  1. wow we made it a whole 'nother week and i actually managed another on-time update. i expected to have fallen off the wagon by this point but here i am two whole updates in. god help us all. #04: Post Haste now, i feel here is a good place to remind everyone that i am essentially perfect, that i do not make mistakes, and that anyone suggesting that the previous comic was modified, altered, or "retconned" in any way, such as to add a small carrying bag to the featured character, is a liar and a slanderer. cool trivia to tell your friends: masterful spriter though i am (stop snickering at that), i can't do backgrounds for beans. just can't do it. hence, the lovely heavily-distorted photographs you all get for backgrounds. maybe if i were an actual artist with actual art education, i could get by without the help of wikimedia commons, but alas. in the mean time, today's background comes to you courtest of the roman amphitheater. incidentally, you know what i have discovered is the toughest part of all of this (besides backgrounds)? titles. i thought i did good with #03. since then i've been drawing blanks. i neither confirm nor deny that this was my intention but you may henceforth surely expect pixels to turn up in odd places. would you say you were sole-ly mistaken? anyway one more thing for the night, our lovely palu is seen here wearing a mask that is entirely new, which exists nowhere in canon. because, honestly, what would a brand new bionicle adventure be without a few brand new masks to go with it? so have here a brief look at the Kanohi Gadjati okay that's all i've got for you today goodnight everyone see you all next week
  2. dang guys it's been an entire week and i said i'd be back with something by then and i actually am so, here is the third comic, and the first proper update 03: Running in the Nuis i guess this is where us professional comic makers are supposed to respond to our adoring fans so i suppose i'll do that now if you think that's good, wait 'til we get to actual dialogue fact: the concept for BLoT originally began on the three fingered island, before moving to various other body parts, before settling on the toe. for no particular reason other than that the big toe is the funniest part of the body. it's true. please expect the official marshie-approved © limited edition desktop wallpaper to be released in the future i can't wait to see more of your pretty face on this thread. all of your pretty faces, in fact spoiler: the ultimate climax of the story will be a galactic pokemon battle between prototype-body mata nui and makuta. makuta uses mostly legendary pokemon, because he's kind of a jerk like that. this was fun let's meet up again in a week and do this again
  3. hi all it's me again i kind of vanished for a bit there is a reason for that and that reason is this i wanted to make a sort of example series for my lovely 8-bit sprite kit, so here we have it. you can expect updates... uhhh.h.... once... a week? ish? let's shoot for that for now. i'm going to completely slip up on that, but for now we'll pretend like i'm actually going to present a new comic every single week. yes... so, without further ado, i present to you... BIONICLE: Legend of the Toe (or just BLoT, for short) Summary: Everyone knows the tale of the Toa and Matoran of Mata Nui. Through the years, they performed great feats, fought terrible evil, and captured the hearts and minds of a generation. It was their heroics that unveiled the Makuta's plot, and they who defeated him and restored the Great Spirit. And since everyone already knows all of that, we're not going to bother with them at all. No, this is the tale of a wholly different set of Matoran, those that live and prosper on the island of Odhiki Nui. Similar to Mata Nui, Odhiki Nui is an island paradise. But unlike Mata Nui, Odhiki Nui was never menaced by the evil of the Makuta. Join these, the Matoran of the Toe, as they live their lives under the care of the Great Spirit and Turaga Rama. Theirs is a story that will become the stuff of legends. Archive Page 01: In the Beginning Page 02: Scroll Page 03: Running in the Nuis Page 04: Post Haste <new!> Current Comic Extras: Kanohi Gadjati
  4. your positive feedback feeds me it does not, however, make me less lazy, apparently here we have the metru matoran body finally finished, and the absolute bare minimum of work done on the rebuilt matoran body for me to be able to say i did something anyway keep an eye on this space more will come, probably
  5. tonight the masks, tomorrow the WORLD
  6. who needs luck when you're marshie today's bonus: 33% of the great spirit robot (please note the gsr is not to scale with the rest of the kit)
  7. i'll just quietly leave this here today we have whenua demonstrating the new turaga kit. is he doing a happy jig? is he throwing an old man tantrum? you be the judge
  8. i would certainly not discourage a project like that but i feel like i am obligated to warn anybody considering it that the end result will probably be lots of stress and ripping your hair out, and also you will hate yourself anyway today's matoran comes to you courtesy of my good friend who builds things when i ask him to. the matoran build in question edit edit: minor update 06/29/2015-ish: just cleanup and tweaks mostly. the mctoran body looks nicer now, some other stuff was cleaned up, got rid of the earliest sprites because they are just horrendously out of date by now, etc etc etc. what's that? why is there a giant mata nui head? because... because. because stop asking me hard questions is why. that said, i am going to go on radio silence for a little while. just a few days and then i will be back to drawing pixellated thingamajigs for your viewing pleasure...
