  1. IC Kilo-M9: Progress on wall carving translation is being delayed. Carvings do not seem to match letters. Might be art rather than writing. Cancelling translation procedure. Puzzle has been solved. Unknown voice detected. Choice of vocabulary indicates artificial intelligence or organic pretending to be an artificial intelligence. Progress can be made, but questions still unasked. Solution: walk and talk. The former archives denizen looked up from its work on the wall carvings as the puzzle wall opened into an inviting doorway. As the group began to make their way deeper into the ruins, the machine vocalized some questions it had for the voice calling itself Administrator. “Multiple queries: When was this temple constructed relative to present time? Why do you require our names? What is contained within these ruins? This first puzzle required knowledge of matoran culture. Was it designed to keep out non-matoran? What is the meaning of the wall carvings in the first chamber? Other ruins around the island have been reported. Are there administrators for those ruins, and if so are they separate entities or do you act as administrator for all ruins? What is the purpose of the gong on top of this ruin’s outer structure?” OOC: @Vezok's Friend@~Xemnas~@Tarn@Onaku@Snelly@Harvali
  2. IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda II: Ysocla listened intently as Yumiwak described the history of what they called Zakaz. To imagine a shift in climate so drastic happening was disturbing to say the least. The idea of something more devastating than an inexplicable metal head falling from the heavens was equally ludicrous and horrific. Evidently this island was a magnet for catastrophe. The mechanic took all these thoughts in to try to process them. There was plenty of evidence that such a world shattering event could happen once again, but she had to believe that things could be made better. If personal experiences hadn’t managed to shake her conviction to better the world, she wasn’t about to let ancient and last week’s historical calamities bring her down either. “If whoever killed the world returns, we’ll just have to show them that actions have consequences,” she said, nodding to herself in determination. “Until then, we’ll just need to keep working to make the world we have a better one. Who knows, maybe we’ll find a way to bring back the splendor of the world your ancestors talk about someday.” Ysocla let her words sit for a moment. They couldn’t really be backed up presently in any concrete way, but the mindset behind them wasn’t invalid. “For now though it’s probably best to focus on the present, starting with this mission,” the violet skakdi continued, pushing off the railing back to a standing position. “With your permission, I’d like to accompany you and the others when you go to capture this warrior. An extra pair of hands can’t hurt, and if we bring the bike we’ll have the advantage if they try to run from us.” OOC: @EmperorWhenua
  3. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruins of stone: Symbols unfamiliar. Translation required. No symbols found on rocks in pool. Solution not currently available. Additional examination of ruin is required. Current objective: Translate unknown language. Allies can continue looking for clues. “Affirmative,” the machine replied to Atamai. “This unit can store language data once translation is complete. Working together should make translation process quick to complete. Other allies should search for additional clues. This unit suggests searching ground under rock pool. If nothing is found, experiment with pedestal.” It turned back to the wall to begin translating the unfamiliar language. OOC: @Tarn@~Xemnas~@Snelly@Harvali@Onaku@Vezok's Friend
  4. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruins of Stone: Running ProblemSolve.exe V2.0 Problem = Door deeper into ruins is shut. No obvious signs of weakness. Observations: Walls of ruin have unknown carvings. Stone bowl likely main point of interaction with door. Large pool of rocks on floor. Larger pieces of slate present among gravel pool. Matoran writing on far wall. Atmosphere changed upon entering room. Ally Atamai’s thought process about far wall writing is logically sound. Clues likely relate to Po-matoran principles. Additional action is needed to translate answers into successful inputs. Accessing matoran cultural records... “Ally Atamai likely has correct logic,” the machine spoke, having stood silent in thought for a couple seconds. “Records indicate there are specific symbols used in matoran culture to represent principles. This unit will examine walls for appropriate symbols. Other allies should examine rocks on floor for symbols and examine podium.” So saying, the mechanical enforcer began to carefully look over the wall carvings, first to see what was there, but then to filter any known symbols, followed by looking for symbols related to unity, strategy, and creation. OOC: @~Xemnas~@Vezok's Friend@Snelly@Harvali@Tarn@Onaku
  5. IC Kilo-M9 - In transit: The machine stood on the back of the large 4-wheeled vehicle, announcing directions to it its allies to guide it to what would be the Po-metru disc location like a large heavily-armed GPS. With any luck and the knowledge they had obtained the group would make it to their destination without issue. OOC: @Snelly@Tarn@Onaku@~Xemnas~@Harvali IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda II: Noticing the intense stare her liege was displaying, Ysocla followed her gaze out towards the giant head, the structure blocking out a large portion of the horizon. Not wanting to feed the raging fire brewing in Yumiwak, she elected to engage with the words spoken rather than the action taken. “In a society that’s existed for so long with multiple bands of people in conflict, it’s not a stretch to think there might have been some changes in the land’s structure,” she surmised. “That’s especially the case for a society where the different bands have Tahtorak in their possession.” The indigo skakdi shuffled her position on the railing, facing a bit more towards Yumiwak. “I will admit I’m not much of an expert on our history; it wasn’t really a subject my parents elected to teach me. The closest thing to history I learned was the occasional fable and some tales of those who came before us skakdi.” Ysocla’s usual frown became more pronounced at the mention of her parents, but she maintained her pleasant conversational tone. “How do your ancestors describe this island? I’m curious as to how it’s changed since their time.” OOC: @EmperorWhenua
