  1. Indeed. I haven't even gotten to the really scary stuff yet, such as EVERY OTHER BIONICLE VILLAIN EVER. Except maybe Sidorak. He sucks. Gee, someone's taking Web of Shadows as accuracy a bit too far.

  3. Granted, but you must produce 30,000 words of prose a day or suffer the rage of Harlan Ellison for two weeks straight, every waking hour interrupted by rage, every minute of sleep shattered by nightmares of him, your phone ringing nonstop and your email inundated with his insulting emails. I wish that David Lynch made a BIONICLE film.
  4. What's your profile pic from? I know it but I can't remember who it is.

It's Albert Camus, an existentialist philosopher/author, and all-round cool guy.

      Ah, now I remember. Thanks.

  5. Can't tell if that's a mask or you're really good at Photoshop.
  6. I'm sorry to hear about this. My thoughts go out to you, his friend; and his family. May he rest in peace.
  7. R.I.P. William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist is a great novel that became a great film.

Never seen the movie. I am honestly scared to.

It IS scary. It doesn't pander to conventional horror movie tropes, opting for very little music and some fine cinematography that creates a sense of almost documentary-like realism. The direction, acting, writing are very good. It's also a rather profound meditation on evil and the exorcism ritual is accurate to historical examples.

  8. "I had my 'stache done at ماشطة التاريخ. And the sword? Ah, well, that's another story entirely... or perhaps an epic poem".
  9. Lol. Sounds good, I'll keep an eye out. About PM'ing the story that'd be great, mate. I love a bit of Branar - he's one of the characters who should have gotten more page time.
  10. Aww, that tugs at the heartstrings. Great job, mate.
  11. A terrific poem that mixes sly wit and epic story with a true love of its source material and some clever rhyming. Plenty of fun linguistic pyrotechnics, too. Good job. Here's a smiley to celebrate.
  12. You know, I need to read that. I watched the movie version (not knowing it was based on a book at the time) and absolutely loved it. Have you read Blood Meridan? That's another one of his that I've been meaning to read for a while. Edit: Just finished listening to the audiobook version of Crime and Punishment. 14 cassettes, probably about 20+ hours long... I've been listening since March or so (just while taking showers for the most part), so it's been a while. But holy [nvm my bad language] that's such a good book. I loved it. Dostoevsky has a great writing style, and is fantastic at character building. I have read Blood Meridian, and it is phenomenal (quite possibly the most violent work of literature ever written). It's also one of the most linguistically brilliant novels of all time. I'm a big McCarthy fan. It's funny that you were listening to the audiobook of Crime and Punishment, because I'm listening to the audiobook version Brothers Karamazov on top of my reading. Finished reading No Country For Old Men and Some Do Not (the first novel in Ford Madox Ford's Parade's End tetralogy, which is a little like Ulysses but older, easier, and set at a more interesting time). Currently reading Power Without Glory, a controversial Australian classic.
  13. Alright lads and lassies, I haven't had a good Internet connection for a while, so a (very late) Merry Christmas to all!

  14. Finished reading The Exorcist. It's a pretty good book, a surprisingly deep horror classic. I'd recommend reading the 40th anniversary edition - the original novel was actually a first draft and the 40th anniversary edition polishes up the prose and dialogue. I'm currently rereading Cormac McCarthy's No Country For Old Men. Brilliant book, one of my favourites.
  15. And a hapy papy bthday to me, while it still lasts.
