  1. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn He glanced over at Kreigero. He had hoped Atamai would pick some place he--and presumably, the trapper--had already been, but an unmapped part of the Wahi was both an exciting prospect and a worrying one. Some of these places Savrehn had always wanted to visit out of curiosity, some he avoided because the bad feelings he would get near them. Nevertheless, he wouldn't be one to back down or tell the Ta-Matoran to pick some place else. He nodded to Atamai. "Alright, then. Find yourself some gear, then meet up with us at the front of the village." Savrehn checked his watch. "Sunrise. Bright and early." OOC: @BULiK@~Xemnas~
  2. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro "I understand what you mean," Nale replied with a giggle. "That's where the healer told us to go, too." She crossed her arms and shrugged. "But tracking it down will take awhile, I think. We can talk about it more over lunch, but...would you like to come along, Nara? An extra set of eyes wouldn't hurt." OOC: @~Xemnas~@TL01 NUVA
  3. IC: Datrox Karvan - Po-Koro - Streets Kohra's hesitation to use her left hand was certainly odd, but Datrox didn't think too much of it. Maybe she had injured it. For now, his mind was more on getting her some aid. The drifter helped Kohra to her feet and kept her steady, then gently began leading her to a more shaded area, and the nearest drinking fountain. "They installed these pretty recently," he said as they approached one. The convenience of modern Po-Koro. "Have yourself a drink, you must be pretty dehydrated." Datrox thought for a brief moment. Maybe she was lost. Could have had friends or family that were missing her. "Anyone you know that might be looking for you?" OOC: @Vezok's Friend
  4. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn "Just the essentials," he said. "And no whining if you forget something at home and want to go back for it." What Kreigero said was important. You needed a destination, you couldn't just stumble out there into nowhere and have the wilderness find you. The Ta-Matoran was already inexperienced, and Savrehn didn't want him leading them around the wastes aimlessly until they fell down a crevasse. "I have a map with me," he said, reaching into a pocket on his backpack and pulling out a rolled up piece of parchment. He walked back over to the counter and placed it in front of Atamai. When unrolled before him, the Ta-Matoran could see various areas around the Wahi that had already been circled or crossed out. Question marks had been written over unmapped areas, of which Savrehn seemed the most curious of. "Pick somewhere, and we'll go." OOC: @BULiK@~Xemnas~
  5. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro As Nale left Cael's hut, she had to admit she was feeling a bit hungry as well. And you couldn't search for legendary medicinal plants on an empty stomach. Outside, she was greeted by a familiar face. I know her... "Oh, Nara! Hello," Nale said, giving a small wave. She glanced over at Eita upon hearing the Ga-Matoran's offer. "That...that would be nice. Thank you. But are you sure you don't want me to pay for it?" OOC: @~Xemnas~@TL01 NUVA
  6. IC: Datrox Karvan - Po-Koro - Streets "Kohra," he repeated, nodding. "Nice name." Datrox glanced over his shoulder, looking for one of those newfangled public fountains. Left behind, crawled here...this woman had gone through a lot. The fact she couldn't recall much was no surprise, trauma did that to people. He put his hand out. "Here, let's get you out of the sun, yeah?" OOC: @Vezok's Friend
  7. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro - Cael's Hut "Sure, it's not far from here," she replied. "But Po-Wahi is a big place. Even if we narrow it down to just the canyon, it'll be a lot of ground for us to cover to find just one plant." A magic plant that could cure all ailments. Nale knew the healer was too experienced to be making it up, but the fantastical nature of it made it seem even more likely it would be hard to track down. She placed her hands on her hips. "I guess that's our next stop, then. You sure there's nothing else you want to do here before we set off?" OOC: @~Xemnas~
  8. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn "I said that," Savrehn corrected. He took his drink and, after a moment where it seemed like he would down it all, instead produced his flask and a funnel from his backpack and refilled it. The Ko-Matoran then placed the empty glass back on the counter. "History doesn't matter out there, in the wastes. It's what happens in the now, right in front of you, that does." He got up from his seat and retrieved his belongings, his red scarf now wrapped around his neck again. He was fine with being a guide, helping people to see the beauty out there. Understand it. But this Ta-Matoran had rubbed him the wrong way. "You should go out there alone. Don't need us. Maybe you'll learn how to listen out for a Muaka, then--if it doesn't maul you first." Savrehn nodded to Kreigero, happy to have met someone who might have seen things the way he did. Warmed the old man's heart a bit, like the liquid in his flask did. The mountaineer almost walked out then. Stopped right at the door, though. Could feel the cold air seeping in the cracks. Could just leave. No, this didn't sit right with him. Boots refused to take another step. "How much you carry?" He asked the loudmouth firespitter without turning to face him. "If you bring too much, you just weigh yourself down with junk. Bring too little, and without the right experience you walk right into your grave." OOC: @BULiK@~Xemnas~