  6. IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda II: Once the Panda had finished taking off, Ysocla finally had a moment of respite from her duties. She noticed Lady Yumiwak gazing at the sights below and slowly hobbled over, propping her cane up against the railing before resting her arms on it. The two stood in silence a moment taking in the view before Ysocla spoke. “I have to admit, when you can’t see the people who live here this island sure is lovely,” she observed. “Being able to see things from this high up helps put things into perspective.” OOC: @EmperorWhenua IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined Fortress: Purpose of funeral still unknown. Corpses still have no meaning. Process is inefficient. Allies are wasting time. Allies unlikely to deviate from current actions. Intervening will damage group dynamics. Solution: engage in other productive activities. While the rest of the group prepared for the impromptu funeral, their mechanical companion busied itself examining the vehicles the group had discovered, testing if they were functional and had fuel. OOC: @Snelly@Harvali@~Xemnas~@Onaku@Tarn
  7. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined Fortress: Weapons discovered. Detecting increased enthusiasm from Companion Collector. Handling unknown weapons without caution could result in misfire. New sub-objective: Inform Collector of proper weapon handling practices in future. Assisting with clearing rubble. Searching for useful items... The mechanical enforcer was silent as the group entered the fortress. It observed the discovery of the first body and assisted the group in clearing the path to further rooms. It had no use for weapons, and the debate on what to do with the corpses was irrelevant to it. “Debate on corpses is confusing,” it stated. “If a machine breaks down you replace it, try to repair it, or take what parts are still working and recycle them for something useful. Skakdi corpses have been dead for a week, with only their weapons and vehicles as functional parts remaining. Taking their equipment is most logical decision. As for bodies, they are irrelevant to our mission.” With the pathway now clear the machine set out looking for other items of interest. Discovering what appeared to be a meeting room of sorts, the robotic protector started sifting through the remains of a stack of documents. The writing on most had been worn away or smudged into illegibility. Soon enough though, it managed to find a useful item in the form of a rough map of the region with a number of safe roads listed. Scanning map data. Adding to existing records. Overlaying Metru Nui map with new region information. Adjusting for scale. Determining relative location of Po-metru disc puzzle. Calculating safest route. Returning to the group, new map in hand, the former law enforcer found the group still talking about dead bodies. “This unit has found map of local region,” it announced, holding up the map. “Safest route to location that matches Po-metru disc location has been calculated. This unit can ride on back of larger new vehicle. Other three group members without vehicles can drive them.” OOC: @Snelly@~Xemnas~@Harvali@Onaku@Tarn IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda II: Ysocla watched the display between Zai and Yumiwak with a bit of disdain, though she had to admire that Zai was willing to go after the unknown warrior alone. Even if it was being done out of a desire to improve her standing among Lady Yumiwak’s followers, it took some degree of confidence and responsibility to take on such a challenge without assistance. As a bonus, Zai getting first shot meant that Ysocla would have new intel on what the warrior was capable of. She’d be able to use that knowledge to take on the warrior herself if it came to that. OOC: @EmperorWhenua@Tarn@Dane-gerous
  8. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined Fort: Ally Jutori approaching. Preparing detailed incident report. “No sightings of enemies,” the machine stated. “Only major occurrence: teambuilding conversations. This unit is ready to depart when group is ready.” Psychological issues detected in companions Zadred and Collector. Will need to be resolved to improve group effectiveness. Observations indicate companion Zadred feels isolation in wake of arrival on Zakaz. Loss of friends and near-extinction of species feeds those feelings. Potential solution: Encourage group interaction. While allies are not skakdi, friendly interpersonal connections may replicate lost relationships. Ally Vashni likely best choice. Past experience indicates she is best of allies at connecting with others. Will bring up topic when possible. Companion Collector appears to resent vortixx species. Apathy towards prior universe has been displayed. Interest in elemental powers has been brought up, along with odd behavior towards toa. Additional observation is required before action may be taken. OOC: @Snelly@Tarn@~Xemnas~@Harvali@Onaku IC Ysocla Naenoic - Tactical Panda II: The indigo skakdi drummed on the tip of her cane as she looked over the map. If this warrior is as strong as they say, it’s going to be a hassle capturing them, she thought. With Lady Yumiwak’s... strong personality, I don’t know if they’ll come willingly. “Lady Yumiwak,” she began, “Do we have any plan to capture said warrior once we’ve located them?” OOC: @EmperorWhenua@Dane-gerous@Tarn
  9. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined Fort: Continuing to scan for hostiles. No hostiles detected. “This unit has never left Metru Nui before now,” the machine replied. “Some Kralhi units escaped across silver sea after the Betrayal. Status unknown. Significant chance this unit is last operational kralhi in the universe.” OOC: @Onaku
