Qwerty's secret to enjoying games:
DON'T FOLLOW THE HYPE! It's that simple! Everyone considered Fable and Fable 2 to be huge disappointments because they were following the hype! Peter Molyneux saying the game will do this and that, and when the game didn't live up to the astronomical hype, they got all angry! Obviously do your research on whether a game is actually good or not, but one of the reasons people are saying Fable 2 wasn't good is because of all the hype that surrounded it's release. The hype has one purpose: get people excited about the game, and get them to buy it (okay, maybe 2 purposes). Now, look at me. I didn't follow any of the hype over Fable 2, and when I bought it, I loved it! Still do, it's been one of my most played games, and one of the most returned to (after Halo 3). I enjoy it not as an action RPG where your actions have far reaching consequences, but as a fun world where you actually feel immersed. I can spend hours playing the game, even long after finishing it, just watching the social interactions. Just try it, as an experiment, next time you hear about a game. Don't follow the hype. Consciously avoid anything to do with the game until it's released. Read an unbiased review that reviews the game on what it IS, not on what it COULD/SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Rent/buy it, depending on your reaction to the review you read. Give your game experience a rating of 1-5 stars. Now, go to amazon or somewhere, and look at the reviews. Compare those reviews to your score. Chances are, you enjoyed the game more than they did. Just try it, especially with a game that seems to be having a huge amount of hype surrounding it's release.
