  1. IC: Silver had not made an effort to start new conversation during the whole trip... trying to talk casually in such a situation was about as awkward as the silence had been. Following Sluice's lead he was surprised that the flat was actually intact (though it may have avoided damage during the invasion altogether) and looked almost exactly like how he'd last seen it. The more things change, the more things stay the same huh? he thought, though would've far preferred his body staying the same and the flat being the one to be redesigned. "Y-Yes, um, goodnight Sarah. A-And... thank you. For everything." the psychic stared at his feet awkwardly, glancing upwards after a few moments. He was eternally grateful for being rescued... any longer alone and his mind wouldn't be salvageable he was sure. And it was good to know even if everyone else had lost faith he was even alive she had held onto hope... that someone so important to him had still cared enough to do so. I will repay my debt to you someday...
  2. OOC: Every time it hits me, it seems to hit like a planetary collision. X_X IC: "I see. So you did a lot of good then, that's great to hear. I was worried for a while about what had become of you after we.... last saw each other" the psychic admitted, glancing away and frowning slightly. "Kind of wish I was able to say the same but... I wouldn't call fighting supervillians for their own stolen money particularly heroic of me. Still, better I waste it on my own attempt at a cure rather than let them build some.... Death Ray 9000 with it" he continued, thought knew something was up with Sluice. She wasn't herself, at least the Sluice he'd known previously.... some wasn't as vibrant as she used to be. Or as happy.... there was something she wasn't telling. Probably not taking me turning into a monster well he thought dejectedly. She was just putting on a brave face for his sake...
  3. IC: Silver didn't look entirely convinced it'd all just work out just peachy in the end, but nodded at Sarah as they walked back to where Esp's ship form was parked. "That would be nice, I guess...." he admitted, but he wasn't even sure he'd be welcome there in this form. From what Sarah was saying though at least the flat had been demolished to rubble during the invasion... or maybe it had been and just got fixed... he didn't really have much of an idea what had been happening in England since then for that matter. "Uh... I'm not sure I asked but what have you been doing? I mean.... once you got back when the Invasion ended" while it was an attempt to make small talk, it was also an uncomfortable one given the sequence of events that had occurred in his absence: his mental block on her Abyss persona being "a bad thing" high on the list.
  4. IC: "Home? ...... E-England, yes...." it took the psychic a few seconds to line up his definition of home to hers due to the cataclysmic nature of his living arrangements for the last seven years of his life; the last time he'd called anywhere home had been when he was still in school. Was his home now a flat on the other side of the world with two other superheroes? "I would like that" "Go on ahead, I will be ready to depart when you reach me" Esp's hologram opted to stay a few moments longer, discussing with Dr. Ostermann some kind of system link that would allow both parties to relay new information to the other instantly on Silver's condition, and any new advancements made on a cure. Before they got out of earshot Esp was explaining she had some kind of simulation program available they could test possible cures on, but after that it seemed to descend into incoherent techno-babble. Despite the fact they were leaving, Silver's mood still remained heavy. "You don't think Mentor's right, do you? That I belong.... in a place like this?" he didn't seem to consider the lab much more than a prison, meant to contain them so they couldn't hurt others... but in the psychic's case, every moment he spent in there was just minutes of his life wasting away. If no cure could be created, then he'd simply spend months in there before expiring, and achieve nothing...
  5. IC: Silver had taken the CAT scan relatively well... it wasn't exactly hard. The blood test did not go so well, the psychic always having had an aversion to needles and the memories of Technax's methods of torture still fresh in his mind. But the bone-marrow was almost a disaster, Sluice forced to step in to talk Silver down before he tried to gut Dr. Ostermann with a wristblade as Technax's aura-created visage superimposed itself over the doctor. One of Technax's methods had evidently been similar and caused him to regress, only the aquakinetic's assurances keeping him from falling out of reality.... once the sample was taken however he did cause a huge gash in the wall of the room, using it as an outlet for his pain more than anything as the aura around the doctor faded away. "Remaining here would be.... bad... for everyone..." Silver was not confident staying would do anything but make him more agitated and unstable, and it was clear he didn't want to be here. Apart from the pain all the area did was remind him how grave his situation was. "Since my travel time across the planet is relatively low, we should be able to return quickly when you make any developments Doctor. But I must agree that his remaining here will only cause..... problems. After all he has been through we should not stress him more than necessary" Esp's reasoning was sound, especially after the earlier display and Silver's degenerating mood. He'd been fighting supervillians in sloppy conditions at best for the last month, putting him into clinic for supers would hardly seem like a huge improvement in his book... it could even make his mental degradation worse from stress. OOC: I had a blood test recently... it wasn't enjoyable. I don't even want to imagine the feeling of a marrow test...
