  1. Another piece of excellent artwork, please keep them coming! In my humble opinion, Umarak looks a little less evil here. It's not a critique, just an observation. Despite many examples, I don't always associate red eyes with being evil, likely because of Toa Matau and Keetongu.
  2. I agree, but I think Lego held off for a good reason. The Woody figure we got a few years back had those excellent extra-long minifig legs that so perfectly captured the character. I'm willing to bet Lego doesn't want to use that mold again, as I haven't seen it since. Woody just wouldn't look right to me in standard size.
  3. Hmmm. It looks like the Toa don't have their golden masks. I can't think this is coincidence, since each beast will come with a corrupted mask for Tahu, Kopaka and Onua.
  4. I will never be able to give enough praise to this video. Pure perfection.
  5. Ralph Fiennes was such a spot-on choice for Alfred. I might be reading into it since I'm such a Batman fan, but Fiennes sounds like he's both annoyed with, and concerned for, Bruce. I look forward to them playing off each other (hopefully).
  6. That Astronaut is really awesome. He's got the detail and helmet from Mars Mission and the air tank from classic space. I'm very partial to classic space, so it doesn't take much for me to seek out anything LEGO puts that famous emblem on. I think the Flying Warrior looks better than the Hawkman minifigure put out earlier this year.
  7. I like how they added a little depth to the maze. From G1, I was disappointed how little time Mata Nui spent in the maze on Bara Magna. I'm glad BIONICLE is taking another swing at this idea.
  8. I always enjoyed during the earlier years of G1 how LEGO released several instructions for 'Kaita' models. I'm glad to see this trend has remained. I wonder if the new story team will ever incorporate a Toa Kaita into G2.
  9. I thought it was very satisfying, both in terms of animation and acting-wise. While some of the dialogue was a little awkward and overly expositional, this was truly minimal. The music, while fitting, was a little disappointing. The MNOG animations' music, in my nostalgia-goggled eyes, was really top notch. What I really want is to have watched these episodes as a member of the target age group. It is still sometimes difficult to watch the first two years' worth of G2 story unfold without, even subconsciously, drawing comparisons to G1.
  10. I downloaded it this morning, and have played it for a little bit. It's pretty fun, I have to say. The action sequences are great, and it offers a reasonable level of challenge. The only two things I feel could be improved ironically have nothing to do with the gameplay itself. I miss the character bios from Mask of Creation, and it would be great if I could look at the comic without having to restart the game. Of course, I could be wrong and maybe just haven't found these things yet, but I'm really at a loss for where these controls might be.
  11. I really hope it takes the Toa a little bit longer to acquire the golden Masks of Unity. It happened so quickly last year. It felt like more of an accomplishment the first time around (granted, each Toa didn't have to find 11 other Kanohi this time).
  12. I'm impressed with the art style. It reminds me of a beefed-up MNOG, which is a very good thing. Mask of Light might not have been the greatest BIONICLE media, but I really felt satisfied with the voices. When Tahu Nuva spoke, it just felt right. I've always read his dialogue in that voice since. I really hope the new voice actors can meet the fans' expectations. Umarak's voice isn't bad, but it just doesn't seem to fit him much. I was kind of hoping Umarak would be kind of a silent, yet menacing hunter, with a Ron Pearlman kind of voice. I guess when I first saw Umarak, I was kind of hoping he could be a BIONICLE Deathstroke.
  13. I have mixed thoughts on Ekimu. His color scheme looks unbalanced. Too much of any color is usually off-putting, but being too translucent looks especially bad to me. I also miss the old days, when there was an equal number of villains for the heroes to fight. I feel like Ekimu can face off against Umarak, then three Toa can face off against the three beasts, while the remaining three Toa cheer from the sidelines. I know the smaller wave-size is based on sales (or lack thereof) numbers, but I would gladly trade another Ekimu for a well designed baddie.
  14. This is a cool set, but I can't help but feel that Lego has already stretched Hoth to its brink. I already have most of the components for this set, between all the battle packs and re-releases of the last five-six years. The main problem with this set is that Lego has already pretty much created the 'best' versions of this set. The Wampa is the same as the one in 8089, the base is kind of a watered down 7879, and 8083-4 take care of the Imperial and Rebel troops. The only new thing I see here not released previously is that big sphere-cannon. I know most of these sets aren't that recent, and new fans need access to these sets, but I feel like purchasing this thing would be redundant for a lot of older collectors.
  15. Very creative use of the Jayko helmet visors! I really like the use if the Onua claws.
  16. I like how the art captures a sort of raw power and dynamic movement in its setting. As much as I enjoyed the 2015 animations, I felt it made the BIONICLE world smaller. By contrast, these two pieces really show how big the Okoto landscape is. On an unrelated note, is it weird that Lewa was shown with his creature, but neither Onua nor Tahu is?
