  1. I'm curious if there's any definitive canon answer to this. Obviously, I've seen in the books and comics that the Toa Mata each collected six Great Kanohi on Mata Nui, but then MNOG shows them also using the Noble Kanohi. As far as I know, MNOG is only "semi-canon," and I don't believe any other stories show them using the Noble Kanohi, so is that part non-canon? Additionally, I know each Nuva mask were released in the six main Toa colors, and they reference getting them after losing their elemental powers. But it seems like the Bohrok-Kal cut them off and again, they only ever use their specific mask power, sharing them amongst each other. Then again, there's around 30-35 powers we never see Makuta use that we know he has, so there's precedence in Bionicle for forgetting to use all the powers in your arsenal.
  2. Honestly, I think Bionicle lends itself well to the concept of a "soft reboot." Jump forward a few hundred thousand years in the future, and you can have a completely different world, yet some familiarity and the occasional returning OG character. Of course, you gotta continue having the world be split up into different sectors: City, where technology has advanced beyond the previous generation. Maybe the vehicles from the Glatorian era have progressed and become a new sentient species, like robo-riders. Jungle, where the dinosaurs and primitive tribes from Bota Magna reside. Desert. Shouldn't exist anymore on the paradise Mata Nui made, but maybe the Element Lords moved their fight there and left it a wasteland? And Water. Allows for a different aesthetic and greater variety between sets, like the Toa Mari were to the rest of Bionicle As for presentation of the story, I think I'd take more of an approach like the former Star Wars expanded universe. You have a core TV and/or movie series that tells the main story of the sets, but also spin-offs and standalones based on the minor characters that can be told in books, comics, video games, etc. Similar to Generation 1, but the main story is easier to follow, and the extra material is just there for those interested. You won't get lost if you missed something. I'd also probably make the main threat an organization rather than 1 antagonist. Although, you could still have a leader of the organization as the "big bad" that the story is building up to. That way, you have a main villain every year, in control of a group of villains, all of which can be beaten by the end of the year. And when you move on to the next year, you have another member of the organization, so it's not a total move back to square one. Sorry for the long reply, but I always love toying with story concepts!
  3. A few different reasons. Quality control: I tried to be discerning when I was shopping used, but I still ended up with plenty of pieces that were scratched or fit loosely, and I'm something of a perfectionist. I want the containers too, since a lot of them have story relevance. And also just to sort of recapture that feel of getting a new LEGO set. I wasn't allowed to have Bionicle when I was a kid, so this is sort of feeding my inner child, ya know?
  4. I basically just started collecting. I originally started around 2019, but I bought mostly used sets. I decided I wanted to get everything new and sealed (including combiners and canon MOCs), so I sold off my used lot and started collecting new about a month ago. So far I've only got Toa Mata Pohatu and Onua, as well as the Kane-Ra/Muaka and the Nui-Rama sets.
  5. Do the Matoran Kaita or the Turaga Nui show up in the story at all? I'm looking to collect all the canon characters and combiner models, so I wanted to make sure these are story-relevant. I (think) I read through all the books and comics, and I don't think I've seen anything on them beyond a reference that they can theoretically do it. I know the Matoran Nui shows up in a comic, and with the Matoran of Metru Nui during the fight against the Morbuzakh.
  6. I've definitely seen a lot of your stuff when I started planning my collection. I expect we'll see a lot of each other once I get my funds together! Out of curiosity, how did you label the spinners when you were selling them? I can't even find them on Bricklink
  7. Weirdly enough, not the ones like this: https://brickipedia.fandom.com/wiki/Vezok_Spinner I'm very curious why they don't show up at all, I don't know if they were much rarer or what.
  8. Congrats! How much did you end paying for that, if you don't mind my asking?
  9. Funnily enough, I did end up asking the seller about it! No dice. I only ever had some of the McDonald's Matoran toys when I was a kid. Now I'm looking to collect all the figures/canon fan creations/some promotional figures. Everybody needs a hobby, eh?
  10. Hello all! I was wondering if anyone here has Bionicle Nesquick cereal spinners from 2006: Vezok, Hakann, Reidak, Matoro, Hewkii, and Kongu. Or if anyone's got any tips for looking for them--I don't see a page for them on Bricklink, and no sign of them on eBay. Also, and I'm sure this is like just asking if anyone has a spare Holy Grail, but anyone have the Morbuzakh sponge released in Germany in 2004? Happy hunting, fellow collectors!
  11. The hope is all of them. Right now I'm just making a comprehensive list of all the models, both officially released and fan creations that have been canonized. Luckily I found the color guide on BrickLink, so that's made it much easier!
  12. Hello everyone! It's my first post here, so I'm sorry if this has been covered or I'm in the wrong section; I'm awful at searching through forums. I'm working on getting parts for the fan canon models from Bionicle, and I was wondering if there is any way to pull the parts into a coherent list? For now, I'm just entering the number for the part in the instructions on Bricklink, but between all the light grays, light bluish grays, and pearl light grays, it's hard to differentiate exactly what color some parts should be in.
