  1. I just finished a pack of levels for Doom 2, the Japanese Community Project, along with a mod called MetaDoom. I think I've spent the greater part of a month finishing it? I've been trying to get all the secrets on all the levels, aided by YouTube and some generous use of the noclip cheat. Really flipping hard, but I had fun with thirty-one of the thirty-two levels, and MetaDoom's a sweet mod. Now I think I'll dig through the pile of demos I downloaded off of IndieDB.
  2. I recall a guy going by fattermadigan on the BioMedia Project forums posting up 3D models of all the Toa - all six, Mata and Nuva, not just the ones that had levels in the game. I'm curious, are there models for all the Toa Mata and Toa Nuva in the game, or did he recreate them from scratch? Here's the link to the forum post: http://biomediaproject.com/bmp/board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=88
  3. "Don't tell me you forgot the marshmallows."
  4. Might I bring this to your attention: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/19093-marshies-lovely-eight-bit-kit/ I assume you're trying to make Super Mario Bros. with Bionicle characters? These seem like the perfect sprites for it.
  5. I think the colors were all available in official sets except for the lime green Gali hook. The red Pahrak shields, though, I know were in the Bahrag set.I can confirm the hook is authentic, I have one in the same color.
  6. I don't hate Hero Factory, but I don't really like it that much either. Mostly because of CCBS. To me, the skeleton-plated-with-shells concept always looks... I don't know, tacky. Hollow. Plastered-on. And I was a little annoyed how we had all the wonderfully detailed pieces from Bionicle, and then Hero Factory brought these simple polygonal shells as the new way of building. The third and final nail in the coffin was the fact that the shells didn't use any Technic pin holes, they were all minifigure-sized. You couldn't build off of them like the older Bionicle parts, you had to use add-ons to the shells, which made it look even more tacky than it was to begin with. So because I didn't like CCBS, I didn't get many of the sets, and as such I never got into Hero Factory. But I don't hate it, I'm just frustrated at it.
  7. Another question just came to mind. Have you tried this out with Nuva armor, by any chance? If so does it work well?
  8. Sweet! I wish I had a 3D printer to test this out with... aaaugh. Is the joint at the waist a ball joint or just a swivel one? And what's the other point of articulation?
  9. You can surrender. You can run. But you can never, ever hide. Ooooooohhhh my gosh Metru Nui is one of my favorite years and the Vahki are some of my favorite villains. I'm tempted to rebuild one of my Vahki in this spindly, skeletal style... if I may make a critique, though, the back of the head doesn't look quite right. I think it'd look better if it were thicker, maybe with some pieces on the bottom of the lime wing piece? Other than that, I love it!
  10. "Whoa! Is that a hammer?" "It's also a fully customizable, high-impact stud shooter!" "What?" "It's also a gun." "Oh..."
  11. I don't even like Nintendo, but let's get the ball rolling here. Just took a look at Unity's website, apparently Unity 5 supports the Nintendo Switch, and so does the Unreal engine to some extent. So now I wonder how easy it is to code up a game on one's PC and get it running on the Switch. I think out of the last dozen downloads I got from IndieDB, more than half of them were Unity-based, so I wonder if there would be a way to just download a demo off of there, stick it on a flash drive, plug it into the Switch and play. If that happened, I wonder how Nintendo would react if someone coded up, say, a Pokemon fan game in Unity and ported it to the Switch. Actually, I've seen stuff about an NES emulator, coded in Unity, that takes the previously 2D games and gives them voxel-style 3D graphics. Now THAT'D be interesting to see on the Switch. (Just found it, here: https://geod.itch.io/3dnes) Also, I know people use Unity for virtual reality games as well. I know Sony fired up their own PlayStation-specific brand of VR recently, I wonder if Nintendo might follow suit with VR gear for the Switch. And if they ever did, I wonder how many indie devs would use Unity to port their VR goodies to the Switch.
  12. I'm kindof intrigued now, if you mixed the OD parts from said bootleg with 2016 Pohatu and possibly some additional tan parts, if you could come up if a camoflage look. I'd be interested if I could come up with a CCBS airsoft or paintball player.
