  1. I messed around with it, but didn't comprehend that the chestplate was exclusive, nor that a creation could be ordered. Wish I had! I only know of a few of these Recon sets showing up secondhand. Your hero looks pretty cool, is that sand green he has there??
  2. A digital building tool, developed by Bricklink, called Studio, has changed the way a lot of people build. Now many people build entirely digitally and make Mocs with all sorts of colours not available irl and model custom masks and parts. Many people also simply use it as a way of planning a creation before buying physical parts. I think it wouldn't a bold claim to say between that and the Flickr Mocs, Discord servers etc. that the Moc making community is well and thriving! Sadly the YouTube stopmotion side of things is dead. There's plenty of review channels and commentary, which is thriving; but not many brickfilmers/biotubers making good old stopmotions nowadays.
  3. As the creator of said project I cannot tell you how annoying it is, getting a message from him every day, filled with the same feverous energy as always. I think he is setting himself up to be disappointed if he thinks the project will bring "The Third Coming" of Bionicle. That being said it is nice that he counts down the amount of supports needed I think you mean scaley (Reptilian)
  4. I wish I'd checked in sooner to see this! Maybe I'll whip something up! Thank you for hosting events like this Question: Can entries be digital? I may want to do a digital one and could prove it's existing colours by sharing the file?
  5. Dang I had been following Darkflame but totally missed the news of servers being a thing now. Bit busy as of now, but I'll totally want to join sometime!
  6. RADICAL! USING THE FINEST ARTIFCIAL FLAVOURS AND COLOURS, MIXED WITH SECRET ENERGISING SECRETIONS FROM MT XIA, VOODOO DRINKS PRESENTS: XIA DEW!! Thank you!
  7. Popping back in, I realised I had a drawing I have not posted here. It's a gaming setup based around Bionicle and has over 50 references. The Sentrakh chair was the joke that started the whole thing
  8. Sorry for not replying sooner! Thank you for the advice, I already do some of these things in a limited scope, I can already draw hands well due to the references at my fingertips! XD But I suppose I should up my game in observing and sketching daily. As to Bionicle figures, I think I am on the same page as you, I like more humanoid inspired ones so I suppose drawing a humanoid then morphing pieces over the torso is best. Hopefully I can share results of practice sometime in the future!
  9. Nice merch indeed, the darker background on Vakama's bag is interesting.
  10. Obviously unpopular opinion here, but I believe contests can be a "springboard" for inspiration. How many times have we seen people revamp or build their vastly different takes on Tahu or any other existing character? If a character is canonised, you can just ignore it or simply label yours as one from another timeline or universe. The multiverse is canon in Bionicle, therefore everyone's Moc's are canon, isn't that quite something? So in essence, the contests are only deciding the appearance of the Prime Universe characters And if you happen to like the winners model, then it can be inspiration for a MOV. That's how I think of it. Saying the contests make your Mocs less valid is only true if you let it be. I think there's a lot of inspirational stuff out of it. Future contests will be better, the Hagah was always going to be the worst due to the insane amount of specifics.
  11. Just discovered this topic, very nice artwork, I love the middle ground of artistic license used on the characters and pieces shown. Do you have any tips on drawing Bionicle characters or characters in general?
  12. I know, I was making light of those who use it as a buzzword for what they see as overly restrictive. I should have clarified in my post it was a joke.
  13. I'm not an adult yet so I'm not sure if 'childhood' has ended really. I'd say Galaxy Squad (2013) was a last range I remember, it was okay, not a very inspired range same with the Castle range around that time. Chima was also around at that time. Ranges I enjoyed though would be Atlantis, Mars Mission, Exo Force, Vikings, Dino Attack, all that juicy mid 2000s stuff.
  14. Literally 1984!!!! Derailing the topic or not, I think just leaving people be is best, it cannot hurt to try, there's many dreamers out there and the vast majority will at some point have their wings abruptly clipped but that doesn't stop many taking the sky everyday. I do think the definition of "back" could be looked into, what does back entail, if we are talking "back on shelves" then yes it has gone. But if we are meaning Bionicle as a whole then no it hasn't gone as has been often stated, as long as fans talk about it and keep making content it won't be dead. I do think a one off tribute would be neat though, that's why I made an Ideas Project that I shamelessly plug at every opportunity
  15. A backpack next to a 40cm robot, I still don't think it would be that big, I always imagined it like a backpack for the GSR, so Kraata to Slizer container sized for a 40cm robot. Apologies for reading it as sarcastic, sometimes I read too much into posts when there's normally a pattern. Totally understandable!
  16. I mean, said story really isn't. A guy hooked up with a gal who valued money better than any existing relationship, said guy was too blind to see that he was being manipulated (He hadn't even learned from a previous failed relationship), as he realizes he is doomed he gets one back so to speak. A tragic love story is more one where a perfect couple falls against forces that forbid their love etc. I think a better comparison would be to say that the 'manipulative woman' trope exists in many cultures (e.g. Greek mythology) and has certainly gained infamy in modern times with Roodaka being obviously inspired from that. The movie's strange inclusion of Sidorak simping (and Roodaka's manipulation of that) shows that he is the main target of manipulation, a valuable asset, the horde is on the line here. Vakama is a mere play thing or pet so to speak, Roodaka may have won him over with words but less was at stake and romance was certainly no factor, only play of emotions such as desire for power. So in a way said Biblical story does fit in some ways but less so with Vakama.
