Vacation! I will not be able to get on BZPower from the 30th to the 7th of July. So that means I won't be here for the RPG Contest! Sad. And I'll also miss out on a crucial week of Day Run. So not only will I not be able to promote Shifting Sands, I won't even be able to cause trouble for Parugi. And I just know he is dissapointed about it.

So I leave it all upon everyone who reads this blog post to go out and vote/promote Shifting Sands for RPG Contest 24! Obviously Parugi is in control of my characters while I'm gone, although I have a lot. And he already has enough to worry about with finishing Day Run on time.

Also, if Shifting Sands does win, I probably won't be able to get it up on Sunday. It will be up Monday, if nothing stops me. Wait, did I say if? I meant when it wins. With Waves of the South, obviously. Because both are awesome.
  2. Kal the Guardian
Ok, so if Shifting Sands makes it in the contest, some things will need to be clarified. You may ask questions here, and I will answer them if they don't pertain to the story hidden away in this world.

Otherwise, I have some questions to ask you. First off, the Toa presenting the RPG, should I tell the story through him? Should he even be there? Should I have him dying to give the first person in the RPG what was given him? If he is part of the story, what element should he have? What mask? Or do you want me to "GM" sequences, and just have a character that is like everyone else's?

Possible questions from you might be do they teleport in with weapons? Yes, everyone has weapons. Can the gray sand be controlled? No. Is it nano-bots? No. What's to stop someone from camping the middle Shifter? There isn't.

So, yeah. It would be interesting if I told "GM" sequences through first person, but how would he know this stuff? Hmm... Oh, also, possible names?
  3. Kal the Guardian
Well, maybe. If it's voted in. Stupid equal rights.

RPG Contest 24! Wow, here once again. A lot of famous dudes haven't entered RPGs yet, which improves my chances of winning and is ok by me. Although it is a little sad that they haven't yet (but not too sad). Anyway, my entry, Shifting Sands, is up and ready to be voted for as soon as the polls are live!

It is literally a sandbox. One does not simply not vote for it.

In other news, OPENING POST FOR IT!

The room sat, cloaked in shadows that restlessly swirled around a long wooden table. Three beings were all seated at the large table, silent as they read through the information on the three tablets each one was holding. The glow provided by these tablets barely was able to light up the faces of those holding them, let alone anywhere else in the room.

The one at the head of the table drummed his fingers in thought as he finished before the others. The tallest figure in the room finished reading, turned off the tablet, and sat back, spending time in thought as well. Cold eyes glinted in the darkness as the final tablet was put away. All three sat like that for awhile, contemplating the information they had just reviewed.

The one at the head of the table finally cleared his throat and spoke, “Well, the first batch went as planned. The second batch was just a deviance on a theme. Let’s see what results this third batch will grant us. Beings will be more widely ‘recruited’ this time. Would any of you like to join in on this one?”

“Negative,” the tall one said, with sort of a hissing accent.

“No,” the last one said, voice as cold as her eyes.

“Alright then,” the first one said, changing gears, “Now about this new idea of computer worlds, mind worlds, and custom made alternate dimensions. How soon can we start some testing on these theories?”

The tall one leaned forward, “We are still a decade out from perfecting the idea, but several projects are beginning to form already.”

“Yes,” the third one said, “Their form will be much like Shifting Sands. A week memory wipe before they go in, and a state of stasis if they survive and leave the world. The two most promising projects at this point are Showdown and Ocean Cruise.”

The first one smiled, grinning devilishly, “In that case, I look forward to when they become operational. Now, about the rahi species we are developing…”

The conversation continued, going on for quite some time. Evil deeds discussed in the dark, hidden behind a company of clever lies. Endless Boundaries was something else. Meanwhile, the world marched forward, oblivious.

Well, the polls are almost at a close for RPG Contest. Beat and Rhythm is doing good, as is Day Run. But Dreamland: Awakening is five votes away from making it to the next round. It needs those five votes! Don't do it for me. Do it for the sleeping Matoran. They need to be saved!

