Need BrickFair/Bronycon Travel Advice/Help
Avohkah Tamer posted a blog entry in Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum
As I've mentioned elsewhere in posts and comments, I'm hoping to attend both BrickFair and Bronycon this year due to their relatively close proximity to each other and being on consecutive weekends. (For reference, BrickFair is July 29 - August 2, Bronycon is August 7-9). Here's the problem. Should I fly home after BrickFair and then fly back for Bronycon, or do I try to stay somewhere in the DC/Baltimore area all week until the end of Bronycon, and then fly back home? If I stay the whole 2 weeks, I don't know what to do or where I should stay in the days between BrickFair and Bronycon. Should I reserve extra days at the Holiday Inn post-BrickFair and just chill at a hotel the whole time, or should I get to the Baltimore Hilton early and stay for a few days prior to Bronycon? Or, heck, is there anyone who lives in the area who's attending both cons who I might be able to stay with for a couple days and then hitch a ride to the Baltimore Hilton? That would save me so much hassle (and money o_o). As of right now I haven't actually purchased any reservations or plane tickets because I'm not sure how this will all pan out, but reservations for both cons are running out and plane ticket prices are going up, so I need to figure this out pretty dang quick. If I have to make a decision to only attend one, I'll pick BrickFair. Sorry for the rambling. Any help or advice would be immensely appreciated. Edit: I should also mention, regarding BrickFair: Please PM me if anyone's looking to save some money and either has space available or would like to share a 2-bed hotel room at the con. I should have space available. -
Electronics, particularly ones with cameras or outside communication, are pretty strictly prohibited at least in my local courthouses. I'd recommend a physical book like the others above. You'll be there for quite a while even if you don't get selected. From what I've heard, aside from being boring, jury duty's not so bad. Funny story: I've been called for jury duty three times within a period of two months before, but never actually ended up serving any of the times. They mandated that I call in every evening to see if I've been selected to show up early the next morning, (not enough time to even inform my boss I wouldn't be in) which went on for 5 straight days, and then dismissed me when selection finished. Then, I got another jury duty letter in the mail a week later, and then another one a couple weeks after that. Insane. After all that, I ended up calling in and complaining, and they marked it in the system that I "served" so that I wouldn't get any more letters for a minimum of a year, haha.

Although it launched during the hiatus, so I can't actually speak for how quickly they will add new episodes, the site I mentioned in my last post, MLPstream.org, looks to be the most reliable option for watching past the point where the Youtube copies get taken down. They use their own site hosting and player, so individual episodes should stay available unless the site itself is taken down. I'm just hoping their server can handle the load. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

Not sure about Discovery Family, but new episodes might go up on MyLittlePony.com since there's already episode-streaming infrastructure there. I'd keep an eye on fandom sites for the Youtube/DailyMotion mirrors for same-day watching, otherwise you'll probably be able to find new episodes on MLPstream.org. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

I've even got a brony meetup on Saturday night, so I'm planning to bring it in HD for everyone to watch/rewatch! I can't wait. Also, I wasn't able to post about this sooner since it would have been a double post, but for those of you who don't follow my blog, I finished my song cover a couple weeks ago. Here it is if anyone wanted to check it out: ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

Or specifically, the fourth anniversary of the night I started the show and became a fan! I know I made and posted my annual song cover a few weeks early, but I'm really glad I did, because two days later I came down with an awful and persistent cold that's even still affecting my voice. Anyways, not a whole lot of new stuff to talk about this year, since season 4 ended shortly after my last anniversary entry, and the fandom has seemingly gone into a bit of a hibernation during this insane 329-day break (not counting EqG: RR) before Season 5 starts this Saturday. Even still, meetups have been awesome, fan-created creative works are higher quality than ever, I've definitely made some good new friends in the past year, and I'm really looking forward to what this this next year will bring. I'm even hoping to attend Bronycon this year if possible, since for once it doesn't conflict with the Brickfair VA weekend! Oh, also, if you haven't already seen my song cover mentioned above (of "You'll Play Your Part"), It's only gotten a handful of views so far, and I'm really proud of it. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

Jeez, it's been ages since I last blogged. So although it's not my 4th brony anniversary until the end of the month, I've already got my new song cover ready ahead of time, so why don't I just go ahead and post it early: I know, I know, I said before that my next cover would be The Flim Flam Miracle Curative Tonic. I still fully intend to record that song to bookend my first cover, but this amazing song from the season 4 finale really just resonated with me and I had to record it first. Also, it's finally an excuse to record a song starring best pony. (I'll leave the question of "which one?" up to your personal interpretation) What do you think? ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

