She could just make out a figure, but was unclear about who this was. The mysterious figure then removed the dense shrubbery to reveal himself and spoke... "I would believe that someone would be me. And yes, I did get here first. Finders keepers, Toa." said Makuta Bitil menacingly. "If you could tell me who you are, that would be favourable, Protodermis hoarder." said Vokilia. "Ah yes. I would rather show you though. Hint hint, Rahkshi powers." said Bitil. Just after Makuta Bitil had mentioned Rahkshi powers, he did his best to demonstrate this. Laser beams seared through the vegetation, logs and stones were lifted off the ground and flung back down, bolts of lightning had come down furiously, and hundreds of insects and a few large Nui-Rama swarmed at the Toa. "As you ungrateful Matoran and Toa would say, praise the Great Spirit for my Rahkshi powers. I always forget how much of a threat you Toa actually are, as it is quite forgettable." bragged Bitil. Bitil soon stopped with all the various powers, and focused more on striking the Toa with lightning and the weather. It was indeed chaotic, and flames from the strikes engulfed the jungle, burning it to the ground. After countless misses, however, Bitil had finally struck Vokilia with a bolt of lightning. "What's this? Lightning? Out of all your so-called impressive Rahkshi powers, none of them are recognising a Toa's element. Have shame, Makuta." said Vokilia. For a few brief seconds, Vokilia charged up her Lightning Scepter. The Scepter had pulsed with energy, and raw electricity surrounded and powered her body and weapon. She pointed her Scepter at Bitil, and the wrath of the skies was wrought upon the Makuta. This surge of lightning was just enough a distraction to keep Bitil focused on his Quick Healing, all while the other Toa had charged up their powers as well. Cyclonic winds were created in an instant, large stalagmites of metallic Protodermis had tunneled out of the ground, the air had dropped to freezing temperatures as Gelidu froze all the surroundings, and hellish lava had engulfed the ground. The mix of elements had certainly irritated Bitil. Then suddenly, a deafening sound was coming from Bitil's body. He was creating a Power Scream. "Get down!" shouted Coliak to his team members. Before he could save the rest of the Toa, however, he quickly created a shield around himself by using strong winds in a small capacity. Right after Bitil had used most of his power on his Power Scream, he created a rather weak illusion to distract the Toa, but it was enough to keep them subdued while he escaped the jungle. This was no problem for Coliak, as he used minimal power to escape the illusion with his Kanohi Rode. A few minutes later, the Toa had all woken up and stood up again. As Coliak scanned the area around him, there was nothing but desolation around him. It would occur to no one that this island was once a jungle. Vokilia woke up and uttered: "That Makuta's wail was quite powerful. We really need to get a Toa of Sonics on our team." "Indeed. A Mahi goat would be happy here. It is quite desolate." said Gelidu. "Anyone know where our Makuta friend is? Maybe he flew off. That would certainly be one of his Rahkshi powers if he could create illusions and control Rahi." said Ferolak. "Off in his little lair, probably. The Makuta aren't exactly benevolent or social. We need to find this Makuta. That Energised Protodermis in the hands of such scum like him wouldn't be a good thing." said Takaro. "Either way, this Makuta is off somewhere, and we need to find him. But we have a small problem. We only have five Toa on our team. We won't be able to create a Toa Seal if we only have five Toa on this team." commanded Coliak. "Exactly. Another reason why we should pick up a Toa of Sonics. Maybe a Toa of Water or Earth, but those aren't my first pick." replied Vokilia. "Well, Toa of Sonics it is. Where is one, though? And we can't give a De-Matoran our power without becoming a Turaga! But surely there is one around here. The Sonics population couldn't be all Matoran." said Coliak. Cut back to Turaga Coliak "And with my statement of possible destination, the rest of the Team had searched every island in the Southern Islands region, with little luck." said Turaga Coliak. "But when did you eventually find another Toa? Did you even find one?" questioned a Matoran in the crowd. "Oh, don't worry, we eventually found something, but it might not be what you were asking about." answered Turaga Coliak. "And so we found other clues to where we might find the Makuta that we were looking for..." continued Turaga Coliak. Cut back to the Toa "Enough with creating a Toa Seal! This Makuta poses too much of a threat for us to wait. I say we storm his little fortress and smash him into the ground." commanded Takaro. "I actually agree with him." replied Vokilia. "This Makuta does have his hands on Energised Protodermis, and that is bad news on many levels." "Well, if we're going after him, how do we find him? Fortresses aren't easy to find around here." questioned Ferolak. "We can try and look for clues. Our Makuta friend is quite social, so some other Matoran or Turaga probably know where we can find this Makuta. Let's go find him." said Coliak. After Coliak's order, the Toa once again stepped onto their trusted boat, and set out to find a new village, but without any real direction. The region of the Southern Islands was known among the inhabitants for it's small islands and large oceans, so anyone living there was well-versed in boat travel and