In other news, I finally finished Prince of Persia, and I got the achievement "Speed Run". I had no clue I finished it all in under twelve hours. Am I good or what? ...Don't answer that.

Now, I don't know if there are multiple endings, but I chose to save Elika, and sent Arhiman free once again. After I had just spent the whole game to trap him. Ah, love. I hate it.

Supposedly there's an epilogue? I'll have to check into it and see what's going on there.

I also got Radiant Historia, it arrived! It's really cool. And awesome. I just wish it had maps of the sections I explore instead of just an overall map. I say this because currently I am at a loss of where to go.

Also my friend keeps bugging me to get Borderlands, but I don't know... Any thoughts?

For the past five-ish weeks I have been growing a beard for the first time in my live. Wow. My hair grows fast.

And now I can say from experience, "Beards are ok." So, continuing my exploration of facial hair and my corresponding handsomeness, I just shaved it today into a Goatee. Conclusion to the current investigation: I am still amazingly good looking.

    Next mission: Mustache.

So, now on to Video Games. I have so much to do! D=

I have Bioshock 1 and 2 to play, which freak me out and I don't know why I let my friend brainwash me into buying them. Needless to say, I have not done much in either one. I have Deadspace to play. Yeah, and I thought Bioshock was bad. Cheese, that stuff is way too scary. Aforementioned friend bought me it for Christmas. Yes, I hate him sometimes. Also needless to say, I have done even less in that game. First black zombie, boom, I stopped playing. Having Turtle Beaches (a gift from said friend for my B-day, so he's not all bad) doesn't help either, considering I can hear smurfing EVERYTHING. Why do those people speak from the walls, why? *breaks down*

I'm trying to beat MW3 on Veteran, which is really just when I feel like it. Except for buying everything in Survival (and the new add on achievements), I just need to get those Veteran achievements and then I'll have 1000 gamerscore for all MW games. Ghost lives.

I also started to play through Black Ops on Veteran just to mix things up a little. Let me just say that I like MW3 way better than how Black Ops plays and feels. Still, it's weird to be playing it and not fighting zombies. Ugh, I still need the Prevent All Excavators achievement. For some reason, they no longer come anymore! Plus I have other small zombie achievements to nab.

Let's see, I also am finally just past halfway through Prince of Persia. It's a fun game. A little repetative, but I can always do other things to break it up. And I finally got Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, so I have a next game to look forward to.

Then there's Darkvoid. Wow. I've had that for almost over a year now and I still haven't put it in yet. Instead, I tell myself I have too many other games to do and to leave that one for later. So what do I do? Instead of playing said games, I play Banjo-Kazooie, the original one. Let me tell you, old school games are hard. But fun, and the humor is quirky and fun as well.

Plus, I'm considering getting Alan Wake and maybe Just Cause 2 for it's epic open world. I've heard that Alan Wake ends ubruptly, though. Still, it sounds interesting and not exactly scary.

And all this is for the xbox.

I have two Jedi Academy games for the PC to play. I have KOTOR to play too. And then there's Skyrim. Wow I love that game. I also have Halo 2 for the PC, which I never did play through on the PC. And Minecraft just doesn't end. Well, technically it does now.

For the Wii, I really need to play more Twilight Princess, but I never make the time. Actually, that's the only game for the Wii I want to play.

For the DS (well, I bought a 3DS, but I have no 3D games. ) I just finished Monster Tale, which was a cute game and I loved Chomp. I have a bunch of unfinished DS games, but right now I'll probably focus on Pokemon Platinum, which I am going through. I'm surfing to the Elite Four. And then there's Heartgold, my first Pokemon game. I restarted that for old times sake. (Old times sake being two Christmases ago) I'm so excited to hear of Black 2 and White 2. Hopefully a continuation of story and not just a seperated Gray to make money, even though the third game's existance is to make money.