  6. OOC: Just stab him and take his blood or whatever it is you Doctors do, I'm no expert I'm just here to be confused and disoriented! I do have like, no idea what kind of tests she wants though I'd prefer to get Silver out and about ASAP. We need to go see Photon and mouth off at him a little IC: "But to do these tests you'd need me to.... do something, correct?" Silver's new aggression was rapidly building, Esp's hologram interjecting to detail information to Dr Ostermann and hold her attention before things could get out of hand. Grumbling something unpleasant the mutated psychic shifted away to a far wall to try and cool down. It was clear he really didn't want to be here, especially if his current condition was terminal... what an utter waste of his remaining days this would be. Trapped in some lab to be "helped"... more like used a lab rat to try and prevent other people suffering the same fate in the future, didn't matter what happened to him. If anyone cared they would've found me... helped me...
  7. OOC: Heeeeey, while their appearance may be similar Technax wasn't actually inspired by Manchine any! Besides, all that bucket of bolts did was blow up his own base then go into hiding... at least Technax caused global collateral damage and untold casualties before failing. He's way more infamous That drawing is amazing though Kumata, as per usual. The design of his arm-cannon is a tiny bit comical though, simply because I can see him very easily blowing a good portion of his own fingers off I do especially love that there seems to be an opening in his chest that is suspiciously Crystal shaped… IC: "So Mentor thinks I'm so bad I belong in here then...." Silver sighed dejectedly as he walked. All the signs were pointing to a "we'd like to keep you here for observation, so just live out the rest of your days hooked up to some gizmo" verdict coming from the good doctor, a diagnosis that may as well be "sorry we got nothing" as far as he was concerned. At least the latter he could do whatever he wanted for his remaining months. "Just what do you want me to do exactly?" the mutant asked, wanting to get it over with as soon as possible. Esp's holographic avatar meanwhile had hovered itself over to somewhere she could interface with the local network smoothly, starting to upload her data to the system while the other more organic members of the group were in discussion. OOC: By the way, the "force cell" that Darkness is in... any idea what kind of design that's like? Is he cuffed while inside it? What little was mentioned makes me think he's literally been thrown inside a sphere of energy, like some kind of Anti-Villian hamster ball
  8. OOC: So at first I was waiting on Dr. Ostermann to invite them inside, and then I eventually realised maybe LoAB was waiting on ME to have Esp relay the information.... it turned into a mess with nobody posting! XD Plot jumpcables go! IC: Esp's holographic form nodded and her projector floated inside, already starting to interface with Dr. Ostermann's local computer systems and upload the information the A.I. had already gathered on the sickness. Not really knowing whether he was meant to go inside or not Silver eventually just stepped inside and took a look around, expressing some confusion at the design of the place.... this didn't seem like a place you'd send suffers of genetic... mishaps. "Why does this place look like it's meant to withstand such a blasting?" the psychic was unable to hold his tongue, but he did bring up a fair point... this place wasn't as expected, and it's solid design suggested that maybe some people who went in here had tried to wreck the place at some point. That did not inspire confidence...
  9. IC: "Do understand that isn't a case where you can just do-over if something goes wrong, doctor" Silver replied bluntly, not approving of being labelled a "challenge" like some school kids difficult science experiment. If they couldn't find a solution in time, then we was going to die, pure and simple... and the current "life" he had lived was not what the psychic wanted to go out on. "I am sure that was not the impression she intended to make, but any risks will be minimised by our correlation of data. I trust you wish to take advantage of the existing information on the condition and my advanced technology, correct?" Esp's hovering holodisc had invited itself into the conversation, directing her gaze to Dr. Ostermann. Silver merely grumbled something under his breath, his sour mood showing no signs of improvement until he actually got some good news.