  13. Even so, you have an audience on DeviantArt as well as here on BZP. I know there's still plenty of Bionicle fans out on DA (I've been thinking about joining their ranks), so I don't think it's a problem of Bionicle itself losing fans. BZP, however? Not so sure. I don't know, really, if forums are losing popularity. See, for me, it's not BZP along with other social media outlets, BZP is my social media outlet, so comparing it to Tumblr or Twitter or DeviantArt doesn't make much sense to me. Personally? I think forums have their time and place. When I think of what goes on here - fans debating some obscure piece of lore or the morality of bootleg parts, posting a fan game and getting such a wide audience to play it, the pun wars in Soran's comic thread, the text-based RPGs - I can't see it being relegated to a blog, or a profile page. Forums, to me, have a sort of back-and-forth conversational quality, as opposed to one person dumping something into the Internet and getting comments on it. As long as people want that sort of conversation and discussion, I think forums will stick around. And here's hoping BZP sticks around with 'em.
  14. Yeah, it's missing red... but at the same time, I'm not sure how I would go about just adding red details, not whole red armor plates... maybe decorative use of red 2-axles? I'm not sure. As it is I'm happy with it staying the typical Grimm black-and-white. Yeah, the legs are bulky too... I was thinking about using black Rahkshi legs, but I already had them on another MOC I didn't want to take it apart. Maybe black Piraka legs would work. Personally I kinda like the chunky legs, I think it makes him look like a muscular brute.
  15. First off, some credit where credit is due. This MOC was inspired by NickonAquaMagna's crossover drawings between Bionicle and RWBY. In particular, you can find his Grimm Rahkshi design here. Secondly, Brickobotface built a Technic version of Crescent Rose. The thing is awesome, check it out here. Because of his MOC, I was prompted to create a proper villain to go up against the scythe. And voila, here's a Grimm Rahkshi. Now, on to the pictures! Action Pose (that for some reason Google Drive won't let me imbed in this post, grr) Front Side Back Kraata Screech Armed with Staff Enjoy, leave a comment or critique if you do! -Jaga
  16. Holy cow, that thing's a monster! I did a version of Crescent Rose a while back, albeit simpler and on a much smaller scale... how does the unfolding work? Does it all unfold when you extend the handle, or do you have to pull open some of the pieces by hand? That clockwork handle is genius, my friend. I love it. Even though it'd probably make all of my current MOCs fall over holding it. Including the tank I have built right now =P Would you consider doing any of the other characters' weapons as well? I have some ideas on Qrow's scythe-sword and Yang's gauntlets, but now I'm not sure if I should bother putting them up =P Seriously though, I wonder how they'd come out in your style, seeing this.
  17. So I found Lego Island Xtreme Stunts at a thrift shop the other day. It installed without a problem on Windows 10, however, whenever I run it, it's very likely to crash. For reference, it has crashed on the first cutscene, as soon as the TV reporter starts talking; at the very beginning of the first car-chase minigame (Freeway Frenzy I believe is the name); and after I talked to the sign for another minigame (Motorbike Mayhem, I think). Is this a common problem, and is there anything I can do to make it crash less? Thanks. -Jaga
  18. Have you ever played Ace of Spades? Think Minecraft with guns. Every bullet and explosion takes out pieces of the map, and you can quickly put up structures to replace the pieces of the map that are falling apart. I'd like to see a mod that does something of the same thing with Lego Worlds. Turn on a first-person camera angle, have a few basic weapons (shotgun, rifle, SMG, grenades), and let your shots destroy and remake the map at will. You could save LDD models as structures you can quickly build, as long as they're, say, fifteen pieces or less. Another mod I'd love for LW: parkour. Build a race course and then run through it, bouncing off walls and stuff. Include physics to handle slopes on walls and floors, as well as maintaining momentum. Antennas could be placed as poles you can grab and swing on, like Mirror's Edge, or rails to grind on like Sonic games. Curved tubes and pipes could accomplish the same. Add parts to act as speed boosters or trampolines. Of course I'd love a new Bionicle game whenever Gen3 rolls around. Last but not least: Lego Racers 3/Drome Racers 2. Build your own cars then race them in some sort of online multiplayer. Have all sorts of wild environments, from Mars to the Arctic, rainforests, deserts, maybe even undersea and underground worlds. Again, this could be a Lego Worlds mod or it could be its own standalone game. I just want Lego Racers with multiplayer other than split-screen. And the Drome Racers were awesome, why not revive them?