  9. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro - Cael's Hut "The what?" OOC: @~Xemnas~
  10. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn He let out a coarse chuckle at that. She really could bite back. Savrehn looked over to the Ta-Matoran, the amusement on his face fading as he spoke, replaced by something more serious. "You don't understand," he began, "because you haven't seen what I've seen." Savrehn tapped two fingers against his chest in emphasis. "Felt it inside you. The mountains...rosy morning sky..." His optics began to travel across the room and upward, looking towards something invisible. Like he could perceive something outside the walls of the inn that the others present couldn't. "...it's not until you're out there, by your lonesome at night, huddled down and hoping you don't hear the crunch of snow beneath Muaka paws while you wait for that pink sky to come as the sun rises that you get it. You really get it. The Wahi...it's rewarding you, like it's honoring you for living another day out there." He scoffed at Atamai. "You don't understand it, because you haven't lived yet." It sounded like the ramblings of an old man, but there was earnestness to it. It was obvious something had touched Savrehn in a way that this Ta-Matoran could not comprehend. Perhaps the trapper couldn't, either. And maybe they never would. The mountaineer looked towards the bar again, grabbing Rhanus's attention. "Drink." OOC: @BULiK@~Xemnas~
  11. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro - Cael's Hut Nale sat down next to Cael, keeping her focus on Eita. The mention of Makuta in the conversation made her tense up, and a cold chill ran through her body that she quickly shook off. She preferred to ignore it all, but it was hard to avoid these things. Becoming harder by the day. She watched Cael do her work. Migraines shouldn't have been too much for a healer, should they? The Toa should have been able to at least alleviate them, even for just a bit. But Eita's condition hadn't changed. Nale frowned deeply at the Dashi. She felt bad for bringing him all this way, after what he had been through, and been unable to help fix that. He shouldn't have to keep suffering these migraines. Nale wanted to say she was sorry, too, but instead just sighed. But something Eita had said to Cael made her curious. "You have amnesia? You really don't remember anything before you lost your memories?" She stood up and crossed her arms, beginning to pace the room in thought. "Maybe whatever caused your amnesia is what makes you have these migraines. Or, maybe...maybe those lost memories are causing it." OOC: @~Xemnas~
  12. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro - Cael's Hut Nale looked around the room briefly, taking in its details. There was a nice blue glow inside the hut being produced by its lights. A sort of calming hue, that she found pleasant. She sat down in one of the chairs to wait, only to notice Eita motioning for her to go with him. "Oh! Uh, alright," she said as she awkwardly stood up again. "I'm Nale, by the way," the Fa-Matoran said as she followed Eita and the Toa healer into the back room. "I'd heard you were the one to go to for things like this, and well...Eita doesn't really know his way around here." OOC: @~Xemnas~
  13. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro "Great," she replied, smiling back at the Dashi. "Like I was saying, I may know somebody around here that could help. Follow me." Nale lead Eita further into the village, some times taking wrong turns that the Fa-Matoran insisted were really shortcuts. If any attention had been brought to the Dashi following her, it was little--his appearance probably didn't seem much out of place here. Eventually, after doing a full circle around the center of the Koro, the pair came to a stop outside a distinctive hut. After some brief hesitation, Nale knocked on the door. "Hello? Is this the local healer? Oh, what was her name...Cael." OOC: @~Xemnas~
  14. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro She nodded in understanding, then placed a finger to the chin of her Kakama in thought. This was something. "Well, I don't know how much help I would be, but if you wanna find a cure for those headaches...I could always come along. I'm guessing you don't know Mata Nui very well, right?" OOC: @~Xemnas~
  15. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro "Maybe, I'm...not from this village. I was just here today for--" Nale cut herself off. For work? For someone to come along and say "join my adventure?" "--anyway, I was just passing through. I'm Nale." She frowned. "Are you in a lot of pain?" OOC: @~Xemnas~
  16. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro "Oh," Nale replied. That answered that. So it was an exodus--these people were looking for safety. She suddenly felt as though she picked a bad day to be in Ga-Koro. Or, maybe, this was perfect timing. "Are you injured? Your head seems to be bothering you. Maybe you should rest, or something." OOC: @~Xemnas~
  17. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro More people were disembarking the ships than Nale had expected. A lot more. It looked like an exodus. She moved closer, trying to get a better look. One of the beings, a shorter one (Matoran?) was coming her way. Had a Calix. Nale waved to get his attention. Maybe he would have some answers. "Hey, what's with these ships?" OOC: @~Xemnas~