  10. IC: Is there really where an "expert" would spend their days working? This place.... Silver thought, glancing around the area. It was just so..... empty. Uninhabitated.... like the town was once a hundred times larger and something horrible had happened to everyone else. The building itself did not convey any messages that alleviated his concerns either... why would it be designed like that? He'd expected something more akin to a hospital... This whole area, this situation.... .... it feels wrong. I hope Mentor know what he's doing...
  11. IC: "Having allies is cold comfort when another of my screwups could get you all killed..." Silver grumbled, his eyes narrowing as he turned away to stare intently at a viewscreen of the rapidly moving scenery. He did not believe Sluice truly understood.... how could she? She had not drawn a warlord to Earth, causing untold devastation and countless fatalities... she had not been captured and subjected to excruitiating torture.... her reward for saving the planet from this threat had not been to be transformed into a monster. She understood nothing. "Approaching Birkholm now. If I may, I can provide the specialist with my own data and our combined efforts should be able to discover a solution that much faster" Esp chimed in as they slowed and began a descent. "Whatever..."
  12. IC: Silver did not seem to appreciate the aquakinetic's sentiment. "It isn't the League's responsibility to clean up my mess. The entire reason he found Earth at all was because I drew him here by holding onto that rock, and now that his invasion failed he's only going to be more driven to cause as much devastation as possible.... if he survived then he needs to be dealt with. Permanently." the mutant seemed adamant Technax would still be a great threat to Earth as a whole even with his Armarda oblitered, nor that he would remain limited as some of the League's normal criminal opposition. "Too many people died in the invasion for him to just sit in a cell until he escapes..."
  13. OOC: So I really figured there would be a vocal Fellwyd reply but... guess not. Sorry for being absent, but I'm also totally lost on where the Esp group is going and who this doctor is... are they a NPC that has showed up before or are they brand new? Who owns them? Apart from knowing we're going to see them, I have no idea what's happening =/ IC: "I apologise for forcing it upon you but... you would not understand from a simple explanation. I haven't been able to sense Technax's presence after he.... combusted... but I'm not foolish enough to believe he had no chance of survival. He could still be out there..." Silver walked up to the viewscreen that displayed the world outside the rapidly moving ship, scowling. "The question is where..." "Where?" ***************************** Meanwhile, "Where".... The freezing temperatures made the poles of planet Earth highly inhospitable to all life, natural or not usually in a matter of hours.... sometimes minutes. Surely nothing not purely designed for the cold could survive here for weeks... yet something did. The steady sound of grinding metal echo'd over the snowy plains as something travelled, the rushing wind moving to cover its deep tracks in the ice as quickly as they appeared. The squawk of a travelling penguin attracted its attention, and within minutes the panicked cries of the flightless bird was defeaned by a mammoth explosion across the ice. Standing atop its prey the being glanced up into the featureless sky and unleashed a horrible screech from its mouth that echoed for kilometres....
  14. OOC: Happy 2013 everyone! Makes my time between posts seem really bad when I say that too... IC: Silver glanced over at her for a moment before staring at the floor. "It did seem hopeless. But I tried to survive anyway and... well.... somehow I did. I can't explain it, but somehow that initial explosion didn't kill me. There wasn't any point trying to find an escape pod after that anyway... I don't even know if the Mothership HAD those since it was crewed by robots... but I wasn't about to let Technax escape either. So I faced him, and he chose to flee once he thought he'd taken care of me. But I was still kicking, and followed him onto his vessel.... that's where things started to go really wrong. I'm not sure me just telling you what happened would really do it justice..." he glanced up again, aura pulsing. "To truly understand what I went through, you have to see it through my eyes" Sluice and Fellwyd's visions began to blur as the memory of Silver's ordeal was directly placed into their heads so they could suffer the experiance personally: even more disturbing was that when their vision corrected itself in the new locale, they were no longer inhabitating a body their own... instead they were viewing the events of a month prior from Silver's first-person view directly. The vivid memories suddenly ended and Silver stepped back, clutching his head slightly before turning away, breathing heavily. Clearly the final set of images were not intended to have been shown, and merely reliving them at all was distressing the mutant greatly.
