  1. Man, I really like your idea for how Journey to One should have ended this year. It's well thought-out and feels very likely to have been the case - an expanded version of what we currently have condensed into one episode. It also got me thinking for the first time that Agil is essentially the elemental beast for big Ekimu. Dang, I really need that set. I just love how these ideas aren't far-fetched at all. It's all based on what currently exists and its all logical. And its also making me super disappointed that we won't get a Bionicle 2017. -NotS
  2. Hmm, that's a good question. Instead of trying to capitalize on nostalgia (aka, do another six heroes, one destiny mask collect-a-thon) maybe they should try something really bold, new, and fresh but still familiar? Like have a 2003-esque quest where two villager characters go out looking for the six gods (the Toa) who abandoned a lost civilization. Or something that acknowledges the old Bionicle but doesn't repeat it, you know? A distant continuation set on a world suspended in time after a war for the ancient Vahi mask ended with catacylsm. Something with mystery and intrigue like 2001, but not a copy of it. It needs some sort of complexity, great marketing, and an incentive to partake in the world. But it doesn't have to be the same six Toa characters or the same concepts like mask collecting. -NotS
  3. I'm disappointed too - like others have said, I fully expected a three year run and well... what we got was less than satisfactory. It almost kinda feels like 2010. I guess it just stings that we got a repeat of the last generation but in a much shorter lifespan... -NotS
  4. Looks really good so far! You are making amazing progress. I really hope it is a combo. -NotS
  5. Well, Faber never disappoints with his art. Thanks for the support, Faber! -NotS
  6. Man, the context behind this competition is so bleak now. I'm glad it was posted when it was because I don't think it would have been enough to please fans after such a rough day. -NotS
  7. SHHHH QUIET ABABABAHFAJFAFJAOITUAH THAT WEIRD VOICE IN MY HEAD AGAIN
  8. I just keep posting here, hoping it'll fill this empty feeling I have. I just found the original topic for Bionicle being confirmed for 2015. Remember how excited we all were? How much we speculated whether that Mask was the elusive Mask of Creation, whether the new theme would be a reboot or a continuation, whether or not the line would last another 10 years... That was less than two years ago. -NotS
  9. Yeah, I took a look at the Makuta contest video again and it looked like it could be built out of the existing 2015-2016 line no problem. I hope they provide instructions. The only problem is the Mask of Ultimate Power. I really wish we could get it. I don't even care about the Mask of Time. I just want the MoUP... It exists. -NotS
  10. It looks really good for what it is. Captures the shape and feel of the mask really well. I might just use this if I end up figuring out and building JtO Makuta. Thanks a lot man, and great job! -NotS
  11. I hate to say it, but I think that is definitely part of the problem. Bionicle got a great reveal conference at Comic-Con, but aside from that it barely had any promotional presence. There were no big third-party sponsorship's to help get word around that Bionicle was back. Bionicle in 2001 had a lot of sponsors promoting the line, from Nesquik to McDonalds to CCGs to Music albums by Universal. You'd think that in a world revolving around digital advertisements it'd be easier to get the word around but the efforts were so minimal. And you are right - having a story-filled comic included in each LEGO Magazine probably helped build a lot of interest and kept it going issue to issue. -NotS
  12. The LEGO Movie only came out two years ago. Bionicle hadn't even relaunched then. Think about that. -NotS
  13. Actually, that's an interesting observation. If it really only uses pieces from those sets, I wonder if LEGO could release instructions to build the JtO Makuta yourself? That'd be awesome. I'd definitely buy those sets again just to create the official Makuta model. -NotS
  14. A Bionicle-themed Pokemon Go!-esque game would definitely appeal to me. Only if LEGO released it on Windows Phone though lol -NotS
  15. So... yeah. I didn't particularly like it. But I do admire how cohesive it was for a really rushed ending. Episode 3 was nothing to write home about. I really wish they had written the story to build up the endgame better. It had some pretty cool action scenes against the Beasts but the overall pacing was hampered by instances of absent or repeated animations and terrible dialogue all around. No real explanation for Ekimu's new form either. Episode 4 is the meat of this season, and I have to say that I liked a lot of the ideas present but the execution was (as expected) lackluster. First off, I really like how Lewa, Pohatu and Onua (to an extent) got some character moments in previous episodes, and Gali really shone in this episode as well. With the focus on Tahu and a bit more on Kopaka in 2015, it feels only fair to share the spotlight. Plus, some of the action scenes were really good. Pohatu's mega rock form was super cool and I appreciated the animation in the all Toa vs Umarak fight. Plus, the dialogue was a bit better with some excellent witty remarks from Lewa. But that's probably all I have to say that's good. I didn't hate the series. Heck, I enjoyed it. These episodes weren't good but I'm really grateful that it at least concluded. I'd like to get this series on DVD someday, if it ever happens. I mean, how else are we ever going to watch this again if Netflix stops streaming it? -NotS
  16. Yeah, I just watched Journey to One season 2 and I gotta say, we could have benefited from one more year. That being said, it wasn't the worst for how rushed it had to be. -NotS
  17. I guess Tahu and Ikir combined together. I think that's an amazing combo, seriously one of Bionicle's best, and an iconic image to define the 2015-16 story arc. OR the Mask of Creation. That was the main keyart for the reveal of the reboot. -NotS
  18. Only problem there is that Ninjago was never actually cancelled. It was planned to be discontinued after its 3 year run but was brought back after the brand proved profitable. Bionicle was cancelled two years into its 3 year run. Must not have sold well. -NotS
  19. I don't know why you're surprised. People are emotional about something, they are going to post based on that instead of taking the time to find the topic and contribute to it. Heck this is big news to most of us. I'm not saying its okay to have these duplicate topics. I'm just saying this won't be the last topic of this nature and there's no reason to get worked up over it. -NotS
  20. Come on guys, no one has to be sarcastic or passive aggressive. We're on a Bionicle fansite. These responses are a normal thing considering the circumstances. Just tolerate it for a bit and it'll wash over. I don't see why we should be chastising people who just want to say their thoughts about something they are passionate about. I can fully understand the frustration, having been through this back in 2010. -NotS
  21. I don't really mind. People say this "Bring Back Bionicle" nonsense because they are passionate about the franchise and are disappointed about it ending. It's a normal response, and I can tolerate it. If anything, it'll get the boards more active. They've been off and on for a while. -NotS
  22. Bad news to top off a bad day. Still can't really take it in yet. I can't believe its over again. It was too short. But despite the terrible news, I'm glad it came back. We had two solid years and I am grateful for that. I just wish we could have had a proper year for set-up and a proper year for a conclusion. And a Makuta set. But you can't get everything, and I'm just happy that what we got was quality. Furthermore, the support from the Bionicle team has been astounding. They have been great to their fans and have really connected with us in a way that was not present in G1 through their Facebook pages, designer videos, and interviews. Their statement here comes off humble, as expected. I really wish the line could have continued to 2017 and beyond, but I understand why the plug had to be pulled. The art book seems like a great way to cap off the franchise a second time. I hope I can get a hard copy of it, but if not, I am at least glad it is releasing in a digital format to BS01. I'm glad to have taken a part in this reboot. I only have five more sets to get... Might as well complete my G2 collection. It's all worth it. Hopefully G3 will happen in the future. -NotS
