  1. So this here is my 2nd entry to the BftGM Competition. I further exploited and improved upon the gearbox design I came up with on my Toa Viutrian MOC. This is the Skull Spiders' Creator. Main Pic: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/media/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014/Bionicle%202014%20Contest%202nd%20Entry/2014-11-30120155.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Gearbox/function: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/media/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014/Bionicle%202014%20Contest%202nd%20Entry/video-2014-11-30-12-06-08.mp4.html?sort=3&o=4 And the Gallery: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/library/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014/Bionicle%202014%20Contest%202nd%20Entry?sort=3&page=1 It's a very tall, lean MOC; it's about the size of the Kardas Dragon set. I created it for the competition and I didn't really give it a story or any powers so I would like to see what you guys think! PLEASE Leave feedback, story/power ideas, criticism, etc. I really want to know what other people think about this MOC!

  3. The worst years...anything after 2007 bored me to death. 2008 is the year I lost my interest in Bionicle and I stopped buying sets as a result. I love the Toa Nuva as much as the next guy, but the fact that they brought them back annoyed me...I would've liked to see the Toa Hagah return in a new form or maybe even another new team perhaps? And I would say that the rehashing of characters kind of killed it for me. I was also annoyed by how in the previous 7 years, we only knew 1 Makuta and he was just that; we knew he had brothers, but we never knew his actual name. Now all of a sudden his name is Teridax? Sorry, that seemed really thrown together at last minute. As a result of not liking '08, I didn't even follow the '09 story, but from the movie (which I did buy), I don't feel that I missed much. I do agree that the Matoran universe was NOT explored enough. As for the Stars, I bought all but the Rakshii just so I could have more parts to build MOCs with. I was introduced into Bionicle in 2005 though so I didn't really mind the story that year.
  4. I don't think he was saying that the bands themselves are generic (I personally think they are, but that's really a different discussion), rather that LEGO just pulled whatever was trending on the radio at the moment and that happened to vaguely be thematically connected, rather than crafting a song based on their ideas. The songs might have a specific message, but like a lot of pop songs they contained a number of different interpretations that allow it to be easily grasped by any listener, which is what LEGO was banking on. My original point is illustrated in this quote. I'd rather see Lego using thematically connected music for 2 good specific reasons: 1. If it's a popular song, that would widen the audience of Bionicle to those who like the song or vice versa; say someone hears the song on the radio one day and then see the commercial with the same song and thinks the set looks cool: is that not success for both parties involved? If Lego wants to look at marketability, then this is the way to go. 2. If it has the versatility to be interpreted different ways, then it not only is easier to stay with the listener (in this case, a potential Lego customer), but it would also honor Lego's sense of creativity and forming you own ideas. This reason is definitely more subjective, but it is a good point. Now, I'm not going to defend the bands because I can see ya'll's arguments for those two groups being "generic." I respect ya'll's opinions. Just know though, that Cryoshell, while they are a good band, aren't so original either. I'm not calling them generic as ya'll did to the bands I like, but I just want to make you aware that Cryoshell (stylistically) aren't that different from Daughtry. But I really don't want to start a pointless argument, let's just get back to the topic at hand.
  5. I would rather see a return to the 06-07 way; they used some good rock hits that really caught my attention for Bionicle. Move Along by The All-American Rejects and Crash by Daughtry are two songs that make me think of Bionicle and are a joy to listen to. Gravity Hurts was a good song for the first year of listening and then it lost its listening value when I lost interest in Bionicle (don't worry, my interest is 10000% revived now!!!). In case I haven't made my answer clear, NO! I don't want Cryoshell back for Bionicle! I'd rather see Bionicle borrowing music from modern rock hits or heck! Lego is based in Denmark where loads of power metal bands are producing music! I would love to see Evergrey (my favorite band) team up with Lego for this! Or the more well known Iron Maiden. Point is: for Bionicle's reboot to reach me, they should try to introduce me to new music to keep things fresh.