  15. OOC: Back from my long, unnannounced hiatus everybody! Apologies to Kumata and Ymper specifically, since I stalled their characters. Sorry! IC: "Should I not be able to? I'm different, not crippled" Silver took Sluice's request as outright questioning his capability to combat another psychic, something the mutant felt should never be placed in question. He'd helped take down Darkmage, had obliterated Saskeme from existance... with his new power level challenging Darkness's metal attacks were barely worthy of effort. "Let's just get this over with before he can slip away again..." the psychic grumbled, ascending Esp's boarding ramp to secure his arch-enemy. "Fellwyd, your new translator has been completed and is ready to be used" Esp cut in through Fellwyd's earpeice, giving him directions to where his new translator would be waiting for him to examine. OOC: Basically if I don't describe it Ymper, you can make the translator look and function any way you wish
  16. OOC: And stole her crown, which I'm pretty sure he actually lost at some point... he didn't take very good care of it!IC: "Force-cells? I'd hope he can't wiggle his way out of those.... but if you have any problems with him, let me know and I'll.... pay him a visit" Silver spoke up for the first time when his "sibling" was mentioned: the psychic feeling quite a lot of responsability for the supervillian's actions since the two of them had once been the same being. Because of the split he was no longer plaged by personality switches, but at the same time Darkness had accomplished a lot of evil deeds that weighed heavily on his concience... everything that Darkness accomplished could've been avoided if only he'd been able to stay one being. A sometimes insane hero was better than an always insane supervillian, he reasoned.... but then what kind of normal life could he have had with opposing two minds? Not like that matters anymore....
  17. OOC: Silver probably would've had a heart attack the moment he learned he was in a submarine deep under the ocean's surface, and Gadgeteer had blasted a hole in it to enter. His hydrophobia (specifically drowning) is pretty extreme...I think as soon as they went underwater for an older mission he said "I've changed my mind, I want to go back ;_; " Now I also feel bad Soundsmith was scared off... we're a nice bunch of fellows, really, Silver's just... coming down with a case of insanity and it's sort of a priority (excuses excuses). At you get to hang out with the guy who makes valuables... surely he owns severals Ferrari's...IC: "Platnium!"Oh God, this day just keeping get worse and worse... Silver wished he had the power to make dimensional doors just so he could send Platnium away through one. While he bore no true ill will towards the wealthokinetic, Platnium was highly disliked by the psychic just for being pretty what Silver dreamed to be: tall, good looking and he could make gold, silver and platnium on a whim... he may as well be a walking ATM. Sure, he said he always made sure to clean up the valuables he made, but would someone who could make gold really be poor? At the very least, he could shower his (probably numerous) girlfriends with self-made jewellery... for someone who was literally without a cent to his name and did not consider himself a looker, Silver thought Platnium may as well be wearing a solid-gold costume and strutting around with a scantily clad heroine on each arm. His very existance was just flaunting what he had in front of the psychic...I just wanna punch that smug smirk right off his- "Alright, let's find Mentor. Um, sorry about that er, distraction Silver.""W-What? No it's.... f-fine...." he'd almost completely missed what she said, too busy trying to fathom if he could actually sock Platnium in the mouth and get away with it... even though Platnium's counterpunch would probably be enough to knock him unconcious since the psychic's actual fistycuffs experiance was... well, low to the point of non-existance. The hero had already left and taken the rookie with him anyway, so Silver just followed Sluice to the study, albiet a little worried: he was relising he was actually holding petty grudges against quite a number of heroes and villians alike just for "innocent flirting". Glancing at the aquakinetic he sighed.Maybe that's because you're the only thing in my life of value I've got left...
  18. IC: Silver appreciated the distraction the armory provided, especially all the weapons and armors... some seemed highly unusual, and he busied himself trying to guess what they all were for, or who the heck could wear them comfortably in the latter case. When Soundsmith found his own and... "dressed" (for lack of a better word) in it, holstering his weapons, Silver was dumbfounded.... he wasn't sure he could comprehend what he just saw.... he was wearing a drum set. Wearing it."Well that was..... different...." was all he could say, the powers this Soundsmith guy had was just... logic went right out the window. Would a kazoo become a rocket launcher? What about an accordian? Just trying to comprehend how the drum-set armor provided any kind of actual use in a fight, apart from confusing the heck out of any supervillians made the psychic's head hurt. Crazy new rookies with newfangled powers... now he felt old, and he was only 22. At least he hoped this power seemed as nuts to everyone else in the room, so he didn't feel quite so left out.