  10. IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda: Emerging from below deck the sudden onset of a new smell hit Ysocla like a brick wall. The rancid stench was contaminating the air on the ship with its repulsive fumes. She gagged from reflex, panning her eyes to look for the offending person or item. While she wouldn’t necessarily give either of her fellow crew members high marks for hygiene, they didn’t appear to be the source of the olfactory assault. A sudden idea popped into her head and she turned her gaze onto the new cargo crate. Before her eyes the side of the wall faded from view allowing her to identify the furs within. “Those furs have better not be staying here for long,” she declared, attempting to breathe through her mouth as much as possible. OOC: @Tarn@Dane-gerous@EmperorWhenua IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined Fort: Companion Zadred is opening communications. Rerouting processing power to speech functions. Forming verbal reply. “Affirmative,” the machine confirmed. “This unit is a Kralhi-Type Citizen Pacification Unit. Primary functions included protecting citizens and returning wayward individuals to designated work functions.” The mechanical enforcer paused briefly before adding, “Primary functions have been adjusted due to current situation.” The machine took a brief glance at Zadred before saying, “Companion Zadred does not appear in citizen records. Were you originally from Zakaz in prior universe?” OOC: @Onaku
  11. IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda: “The target must be inland. Interesting,” the engineer replied. Any further discussion was interrupted by the arrival of Korio. She gave him a curt nod of acknowledgement. “Korio,” she greeted. “I’m just on my way to start up the flight engine. Seems we’re off on another trip. Make sure to get that crate secured before we take off. Wouldn’t be good if it fell overboard during transit.” Excusing herself from the conversation, Ysocla briskly hobbled her way down the stairs to the lower decks. In earlier days she would have jumped over the railing to speed up travel. Unfortunately her current condition didn’t allow such thrills. Not that it had stopped her from trying shortly after her injury, but a couple hours clutching her leg in agony unable to move at all had taught her better. At least she could still take steps two at a time. Below-decks Ysocla found the flight engine next to the main water jets. It truly was a marvel of engineering; even with her mechanical knowledge and x-ray vision the device was still a mystery to her. Fortunately she had been instructed on the operation of the engine enough times that the multiple steps had been committed to memory. The indigo skakdi began flipping switches on, adjusting levers, examining gauges. Various mechanisms began to pulse and hum, green lights glowed on the main control panel. With everything in place and operating within safe limits, the big main button on the panel lit up with green light. Ysocla gave it a firm press and the mixture of mechanical noises filling the room was replaced by the characteristic quiet hum of the Panda’s flight engine. The engineer flipped the big switch on the ceiling from “Sea” to “Air” to swap over primary propulsion controls to finish the process. Taking a moment to swap her work arpon with her duster hanging on the wall next to the engine room door, she hobbled back above-decks. “When everyone’s ready to go, we’re ready to fly,” she announced to everyone on board. OOC: @Dane-gerous@Tarn@EmperorWhenua
  12. IC Ysocla - Tactical Panda II: All in all, today was going well. At the helm of the Tactical Panda II, Ysocla was hard at work. She fiddled with the control belt below the ship’s wheel, the detached access panel beside her. With her leg in the state it was, the only way to get proper access was to lay on her side. Just another reality of being crippled. A series of bolt fittings later and the project was complete. She had tightened up the turning controls to let the Panda be more responsive. It wasn’t anything ground-breaking, but it would improve the driving experience a bit. The indigo skakdi leaned back to get a good view of her work. Nodding in approval of the results she lowered the tinted visor over her eyes and drew her welding laser. Ever since winning it in a duel she had kept it with her at all times, always working to improve it. It was probably the closest thing she had to a friend. A couple welds here and there and the access panel had been reattached, the new welds already beginning to cool and settle. A new set of footsteps on the ship’s deck alerted her to a new presence onboard. Raising the visor back up to her forehead, she scanned the deck only to see Zai working her way towards her. Ysocla always found her and Korio’s dynamic to be odd, though not surprising based on skakdi culture. They were both incredibly dedicated to Lady Yumiwak yet were constantly trying to one-up each other for favor. Just seemed inefficient. You’re both dedicated to her, why do you have to keep sabotaging each other? Just be allies! Selfish ambition was the nature of skakdi, she supposed. She had no time for such things. This particular moment the crimson skakdi didn’t look particularly happy or sad as she marched across the decks. Ysocla grabbed the cane resting next to her and used it to push her up into a standing position to greet her fellow crew member. “I take it from your lack of smiles that you didn’t manage to off Korio this time?” she surmised. “You don’t look sad either, so the mission must have been some sort of success.” OOC: @Tarn@Dane-gerous@EmperorWhenua
  13. @Unreliable Narrator Yeah, her x-ray vision is the usual, seeing through the lies is just a star wars reference. I've clarified the powers accordingly. Is the crack of thunder during teleportation okay? I want it for style rather than combat applications, it's not a big thunder boom by any means.