  6. The White/Orange one: This one looks unique and really cool! I really dig the color scheme and I like what you're doing with the custom body. His weapon is a little small, but it's not bad. The only thing I would say to change is the orange wheel pieces on his sides. The green one: This one is cool. He looks very lean like he's a monk and to add to that he's even got a bowstaff. The arms a little long and look slightly out of proportion. Other than that I like this one quite a bit. At first glance I thought the body was small, but it's actually cool like that. The brown/silver one: I like the torso and head design, but the body is just small...I don't think it is proportionate to the arms and legs. I can't really say much else. The Blue/Gold one: The weapon looks small and the arms are a little long. Other than that I like the contrasting shades of blue throughout the moc. The gold is a great match with the blue, nice choice! I hope this helps. These are all some unique designs that I wouldn't have thought of ever. Keep building dude!
  7. Yeah, that was kind of bothering me too, but I couldn't find a shape that I liked better. But I'm really glad you liked it!
  8. I like to think that the masks are ALL like Jaller's and Takua's from the Mask of Light movie: the mouth is separate from the mask. Remember when Jaller died and the mask had no mouth? Not to mention Takua's constant dislocation of his. That's how I like to envision the masks. If we're talking about the actual portrayal of the sets though, I like how 2003's Bionicle: The Game portrayed the sets. They had the 2-finger hands, the same mask/mouth style, good detail (for the graphics), and I loved how the toa mata/nuva looked just like the sets, yet each had personality in design for the game (I think the 2015 Bionicle took much inspiration from the game).
  9. Anyone see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_fmrK6CJTY It's a "hidden" (not so hidden anymore) trailer that another group of Bionicle Fans found on Bionicle.com within the last few days. I'll say what they said, "if you have any doubt about the new Bionicle's story/tone/presentation, this video should hopefully change your mind. Me personally, the music is amazing (as a musician, I love that), but also I really like the animation style; it really feels like The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra (at least it does to me). Check it out!
  10. Look-wise, I really love the Kadin and the Hau Nuva. Power Wise, I definitely like the Hau/Hau Nuva, the Matatu, and the Mahiki. Shielding is a great power to have, but I'd most likely wear the Mahiki if I were a toa; the way that power goes with Matau's personality is basically the same with me; I could use it for joking at times, but also to surprise my enemy.
  11. So, first off, hello, I'm new here! I've been a fan of Bionicle since 2005 and I've been building for a long time. I'd like to say that this is probably the best moc I've ever made and I'd like to hear feedback about it The gallery is here: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/library/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014?sort=3&page=1 This is my entry into the Battle for the Gold Mask Contest. 2015 Story: Toa Viutrian, a toa of magnetism, was once the guardian of Okoto. He was respected by all of the inhabitants, namely Ekimu, until he began stealing from the very villagers he swore to protect. One day he used his magnetic blast to break into a very strong house and he used so much power that he killed the protectors inside the house. Ekimu, who had crafted one of his most unique masks for this toa, was deeply disappointed to hear the news. Before he could search for the toa, Makuta had created the Mask of Ultimate Power and sent both of them into sleep. Viutrian still inhabits the island, though he's been absent from sight for a long time... Weapons: He carries twin Polar Axes (haha pun) which enable him to control the magnetic fields around him to give him limited flight and manipulate the magnetic fields into powerful magnetic blasts. Powers: Viutrian has immense control over magnetism; he can manipulate magnetic fields to cause explosions, create magnetic forcefields, and cause things to levitate (including himself). His powers work better when channeled through his Polar Axes, but he can still perform less powerful attacks and defenses by hand. He can also take quite a beating because he has an immense amount of armor. The MOC itself: Viutrian features a technical build with a very unique gear system. It's unique in construction, but it was made as a prototype to the 2015 gear system: meaning that while Viutrian has the gears, he can still be posed quite extensively. I had him built very differently (sorry, I don't have any pictures of his original version) but I grew tired of him because he had no gear functions and he just looked weird. Please don't be afraid to tell me what you think of him (as a MOC or his story)!
  12. Entry: Name: Toa Viutrian (Though still a toa physically, he lost the name of toa when he began attacking Okoto's Villagers) Element: Magnetism Weaponry: Twin Polar Axes Location: Okoto Mask: Mask of Magnetism Without further adu, the image: http://s295.photobucket.com/user/tititosaurus/media/Bionicle%20Contest%20Winter%202014/2014-11-27162440.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 I will start up a thread about it asap!
  13. So when we enter the contest, how many photos do we submit of the creation? Also do we just submit the photos or background story too? Or what?