  19. No, no nononononono "Um, ok, that's fine,"Oh well that's just greaaaaaaaat Silver thought, highly tempted to facepalm. Sluice's "sorry smile", while appreciated didn't make him feel much better, especially when it sounded like this Soundsmith fellow wasn't at all experianced... so now they were babysitting a rookie too? That's all he needed to deal with right now... When the new hero mentioned being chased as a vigliante Silver was unable to hold his tongue:"I guess that means you hadn't really got the hang of disappearing from the scene after your heroics? You don't need to hang around for praise as long as the job gets done completely..." though Soundsmith probably wouldn't be aware, Silver's critisism was incredibly harsh: the psychic had been able to turn invisible for the duration of his career which made getting away unseen incredibly easy... for a guy with sound in his alias, that suggested a lot of attention-attracting noise and lacking the ability to vanish just by turning a corner. Not a fair judgement by far...OOC: Nothing personal Toa Kaithas, Silver just liked it better when it was just he and Sluice. Probably because he fancied her when he was still human Now she's adopting new heroes, aliens or otherwise like stray puppies....Why couldn't you be a hot babe instead, Silver wouldn't mind that Too many guys in the group, and we'll all got to share one bathroom...I kid of course!
  20. OOC: This IC also has the Ymper stamp of approval; Fellwyd is not a talkative being... well, his translator is only one-way right now so I guess that's a valid enough reason :PIC: When Sluice's words were translated the alien had tossed his cup of this-definatly-isn't-tea into the potted plant (which after having 2 cups of hot water and 1 cup of ?-drink thrown upon it was struggling for life) and started to follow along: Silver himself tried to take a sip from his own glass and almost immediatly gagged on... whatever it was. It looked more like Fanta than tea... if it WAS tea, then it definatly wasn't the brand Photon kept in his flat. Abandoning the cup on the coffee table he followed Sluice's lead as well.... primarly because he didn't know where anything in the League HQ was, let alone Mentor himself. Sluice probably knew the way, he reasoned. Probably. As far as Silver knew, Mentor was perhaps the most powerful psychic the world had ever seen... he wondered if the League founder would be willing to share some of his skills and teach him a thing or two: but with Silver's powers far stronger than before, maybe he was already on Mentor's level.... maybe even stronger? Quickly pushing the thought of challenging Mentor to a bout (like that would end well!) out of his mind, Silver wondered how the League in general were taking his return.... did anyone else even care? Would they be as welcoming now he looked like this? Well, they let Fellwyd in... as long as he was still sane he shouldn't have issues, right?
  21. OOC: I adore than collage of images Kumata! I'm especially fond of the Saskeme scene, as well as the uncoloured Technax Amarda image right down the bottom where Technax's "unstoppable" troops are just being slaughtered effortlessly by heroes and villians alike :PIC: "I guess that's a good point. Even a short trip might do us some good...." Silver couldn't argue with that logic, though Esp may not take so kindly to being relagated to a tour guide. "But I know you didn't bring me all the way here just to talk, we could've done that anywhere really. The League's going to want to... take tissue samples and all that fun stuff, right? We should probably get that over with... it won't be plesant" the psychic didn't want to delay a possible cure any longer than he had to, even though it was highly unlikely the League's methods of obtaining tissue samples would be any less painful than every other one he'd had taken so far... albiet those had gone to some questionable people.
  22. IC: "I'm not sure hiding in the flat and being an even bigger pain for Photon would help, but..... I wouldn't mind a break of some kind. Even for a little while, just not being able to worry about everything would be great. But unless League membership comes with annual free resort trips, I'm not letting you pay for anything Sarah. You know full well I'm broke, and just because I'm sick doesn't mean you can bankrupt yourself trying to make it all better: I've survived this long in pretty much a gladiator's pit, Photon's flat is basically a resort as far as I'm concerned..." while the psychic (like most other people) would always enjoy time in some fancy resort, he had no way to pay a share or anything of the sort... and outright mooching off Sluice's kindness was not something he was willing to do. Not when he pratically was doing so already with regards to Photon's flat... he already owed the pair of them a lot.He chuckled softly. "You really think I'd be able to slip under the radar on any public beach? Maybe with a really big sunhat..."