  14. IC Kilo-M9 - Ruined fortress: Additional eyes are not required. This unit can handle entire night shift. More eyes do not hinder guarding area. If allies wish to assist, this unit will allow them to. Area is somewhat defensible. Proximity to silver sea is dangerous. Undead may attack. Raising concerns. “This unit can remain active throughout night shift,” the machine announced before turning to Zadred. “Inform this unit what time you want to be awoken.” Taking a quick look to survey the sea they were next too, the mechanical enforcer continued. “After securing fortress ensure camp is set up out of view of the sea. Undead present in it. Attention is not desired.” OOC: @~Xemnas~@Tarn@Onaku@Snelly@Harvali
  15. Name: Ysocla Naenoic Breed: Zakazian Skakdi of Lightning Faction: Riggers nominally, Yumiwak’s warband in practice Brief Description: Ysocla’s body is primarily a blue-violet color, with reddish purple accents on some of her limb armor. Around her heartlight there is a circle of white lines that glow. Those glowing lines extend from the circle across her body. Two parallel lines extend down her torso to her hips, where the lines become circles wrapping around the top of her legs. From the circles, two parallel lines on either side of her leg reach down to her ankles where they end in another circle. A similar pattern occurs on her arms. On her face, the lines split into four, two running along her cheeks towards her ears, the other two moving past her nose to wrap around her eyes and go farther along her scalp. Tron lines basically. She wears a tinted visor which can be moved over her eyes to protect them while doing everyday work. She also has a full facemask for more intense welding. When not wearing a blacksmith apron she can often be seen wearing a full length duster which helps cover the glowing lines on her body. On her left leg is a metal cast that keeps the shattered limb in place. Around her waist is her trusty tool belt, carrying various screws, nails, and wrenches as well as a hammer and a holster for her welding laser. Her trusty cane-sword is always nearby. She has bright blue eyes and never smiles. Background/Occupation: Ysocla was part of a normal family of skakdi on Zakaz. Her parents were members of the Riggers, and tried to teach her early on the ways of being a pirate. Whether through a sense of decency or a desire to stand out, she struggled with the concepts of living on Zakaz. Vague stories around town mentioned the people that occupied the land before skakdi, a population lead by idealistic heroes with a code of honor. Despite those stories always being told in jest, Ysocla was enraptured by the idea of unselfish people who held themselves to a higher standard of behavior. She soon started trying to live by a code of honor, a move that immediately put her at odds with her family. After her parents perished in a house fire Ysocla was free to live her life her way, though it did leave her without a place to live. Living on the streets she refused to turn to theft, instead taking what odd jobs she could. Those jobs, as well as her prior Riggers training, gave her knowledge and experience to deal with machines of various sorts. During one of those days she found herself in yet another duel in a series of fights. During this one in particular, her opponent had their friends sneak attack her from behind, restraining her while the group shattered her legs in multiple places. They told her that it was a lesson, to start acting like a skakdi. While some would have taken the trauma to heart and changed their ways, the lesson Ysocla took was that skakdi society was irredeemable. The current way of things had to be overthrown. With only one good leg to stand on, there wasn’t much she could do alone. Allies were required. One fateful day while wandering between jobs, Ysocla spied a particular skakdi. This one carried herself with a unique regality, a confidence that few others possessed. Intrigued by her independence, Ysocla trailed the skakdi and her followers as they went about their business. As she was about to approach and engage the skakdi in conversation, she spotted a conspicuous mugger about to make his move. Ysocla loudly put a stop to his ambitions before he could strike, attracting the notice of the mysterious skakdi. Introducing herself as Yumiwak, she explained to Ysocla her history and goals of restoring her clan. Sensing that this skakdi might one day help her change society, Ysocla swore fealty to Yumiwak and requested that she take her on as a member of her crew. A position of engineer was open on the Tactical Panda II, and her mechanical experience made her a natural fit. Since then she has been a member of Yumiwak’s crew. While she sometimes accompanies her liege on missions, her tendency to defend her honor and occasional refusal to complete tasks that conflict with her nature leads to her sometimes being left behind to work on the ship. Personality: Ysocla is very serious most of the time. She tries to have a professional air as much as possible, and holds herself to high standards. The code of honor she follows is a personal one, as she knows that others will not change their ways so easily. She will not join fights that would give her side a numerical advantage unless the opponents have shown that they are truly