Ok, so I lied. This is more than one post. But I just had to say this.

As I was going through the Comedies forum, I wondered to myself, "what has happened?" I realise that not everybody who writes comedies is going to be absolutely hilarious (at least in my opinion. Everybody is funny to somebody else. I think). But, I was shocked at the lack of originality.

Going the the 8 pages of various topics, I managed to find many comedies in which Bionicle characters stay at home, go to school, start talk shows, or opening restaurants. There were also many comedies in which Bionicle comedies went somehwere on Earth, somebody on earth went to someplace like Mata Nui, Bionicle characters meet up with people from some TV show or video game, etc.

Then there are the ask comedies. The original (or at least I think it is), "Ask Tahu",m was a pretty good comedy. There is also a commen saying, "imitation is the sincerest form of flatery." However, I think it's a bit rediculous when there are more than 25 "Ask somebody" comedies in a single month, and most of them have the same kinds of jokes.

Speeking of the same kinds of jokes, most of the comedies I went through had tons of jokes based on (or at least used several times) at least one of the following:
Pie cookies Tahu burning stuff violence Barney, or some other kids' show steriotypes such as Pohatu having no inteligence or Takua being extremely annoying Various characters (including narrators) messing up the script completely random events/characters shouting random things "Cool Dude" Ending chapters with several questions about what is going to happen in the next chapter (I know I used this in MoL: The Musical, but I'm trying to go through different comedies and trace it back to the sourse, since I'm pretty sure that other people have used the technique before I thought of it) I'm sure that at one time all of these were hilarious, and I admit to using some of them in my own comedies, but when you write an entire comedy based on pie, cookies, and Tahu as a pyromaniac, things just aren't that funny any more.

I sincerely appologize if I offended anybody, but I just had to get that out of my system.

Well, I'm probably only going to be able to do this once, since I'm not a premier member, so here goes...

I introduce to you my thoughts so far on the year 2006 in Bionicle...

Originally, I wasn't that impressed. The piraka looked...well, I can't exactly remember, but I know I didn't like them. And I was once again disapointed that we had a new 'collectable item', the zamor spheres, and they weren't even that collectable (at the time, they came in just green, and you could buy packs that had gold, silver and bronze. Not that exciting.)

However, my views have since changed.

When the first pictures of Umbra came out, I was awed. I was glad to see the (slight) return of the rhotuka, and the whole set looked awesome (Especially something brand new...Wheels!) The lack of a new mask was slightly disapointing, but we've gotten several new ones this year so I'm not complaining.

The titans looked pretty awesome too. I personally like Axxonn better than Brutaka (I really like the hands, and the axe looks cool), but both of them are top-of-the-line sets in my opinion. Vezon & Fenrakk look pretty cool as well, especially the mouth action feature.

The Matoran are nice sets, not that bad considering their size, and a cheap way for me to get pieces I coule never afford (such as Takanuva's staffs, and a chronicler's tool that I still need to go get).

I don't know much about the playsets yet, but they don't look too bad. I haven't been that impressed with them before though, becuase they're so different from all other Bionicle sets. I have nothing against all other Lego sets, but one of the things that drew me to Bionicle was how different and new trhe sets were from other lego sets (and not incredibly complex like other Technic sets)

And the Toa Inika...Wow. As I was one of the many people who hated the original name 'Ignitors', I have to say I am very pleased. The light up feature looks great in the dark (as I've seen from pictures), but the only thing that annoys me with that is replacing batteries when they die (Although I did have fun trying out a piraka at a store recently). The rapid-fire zamor feature is pretty cool, and is a nice way to make a distinction between the Toa zamor launchers and those of the Piraka. And I just can't get over the new translucent peices.

The only thing that really bothers me is the prices. Since I don't have a ton of money, it's really hard for me to chose which sets I would get. In the end, I'm probably going to go with Jaller and Matoro (For the translucent pieces; they just bring a whole new look to the Toa of Ice), and Umbra (I think; It looks pretty cool but I'm wtill waiting for a review).

Over all, I think this is turning into one of the best years since the years of the original Toa back in my favorite years of 2001 and 2002.
