  1. 10 years? I've been a bionicle fan for 10 years? Wow. Anyway, I remember getting this game for Christmas in 2006, and I played it to no end. The bonus levels where you do nothing but fight endless amounts of enemies were pretty cool. And the piraka playground,ah, memories. I'd say my favorite part of the game is the soundtrack. Avak's themes and the title screen being my favorite tracks. I'll listen to them every once in a while, actually.
  2. I quite like them, actually. They might limit posing a little bit, however in the case of Skull Warrior and Umarak, (two out of three sets with bows) they both include a secondary weapon. I like how the bows look, though. It's a nice change up, and I just like bows to begin with. I have one myself.
  3. I went with the Inika build, for pose ability and maybe some nostalgic reasons. I actually really liked some of the glatorian builds. As for the matoran, the Tohunga win by sheer cuteness. Little Onepu, Kongu, and Huki stand smol on my shelf, and they always will.
  4. Putting in another vote for tahu and ikir, the wings and extra bulk really help fill tahu out and they look great as one. As for the beasts, it's a close one. I really like storm and lava beast, but I'm giving it to storm on that it's like a bionicle raptor. I'd also like to go with the consensus and say umarak the hunter is a great choice. Also, if $20 sets qualify as titans, onua 2015 is one of my favorite bionicle sets to date.
  5. Much appreciated, as I haven't quite mastered CCBS yet. Looking forward to them! Edit like 2 minutes later: just saw them on the Flickr stream, thank you, kind sir.
  6. Kinda off topic I know, but would the dorek be able to get some more pictures of that overlord makuta? Like how the pictures for this makuta were done? Completely understandable if not, just figured it's worth a shot to ask.
  7. That's a tough question for me actually, set wise, it's very close. The protectors are great little villager sets, that are an important part of bionicle I think. They're the whole reason the toa are here, to protect the islanders from threats too big for them to handle on their own. They're colorful, have great weapon builds, and a decent bit of variety for their small size. That said, they are kinda similar in build, which is where the creatures have the edge. Each one has a unique form and function, and they're just as colorful and full of life. They're about equals in my eyes. As for the toa, I think the 2015 masters have it. I like the 2016 toa, but some of them are just awkward with short arms, odd color choices, and weapons that aren't quite as spectacular as last year's. However, I still quite like them. All the trans colors give them a very vibrant presence, and the sharper masks look like they mean business. The 2015 toa are probably the best toa to date in my opinion, they have everything. The masks, the weapons, the colors, the gear functions, the variety between each one! There are some things I could nit pick about them, like the exposed ball joints and a few odd color choices, but those are minor flaws in my eyes. Each one is great. I didn't think I would like the beasts much at first, having them in hand though, I'm pleasantly surprised to say the 2016 summer wave could very well beat the 2015 one. Each definitely has their flaws, but as a whole, they're great. I like the skull gang, they have some really solid sets, but they just aren't as intimidating as the beasts in appearance to me. I honestly can't pick between the two, I love them both.
  8. The two gold pieces on uniter kopaka look very out of place to me, but that's the only thing I can think of at the time.
  9. The rest of the summer wave is available as well, sans storm beast. However, it's important to note that these are not being officially sold by Amazon, but rather third party sellers on Amazon selling them at inflated prices.
  10. I could see the torso you described being an intersting idea, although I think we've got plenty of creative and new gear functions between the 2 waves of toa and their gear functions, the creatures, LoSS, basher, Scorpio, storm beast, the destroyer, and so on. Every wave introduces a new function of some sort, and I hope that's a trend that continues, because I'm loving it more than a 20 piece chicken nuggets from McDonald's.
  11. you're free to have your opinion of course, but in mine, bionicle G2 is far from "horrifically disappointing. I feel it wears the bionicle logo well. As for the original question, I've got no idea, I guess it would depend on how well the line does this time around. If it survives another 6+ or so years, maybe a G3 could be feasible. But even if such a thing was to happen, it's very far in the future. I'm just gonna enjoy the new sets that have been put out for now.
  12. I found a sealed ultimate dume set at a flea market, for a dollar. That was a good day.
  13. Hopefully this is the right place to ask, so has/where was it confirmed that the summer wave is going to be exclusive to toysrus? Last I checked my local lego store had them on the shelves, but it has been a couple weeks since I was there.