dangerous, she does not use dirty tricks or sneak attacks when fighting. While she has learned the hard way many times that her methods leave her vulnerable she does not stray, refusing to let setbacks ruin her resolve. She’s more comfortable with machines than people, as machines are upfront with their intentions. She does not smile. Equipment/Traits: She is adept with machines, her vision power giving her the ability to more easily identify issues. She carries various tools including a larger wrench that can double as a blunt weapon. On her belt is a heatstone-powered welding laser. Variable settings enable it to both weld and act as a laser cutter, and the heat and light make it a decent emergency weapon. Her primary weapon is a cane-sword, a combination walking stick and self-defense tool. Her fighting style has been adjusted since her leg was broken. Where once she used quick strikes and a flurry of offense she now uses a more defensive style that requires less movement, waiting for attacks and taking advantage, with the occasional use of her teleport to give her unexpected reach. Primary Power: X-ray vision (to see through the lies of the skakdi. But not really, it's just normal x-ray vision) Secondary Power: A short range teleport to n area she can see, her movement path is marked by a brief trail of lightning leading to where she arrives, and a crack of thunder where she previously was. Using this ability drains her elemental reserves, which can lead to her exhausting herself through rapid use. Functions like the Misty Step spell from D&D 5th Edition. Breed quirk: Suppressed elemental powers over lightning that must be used in conjunction with another skakdi. Psychological issue they struggle with: Her code of honor leaves her easy to take advantage of, whether goading her into a fight or making her vulnerable to dirty tactics. She puts herself into sub-optimal situations through her own stubborn adherence to her code. Physical limitation: Her left leg is shattered, only really movable at the hip. This limits her speed greatly and attacks against her leg result in increased pain. Justice Justice is a motorcycle that Ysocla uses to get around the wasteland, especially after her leg was broken. It’s a standard cruiser style of bike, black in color with white accent lines similar to the ones on Ysocla’s body. On either side of the bike the word “Justice” is printed. Also on the sides as well as on the front the symbol of Yumiwak’s clan is emblazoned so that would-be thiefs know who they’re stealing from. A sidecar with a similar appearance can be attached for carrying cargo or if Yumiwak doesn’t feel like walking places. Most others are not allowed to ride in it without permission.
  16. IC Kilo-M9 - North, in the wilderness: Environmental mapping in progress. Constructing partial map of island. Comparing to map of Metru Nui. Overlaying maps. While the rest of the group exchanged stories of their adventures during their first week on the island that had become their home, the mechanical enforcer was processing data. Before the group had set out on their latest adventure, the machine had completed its nightly patrol before reporting its departure to the higher ups in the village defense staff. The guard staff would need to know to fill the gap in the night patrols while the machine was away. There were no supplies that needed to be gathered, so the machine took some time to scan all existing maps the Metru Koro scouts had created in the first week. On the day’s trip those maps would be combined with each other as well as the existing data that had been collected during the evacuation in order to create an overall map of the island. Once the group had a more complete picture of the new locale it would be easier to locate the temples. Occasionally one of the group would ask a question to the steel sentinel. The answers that were returned were brief but efficient in conveying information. The machine had been guarding the matoran all week. Nothing more, nothing less. The only questions asked in return were about the capabilities of the Odd Company’s newest companions. It was important for each group member to know the capabilities of the people they would be relying on. If Collector’s odd behavior bothered the machine, there were no signs to be observed. Structure found. Extensive damage observed. No immediate resemblance to known architectural styles. Corpse detected. Skakdi, red coloration, deceased. Time of death: recent. Further analysis required. Scanning body for cause of death, relative time of death, notable features or markings... Increasing gain of audio receptors. Expanding range of checked sounds. Scanning for audio signals. Analyzing companion capabilities. Assigning primary search roles accordingly... “This unit will investigate body,” the machine’s voice declared, quieter than usual. It had its blades out and tail raised, ready to attack any intruders. “Additionally, scanning incoming audio for hostiles. Ally Vashni, search for nearby organic signals. Companion Zadred, scan for entities and tracks in surrounding area. Others, maintain quiet, prepare for possible hostiles. This area may not be secure.” OOC: @Tarn@Snelly@Onaku@~Xemnas~@Harvali@Unreliable Narrator