patience. These Toa were obviously part of that crowd. While travelling, however, they saw some strange obelisks in the water, shrouded by fog. As they headed closer to these obelisks, the fog became more and more dense, and the water became to ripple. Waves suddenly formed, becoming larger and larger, creating rough seas. The skies started to darken, and a heavy thunderstorm filled the sky. This wasn't just an angry Toa of Water. Then, a mysterious figure shrouded by fog appeared to levitate above the sea, and said these words: "Greetings, Toa. I anticipate that you had a good trip. Let me send you further." This sentence was followed by a laugh, as the figure parted the fog and revealed himself to be Makuta Bitil. "Ah, Toa. Why are you so persistent with stopping me? I'm experimenting, not flattening villages." said Bitil cynically. "Too bad you Makuta have a reputation for lies. Leave these Matoran alone!" shouted Coliak. "I'm helping these Matoran, if you don't know. They only have their Rahi and technology, because of me. And you underlings only run around doing errands. So, let's see how you feel with my other creations..." said Bitil. "Oh, we are ready for your lousy little Hoto bugs, Makuta. We are ready." said Vokilia. "Are you really ready?" replied Bitil. Bitil had indeed put Vokilia's words to the test. Before the Toa knew what Bitil was doing, they were now in a cave. The Toa looked around them, and realised that they had been teleported somewhere else. The cave itself was rather dull, with old machinery built around the tunnel, and what seemed to be hints of web around the walls. Fortunately, Bitil had not killed the Toa on that boat, but had teleported them elsewhere. The Toa were relieved, until they found out there were only a team of four. Takaro was missing. "Wait, where's Takaro? Shouldn't he be with us? That Makuta kept the rest of us alive." said Ferolak confusingly. "Perhaps that Makuta took him away. Our fiery friend may not have been so lucky..." uttered Gelidu. Before anyone could reply, a peculiar crab-like sound had filled the room. Gelidu used his Akaku to look through the cave, and saw an odd four-legged creature going down into the tunnel. That creature had entered the room, and revealed itself to be a white and grey, spider-like being. It also had two arms that carried a spear and a digging claw each, and had began to speak. "Toa! What are you doing here? How did you get here?" said the creature. "Calm down, calm down! We are not here to harm you. We were teleported here from the Southern Islands whilst battling a Makuta." assured Vokilia. Nervous, the creature escorted the Toa up the tunnel, and found themselves in a large, expansive cave filled with crude huts. The cave was full of these same creatures, but also with some other species. The creature called for attention, and told the inhabitants of the cave that Toa had come. Thinking that these Toa would help them, they cheered. The Toa continued along the cavern, and came across who seemed to be a leader. Confused, Coliak asked this question: "Where are we? And who are you? And why are you here?" "Well, we are survivors, leading a resistance. We are hiding from what lies above." replied the leader. "What lies above? Why does it require you cowering down here?" said Coliak. "First of all, call me Tobduk. Second, we are hiding under our home island." responded Tobduk. "Then why are you down here, Tobduk?" asked Vokilia. "Well, it's a bit of a story, but I'll tell you. We were once a prosperous race on our home island above, only facing week-to-week threats of the occasional troublesome Rahi. That was until Makuta Chirox had started to 'guard' our homeland. Chirox had plagued our land with large spider creatures called the Visorak, and had killed off most of our island's inhabitants. We are now here attempting to escape the island by tunnelling to Nynrah." said Tobduk in a solemn tone. "Tunnelling to Nynrah? That's quite a task." said Ferolak. "If only we had a Toa of Earth." "Though you may not be able to help us with our tunnels, we do still have a job for you." replied Tobduk. "We often send scouts through the upper tunnels to keep watch on the Visorak hordes, but I think you brave Toa could do that for us." "I would be eager, but I'm not too keen on Visorak. Not too sure about that one..." stated Vokilia. "We can't assist with the tunnelling, but we might as well help them. They've had to deal with a Makuta, so we shouldn't give them more pain." reasoned Gelidu. Coliak and Ferolak had agreed to this, but Vokilia was still a bit reluctant to scout out the tunnels. The tunnels looked like they were dug in a few minutes, with sharp stalactites occasionally jutting out of the ceiling. It was dimly lit, with only the occasional lightstone hanging from a lantern. But as they went further up, the tunnels looked more cleanly-cut. Lightstones were more abundant here, and it had appeared that stairs were carved into the floor. The Toa eventually reached the top after quite a long spelunking session, and they saw the only thing you could expect from Visorak - green fog, crumbled buildings, and webs. These webs were probably the densest webs in the Matoran Universe, with thousands upon thousands of Visorak climbing the web bridges. It was considerably hard to just spot one breed of Visorak, as the green fog and webs had shrouded the recent Visorak home. "Wow. This is quite the Visorak nest here. I doubt we'll be able to move another bio without getting assaulted by a million of these things." uttered Vokilia.