What I really can't wait for, though, is Radiant Historia. I ordered it on Amazon, but they have been out of stock for months now. For the longest time it said it wasn't even available, so I jumped at the chance when they said it was just out of stock.

And that's not all! I still manage to spend time playing Reach, writing, and doing BZPower, all while admiring my looks from a conveniently placed nearby mirror.

Ok, so, once again another RPG contest is upon us. The entry period is already half over, and a bunch of awesome RPGs have already been posted. Dreamland has once again been entered as Dreamland: Awakening (My first sequel! (Plus my first RPG ever)) Something tells me that it has no chance this contest. Then again, last contest it didn't stand a change either and it ended up beating Captian's RPG by just a few votes.

I must say that things went much slower in Dreamland than I had anticipated. Although that can be attributed to me and not being on as much as I had originally planned. But I must say that recently activity has picked up, so hopefully we'll be able to go out with a bang. If we move fast enough we'll be able to either have a very foreboding ending or a triumphant yet overwelming ending.

If we don't move at all, then the RPG will just end on a dull note.

Now, if it gets enough votes to continue on to a second season, then I hope to actually finish it up. Restrictions on moving around the map will be little to none, and we get to find/fight a bunch more awesome characters. Plus we still haven't actually found a Matoran of Sleep.

So, if possible, vote for Dreamland: Awakening when the time comes! Plus vote for the Day Run, which also needs to finish up. And don't forget Beat and Rythm! ToD has been trying to get that voted in for almost a year now. And it seems that those who actually actively reply to the Contest Topic really want it to be voted in.

Of course, so many people vote (who don't know about the RPGs) that anyone could end up winning.

And who knows, a RPG might be posted that blows all the rest of us away. I wouldn't mind to see that.
  7. Kal the Guardian
Ok, so it appears that my entry of Dreamland has come third! I am shocked, to say the least. I never actually thought that one of my RPGs would ever win. As such, I am so not prepared to lauch it. Adding to this, I will have limited time on my laptop today, but rest assured that I will try my hardest to get it up as soon as possible.

So much to do! And so little time! Only three months to work with!

Don't click any of the links provided here unless you want to get signed out. Yep, that's right, they all take you back to the old forums. Just a heads up for anyone that randomly clicks on weird links.

In other news, the next RPG Contest will be in December, which gives us all lots of time to play in the Day Run! And also it provides time for me to work on Dreamland, which really means I'll wait until December and then frantically try to upgrade it for the contest.
  9. Kal the Guardian
Seriously, the end of RPG Contest 21 is almost here! Just a few more days left until the voting is over! So head on over here!

Don't worry, there are no voting fees. It's just that if you vote Dreamland or Day Run, you happen to get free, rather enticing cookies.

BioGaia is having some trouble with getting his RPG posted. Probably due to code issues. Ugh, in that sense, BZPower hates me. Anyway, he wanted me to post a small portion of it here. So I agreed, and here are the NPCs.

    Non-Player Characters (NPCs) Username: BioGaia

    Character Name: Khiral (KHEE-rahl)

    Gender: Male (technically neuter)

Species: Former Onu-Matoran (Matoran of Earth)

    Alignment: Formerly Miners' Collective

Description: Being a spirit, Khiral currently has no actual form. He typically appears as a nearly gaseous projection of his former appearance: a Matoran built in the style of those from Metru Nui with only black armor and light blue eyes.

Kanohi: Formerly a Powerless Kanohi Great Rau

    Weapons/Tools: None

Power: Limited Spirits powers—specifically limited telepathy—as a result of being an astral projection

Personality: Khiral was one of the most enthusiastic miners who entered the Fura Mountain Range. A few of his comments imply that he did not simply view himself as miner: He called himself and his fellow miners "pioneers." He had a marked tendency to take risks that could be very rewarding—or catastrophic. Beguiled by accounts of the Labyrinth, Khiral was eager to explore it.

