  1. With the exception of a small handful of characters, I completely took apart majority of the sets and put them in separate sandwich bags. Shelf space is getting limited in my room and with the series having ended, I decided there was no real need to having every set out. It makes me wish there were better ways to store amiibo as well.
  2. I'm actually extremely dissapointed that it's ending right now. I had so much hope for the series when I bought Kopaka '15 at launch and as whiny as it sounds, it all kinda feels wasted now. But having boughten every G2 set, I can now say Lego won't be getting any more of my money, since it was the theme that got me interested and not the parts in the figures. If I need other parts for MOCS or anything there's Bricklink.
  3. '15 Ekimu is awkward since he has no open spots that would work. I could remove a shoulder armour and have him raise his arm, but that just makes it look odd. What I did is took a 3-hole beam, two half studs and a pin/axle piece to make something that Ekimu can hold in his hand and the falcon can sit on. Like so. Here's Doomerak for size comparison. And regular Umarak. So it does work on '15 Ekimu, but you need to remove his shield to accommodate the falcon at the very least. When I get home, I'm going to look at my spare parts and around his gearbox to see if I can't make any minor alterations so the Falcon has a spot to perch on him.

  5. (I don't usually type on the non-mobile version of the site so let's see what I can do with the formatting...) So here's the results of my first bricklink order as well as building Ekimu's Falcon. Parts List: If any links are messed up, please let me know. Black: 48729b (2x) 3705 (2x)93571 (2x)32039 (2x) 18651 32184 Pearl Gold: 95344 15362 15070 11091 (2x) Light Bluish Gray: 61252 14418 11477 2736 92907 41677 Dark Bluish Gray: 99021 50923 18654 Reddish Brown: 24316 (A bit rarer of a part, but it's worth noting that one of the beasts, (Storm Beast IIRC,) comes with a ton of these. + 1 Light blue Stud (I didn't hunt this one down since anyone who's bought a set with a stud launcher should have millions of these left over.) Pictures of assembly: Parts spread out I like to start with the head The capped end of the axel links on to the pneumatic hose. Further along, tail is added. The main body as well as part of the neck is held on by size 4 axels. The balled ends need to be pointed backwards towards the tail. Simply attach the head and the wings and you're done! Assuming you want the shield too, you'll need to make one of these. Pictures of the Falcon, Ekimu included! First, the Falcon alone on a perch. Pose 2 On Ekimu's Arm On Ekimu's Shoulder (The armour was moved to the shoulders like Protector-sized Ekimu's is.) (Couldn't settle on any lighting in the room. :/) Asking the real questions. I tried real hard with the links, so please let me know if something's not right. I'd be more than happy to take pictures of the Falcon from any other angle I missed as well. Or with a different Toa/Character.
  6. As an update to a previous subject: I recently placed an order on Bricklink to get what parts I think are in Ekimu's Falcon. I've never made a bricklink order before, but I'll keep you guys posted when the Falcon is finished.
  7. Hmm... I wonder if that was intended for Gali or Kopaka. The tubes seem to look like they could be for breathing underwater - and the shape is certainly similar to Gali's final design. But on the other hand it has one of those electronic eye things that Kopaka had in the end. I'm gonna throw in my hypothetical two cents and say it's a mask designed for underwater. Looking at the "breathing tubes" on the front combined with the flat, squinty eyes looking like a diver's mask. The thing on top that resembles Kopaka's scope could easily be a light as it gets dark underwater.
  8. I really want to know the story with this thing. I like it more than DoomarakIt honestly seems to me like just a preliminary Photoshop concept for the combi model we actually got instructions for. Among other things, it's not clear how exactly Lava Beast's mask is supposed to be attached over top of the Mask of Control, and Quake Beast definitely doesn't have enough purple to both transplant its right arm onto Umarak's back AND cover both of Umarak's lower legs. While I'm very curious at how the mask attaches and have tried a few ways myself, I do believe quake beast has enough purple spikes. I count one on each of the legs and one on the upper back-tail. The picture isn't very clear either, the ribcage could be used on the tail as well. I'm still looking at the mask though, IF that's Lava Beast's mask there and not some other strange part that's too blurry to make out. It seems to be missing some red.
  9. I was at the mall of America a few days ago and the only set the lego store there didn't have was Ekimu.
  10. I really want to know the story with this thing. I like it more than DoomarakI like that it borrows traits from all 4 sets instead of just making the Destroyer even bigger. I'm not a fan of the purple mace on his back though. The lower tail is fine but the purple one looks like an awkward second tail on his back.
