  1. As a person who enjoys space and astronomy, I am very disapointed by this news. Although it may not be official, I'll probably still consider it to be a planet

    Page Five!

A couple of weeks ago, I actually went through all the active pages of the Comedy forum, and counted how many of each of the following comedies there were: Ask so-and-soSo-and-so at HomeSo-and-so Starts a RestaurantSo-and-so Goes to SchoolSome Bionicle character meets somebody not related to Bionicle in Any WayThe Toa (or somebody else) go SomewhereEtc.I'll try to dig it up later...
  3. Hmm, I actually did not know this. I assumed it was lower, because its a bigger instrument, but just like you I thought there would be a bigger difference. Well, you learn something new every day. I wonder what new fact you'll post tommorow...

    Page Five!

Kind of reminds me of a suite I played two years ago (I forgot which one, but I'll try to find out), in which one of the movements was written in 2/4 3/4 time (That's how it was notated, with the two time signatures right next to eachother.) It was essentially in 5/4, with each measure going back and forth between 2/4 and 3/4.

    Pohatu Day

Wow, I haven't seen Hapori Tohu around for a while. Maybe I'm just not very observant. Yay, International Pohatu Day is here!

    Page Five!

Congradulations on reaching page 5! While you wer away, I did my best to try and help keep the forum a bit cleaner. A Lot of reporting was done...
  7. Yes, is it kind of ironic that this happens even though there is a reminder on every single page not to post chapters with less than 300 words. Maybe those words need to be a little bit bigger... Lucky for me, I have the opposite problem. I don't really worry about the 300 word limit, since I have a hard time stopping my ideas. It's the 50k characters per post I need to worry about (I think that's the limit. I know I've hit it before, and needed to move the rest of what I was typing into another post.)

    Rounds

Good luck indeed. I went through there recently, and was shocked at how much spam and other not-so-good stuff was there. That, and the incredible amounts of non-originality. (I was really bored, and made an excell spreadsheet detailing how many comedies were "Ask so-and-so," "The Toa go someplace," "Somebody starts a Resturant, At Home!", etc.)
  9. Ok, so I lied. This is more than one post. But I just had to say this. As I was going through the Comedies forum, I wondered to myself, "what has happened?" I realise that not everybody who writes comedies is going to be absolutely hilarious (at least in my opinion. Everybody is funny to somebody else. I think). But, I was shocked at the lack of originality. Going the the 8 pages of various topics, I managed to find many comedies in which Bionicle characters stay at home, go to school, start talk shows, or opening restaurants. There were also many comedies in which Bionicle comedies went somehwere on Earth, somebody on earth went to someplace like Mata Nui, Bionicle characters meet up with people from some TV show or video game, etc. Then there are the ask comedies. The original (or at least I think it is), "Ask Tahu",m was a pretty good comedy. There is also a commen saying, "imitation is the sincerest form of flatery." However, I think it's a bit rediculous when there are more than 25 "Ask somebody" comedies in a single month, and most of them have the same kinds of jokes. Speeking of the same kinds of jokes, most of the comedies I went through had tons of jokes based on (or at least used several times) at least one of the following: PiecookiesTahu burning stuffviolenceBarney, or some other kids' showsteriotypes such as Pohatu having no inteligence or Takua being extremely annoyingVarious characters (including narrators) messing up the scriptcompletely random events/characters shouting random things"Cool Dude"Ending chapters with several questions about what is going to happen in the next chapter (I know I used this in MoL: The Musical, but I'm trying to go through different comedies and trace it back to the sourse, since I'm pretty sure that other people have used the technique before I thought of it)I'm sure that at one time all of these were hilarious, and I admit to using some of them in my own comedies, but when you write an entire comedy based on pie, cookies, and Tahu as a pyromaniac, things just aren't that funny any more. I sincerely appologize if I offended anybody, but I just had to get that out of my system.
  10. Yep, Toy Story is a great movie, and just another reason I like Joss Whedon. Well, I too have 'jumped on the bandwagon', and mentioned in my new blog/blob that it'll only last a week (the subtitle mentions that it's only 1 post long!) Alas, I am too cheap to afford to go premier, so it'll stay that way for a while. Haven't seen WoS. Yeah, I'm not alone! I really need to get around to picking up a copy one of these days (then again, I could try and become one of if not the first person on BZP to write a comedy spoofing they've never seen, and baseing it entirely off of continuety noticed between several other spoofs...)
  11. My frozen dinners??? NO!!!! I must microwave my three pizzas...You can't have them! Yeah, I should probably empty my PM box soon too...