This choice cost him his "first life," but his spirit was reanimated by the Labyrinth. Naturally, he chose to continue exploring the Labyrinth. What he found, though, crushed him and left him in a state near paranoia. Thus, his personality has transformed from optimistic and enthusiastic—to devastated by the truth and obsessive in his fears

Sanity: When he died, Khiral was a relatively sane Matoran. However, since his death, Khiral has learned a significant amount about the nature of the Labyrinth. As a result, he is in a state of constant, unrelenting paranoia.

Biography: Almost immediately after hearing about the opportunity presented by the Fura Mountains, Khiral travelled from his home in Metru Nui to the Façade. There, Khiral helped in various occupations: extraction of minerals, ensuring safety for his crews, and most often simple excavation of new caverns. During his first expedition into the Labyrinth, he was killed. However, his spirit was reanimated, allowing him to continue to explore the Labyrinth. He often travels to unusual places while exploring the Labyrinth; consequently, he is regularly thrust into abnormal situations and adventures.

Weaknesses: Khiral has next to no powers, as he is only a reanimated spirit. Accordingly, he knows very little of his own nature: For instance, he does not realize that he still can be killed. This lack of knowledge can be quite dangerous, as it leaves him susceptible to damage in various ways, and he is reckless at times. In addition, Khiral has almost no powers, which means that he cannot participate in battle.

    --- Username: BioGaia

    Character Name: Naruik (nahr-OO-eek)

    Gender: Female

    Species: Vortixx

    Alignment: The Miners' Collective

Description: Naruik looks almost exactly like Roodaka, though with green replacing silver on her armor. In addition, she sometimes wears a simple green cloak.

    Kanohi: None

Weapons/Tools: Naruik occasionally carries a simple, hand-held, automated drill.

    Power: None

Personality: Naruik is a relatively typical Vortixx, primarily interested with money and receiving her compensation during any employment. However, she is less prejudiced against males than many other Vortixx. This is not to say, though, that she supports equal rights for Vortixx males; she merely respects some male Matoran and Skakdi she has met.

Her wit and intellect surprise many, as she can go for hours without talking during a large discussion—and then close the matter with a few comments. While Naruik is certainly manipulative, in order to keep the Miners' Collective together, the tries to avoid excessively manipulating others. Similarly, Naruik can be quite callous when she tries—such as during her ascension of the Mountain—but largely stifles this aspect of her personality.

Sanity: Having only lived in the Façade, Naruik is basically completely sane. Because of living in the caverns, though, she sometimes exhibits brief moments of extreme claustrophobia, which she is attempting to overcome.

Biography: Naruik lived on the island of Xia as an overseer in a factory for most of her life. During her climbing of the Mountain, Naruik reached the bottom along with her partner, which gained her a minor increase in status. After hearing about the Fura Mountain Range, she rushed to the new mining endeavor, interested by the possibility of great wealth. Upon reaching the caverns, she formed the Miners' Collective in order to ensure that she was compensated for her work. When the Collective's purpose changed, Naruik supported it in order to keep the Miners' Collective functional.

Weaknesses: Naruik is highly inexperienced in battle; her only weapon is her wit. In addition, she is viewed by some as being rather aloof, which can provoke some in the Miners' Collective to disagree with her leading and messages. Thus, she is rather ineffective at her occupation.

    --- Username: BioGaia

    Character Name: Irtak (eer-TAK)

    Gender: Female

    Species: Skakdi

Alignment: The Society of the Labyrinth

Description: Irtak is a very tall, broad-shouldered Skakdi with a long, barbed organic spine. Her armor is a deep brown; her teeth are a filthy yellow.

    Kanohi: None

Weapons/Tools: Irtak carries a Seismic Drill, which is only partially effective in affecting the walls and ground of the Labyrinth.

    Power: Stone and Impact Vision

Personality: Irtak is, like most other female Skakdi, savage, short-tempered, and bellicose.