  23. OOC: This is the part where most people say "Anything?" and Sluice nods, regretting it for the rest of her days. Silver Silver Silver, letting golden oppotunities slip away time after time... *tsk tsk's*IC: The psychic was unresponsive for a few seconds before placing his cushion-faceshield aside, starting to look down at the floor."It means a lot to hear that, Sarah, it really does but... I don't think it can be helped like this. What I planned was.... well... to live. A normal life, I mean... you know, get a job, have a home... I've spend eight years just getting by day to day, but never planning ahead that far, never.... having any real future. Then you turned all that around: you got me into the League, you and Photon gave me a place to stay... some actual stability. I had a real chance of actually getting a job, doing something other than saving people all the time... you know, a proper future. And... well.... here we are now and I'm like this. You think I could get any kind of normal job looking like something out of a horror flick? Or...." he paused, not sure whether to continue or not for a few moments. "Or have any kind of family...""I've all ever wanted for so many years was the chance to just.... lead a normal life like everyone else. No matter how hard I try and adapt, I'll just never fit in... not like this. But.... better me than someone who already had a life to live, I guess...." he trailed off on a bit of a cruel, postive note that at least he had little of a life when it happened: the same thing happening to someone like Sluice would be much harsher for her, he figured. She already had family, friends... well she did have a job sometime before the Invasion. All he'd done had been following her around, and before that.... well... before that he didn't officially exist as a hero at all. Ruining someone with no life was better than ruining someone with a life... right?
  24. OOC: Maybe it's just me, but she seems to be taking the news far worse than Silver is! Maybe she just aware Photon is a bit of a womaniser and doesn't want to be left alone with him after Silver's kicked the bucket... Fellwyd doesn't even count as a person, he's an alien (racist! I hear you say).I kid of course :PIC: "Weeks? I passed weeks... well.... weeks ago. So basically what you're saying is I'm going to... lose my mind completely. Or just keel over sometime in the next year anyway. Insanity and death, or death and insanity, that's just great. Is it too much to ask for something to go my way, once, just once?! And just NOT have problems?!" Silver got a bit more emotional now, grabbing a cushion and pressing it into his face in agitation for a few seconds. He could live with looking like this for a while, sure.... but being pretty much guarunteed of not living past a year AND going crazy in the meantime? And if there was any "safe period" where he wouldn't actually suffer any degradation, well he'd already passed that weeks ago apparently, so... he was screwed. Doomed. Cya envisioned future normal life, you're now over before you even had a chance to begin..."What did I do to deserve this?" he mumbled into the cushion a bit, showing more of a depressing mood than ever: "I had all this stuff planned..."
  25. IC: Silver had telekinetically supported his drink (tea was brown the last time he had, right? Was this some kind of fancy new brand?) to stop his misshappen hands from dropping it, taking a seat when Sluice did albiet somewhat akwardly as the seat wasn't designed with his big tail in mind... it certainly didn't help Sluice any to see him struggling in even basic things such as sitting and holding. Then she started to explain it all, and he listened, just holding his whatever-it-was drink. As she went on he seemingly got more downcast (his tail sinking lower) and got even more quiet than usual, soon totally silent and not even his breathing audible. Then Sluice seemed unable to continue and he glanced up a little, sending his drink telekinetically floating over to land on the coffee table quietly."So.... what you're saying is it's only going to get worse...." It was barely above a whisper, simply because Silver couldn't muster much more as he stared at his misshappen hand and the orb-tipped fingers he now possessed. He had held onto the hope that, somehow, an easy-fix would exist or that the worst was already over... that all he'd suffered for a month was the hard part over already. But it was going to get worse. Maybe a lot worse. He'd suffered so much already just to suffer even more now. The psychic couldn't reacted any number of ways to learning what he just had: he could've burst into tears, refused to believe what he was being told... he couldn't been thrown into a rage and tried to blow up the whole League HQ. But he didn't do any of those things, he was just sitting there, unnervingly quiet...."W-What's the longest I'll last?"OOC: Just clarifying, Silver's body won't actually degrade any further as his "morph" from human to mutant has already happened long ago: only his mind will degrade (which will eventually cause him to pretty much go braindead, and the body stops living then).Unless you're aware of that and just had Sluice put it another way XD