  19. Jonathan Frakes as Tahu, Brent Spiner as Lewa, Levar Burton as Pohatu. MAKE IT SO
  20. I didn't even know the Fikou had a Nui variant! Where is it from? I've been working on college stuff, trying to earn credits before I actually leave in the fall. Other than that I've been daydreaming for Malkhar and gaming a lot. Gen2 was fun while it lasted, but it's hard to mourn that which was so criminally under-developed in terms of story. I've been thinking about going back and revising some of my (non-Bionicle) stories, too. Seeing as those kept me busy while Gen1 was dead (and for most of Gen2 as well) I guess I'll just go back to them now. One of these days I'll get a demo done, sometime...
  21. I think CCBS wouldn't work the way it traditionally does (a skeleton plated over with shells), but I could see it working for something like hooves for horse Rahi or shells on a turtle or crab. I think the Elemental Creatures had a good balance with this, with only a couple shell-type parts (the head and the paws on Terak and Melum).
  22. Throw this on the pile of Ideas To Make Gen3 Not Suck Whenever It Comes Around. So it was mentioned in the talk-back of a recent news post that Gen2 didn't get any collectibles, which were a part of Bionicle from the beginning. Let's fix that. Some of you might recall the Bionicle Master Builder Set. I personally didn't own the set, but it introduced us to all sorts of interesting Rahi species, like the beloved Ussal crab, Fikou spider, and the Kewa bird. These Rahi were also small - the smallest (Fikou) had 13 pieces, the largest (Fusa) had 74. For the purposes of this topic, I'll assume the Rahi had an average 50 pieces. Being made of small Technic parts, we would probably consider them polybag sets today. On the opposite end of the spectrum, one of the complaints about Gen2 was a lack of creatures. There were the skull spiders and the six elemental creatures, and that was pretty much it. If you assume the average price per Lego piece is somewhere between ten and fifteen cents, the price of a fifty-piece polybag is anywhere between $5.00 to $7.50. As comparison, I believe a booster pack of Pokemon cards costs either five or ten dollars. (Pardon my math if it's old, it's been a while since I've bought a Lego set firsthand, or played Pokemon TCG.) Lego could create a bunch of different small Rahi designs, between 30 and 60 pieces. They could package these Rahi as random polybag sets. Then run a sort of marketing campaign: "Tame the wild Rahi! Collect all ten!" They would be about the same price as a pack of trading cards (give or take), plus, they would be Lego. You could actually build the thing instead of having a picture of it on a card. Then take your Toa and Matoran sets and have fun with your miniature Rahi army. What do you think? Lego has done random collectibles with minifigures and Nexo Knights, could it work for Bionicle again? -Jaga
  23. With Lego City Undercover getting re-released sometime soon, will you try streaming that sometime?
  24. Oh, and to answer the original question, no. Pohatu will always be the Toa of Stone. We love him too much to allow that. Unless the Environments route is taken, then everyone changes, and I see no harm in that. Firstly, "environments" restrict the addition of more characters if Lego would decide to go that route at any point. There's only 6, maybe seven environments to go with. Second, just changing the elemental roster solves this problem with far less complication; if their powers are designed to all be different, there's nothing to question. Third, making Pohatu a Toa of Iron wouldn't do anything harmful to him, no more than making Lewa a Toa of "Jungle" harms him. Thought: There could be a lot of environments. Tunnels (the Maze, the Underworld), Sky, Jungle, Volcano, Desert, Undersea (the Depths), Glacier, City, Storm. These could tie to Earth, Air, the Green, Fire, Stone, Water, Ice, Iron, and Lightning, respectively. The idea that each Toa has the power of a certain environment is only as limited as one's imagination when coming up with said environments. Going this way of thinking, I would like to think Light and Shadow would be two different sides of a Star environment - the radiant Light of a supernova and the Shadows of a black hole.