Sanity: Irtak suffers from dissociative identity disorder, which is manifest in panic attacks, memory loss, depersonalization, and irrational bouts of rage. Supposedly, this is due to her being allegedly possessed by a spirit that was reanimated by the Labyrinth.

Biography: An early subject in Spiriah's experiments, Irtak was among the first to be given new powers, which unfortunately resulted in physical deformations. Swept into the first Skakdi wars, Irtak wanted more in life, and thus chose to leave the Mata Nui-forsaken land that was Zakaz. She actually lives on the island on which the Fura Mountain Range is located, and naturally noticed the sudden influx of miners, engineers, scientists, and so on. Thus, she chose to join them, putting her brute strength and capability of strong resolve to work. Much later, during one expedition into the bowels of the Labyrinth, Irtak felt that she heard the voice of the Labyrinth ordering her, "Assert my strength with yours." In order to follow this demand of the Labyrinth—which she soon decided is greater than Mata Nui is—Irtak quickly formed the Society of the Labyrinth and has remained its vile, fanatical leader.

Weaknesses: Irtak has difficulty controlling her anger, which can cause her to act irrationally and in an unconstructive manner. She also is quite unintelligent, which means that she must primarily rely on her emotions and instincts. Because of Spiriah's experimentation, Irtak's left leg is broken in multiple places and is not properly set. In addition, her "split personality" and constant hallucinations are detrimental to her emotional stability, feeding into her other weaknesses. Finally, Irtak has a tendency to conceitedly underestimate others and highly overestimate herself, often leading to her losing battles.

So, with the introduction that I made up cuz I felt like it below, what do you think? And yes, the Tournament actually isn't corrupted! GASP! No way, you say? Yes way. Then again, tournament RPGs always seem to start with the tournament and then end up with this awesome story. Well, at least it happened in Tournament of Shadows and Night Ride. Both corrupt. Both awesome. I mean, really, what can we hope to gain from another new tourney RPG? More of the same?

No, I say! More of the awesome! Less of the bad! More of the fun! Less of the annoying time between battles! A game where you don't tire, don't stop, and the fun never ends!

But let's look back to the RPG I want to craft.

I've even come up with this awesome name that I've made up on the spot:

    GPR Tnemanrout

Yes, insane, I know. You may lavish me with your approval now.

Luminator re-ran his logistic systems. They seemed incomplete, cut off. The A.I. felt like part of him was missing. Why couldn't he remember the simplist things? Take names for example. He knew that he had filed away all the names for the members of Cruise #6. The first Cruise he had oversaw right as he had come online. And also the first tournement of its history. What's history? Luminator didn't know. Sawed off information. A half useful A.I. That was all he considered himself. Like why did the brochures all get sent to the seediest places in the universe? He didn't know, but now Cruise #7 was about to come online. And he barely had any information on where or what he was overseeing. Something was up. Definately up. Luminator vowed that he would not lose Cruise #7 like he had #6. And he knew Cruise #6 was still out there; he vowed to find them and set things straight. He also vowed to figure out what he was. Once and for all.

Sevarinous refused to scream. He would not let them see his pain, although his expression showed it quite thoroughly. His body was slowly being transformed into his element: sand. But he was also being mutated as it happened. Horrible pain wracked his body as he could no longer feel below his torso. Inch by painful inch, his molecules were being forced into something they would otherwise enjoy. Mutated sand is not the most comfortable subsance to be turned into. Sevarinous spent half an hour hooked up to their machine before the transformation was complete. The mutagen had also wreaked havoc with the young Toa's brain. Now there was only one task to fullfil. One duty that must be upheld until the universe came crashing down. The once lighthearted lad bunkered down beneath rock and water, waiting to crush those who sought what he protected.

    Remeber folks:

With that in mind. I had an awesome idea. Is there any rule anywhere that says you can't host an RPG in your Blog? Like where I make a post for the RPG, a post for the Discussion topic, and a post for the Profile topic. Then people would just keep posting in them until they reach a limit. (If there is one)

This opens up whole new possibilities. A lot of bad ones, too, though. People could definately abuse this. Anyone have any idea if this sort of thing is allowed?

