  1. This looks like a very very slick updated MNOG. Mostly I’m wondering when we can get to play the game - is there a release date? It seems from the trailer that the game is finished, so I’m confused as to why there’s no public download link.
  2. This reminds me of this creepy thing: It was fan made, though, so it technically doesn’t count...
  3. I like STOMP, but this combination is too much...I cannot believe that they got actual dancers for this... The "Insane Bionicle Brain" song was by far the most bizarre thing I saw.
  4. It really depends on if you judge the Elements based on science or based on aesthetic design. The 2001 Bionicle story was more of a fantasy story (or at least, it appeared to be a fantasy story, with tribal mysticism, etc). The later years, especially 2007 onward, were much more sci-fi oriented. So it depends on whether you use fantasy or sci-fi "rules" to classify the elements. Another thing that I just thought up was that the Great Beings designed these elements and people, and their reasons may not have been scientific. They were trying to keep their giant robot running, not follow a scientific paradigm. So if they need a group of Matoran with keen hearing to run Mata Nui's ears, they are not going to ask if Matoran of Air can do that. They are going to make Matoran of Sonics. And since they didn't tell the Matoran that they were operating a giant robot, the Matoran called the categories that they fell into "Elements". The elements of Bionicle don't make sense if you're using science, but if you consider that they are operating a giant robot, it does make sense. For the most part, until you consider that no Psionics Matoran live in Metru Nui, which is supposed to be Mata Nui's brain. But I guess the GBs had to run their illusion somehow...
  5. Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, Thomas Edition. actually this goes on a whole other level because trains were a thing in the actual Metamorphosis. I’m just picturing Gregor the bug escaping his apartment to finally catch his train and being nope.
  6. Wouldn’t it be possible to simply retain an old version of a browser that could run Flash and still play the old games? I have an old XP laptop that has been really helpful, especially for the Map of Mata Nui thing the community saved.
  7. The sky city music isn't in there, but the music is good anyway. Thanks for posting.
  8. I recently ordered Declaration by Red. I got the MP3 download, still waiting for the CD to show up at my house.
  9. 3/5, seen a few posts of yours.
  10. The Haunting (Somewhere in Time) by Kamelot
  11. The opening scene would be two Onuas - Metru Onua and Hordika Onua sizing up a ginormous stuffed cat. Yep, Bionicle versus stuffed animals, in which my sister and I hashed it out. Even Makuta Teridax and his Rahkshi were called in to head off the invasion of cats, dogs, bears and a particularly obnoxious giraffe with an annoying bell. She failed to listen to the fact that the Bionicle sets had powers that would have shredded them in minutes. In the playroom, size ruled, and Dog was bigger than Terry. I particularly liked the Giant Robot Reveal. Justice, sis.
  12. I wonder if the sky city music is in there. I'm going to listen. Thanks for posting this!
  13. It depends on where you live, actually. If you live in the country/wilderness as opposed to say, Metru Nui, you might have less odds of running into rackets. Humanity uses a LOT of loud equipment and is usually very loud in general, so if the De-Matoran were to live on earth they would be absolutely miserable. But they live in the Great Spirit Robot in a usually quiet location, so less need to worry about that.
  14. To address the main idea that this topic was actually talking about, I can see why Greg & Co. did it that way - when you think of sonic powers, super sensitive hearing comes to mind intuitively. You don’t imagine being immune to sonic attack by being hard of hearing or deaf. Also, they are just Matoran: putting up sonic barriers is a Toa level power. It does seem odd in comparison to other elements, but think about it this way: Ta-Koro was in an active volcano. You fall into lava, Ta-Matoran or not, you’re dead. The fact that these Matoran can resist heat makes them live in a dangerous place. It’s dangerous to be attacked while lava surfing. The element leads to a vulnerability, the same way Sonics leads to hearing shock. Or you know, the Ko-Matoran live on a Mountain and could freeze (or slip to their demise). Element occupational hazard: all elements have negatives. Some more obvious than others.
  15. Hmm. If I were to do a redo, probably just limit it to the six original elements, plus light/shadow. The big change I would want is to have all of the elements get 50/50 gender representation. it would be tempting to have a Toa of Plasma or Electricity/Lightning just to be totally cool, but I would have those Matoran/Toa be like super rare. Psionics and Gravity are already covered by the Mask powers, so no need for those.
  16. I always thought the browser versions of the games were better, but I didn’t really have any mobile devices at all back then, so, wrong audience. There was also that Lego app that you could post your creations to that had random names - Lego At Home or something. It was supposed to replace Rebrick, I think, and be more kid-friendly/COPPA compliant. I remember getting an Android Emulator to play Mask of Creation and Mask of Control, and thought both of those games were pretty cool.
  17. This use of power is possible, but it would likely drain the Psionic user's elemental energy. A Psionics Toa would have to weigh the loss of EE over the duration of use of the power in question. While a mental block would likely require no EE drain and would allow a Psionics user to use a Krana as an emergency mask, actually controlling the Krana to use its power would require the use of Psionics energy by the Toa. Note that this is also the case if a Psionics user found a loose Krana or Bohrok and decided to mind-control it to use its power. It would be a far more efficient use of energy for the Toa to simply mind-control the Krana or Bohrok in question - placing the Krana on its face would not be required. In the case of assault, in which the mask is forcibly removed and the Krana is placed, a mental block should allow the user to resist the Krana's control and retrieve one's mask. This would be true of all mental block users, however, not just Psionics Toa. Does that make sense?
  18. My least favorite set is the Gahlok my brother built wrong so it only has one arm and is thus permanently disabled. I blame my brother, not the Gahlok. I am, however, wondering to this day whether or not we could have fixed it to have two arms without damaging the parts.
  19. 3/5 : I really like the tune here and the chain metaphor, but I had a bit of a rough time hearing the lyrics on the first pass (hard accent). I did look up the lyrics - I liked the idea of public pressure being a chain, but the statement “I find and create myself” to be somewhat contradictory and flies over a huge philosophical debate: do we find ourselves or create them?
  20. I thought that there were a bunch of characters trapped in Makuta’s prison with Makuta, is what I was referring to. That’s the tragedy from my perspective, that the Toa couldn’t rescue them.
  21. eh, 2/5. cheesy Jesus song is not really my jam. The background music is like from every worship tune ever. I'm not sure what to make of the lyrics either, especially since this Christian song also exists...
  22. The serious problem is that Bionicle 2016 ended on an admittedly tragic note. That is not Bionicle. Bionicle ends with the good guys winning. Granted, individual years ended in tragedy (2004 and 2008, for example) but the good guys won in 2010. Bionicle 2015 was slow to get going, storywise. It didn't have enough room to build up momentum before it collapsed. I liked the chapter books - the best I think was called Revenge of the Skull Spiders, I think, but could be wrong.