    2006

Well, I'm probably only going to be able to do this once, since I'm not a premier member, so here goes... I introduce to you my thoughts so far on the year 2006 in Bionicle... Originally, I wasn't that impressed. The piraka looked...well, I can't exactly remember, but I know I didn't like them. And I was once again disapointed that we had a new 'collectable item', the zamor spheres, and they weren't even that collectable (at the time, they came in just green, and you could buy packs that had gold, silver and bronze. Not that exciting.) However, my views have since changed. When the first pictures of Umbra came out, I was awed. I was glad to see the (slight) return of the rhotuka, and the whole set looked awesome (Especially something brand new...Wheels!) The lack of a new mask was slightly disapointing, but we've gotten several new ones this year so I'm not complaining. The titans looked pretty awesome too. I personally like Axxonn better than Brutaka (I really like the hands, and the axe looks cool), but both of them are top-of-the-line sets in my opinion. Vezon & Fenrakk look pretty cool as well, especially the mouth action feature. The Matoran are nice sets, not that bad considering their size, and a cheap way for me to get pieces I coule never afford (such as Takanuva's staffs, and a chronicler's tool that I still need to go get). I don't know much about the playsets yet, but they don't look too bad. I haven't been that impressed with them before though, becuase they're so different from all other Bionicle sets. I have nothing against all other Lego sets, but one of the things that drew me to Bionicle was how different and new trhe sets were from other lego sets (and not incredibly complex like other Technic sets) And the Toa Inika...Wow. As I was one of the many people who hated the original name 'Ignitors', I have to say I am very pleased. The light up feature looks great in the dark (as I've seen from pictures), but the only thing that annoys me with that is replacing batteries when they die (Although I did have fun trying out a piraka at a store recently). The rapid-fire zamor feature is pretty cool, and is a nice way to make a distinction between the Toa zamor launchers and those of the Piraka. And I just can't get over the new translucent peices. The only thing that really bothers me is the prices. Since I don't have a ton of money, it's really hard for me to chose which sets I would get. In the end, I'm probably going to go with Jaller and Matoro (For the translucent pieces; they just bring a whole new look to the Toa of Ice), and Umbra (I think; It looks pretty cool but I'm wtill waiting for a review). Over all, I think this is turning into one of the best years since the years of the original Toa back in my favorite years of 2001 and 2002.
  13. Hmm...That is random. And also Ironic that you commented on the 5th blog of the week at 5:55 pm...
  14. I would definatly play Full-contact scrabble. That just sounds awesome. Ok, QUIZZES gets me 24 points, an additional 48 points for hitting the tripple word score, 50 points for using 7 tiles, and an addition 100 points for knocking out Player #3, for a grand total of 242 points. Your turn! They could probably air it on ESPN8, the Ocho

    Inika

I don't really like them either. The new head are just so...un-head like. Especially when you look at them from the back, it looks like their heads are hollow. Then again, I'm also not part of the majority that likes the price change for the light of parts. Although the light up stuff is cool (especially the pictures I've seen of the swords lit up in complete darkness), I don't think it's worth the extra dollar. Since I don't have a lot of money, I'm going to have to be really choosy about which ones I can get since I know I can't get them all (and I really wanted Umbra later in the year). Although now that I think about it, it would be kind of cool to make a sludge MOC...

    Perfect Fourths

Well, I just thought of another use for the interval of a perfect sixth: The NBC theme (scale tones 1, 6, and then 4 of any major scale). Ironically enough, you'll get the same progression if play any major triad, followed by the second and first inversonis respectively.
  17. Congradulations! As far as I know, this time sets a new record!

    Composing

Ironically enough, the piece I wrote (I called it the Devil's Haircut, which was a joke based on the fact that the tritone was originally called the Devil's Pitch) was written while I was at a jazz camp, and the other piece that I've been writing is another Jazz Song which I'm calling Melting Clocks. They do seem to be easier to write than concert band music, but I mainly find that because there's less instrumentation (although the rhythm section can be hard sometimes, especially for wind players). Well, It's always fun to discuss music, even if not many people do it (I've only really had a 'musical conversation' with 1 person in real life that I can remember, and they are also a clarinetist.)

    Blog Fire Drill

Yeah, that's weird stuff. Sort of like the difference between unlawful and illegal.

    Composing

Ah, yes, the tritone. A good interval. I think my first actual piece of music that I wrote was based entirely on that pitch (It was written for the piano, with the chords in the key of C minor, and the melody in F# minor.). If I can find a way to send you an MP3 or MIDI file of it, I will.

    Close If Dupe

If so, then we could probably eliminate the whole problem by getting rid of posts as well (and the Topic Name, if necessary). I have to say, I don't think I've ever used the phrase 'close if dupe'. I've always thought it was silly because if it was a 'dupe topic', the moderators would close it no matter if you told them to or not. You might as well just say 'fell free to moderate this post if it breaks any of BZP's rules', 'please close if this topic if it gets filled with spam', or 'please do your job as a moderator, if you feel like it'.

    Perfect Fourths

Well, perfect fourths are always used in my school to tune up the timpanies (and in the tune 'Here Comes the Bride'). And perfeect sixths can sound cool in jazz.
  23. ACTUAL COMMENT Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that. First of all, very well written. Second of all, I think you have a very good point. Some people may not like accurate-to-set drawings because they don't take much artistic liberties. I can understand that, but I am personally very fond of those kinds of art. I'm not saying that I frown upon other artwork, but I really like it when an artist takes the time to show all of the details that are in a specific set. Maybe its because I have a certain knack for small details and Bionicle sets have tons of them, or maybe its because I believe an artist really loves what they do if they can take the time to show every single hole or notch placed on a single piece. (So yes, I would probably comment somebody who posted nothing but a picture of a sketch of a toa hand). And although Be Kold may not win in the finals, you did manage to pull out a victory in the not-so-final polls. Congradulations!