  17. IC Kilo-M9 - Metru Koro: “Temple to the north? This unit lacks context. Clarification requested,” the machine stated. Having entered the conversation late, the mechanical enforcer had no idea what was actually going on. OOC: @~Xemnas~@Snelly@Tarn@Onaku@Harvali
  18. IC Kilo-M9 - Metru koro: “This unit has been guarding the village,” the machine replied. Scanning for threats... No threats detected. “Village is currently safe,” it announced. OOC: @~Xemnas~@Snelly@Onaku@Tarn@Harvali
  19. IC Kilo-M9 - Metru-koro: Beginning night patrol. Scanning for threats... No threats detected. Commencing interior scan of village. Allies detected: Vashni, Jutori, Atamai. This unit will investigate. Preparing greeting protocols. As the machine began its nightly patrol of the ramshackle village, it soon spotted the gathering of former allies conversing from its location atop the perimeter wall. Continuing along its normal patrol path, the mechanical enforcer eventually reached their location. “Greetings allies Vashni, Jutori, Atamai,” the machine’s familiar jumble of voices said. “It has been 8 days since you and this unit were gathered in the same location.” OOC: @~Xemnas~@Snelly@Tarn@Onaku@Harvali
  20. IC Kilo-M9 - Metru-koro: Scanning for threats... No threats detected. Beginning night patrol in 2.6 hours. Atop the main wall of Metru-Koro, a metal guardian stood alone, staring out across the wasteland of Zakaz. By now the single sun was beginning to set, casting an orange glow upon the dusty expanse. For the machine known to most as Kilo-M9, it was the latest in a series of identical days. For the past few days, the mechanical enforcer had been acting as a guard for the newly-constructed Metru-Koro. After escaping the archives with Nale and Arkius the trio had found what shelter they could from their universe’s rocky arrival on Zakaz. Joining the exodus of former Metru Nui citizens was deemed to be the logical choice for the trio, leading them to assist with bringing supplies into the wasteland that was their new home. It was in those salvaging runs that the machine had obtained the new solar panel that was now mounted on its back. After all, there wasn’t going to be power where the refugees set up civilization, and the area near the fallen head was too dangerous to stay near when low on energy. When setting up the foundations of what would be the new village, some of the refugees had expressed concern at their new robotic companion. After living under the Vahki for so long, some citizens were less than thrilled about having another robot overseeing them, let alone an obsolete model that had rebelled against the cities attempt to destroy it. The positive testimony of its former companions and the obvious strength at moving objects and willingness to help started to turn public opinion to something that might eventually be positive. With the initial construction complete, it was logical for the former law enforcer to take up a position in the villages rudimentary guard forces. The machine’s abilities and lack of boredom or tiredness made it ideal for the role. Now, it would soon be time for the machine to leave its stationary guard post and begin patrolling the boundary of the makeshift town, as it had done the last few days. The solar panel meant that it could be always active in some way, though it also meant that the guardian had not entered sleep mode since before the cataclysm. Scanning for threats... No threats detected. Beginning night patrol in 2.5 hours. OOC: @~Xemnas~@Snelly@Tarn Feel free to come recruit Kilo for the treasure hunt.
  21. Name: Citizen Pacification Unit K1R1 Kilo-M9 Species: Kralhi Faction: Metru-Nui Refugees Brief Description: Kilo-M9 is a standard Kralhi in shape and size, a scorpion-like mechanical creation about the size of three Toa clumped together. It has four legs which are able to grip all manner of surfaces and two arms that are usually holding its tools, two wide curved blades for defending itself and the city’s citizens and for guiding and encouraging wayward Matoran back to their workstations. On its rear there is a prehensile tail with two prongs for emitting energy bubbles. Its forelegs and head are metro green, with the rest of its body and limbs being black for camouflage in its home metro. Both of its front legs have noticeable scars and chipping from lack of maintenance and there is a large running diagonally down its face. Side compartments on the main body contain a store of Kanoka discs. It has green eyes during normal operations but will switch to a red-orange color during combat situations or dim them entirely for stealth. On its face is a permanent expression of determined authority which can come across as more terrifying than intended. The joint where its front left leg meets the body appears newer than the rest of its form, as it was recently repaired in the archives battle against the barraki. A number of new scratches and gouges have appeared since its lonely days in the archives. A rudimentary solar panel, the one item it grabbed during the sudden evacuation of the GSR’s head, is mounted on its back in order to generate power now that the power plant in Metru Nui is inaccessible. Background/Occupation: Kilo-M9 is but one of many Kralhi that were created by Nuparu as a predecessor to the Vahki. This particular unit was assigned to the Onu-Metru region, warding overly curious tourists