DATE (7/19/14): This year marks my 10th anniversary on Bzpower! Man, how time flies…

A little about me. I love Bionicle. It is not just an interest, it is a passion. I mean, Bionicle was such important part of my childhood, not just in the actual Lego products, but in the wonderful community I was lucky enough to run into here on BZPower.

The website also helped spur a love for comic-making, which served as an outlet of sorts for my imagination and creative spirit during my short run as a comic-maker. Over the years I found other outlets (such as music, which I'll get into later). But that passion has also not gone away. Ever since I closed my first (and only) comic series back in 2005, I've made a promise to myself that I would bring them back one day. I’m not sure how likely that is to happen as the reboot I started working on around late 2010 was kinda placed on the backburner. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll come back to it...

My other passions? Well I have another intense love for video games. I follow gaming news extensively and love all other video-game related media, be it comics, music, art or magazine. I really enjoy almost anything video game-related!

Finally, let's talk music. To me, music is everything. Without music, what is the point of life?

I enjoy almost all genres. I play the guitar, both acoustic and electric and the alto saxophone. I eat up anything related to music recording, studio work, recording technology, and all that jazz (speaking of which, I absolutely love jazz!).

A selection of some of favorite artists: So Much Light, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, The Speed of Sound in Seawater, Ttng, Feed Me Jack, The Beatles, Kimbra, Maps and Atlases, Koji Kondo, Zelliack, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Andy Timmons...

    That's all for now, folks!

    ~LH

  1. I, too, enjoy a train every once in a while
  2. Just found this mother lode of a thread and, I have to say, this has left me speechless. You have done a great service to this entire community and to every current (and future) Bionicle fan out there, TuragaNuva! Thank you so much. I am saving this for a binge-read when I have more time and am quite looking forward to it. I can't even imagine how much work and time went into this, but I think it was well worth it! haha All the best!
  3. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Such great news! Six-year-old me is hopping with joy as 19-year-old me lets a small tear roll down his cheek...sniff...it's just dust, is all, I swear...
  4. Beautiful art from Christian Faber, as is to be expected! Although all signs point to the contrary, I really hope he is involved with the Bionicle relaunch in (at least) some small, official way.
  5. This is kind of a touchy subject, especially since we have no way of knowing if Bionicle is coming back next year, if at all. But I do agree with almost everyone that's commented on this topic. Personally, I think a new storyline set many years after the end of the storyline as we know it would be best. It would allow the new people working on the theme, and fans old and new, to get a fresh perspective on the series and get away from the confusing, muddled arcs that sprouted up near the end, while working off the main pillars that characterize it. If not, a decent clean-up is in order. Lego will have to tie up, clarify, or summarize the many events the rocked the Bionicle universe in just ten years. I imagine it'll be like entering a mess of a room, evidence left behind after a quick exit: chairs overturned; papers and general clutter strewn around; a few stubborn cobwebs; and a fine layer of dust concealing its true nature. The room was all but abandoned by Lego, and loyal fans like those of us at BZPower couldn't bear to leave it behind it. We've tried to keep the room as orderly as possible, but some messes are just too big to handle alone. And some stains can only be removed by the creators themselves. I don't know if Farshtey is the man to do it. Maybe it's best they keep him on as a consultant or something, and bring in some fresh faces to work on the story. But I digress. Whatever happens, I hope that BZPower stays the same, continuing to be the welcoming and generous community it is. New fans should be welcomed as every fan was. Why should anything change? At its core, the site should be the same as it was when it started.
  6. Ehhh I've got a bad feeling about this reboot...but the Lego sets will surely be fantastic. And I actually just realized that the Chris Pratt from The Lego Movie is the same Chris Pratt that plays Star-Lord...
  7. We should be able to get some playing done during these last days of the Beta, then...we wait till September. :3
  8. Funny how the first post in this topic also involves LCD Soundsystem! hahaha On the musical instrument/accessories side of things: Fresh reeds for my sax, new Dunlop Jazz III guitar picks (my favorites), some mouthpiece guards, and a new Charlie Parker sheet music book, as if the omnibook wasn't enough. And my most recent recording purchase was about a month ago, actually, getting Kimbra's new record The Golden Echo on vinyl. Comes out in August! ~LH
  9. Hmm you could say it is a cross between those other franchises. Taken from its Wikipedia entry: Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. In a universe where humans have spread out and colonized planets in the Solar System, an event known as "the Collapse" saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by "the Traveller", a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars. The Traveller now hovers above the last remaining human city, and its presence allows the "Guardians of the City"—the last defenders of the human race—the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as "The Light". Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilizations and are now encroaching upon the City. The player takes on the role of a Guardian of the City, and is tasked with reviving the Traveller while investigating and destroying the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out.
  10. Great job! That first pose is almost a dead ringer for the early 2001 promo art. At least, from what I remember ~LH