Well, this is my new idea that I'll be going with for the next RPG contest. Unless people want Ocean Cruise back, that is. Anyway, here is the opening segment:

    Showdown
    An Endless Boundaries' Production
Have a rough life and want to get away to some exotic location no one has ever seen before? Want to fight until you drop with a no death guarantee? Want to explore for hidden items?
Well then, it seems Showdown is just for you! Instead of past Cruises, which only offered small adventuring options, Showdown allows so much more. Showdown is a computer program that taps into the collective imagination of a group and creates a fantasy world that, in your heads, will seem real.
This new world will then be monitored by our specialists to ensure a pleasant time is had for all. Or, if you so wish, you can be merged into a more competitive group and have a small tournament of sorts.
Any way you look at it, Showdown is right for you!

I've fallen asleep. I keep drifting deeper and deeper inside of my head. All these years, and yet I do not wake. Nor do I feel the slightest tug of reality. I just continue deeper into unconsciousness.

Lately, my dreams have been filled with the visions of friends long forgotten, and enemies forcefully forgotten. For some reason, I feel as if I am settling at the deepest reaches of a trance put upon me a lifetime ago. Finally, I feel that I can begin the long journey to recovering.

But although things now feel more like I believe life used to be, I no longer trust what I know to be my dream version of friends. They almost feel too real. And the sting of the enemy's weapons grows increasingly painful. Yet still, I do not wake.

So, all my friends with me, I dream.

That would be my slightly reworked opening for Dreamland. I just went through, making adjustments. Hopefully soon, I will start making the changes that I need to make.

Arthur looked up from his lunch. There was a commotion ongoing on the other side of the cafeteria. Not caring, he went back to the tray before him and shoveled in another helping of fries. After finishing them all off, Arthur looked around to see that everyone was still staring at the other side of the room. Now his curiosity was peaked, because he no longer heard any commotion.

Looking up, he saw that the far wall was covered in strange white etchings, almost in the shape of a curved door frame. He slowly stood to his feet in awe. There was faint whimsical music coming from the door frame. It was then that Arthur saw the two boys sprawled on the floor and another, who Arthur realized was Henry, some guy from the grade above him, who was standing above them with his hands in a defensive posture.

Arthur also realized that everyone was staring at Henry and not moving. It appeared that no one had noticed the doorway. Slowly edging around the tables, Arthur made his way closer to it, with the whimsical music growing louder. How could no one notice this?

As he approached the doorway, Arthur ignored the strange stares he was getting from half the assembled crowd and from Henry himself. The music was now impossibly loud and Arthur winced as he reached out to touch the etchings on the wall. As his hand connected, the lines of white burst forth in impossible brilliance and blinded Arthur, who stumbled back, his body suddenly completely numb.

Henry roared an unearthly roar and stooped to pick up the numb Arthur in his arms. He had finally found the boy. If only the two others had not gotten in his way. Nevertheless, Henry kicked aside the unconscious bodies and backed into the etched doorway, which remained unseen by the crowd. There was another flash of white brilliant light seen by only him and Arthur, who was still recovering from the last flash, and then they were both gone.

Henry's body slumped to the floor, his mind returned to him. Raziel, however, now able to take up a physical body again on the other side of the door, gripped Arthur in one hand and felt his leathery black wings sprout from his back. He gave a crooked grin with spiky teeth and jumped off the icy cliff they had emerged on through the doorway. Raziel chuckled, that weak Henry boy was going to have a hard time explaining why he had knocked out two kids.

Spreading out his wings, he flew to meet his master, buffeted by icy winds.

Just got it and watched it. For the second time. At the theater it blew me away and I loved it even more at home. I don't know why, but I love that movie!

Also, do you think I should enter the RPG Contest with Ocean Cruise or something new or not at all?
