  1. The 3D models look fantastic! Fantastic renders and they make fine wallpapers too. Definitely gotta thank Volta for taking time out of their day to deliver to us such awesome art. -NotS
  2. I really like this realistic style. Almost makes me wish that the show was done this way. Absolutely epic poses, especially with the music. I'm glad they took the extra time to make this. It looks phenomenal. -NotS
  3. The Vahi plot is actually really getting me interested in the lore of G2 so that's actually a good indicator. The more intrigue, mystery the story throws, the more I pay attention to it. Looks like the story team is slowly getting to that point and that's super exciting. -NotS
  4. I'm biased, but Tahu. I think he looks epic, especially when combined with Ikir. I also really like Kopaka and Onua as well. Lewa isn't bad. Gali and Pohatu aren't doing it for me this year. -NotS
  5. That makes a ton of sense. To foster discussion, you have to find something worth talking about first, and the people who are satisfied will have little to contribute. So in a sense, the amount of backlash on the internet about G2 is a good thing, because it is keeping it relevant in discussion circles. -NotS
  6. Man there are so many great Toa teams, but at the end of the day I have to say the classic six Toa Mata/Nuva. Call it nostalgia-bias, whatever, I know they aren't the most exciting or developed characters but I grew up with them. That counts for something. -NotS
  7. I don't haha, I just put them on my shelves for display. I don't think I've ever stored my Bionicle sets before. -NotS
  8. The good thing about clone sets was that you were guaranteed a plethora of new parts in every base colour the line had to offer, which is great for Mocing and customization. They also looked very organized and fantastic as a group. The problem was the lack of innovative builds, as a wave would only have one pre-determined build. It would be hard to justify purchasing all six on a tight budget because you'd get little to no variation. I feel the sets from 2007-present had a lot of character in them without relying on masks and weapon differences because of their unique builds. And it made it more fun to collect them too, though the organization and guaranteed colour variation of pieces was no longer a thing. -NotS
  9. Probably should spoiler tag your post. It looks really cool, I like it for sure and it really does leave room for a second half. Glad to see physical confirmation of its existence. Plus, the shopped images of the two halves coming together actually look pretty good. -NotS
  10. Another great speed drawing by a fantastic concept artist. Kopaka and Melum look great in this piece. Absolutely stunning work, I wish Bionicle G2 followed this art style throughout! -NotS
  11. Cool. The art is fantastic. As for the graphic novel - this is just fantastic. Big revelations. Got me excited about the franchise again! I finally caught up and read Revenge of the Skull Spiders and Gathering of the Toa. The book was fantastic, I really enjoyed the side story of the Protectors journeying to the city of the Mask Makers and their characterization (though it really didn't amount to anything) along with the introduction of a new character in Harvali and a look at the landscape and fauna of Okoto. Definitely liking these books. The graphic novel had great moments too - can't say I dug the art too much but I mean, what can I say - Bionicle, in my opinion, was known for its comics so its good to see the story being explored in this medium again. As for the second graphic novel though... Dang. G2 is finally getting to that level of intrigue I loved so much about G1. -NotS
  12. This is great! I'm going to listen to these interviews tonight. Its so cool that we are at a point where we can actually contact these people and learn about the production of the Bionicle franchise. I assume in G1 there was a lack of communication facets and a lot of us were just so young too. Our main communication came from Greg, who was great, but we never had interviews like what BS01 did with Volta. Fantastic. -NotS
  13. It's a truly beautiful rendition of Tahu and Ikir and I'm using it as my background right now. Despite all its faults, the Bionicle web team at least knows what to provide! -NotS
  14. This is truly astonishing. We didn't get this kind of stuff in G1 and I'm really grateful for it in G2. The art looks astounding. Matt Betteker is a fantastic concept artist. -NotS
  15. Hmmm, I dunno. I loved the island to death, but I feel like things would have gotten a little stale after 3 years on it. The ending of Mask of Light was a great place to cap the story, if they decided not to go further with it. I would have liked to see new technologies introduced on the island to accommodate the villagers and the constant stream of threats though, that would have been able to keep it fresh. -NotS
  16. Since we had Matoran like Takua on Mata Nui (granted, that one was explained) it wouldn't be far out there to say some inhabitants of the island were displaced from other tribes as well. Tamaru could be one. I guess that's open for interpretation currently, but its not like it contradicts anything in the canon. -NotS
  17. Wooh some harsh thoughts here. In my opinion (and as much as I like G2) it is not trying to forge a unique theme for itself or embracing the old G1 themes in a meaningful way. I can see the repetition of Unity, Duty and Destiny, but its not done in a way that feels cohesive. It feels more like a setpiece after setpiece type story where the themes are thrown in to make it seem somewhat more than just mindless action, but instead comes off as cheap and preachy. Not to say G1 didn't have moments like this, but there has been yet to be a moment in G2 where I actually feel like the central theme is natural and the story is built around it. Maybe that's why it feels like there is no theme" as the topic starter states. That being said, Pohatu's side-plot in Journey to One was a pretty good step in the right direction, and G2 is still in its early stages, so who knows what the future will bring? -NotS
  18. My brother apparently got Lewa and Uxar as well as Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder so I am excited to see those when I meet up with him again. Also that comic from a few pages back is so bad. I mean I like the art, but dang that dialogue. Glad to see that some things in the LEGO mag never change. -NotS
  19. This is awesome! Do you think it would be possible to restore other iterations of the site as well? -NotS
  20. This is great. I really can't wait to hear what they have to say. -NotS
  21. Big open-world action RPG. Or a straight-up hack'n'slash game. -NotS
  22. Thank you for the kind words. I agree - through art, fan-fics, fan videos, etc. we are showing LEGO that we care about G2. And (this is the same for a lot of fanbases) I honestly don't think the general consensus of G2 is "we all hate it". People who are satisfied tend to speak less than those who are infuriated. The vocal minority is negative. The rest of us are either content or pleased enough to not make a fuss over it. So I think these discussions, along with the artwork, mocing scene among others are indicators of our feelings towards G2. We shoudn't focus on changing the minds of others who think otherwise, but if someone new to the franchise was to express interest in G2, I think most of us would say "go for it". And I mean, at the end of the day, sales talk the biggest. If we keep supporting LEGO by buying the sets, we are already doing our part. The rest of it just goes above and beyond. -NotS
  23. This is actually very cool. Being a new media major, I find it fascinating to see how this kind of promo artwork is made. This keyart for Journey to One is just phenomenal. It looks very epic, and is composed very well. I also appreciate that we get an ultra high-resolution version. I love it. Would love to have this hang along with the rest of my Bionicle movie posters. -NotS
  24. Reiterating what others have said, its interesting that Okotans built the maze. Other than that, not much else new. I guess that's just what happens when you relegate story to a TV show. Great high-res images of Umarak though! -NotS