and archivists away from restricted zones and assisting with the often frequent break-out attempts by the exhibits. Unfortunately, the Kralhi’s method of enforcing order by draining the energy of troublemakers was deemed an issue as the affected individuals were too dizzy or exhausted to work for a while after an encounter with the law. Turage Dume commissioned the Vahki as replacements and ordered the Kralhi’s destruction, but the machines would not go quietly. Many rebelled against their fate and were forced out of the city. Others took up hiding in the various Metru. Kilo-M9 is one such unit. After fighting off several attempts at deactivation by Vahki squads the battered law enforcer took up residence in the deeper sections of the archives. The network of tunnels provided ample space to hide and make repairs. Despite its isolation and betrayal, the unit is still given purpose by the same primary objectives: 1. Preserve this unit at all costs 2. Bring efficiency to the city 3. Protect and serve the Matoran Despite the necessity of staying hidden lest the Vahki resume attacking it, Kilo M9 has mostly resumed its primary duties patrolling the sublevels of the Archives, assisting individuals out of the restricted areas whether they want to or not. Shortly after Turaga Dume’s announcement to search for the great discs, Kilo-M9 encountered a wandering band of disc hunters in the archives. After a brief altercation the machine joined them on their quest, leading it around the city. Eventually the mechanical enforcer found its way back to the archives, where it killed the warlord Mantax and his men with help from other allies. Upon escaping the archives, the end of the universe occurred. Nowadays, Kilo-M9 is residing in the newly created city of Metru-koro. After an adjustment period, Kilo has taken up a role in patrolling around the city or taking watch on the wall for incoming threats. That’s about all its programming is telling it to do at this time. Flaws: Kralhi are able to analyze opponents and devise plans to deal with them based on their abilities and traits. However, the machines are limited in their ability to think on the fly, and quick improvisation can trip them up. Kilo-M9 is limited by its primary objectives and will follow them at all costs. It will not take violent action against Metru-Nui citizens unless hostile action is taken against it or there are conflicts with objectives 1 and 2. Kilo-M9 also cannot swim and will avoid having to submerge its body whenever possible. Powers: Kralhi have strong mechanical joints making it somewhat stronger than the average Toa. It is able to climbs on walls and cling to ceilings with its clawed feet and can remain still and silent for long periods of time, making it surprisingly good at hiding. It is programmed to be skilled at hand to hand combat with its blades, and while it has primarily fought Rahi it is no stranger to having to engage in battle with the more sentient creatures of Metru-Nui. Its signature weapon is the energy bubble generator in its tail. The tail launches bolts of energy that when striking a target encases it in a bubble which lifts into the air and begins draining their energy into the Kralhi. Said bubbles can drain energy at a fast enough rate to knock out an unsuspecting Matoran or exhausted Toa within minutes. The bubbles are difficult to break out of from the inside and do not burst upon contact with walls or ceilings. Direct force needs to be applied to escape. Kilo-M9 also carries on its person a selection of Kanoka discs, usually 3 weaken discs and 3 regeneration discs of various power levels which it uses against opponents in combat and for field repairs, respectively. It acquires these from individuals it helps and from hunting stray Vahki units that wander into its jurisdiction. Finally, Kilo-M9 features a voice recording functionality which enables it to play back any words or phrases it hears. While it can speak Matoran freely at ultrasonic frequencies much like the Vahki, it usually uses edited and rearranged phrases to communicate with Matoran and other sentient beings. Since increasing its interaction with others the amount of words it has access to has expanded. In addition, its puzzle solving skills have increased since it started its adventures, and it has a low power speed disc with one charge left in its possession. Update notes between SKE and SKR: Kilo is better at puzzles, has more words, has a single use speed disc, and has salvaged a solar panel while leaving Metru Nui.
  22. Limbs unresponsive. Motors jammed. Overheating throughout chassis. Cavern has ceased collapsing. Allies are assisting. They could have escaped. Inefficient for their survival. This unit requires their help. Getting assistance... The machine slowly turned its one functional green eye to Nale, joints creaking from the effort. “Limbs unre-responsive,” the garbled voice explained. “Regeneration disc, back left compartment of unit.” The mechanical machine inclined its head behind it. “Retrieve detached limb. Use disc. Reatt-attach. Repair chassis. Retrieve spear. Escape archives. Limited time.” It was all up to Nale and Arkius now. OOC: @Tarn@Onaku If either of you post before the new season starts, Feel free to bunny Kilo and get us out of the archives. Otherwise, see you in the next season.