  14. I usually just picture them in set form, but as far as the movies go, I actually think that's one thing the legend reborn did right. The constantly spinning pins were a bit much, but I like how the mouths and eyes were done, and their more set accurate appearance. I feel journey to one did pretty well in this respect too.
  15. I read it this morning via amazon kindle, I really enjoyed it. I'm happy to see some interesting background for the skulls, and character development for kulta, who had been brushed aside rather quickly in the animations. I won't go into to spoilers, so overall, I'm pretty satisfied. I'd recommend picking it up and giving it a shot.
  16. The lego store in Freehold, NJ has the whole winter 2016 wave (minus umarak if I'm not mistaken) on sale for anyone in that area that may want to pick some up. Grabbed kopaka for 20$ and Uxar and terak at 8$.
  17. I usually end up placing the "extras" (skull spiders/shadow traps/golden masks) in a big ziplock bag rather than display them, but when I do, I'll put the little enemy's with their respective leader (spiders with LoSS, traps with umarak).
  18. Lava beast, as that's the only one that really gives me the "I want this set" feel. Ekimu, storm, and maybe umarak could come later down the line, although I'm not sure.
  19. Maxilos & spinax is favorite of mine, and while they have their faults, the piraka hold a special nostalgic place with me. A couple other picks would be Skopio, vezon & fenrakk, and Umarak the hunter. pretty much any of the 15 toa are pretty cool too. Oh and umbra, a bonkle with roller skates and 3 things that light up plus a fancy color scheme? How is that not cool?
  20. I'd be pretty disappointed if lego did another clone wave, I really like the varied builds of 07-09 and the new ones with g2. I didn't mind as much as much when I was younger, I still hold some nostalgia for the piraka to this day. But I think it's best left in the past. Having varied builds allows more personality to each set, much more than just different masks, weapons, and colors on an otherwise cloned body. The mahri for example, hahli has fins and is taller, more agile. while hewkii is much shorter and more heavily armored, like a brute. G2 takes this much further with the masters, and the uniters to a slightly lesser degree. like the contrast between onua and lewa, or kopaka to pohatu. Each has a very distinct silhouette. And I think they're better off for it.
  21. As far as g1 goes, the mahri probably would be my favorites. I like the non cloned builds, and the whole underwater aesthetic and storyline was pretty cool to me. I actually really liked mahri hewkii, I don't care what others say, he's awesome. The main gripe I have with them is how heavy the blasters are, and the breaking joints on some sets. Although as far as bionicle as a whole, the 2015 masters might take the spot as the best team for me. There's just so much to love with them imo.
  22. So what has lego done with g2 right? •bringing back bionicle. •bringing the original toa back, and having designs faithful to the originals, unlike 2008. •gear functions. Thanks to a healthy dose of technic, Every set has a function of some kind. Geared shoulders for the toa, and waist gears in 2016. Miniguns for the protectors and a few others, and even some unique functions for some of the skull villains and upcoming beasts. And the creatures too! Flapping wings, swinging blades, hugging action, and more. •diverse builds. Tahu doesn't look like pohatu, who doesn't look like gali, who doesn't look like onua, who doesn't look like lewa, who doesn't look like kopaka. And that's true for about Any order you put them in. I've heard some say that the uniters are "clone builds" but I just don't see it. They definitely are a little more similar than the masters, but each one still has a distinct enough silhouette. And this doesn't only apply to the toa, every set is different. The skull gang, protectors, beasts, and the creatures in particular are very unique. •dual function weapons. This one only counts for the 2015 toa, but I feel like it's definitely worth a mention. Onua's hammer becoming claws, tahu's swords making a lava board, kopaka's shield making skis, and so on. They're just creative and fun to play with. Keep in mind these are all my opinions of course, anyone can disagree.
  23. Hi! I'm just a bionicle dork here to talk. Been into the line since 2006, when I picked up vezok. Fun fact, the last g1 set it bought (off store shelves anyway) was piraka stars. Good way to end things for me. Of course I've picked up a few on the secondary market since. And now g2 rolls around, and I'm back into the line full force. I Picked up all the 2015 sets, and a few 2016 as of yet. And I'm liking how things are going so far. But hey, I'm just glad bionicle made a comeback.
  24. Went with tahu, but pohatu is a very close second. I actually really dig that set, bashing things with that rock is just too much fun.