  18. IC: Datrox Karvan - Po-Koro - Streets He felt around under his cloak. Had he brought any...? "No, it's...are you alright? It's not good to be out in the sun like this, you look..." You look pretty bad. Was she homeless? A drifter, like him? The Toa of Fire crouched down to be at optic level with her. This way, the Vortixx wouldn't be looking into the sun, either. "My name is Datrox. Did something happen to you?" OOC: @Vezok's Friend
  19. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn He smiled sardonically to the fire, before turning around to face Kreigero. She could see it in the Ko-Matoran's optics--he was much older, and what experience he had gained in his time alive had clearly turned this old man bitter. Maybe a natural part of aging is eventually you get tired of having to be pleasant to other people. "You can bite back," Savrehn said, apparently pleased by this. He unwrapped his scarf and hung it from the fireplace to dry. He gestured towards the bar to get someone's attention only to realize Rhanus was gone at the moment and sighed. Flask needed a refill. The mountaineer walked over and sat beside Kreigero, placing his backpack on the floor beside him. "If you were anyone else I wouldn't give you the time of day," Savrehn said, not looking at her. "But I can tell you and I are cut from similar cloth. We've seen the Wahi, the mountains, the wastes...seen them for what they really are." He banged his hand on the counter a couple of times to get Rhanus's attention. Lousy. "Savrehn. The name's Savrehn."
  20. IC: Datrox Karvan - Po-Koro - Streets In his time drifting from place to place, he had never expected Po-Koro would become a veritable oasis in the middle of the Wahi. Walled in from the desert, fortified. Beautiful, and... ...ah, screw it. Datrox Karvan was never one for words. Truth be told, he was just bored on the tram ride. The Toa of Fire had an image, and the lonesome drifter taking public transportation was not part of that image. Sure beat walking, though. Just didn't have the same cool factor as strolling into town, cloak billowing in the hot winds of the Wahi, the sun reflecting off of his visor. Yes, very cool. It was impressive, though. He'd rode the Iron Mahi before. Seeing that kind of technology spread, become more commonplace here, meant that things were truly advancing. The shape of Mata Nui was changing. A new day. Even as the feeling of something terrible looming weighed in their hearts. The Toa of Fire found his stop, and stepped off the tram into the streets of Po-Koro. Both familiar and unfamiliar. What was he doing here again? Hoping something would happen, he thought as he walked along, optics surveying the people and buildings around him. That something would fall into his lap. A fleeing pickpocket, someone in need of a drifter's help, someone... ...someone who looked to be in rough shape. A Vortixx woman, it looked like. This was a sad sight. Datrox glanced around, bystander effect taking place as he checked to see if anyone was going to check on her. Help her. You're the altruist, he mentally chided himself, shaking his head. You go talk to her. He stepped closer, flipping his visor back to reveal his coral optics, a look of concern on his Huna. "Ma'am?" OOC: Heya, Corv. @Vezok's Friend
  21. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn He let out an amused Hmph and crossed his arms, focusing on the fire again. It wasn't long before Savrehn figured out something else to say. "Muaka probably think he looks tasty. I don't bring pets with me out there, don't need to draw attention to myself like that." The mountain man glanced behind himself again at the Hapaka. "What's his name? Bait?" OOC: @BULiK
  22. IC: Savrehn - Rhanus's Inn The front door of the inn opened again, not long after Kreigero had sat down. Another Ko-Matoran, wearing a distinct red scarf, a layer of snow across his shoulders and the top of his Kanohi. He wouldn't be there long. Just passing through. Savrehn shook the snow off before entering proper, then made a beeline for the nearest fireplace, taking in its warmth. He was quiet. The look on his Tryna was one of introspection as he focused his optics into the fire. Eventually, he glanced over his shoulder at Kreigero and her Hapaka, the repetitive shlorping beginning to grate on his nerves and interrupting his train of thought. They let animals in here? "Cute pet," he said. His voice had the same quality of the crackling embers.
  23. IC: Nale - Ga-Koro Currently, she was pacing awkwardly around the port with nothing to do. As a Fa-Matoran, Nale had the gift of being a living compass. A natural ability to know where she was going better than others. Navigators were always useful to travelers, especially those traveling by sea. If someone was in need of one, they probably had a ship, and if they had a ship... She sighed. That wasn't the life for her. But it was a life, of going out and doing things. Nale could make herself useful, be an asset to a crew. A team. Something. The alternative was boredom. Being sedentary. All things considered, she liked her life as it was. It just needed oomph. As many unfamiliar ships rolled in from the sea, Nale watched with curiosity. Maybe one of them needed a navigator.