  11. Doomarak really lives up to my expectations. I'm actually quite pleased with it.
  12. I have them taken apart. I put one of each color in a box with the toa's mask and all the others are in a sandwich bag. The feet are in a sorted parts box.
  13. No need, we already have our seventh Toa in the form of Ekimu.I was about to say that as well. Ekimu, while by title is the "Mask Maker" seems to be our Toa of Light, even if he isn't explicitly called that. What color scheme would the Toa of Light have that would differ from Ekimu? Edit: And I adored Takanuva as a kid, so it's not like I have anything against the character. I'd actually love for him to return but Ekimu hits that spot well.
  14. Regarding gold mask hunting, that doesn't seem to be as much of a focus in the unity sets. They pretty much find the masks as soon as they do the creatures so mask hunting doesn't feel as prominent. I understand wanting to include both regular and gold masks with the uniters, so it doesn't seem as bothersome to me I guess. The only way I can think of to make it better would be if the toa's masks just turned gold when they united with the creature rather than make it a separate mask. That's not so farfetched considering the gold masks toggle on and off in the graphic novels (from what I've seen.)
  15. I'm more curious as to what will happen to the creatures. The protectors were pretty much written off, but the creatures seem like they should have a much stronger bond with the toa. So I'm gonna go out on a huge hypothetical limb here and say that the creatures will permanently merge with the Toa to force them into a newer "ultimate" form where they're at full power. For the sake of throwing ideas out there, I'll also say the golden and regular versions of the masks might just combine into one singular mask. Like the body of the mask is the main color and the secondary color blended in will be gold; much like how the silver is blended in to the regular masks of the uniters. As for a last-ditch attempt at nostalgia, maybe the next masks for the toa will be literal remakes of their original G1 Mata Masks with a minor modification to attach in the same way new masks do. That's all I can come up with lol.
  16. It's a tad disconcerting that TRU has certain sets before a LEGO store. TRU stores also reaaaalllly don't care about street dating. They put the product out as soon as it arrives in most cases. (I remember in the earlier waves of Amiibo launches, TRU would always put them out way ahead of the actual launch. That kept happening until they got in trouble for it.)
  17. Please let us know how that goes. I'm really wanting it myself lol.
  18. For those of you getting UtD, I've found adding a small ccbs ball-joint and axel piece to the hands really help give it movement. Like the piece they used on Onua 15's neck or something a little longer.
  19. Lava is swarm, Quake and Stormy are singular characters i.e. stronger and will serve as "lieutenants" for Umarak. I guess. That's odd. The poster #2 on the official site has multiples of all 3 beasts.
  20. I'm interested in what that Desktop Bohrok did lol.
  21. I only got as far as the end of Metru Nui in G1 before it was decided by my parents I was "too old" for bionicles. So I'll admit I missed a lot of lore and story. But from the early impressions I got out of G1, I always assumed Mata Nui was their equivalent to a god. Makuta (I guess Teridax is his real name?) always seemed more like a devil too.
  22. I actually feel sympathy for them if that's true. If the beasts are swarm type characters you'd think there'd be at least a few that escaped corruption. Although if they do become allies, I'd be all for updated/prettier versions in the future like Ekimu got. Granted I imagine the creatures and beasts will just get written off like the Protectors.
  23. Well they're covered in some sort of goop in the box/booklet comics so we can assume they just blorped out of the ground. And considering they're beasts (ergo likely less sophisticated and more primal) they shouldn't be fully covered in armour or using complex weapons like blasters (it's nice to see a whole wave that doesn't have a single stud launcher in it.) Both this summer's wave and last summer's suffer from lack of interesting mask molds. Granted, unlike the skull characters, it makes sense for the beasts to not be wearing "masks" in the sense that the toa and such do.
  24. I'm pretty sure that's the *point* of their design. They aren't supposed to be pretty or sleek. While they're a little bare-bones in some areas, so was last summer's villain sets with those arm/leg pieces they all had. Imo, the functions and builds are better than last summer's clap-tastic Skull Basher or plain Skull Warrior and Grinder. It's cool to see such ambitious builds and traits for a cheap $15 set. Really, the only complaints I have are OCD-based like Quake Beast's leg armour is in different colors and that one of the beasts doesn't have that ugly trans. yellow/green. I'd rather they all have it or or all have different colors. As for the claws, that's only been with the beasts and creatures and that's due to them being animalistic instead of humanoid. The beasts and Destroyer all have different builds for their hands/claws so a new mold wouldnt work at all.