  17. aw shucks now I'm blushing I know you are being sarcastic but I will tell you anyway that if added it would likely be the size of a Kraata container. The Robot is hardly big, only large enough to highlight the many details lost in a smaller model. I think there is a reason many don't want to support it and that is that it is a made up scene, fanon models are awesome but hardly the subject for a sole tribute to Bionicle. Same with things like that Skorpio, nice Moc but it shouldn't have been uploaded, it's hardly a subject meriting a set. Thank you anyway for compiling a list, it is certainly interesting seeing the long list and the variety of approaches. Edit: also is it true you have made similar lists before then?
  18. I'll firstly say I am sorry you have to deal with overly rude comments that belittle your point of view, it is never nice to have people make fun of ones point of view. But I will say that it seems clear you are repeating what to many are unreasonable demands and it is very much falling on deaf ears seeing as only a handful of people use this site, advertising a project you like is fine, I for one wish people would do that with my Ideas project, but I think it's the combined history of your past posts that makes people negative to a simple promotion. I get that you feel passionate about things and you don't want to see a friends project go to waste, but please see that the community is fine without Lego's presence. By saying we need it back, by saying people are no longer being fans, it's undermining the value of the countless fan projects and fan works. In the last year even there has been so much creativity around Studio and making Mocs in it, we have games and animations being worked on and all sorts of Collab's, these things are what will bring this tiny fandom through dark times. People saying they do not need TLG's support doesn't equate giving up, it means moving on, whether that be life without Bionicle or with their own Bionicle stories and creative works. Millions of Bionicle sets may have been sold but the fact of the matter is only a few thousand people ever cared about it any deeper than "cool buildable action figure," as others have said, there is not hundreds of thousands of fans, the critical mass needed to do anything really. My GSR Idea is slowly ticking along, not fast enough the qualify for the reviews in 2021 but maybe 2022 will be the year of reckoning. I guarantee Bionicle won't be back, I only made the project to capture something that never had a set and would be totally rad on a shelf. The odds of a set passing review are astronomical, just getting into a project into a review is a win itself. So it was always good to not have ones expectations too high. Anyways hopefully you see some of my points? I'm sure we'd all have fun engaging in fan projects and weaving new stories around the campfire rather than fixating on Bionicle coming back by the hand of TLG. Support my GSR Project on Lego Ideas...shameless plug I know
  19. Me too! When me and my brother searched up Bionicle (Because we had seen the teaser for G2 and were confused) the Bohrok caught our eye first and we shortly after brought 4 of them complete with canisters. Goofy, menacing, fun display and fun play, they just ticked all the boxes. Sadly after that we've been less lucky with acquiring more of the swarm especially as the Krana seem to be missing often. me when I buy a few vintage railway pieces from Serbia for my 12v Train setup... Thank you for that tip though, it makes sense now. I assume besides making it 100% you're also going to try get a sterling or vacuum type Krana?
  20. As someone who has also only got into Bionicle circa 2015 and was aware of it since 2008 (Just like you) I say that's an impressive collection. Any tips on collecting things like Krana?
  21. I have no idea, for context there's my Bionicle collection which stands at nearly half the lines sets but then a lot of double ups. That takes up half a small bedroom. In the same bedroom I have a nearly complete collections of Power Miners, Mars Mission and Dino Attack along with miscellaneous city and other themed sets from the mid 2000s and early 2010s. But the core of my collection is my vintage Lego from 1976 to 1999. I have an entire shed for that and have half the Classic Space sets and nearly all of ranges like UFO or Blacktron 2. My dream is to make town and train layout and so there's lot of houses, 12v trains and niche interest items such as boats for an eventual harbour.
  22. Yeah I hate to be another person disagreeing, but this reasoning just doesn't work. Marvel is all in the same world for all I care, there is always superheroes and in different films we see different heroes do different things, they're mostly in the same time period, they're not from different franchises with different lore, sure some might be set in space or maybe a bit in the past but it all fits together in a deliberately designed multi-verse. So Marvel and DC, two intentionally designed superhero story collections can be ruled out as examples. The Lego Movie is different as most are appearances are passing cameos and the ones that have substantial screen time are promoting currently existing product lines, or things that have been invented for the movie. For a full fledged crossover to work, both Ninjago *and* Bionicle would have to be currently available product lines. But I'm not saying no to passing references, we've gotten so many bread crumbs in the form of stickers or subtle builds, I think those are pretty good for now. Yah know what I mean?
  23. I don't have anything particularly special in my collection if I was to go by monetary value. My brother and I share a collection and he has no qualms with opening sealed sets so our sealed Metru Nui Matoran and Sealed Turaga etc. have all been opened. Those boxes are still special though. I think as someone who got into Bionicle in 2015 and was only interested in G1, I feel very attached to the few 2001 recolours my mum brought that year, at the time me and my brother were eh about them as the gold and silver Mata Masks don't match other colours but later I realized what I great deal she got on them. Also one time I found a single trans red Kaukau in a Bulk Lot, that mask is special to me. We also have Manas with the box, they were still working up until this year when a servo gave out on both of them, had a lot of fun while they still did work though. Our Kardas Dragon is a non-combiner edition and comes with the Kardas Instructions so that is also special. I'll be getting a infected Hau soon thanks to Teridax941 so baring the Kaukau the Hau will be my most prized item. Reading all this stuff about comic art and misprints etc. does make me wish I had deep enough pockets and the know how of where to get cool masks and collectables.