  24. Name: Datrox Karvan, the Drifter Species: Male Toa of Fire (he/him) Description: Wears sleek, form-fitting Metru red and black armor with a tattered black cloak over it. His face is adorned by a modified Great Huna, with a retractable blue visor which usually conceals and protects his coral optics from the elements. Stud.io MOC Equipment: A large, unwieldy-looking black sword he calls his "obsidian blade". It resembles the volcanic glass it is named after in appearance. Personality: Datrox is the Mata Nui equivalent of a lonesome cowboy, drifting from place to place with little to keep him anchored. If help is needed, he'll provide it--free of charge. He has a strong sense of justice, almost to a fault. He fears being forgotten to history, and his work is part of an effort to be remembered. A mention, even. Flaws/Weaknesses: His lighter armor gives an agility buff, but also means that he's less protected. Datrox has always had a problem with getting in over his head with things. He'll sooner leap into a situation before assessing it, and this can easily end up disastrous. Sort of like an excited Hapaka puppy. Name: Savrehn, the Mountaineer Species: Male Ko-Matoran (he/him) Kanohi: Noble Tryna Description: Savrehn's armor is mostly white, including his mask, with a secondary color of light blue that appears almost transparent (like ice) under his pale armor. His optics are amber-colored, with visible aging around them. He wears a red scarf, apparently knitted by his own hand, even when in warmer regions and despite his own passive ability, seemingly unbothered by temperature change. His boots are worn from traveling, with visible quick repairs done here and there. He also carries around a Matoran-sized backpack which carries his equipment. He wears a simple watch, bronze in color, on his left wrist with the face inwards. His voice is gruff and he speaks directly enough that some might consider him "rude". Stud.io MOC. Equipment: He carries: x2 ice axes x1 pair of snowshoes x1 flask, for "warming yourself up" x1 pair of snowshoes x2 lightstones x2 heatstones x1 map of the known regions of Ko-Wahi Personality: Savrehn can be best-described as a "mountain man," someone who has spent much time in the Ko-Wahi wilderness. He prefers to be alone, usually, but is willing to help those who need it (especially when the dangerous Ko-Wahi wastes are involved). History: Having fled from his home during the occupation of Ko-Koro, Savrehn sought no help from other Koros nor did he lean on them for support--instead, he headed to the wilderness, where he brushed up on his survival skills and became the man he is today. Now that Ko-Koro is free, he's happy to see it return to its former glory...but disappointed in its increased militarization and policy of mandatory military training. For now, he considers himself a "consciousness objector" (although he has never filed as such) and dodges the draft as much as he can and only returns to the village for needed supplies, all while serving as a guide to those inexperienced travelers who wish to venture out into the snowy Wahi. Flaws/Weaknesses: Savrehn takes the solitary mountain man thing pretty seriously (bordering on a hermit), and has little interest in friends or help. In dangerous situations, he generally assumes he can get out of them on his own. The equipment Savrehn carries tends to weigh him down. When carrying all his gear at once, he is slow and lacks agility. Name: Nale, the Mediator Species: Female Fa-Matoran (she/her) Description: A fit Matoran of average height for her kind, Nale's armor is dark Metru blue--mainly her mask, chest, and hands--with black in most other places. She wears a Kakama, and her optics are ice blue. Stud.io MOC Equipment: A Matoran-sized spear and buckler that she tends to carry them around on her back for the most part. Personality: Mostly confident, but can second guess herself often. At times she suppresses her emotions to give the appearance of stoicism only to find that, holding them back, bottling things up, only makes them stronger in the end. Flaws/Weaknesses: Nale has personal space issues, disliking when people stand too close to her or make physical contact with her. Not one for hugs or high fives. She believes she can step in and solve any problem, never realizing she might just make them worse. Name: Surdo Species: Male Fe-Matoran (he/him) Description: Average height. His main armor color is burnt orange, with a secondary of dark gray. He wears a powerless noble Komau and his optics are light blue. For extra flair, he wears a Matoran-sized brown duster over his armor, owned by a former friend who passed. He was told to burn it out of honor for said friend, but he refused. Equipment: A pair of custom brass knuckles and an ornate walking cane. The head of the latter has been designed to resemble the head of a Muaka. Personality: Surdo seems friendly, but in reality he often forges friendship with ulterior motives in mind, and seeks ways to use other people to acquire things he wants. Usually through theft. Flaws/Weaknesses: He is recovering from a recent leg injury that requires him to move with a cane, although if required to he can still defend himself somewhat. This still leaves his leg as an easy weakpoint. Has a habit of fleeing when things get too hot to handle, and will quickly abandon others to save his own skin.