  9. that is an 8-bit rendition of mata nui yes. a very rough, very unfinished 8-bit rendition of mata nui. anywhatsit here's something that's been a long time coming: toa mata bodies! of course there are no limbs yet that fit these torsos, so........................................ ahaha did i say there were no limbs well that is just patently untrue, how silly of me well, take them anyway. they look pretty cool, i think.
  10. uhhhhh i said i'd try to do a mask a day at the least, soooooo... okay i didn't do a whole lot today. have a kaukau. that is not really a big enough update to bother updating the spritesheet just yet, hrm. in the mean time, uh, here. have this half-finished mata nui. minor update: okay, so, TECHnically this is only one half of an actual mask, but listen, the akaku is a real pain in the butt okay and i mean a REAL pain in the butt. also there is now a matoran pod off to the side there, for some reason.
  11. gen2 stuff is currently on my "list of things to sprite after this kit is actually somewhat useable" but if you have particular requests then there is a very real possibility that i will end up doing them as an excuse to procrastinate on the other stuff. or that i may procrastinate on your requests by working on the stuff i'm actually supposed to be working on. it's a very complex mobius cycle of procrastination.
  12. allow me to do exactly nothing to help you resist that urge v. 0.0.3: mctorans make their appearance, + another mask (it's the kakama) i am kind of lazy so i am trying to do at least a mask per day if nothing else
  13. i have heard your prayers and, much like a benevolent god (which i am legally obligated to advise you i am not), i have turned them into substance behold, the pakari v2 + also a miru and a hau more shall be forthcoming
  14. Marshie's Lovely 8-Bit Kit a lovely kit for lovely people salutations friends and people. i am the one known as marshie, and as you can see i have started drawing a sprite kit. because drawing sprites is just what i do. anyway, let's get into what this kit is about. if you couldn't tell from the title, this lil' sheet is done in eight whole bits of color. that is two-hundred and fifty-six entirely different colors and if that doesn't blow your mind i don't know what will. the old nes-style type graphics is the theme for today, and i've included an nes palette on the sheet that i typically use, but you are by no means limited to using just that; really this is more about the simplistic style than the colors, after all. or at least, as simplistic as some of these pieces can get while still being reasonably accurate. what even is UP with that metru matoran chest piece, anyway?? so! as you can see this sheet is nowhere near finished yet. i've barely started on it in fact. but worry not, at the very least i intend to have a much wider array of masks to choose from within a day or two or three or seven. limbs, of course, will be expanded as well, and i will be adding bodies as i feel like it or stumble on a nifty MOC i want to spriterize....... but that's for the future. for now, have this barely useable sprite sheet: current version: 0.0.11 additional items: great spirit robot as i said, work in progress, expect many updates. many, many updates. also feel free to tell me what stuff you want to see here specifically; i just jump around randomly on these things but if somebody wants something specific i'll probably actually do it. or if somebody has a nifty moc they want spriterized well i do love working with that sort of thing... there's practically nothing on this thing yet, so i'm not exactly expecting some explosion in popularity but if anybody does want to use it for whatever then go for it. i don't have any restrictions on use, but it'd be cool if you let me know what you're doing with them so i can check it out and rate it five stars. unless the rating is out of ten in which case i'd be happy to rate your project 10/10. that is all, please go back to your daily lives now. hopefully your life has been enriched by the knowledge that marshie's lovely 8-bit kit is a thing that exists.