Season 5 premiere date is officially announced for April 4th! Just one more month of hiatus to go, think we can handle it? =P The premiere episode, avoiding all synopsis spoilers, will be a two-parter airing back-to-back starting at 11:00 am (Eastern, most likely). In other news, I'm working on another pony song cover that I'll either post on my blog this weekend, or save for a couple weeks for my brony anniversary. I'm pretty proud of how it's turning out. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

██ Hm, to me it looks like an orangey shade of red. But, I mean, I can only see the dress as white and gold, so take my opinion on colors with a grain of salt. If you'd prefer science, according to various color picker websites I checked, #CC3300 / rgb(204,51,0) is just barely closer to red than it is to orange. By that I mean, just changing it to #CC3400 / rgb(204,52,0) would be technically considered a shade of orange.

No need to double-post, Official topics are exempt from the revival rules. That said, we really should be getting this topic active again since season 5 is right around the corner. No date's been announced besides "spring", but if I recall, most of the past seasons weren't officially announced more than a month in advance unless the information came from some other site. Rumors claim April, but it very well could be by the end of this month. I don't think the delayed start is anything to worry about though, Hasbro's been very positive about the show in all its recent press releases and investor calls. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

That's so incredibly generous of you! I've been looking for one of these for ages, so I'd love a chance in this drawing! ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH) -
I took the train once. It was alright, but took a long time and I had to be picked up from the train station. If you pick that route, you could see if any members with a car might be able to pick you up or drop you off, as it's not TOO far away. All things considered, I'd probably recommend a flight if it's affordable. It should also be mentioned that if you're planning on staying at the Holiday Inn (where the con is held, right across the parking lot from the convention center itself), there's free shuttle bus transportation between the airport and hotel, which is super convenient. As far as cost goes, not much can be done about the flight prices, but you could see about splitting a hotel room with someone else to save money on that.

This sort of situation calls for a hero with an... ORANGE TRANSPARENT CHAINSAW

but you're not even tradable for another week what's the point *grapples away*

I farmed gifts both in 2013 and this year. SO MANY DUPES but I'm still missing several I wish I had, like Haunted Hat and Mann-Bird of Aberdeen. EDIT: Oh by the way, if you're looking for transmogs or Halloween Spells, you're gonna want to get them and use them within about the next ~3 hours from now. Item descriptions say they expire at 08:00 GMT.

Whoops, yes, six. I meant six. Most of mine are floaty-behind ones I don't particularly care for. Once I got the 2014 cauldrons and achievements, I basically spent all my time farming gifts, mostly last year's.
-
I'm gonna have so many dupes to delete and costume parts to organize tomorrow. I wish it was easier (or cheaper) to trade for the specific costume parts I want most. All 8 6 of my 2014 cauldron items suck and I'm not one for buying/opening crates.

Personally I was torn. There are positive and negative aspects of both. Still not super happy about the news today, but I reserve judgement for when I know more.

I guess as far as I can tell, it's because most of the entries and comments were seemingly written with a tone as though they were part of an argument (or perhaps expecting one), even though pretty much everyone seems to mostly agree already? I'm pretty sure the only actual difference in opinion (if you can even call it that) is how and when it might be appropriate to call someone out on poor grammar, i.e. in a serious or professional context.

Hey, guess what today is! If you answered "The 86th anniversary of Sir Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin!", you'd be correct! Another valid answer would be MY BEST FRIEND'S BIRTHDAY That's right, Scythey (aka Ryuujin) is turning 20 today, so get to posting some birthday wishes! I was too lazy to record a song, so here's a RANDOM BIRTHDAY VIDEO I found with PICTURES OF CATS: ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH)

BZPower Front Page Updates
Avohkah Tamer replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Can't wait for the full overhaul, although for the purposes of remaining iconic I hope that it keeps most of the basic ideas and image themes of the original. This is transitional, so I won't really complain much about the actual design elements and module boxes right now (except maybe the double space under the Premier Members block, just ergh), but I do hope that the social media buttons will be less... obnoxious in the final design. They're important to have visible, I think, but they really very badly clash in that top section. Regardless of location, though, they just don't fit well with the design. Basically, I'd really like to see the final design incorporate custom social networking buttons, maybe prominently in a grid on a sidebar or something, instead of the stock buttons we see now. ~ (A VTOAHMKEARH) -