  23. IC Kilo-M9 - Archives: Grell’s attempt at firing acid was interrupted by a sudden shot from the side. Her zamor sphere flew off course as her life left her. The mechanical enforcer looked for the source of the shot, noticing Thom and Nale providing covering fire. There was brief moment of shock from the Mantan soldiers before they raised their weapons to fire. That moment gave the machine time to reach for a disc in its side compartment. Ideal moment has arrived. Enemies are distracted or injured. Allies require support. Target still lives. New mission: Kill every last one of them. Activating speed disk. Overclocking limb motors. Setting energy bubble launcher to full auto. Releasing safety limiters. Beginning assault. Before the assembled soldiers had a chance to respond to the sudden betrayal of honor, the protodermis protector was already letting loose a barrage of energy bolts from its tail. The first volley struck one of the kikanalo mounts in the group of troops. The bubble expanded from the rahi, knocking down two of the soldiers flanking it who weren’t expecting such an effect, while the unfortunate rider was forced up by the sphere of energy until he was unceremoniously crushed between the wall of energy and the ceiling of the cavern. Mantax had managed to recover from the shot to his league and was moving towards Thom. The skakdi was firing upon the troops, ignoring the hits he took in return, but soon enough the damage caught up him, and the skakdi was struck down by the angered warlord. The lead Mantan tossed the spear of fusion to his liege. Mantax extended an armored hand to receive the weapon. Metal fingers closed around the shaft of the spear, as Mantax turned to see the machine holding the relic. The barraki’s eyes widened as his leg was sliced open. The warlord was forced to look up at the red eyes looming over him. “This spear does not belong to you,” was all that was said between them. The spear plunged into Mantax’s eye socket, continuing forwards until there was nothing left to pierce. Mantax’s troops halted their fire for a brief moment as they observed the demise of their leader. The steel sentinel walked around the fallen warlord, twisting the spear in his head until a final crunch was heard. As the barraki’s body fell, the battle resumed. Blasts of various sources flew around the chamber. The machine dodged when possible, blocked with weapons when needed, took hits when there was no other option. With the power of the speed disc, there was no escape for the Mantans. Some were cut down, other stabbed. One was encased in a bubble, only to be released to fall onto the machine’s blade. Smoke was beginning to emerge from the former law enforcer’s joints. Joints losing integrity. Overheating in limb motors. Structure losing stability. The assault of the machine was stopped briefly when one of its legs broke off, the metal connectors no longer able to withstand the increased kinetic energy. What few troops were left trained their fire on the fallen machine in hope of remaining alive. One of its eyes was shattered by an incoming shot. Holes appeared in its armor as it was pelted. The troops closed in, assured of their victory. A sudden rumbling in the cavern prevented their victory. Not used to earthquakes, the former forces of Mantax were thrown off balance by the tremors, trying to find their footing. Despite only having three legs remaining, the machine’s experience and lowered position gave it the chance to take momentum. It launched into the cluster of warriors, tackling them to the ground. The machine bore down on them, stabbing and cutting until there was nothing left alive. A quiet descended in the cavern, despite the increasing rumbling. Kikanalo that had been bubbled were released to fall to the ground unconscious. The machine stood alone in a field of blood and bodies. Parts of the ceiling were beginning to fall down around it, but the sentinel didn’t attempt to dodge. It couldn’t move even if it wanted to. As the cavern collapsed around it, there was only one thought in its head. Mission Complete. New Objective: Survive
  24. IC Kilo-M9 - Archives: Enemy has taken cover. Enemy must be forced out into the open for proper counterattack to commence. Scanning environment for suitable projectile... Evasive maneuvers. The mechanical enforcer ducked to the left as the zamor sphere rushed past its head, impacting on the wall behind it. The crackling hum of electricity and buzzing of a dozen pairs of wings alerted it to the sphere’s contents. Auditory signal detected: Lightning bugs. Contact ill-advised. Swarm will be agitated. Nullification of swarm is required. Solution located. This unit will test how quickly enemy can reload. As the nefarious skakdi was no doubt beginning to reload her launcher, the protodermis protector rushed over to a nearby stasis tube. The tube had been damaged in the barraki’s rampage and ensuing earthquake, but that was no matter. The maintenance panel on the side had been untouched by the conflict, which the machine promptly smashed open with one of its hands. The other hand gripped the outer surface of the pod, and with a heave the tube was lifted from the ground and swung around. The lightning bugs that had been pursuing the machine were forced back lest they be swatted by the fast swinging piece of debris. At the right moment of the pod’s rotation, the machine let go, allowing the pod, bits and pieces still falling off mid-flight, to careen through the air, arcing over the display cases that formed Grell’s improvised cover and landing on her current position. The swarm of insects had recovered from the temporary setback and were poised to resume their attack. They wouldn’t get a chance, for the machine now held a tool to deal with them: a freeze disc from the stasis tube. The disc was launched at the bugs and in their off-balance state couldn’t hope to dodge. Ice coated the first insect hit, the cold energy soon spreading and encasing the entire group in a solid chunk of ice. The now frozen insects fell to the floor. The machine began to approach Grell’s location once more. With any luck, forcing the skakdi into closer quarters would result in less projectiles. OOC: @Unreliable Narrator@Tarn@Dane@Onaku
  25. IC Kilo-M9 - Archives: Preparing preemptive attack. Preemptive attack detected. Altering planned projectile trajectory. The mechanical enforcer, having not actually been told the rules to duels beforehand, was actually planning its own surprise attack while the skakdi warrior planned hers. A minor change of aim later and the machine tossed the torch it was still holding into the path of the oncoming zamor sphere. Both projectiles hit somewhat close to the center between both fighters, leading to the expected chain reaction. The kerosene within the sphere met the heat and flame of the torch and ignited as the sphere dispersed its contents, leading a medium-sized patch of flaming liquid to cover the ground. The fire cut off Grell’s advance which the machine was quick to try and take advantage of. As the torch carrying hand moved to retrieve the automaton’s other blade, its other hand was reaching into the side compartment to retrieve a disc labelled 632. The disc was promptly launched at the skakdi. Distraction initiated. Ideal moment has not arrived. Continuing combat until moment arrives. Searching records for similar liquids to contents of enemy’s current sphere. OOC: @Unreliable Narrator
