  1. A dumb seven year old with the audacity to say things that aren't that funny? (Not sure if he was making a reference to that song, but who am I to blow against the wind?)
  2. What makes new fans interested in Bionicle? (I'm curious about the people who discover Bionicle now and become fans.)
  3. That's possible too. If they gave too many hints that Matoran and Toa were the same "species," fans would guess that the 7th Toa was going to be a Matoran who levels up, so to speak.
  4. But you can call a fungus by different species names for different forms, although that's because fungi were really difficult to study and at first mycologists didn't know that a species had another form, rather than intentionally giving them different names. I think the confusion with the Matoran/Toa/Turaga is that there's not an overarching word for all of them. Maybe they didn't have the "evolution" concept when they started Bionicle.
  5. For me, getting the monthly comic book was what had the most impact on me getting into Bionicle. It made me feel like I was engaging with an emerging story. Have any of you here gotten into Bionicle after it ended (or know someone who has)? I suggest you get them into it young...
  6. You don't think two video games, a trading card game, and a board game constitute a significant investment? For hype, Lego may not have exactly gone overboard with the advertising in its first year, but I remember seeing some ads from 2001 and they talk about a legend, which suggests (to me) that they had further plans for the franchise. But Greg would be a pretty significant source so maybe there's more nuance than I can perceive.
  7. I had heard that the plan was for a storyline that would go on year after year too. Unfortunately I don't remember my source for that. Do you have yours? Personally, I feel that Bionicle was hyped too much and Lego put too much investment into the media to abandon it after one year. But then on the other hand, it would make sense to have a quick "exit strategy" if it didn't do well financially.
  8. Maybe, but I think throughout much of the franchise, the Matoran probably thought the current generation of Toa were their only hope. If you were a Matoran on Mata Nui, I bet you would feel all was lost if the Toa Mata failed against the Rahi or the Bohrok.
  9. There's a good chance. Bionicle still has a fandom, in a way that the other themes in the running don't.
  10. I feel like the kraata investigation wouldn't work very well in a feature film, especially one with Mask of Light's tone. Too much lore that not all viewers would be familiar with (while I have a basic understanding of 2001, I myself only got into Bionicle in 2002). Plus, it would make it too complex to feature kraata as an enemy, distinct from rahkshi, if that makes sense.
  11. Regarding 3, I think if Lego is going to make any Bionicle remake at all, it'll be for their 90th anniversary.
  12. Do you have any information on them, like names or manufacturers? Asking out of curiosity mainly.
  13. With Wikipedia you really gotta look at the sources to determine how seriously you should take the information. And for some reason, there are vandals who like to randomly change numbers in articles about children's television programs, but it looks like all the information here is sourced.
  14. I think for subcategory they mean a subcategory within the theme you answered. So for Bionicle, a subcategory would probably be something like Toa Nuva or Bohrok, I think.
  15. This kind of reminds me of how in ants, each caste is either entirely male or entirely female. Maybe the creators of Bionicle were going for that kind of structure rather than one that us humans are more familiar with, where males and females live in all regions in a roughly 50:50 ratio (if that makes sense to anyone else).
