  1. I respectfully disagree. But the point is beside the overall, bigger point. Well if you're going to be picky, I'm going to point out that the -our way of spelling things (see also flavour, honour etc.) is derived from Norman French after those aforementioned Normans went and invaded us in 1066 and brought their language with them. The American -or way of spelling things is derived from Webster in the early 1800s, who I believe felt it was neater to try and get closer to the words original Latin roots. So while his manner of spelling does have some logic behind it (unlike, for example, the British pronunciation of lieutenant which is based entirely on an old spelling mistake) it is not how the language developed naturally which means Lucina is actually correct. Taste the A-Level English, you heathen ex-colonials @Sands: You might want to include some more details on the tech. Are the two universes sharing tech or can Glatorian only have Glatorian tools and Matoran only have Matoran tools? Could a Glatorian be wearing a Kanohi or a Matoran wield an elementally charged Spherus Magna weapon, for example? And speaking of elementally charged weapons, what kind of boundaries would there be on them? If I had an archer character would only the bow have charge, or could each individual arrow have a power? Also just realising how large those carriages must be. I realise the train's length isn't going to be distributed the same for all of them, but on average it means each one is about 200ft long. Is more of the train's close-to-a-mile-long bulk spent on the empty cargo cars than the rest cars, or are they really just freaking huge? @Skyrise: Since we're going for a sort of random encounter thing going, could be worth hinting what else might be out in the middle of an endless ocean. Seems like we'd just be flying out over a lot of water without much excitement so a reference to, I don't know a past expedition that never returned or something, would rack up tension a bit
  2. IC: Shouts broke out from inside the House of Grossh. A random Rahkshi prowling the gates was one thing, a random Rahkshi melting the gates was quite another. Fang could already hear orders being barked and feet running as the guards and stewards hurried to defend the villa. Freeze disks were the first and probably most obvious counter-attack Fang faced. For the most part they were focused on the gates themselves, trying to keep them from total destruction, but a few were finding their way towards the Rahkshi even now IC: Thankfully most of the influx had only minor wounds...or wounds that she could only do so much for. It was a shame Grim had had to lose the eye, but it was simply too badly damaged for even her power. Quick Healing was not miracle work. Still, those she could help, she did, patching up wounds big and small
  3. Just to clarify, the brass-like metal she's made of is actually brass yes? The so-called "strange metal" isn't going to have any weird properties to it?
  4. Well firstly that had better be an absolutely bloody fantastic explanation you've come up with for how that happened. Secondly, I'm loathe to approve anything not on the already quite generous list of 42. A custom power sounds like it has far too much potential to be OP if only because it'll be wielded by a Super Special Snowflake Mary Sue character. Not to mention balancing it would require balancing all six levels of the power... So to keep it simple, no, I don't think it would possible. I personally think thats clear enough, so Approved Edits approved
  5. Yes thats right, respond with sarcasm to advice given in a topic about getting advice. I'm sure that'll only make things better and also prove to everyone how suitable you are to be a GM. See, I can do sarcasm too. Not particularly helpful, is it? So how about we all try to keep things civilised and actually make some progress? The problem isn't that you aren't using an only slightly altered version of canon. The problem, as I have already explained, is that you aren't using any canon at all. Different world, different locations, different tools and even at least one different species. For all that you claim Panzer and Year 60,000 aren't Bionicley enough even they use some of the most old school Bionicle lore as basic mechanics with their tanks/mechs capable of channelling Kanohi. Reverse Space has...a species list. At the very end. Going to be honest, you want my approval you're going to have to do better than that. See those added bits of information on the diggers, thats useful stuff. They only thing currently said about them is their number of weapon slots and that they have air recyclers. Perhaps you could work that into the load-out mechanic you have going, and that scanners or anti-element armour plate takes up a slot like a weapon would. Means players have a more varied choice and can customise their diggers more
  6. OOC: Ghidora, I'm assuming that thing supposedly made to crush at Moonlight's chest is the gauntlet worn as Sunshine. Because I can't see any other reference as to what else it could be and I know you wouldn't be so foolish as to go making random additions to your character's anatomy since, you know, last time that resulted in them losing that anatomy IC: Palma worked her fingers between the seams of the restrictive chestplate on Moonlight's chest, the leverage and her Rahkshi strength allowing her to twist it back into a more...breathable shape. She had thought her work done and was about to ask Moonlight a few questions when a whole platoon of injured students came trooping in. Well, that was the latest assignment over then. Looks like she had work to do. She went among the injured, fixing up what needed fixing, resetting what needed resetting, and generally trying to make sure her patients would be up and walking as soon as possible
  7. Personally if I was running a digger then yeah, thats exactly what I'd have my earth Toa doing. Let the mechanics deal with keeping the ship running, I'll have the guy controlling the very substance around us maybe doing something with that. And given that the other guy is going to be rumbling and loud too, I reckon that'll make him show up like a beacon to my guy. And it's not like I have any other way of trying to pinpoint him; definitely can't just see him, SONAR and RADAR are right out, magnetometry is sketchy at best and you don't mention any fancy way tech we might use. Also going to point out that if you're going to use the confines of the digger to try and in a way nullify elemental powers then thats yet another level of disconnect from Bionicle you've got there
  8. You stated that: Which I read as Hollow's Makuta just letting him train himself physically because the Makuta "simply had no time" for any of the training himself Approved Approved Approved
  9. 1. And yet both of those make consistent use of species names and (in Year 60,000's case at least) recognisable locations. Sure you could do a Find and Replace job, change all references of Matoran to something else, but as it is it helps make the world more familiar and recognisable. Reverse Space does not have that familiarity as the first mention of anything even remotely Bionicle is that species list at the very very end. While personally I would guess its in some sort of Great Spirit where the GBs favoured fibre optic technology (hence those tunnels of glass) if anyone not from this forum saw it I suspect they'd think we were playing as humans right to the end when the wondered what a Toa was. 2. My complaint with the species list is not that it is small, its that it feels completely arbitrary. Like you've written up an RPG and gone "oh right, needs to be Bionicle" and just slapped in on as an afterthough. 3. That they're more organic than normal means they're clearly not from the MU as we know it though. Whether they get added to the species list or not makes no difference to how different they make the game from Bionicle. 4. No I was thinking of using an Earth Toa for pretty much anything else I wanted to. Make the earth in front of a hunter or target rock solid to slow their path. Remove the earth in front of my digger to let me travel faster. Create miniature tunnels to directly hurl munitions straight at an enemy rather than have it dig. Sense through the earth where ambushers might be waiting. Bring crushing pressures to bear on an enemy by controlling the earth around them. Those are just off the top of my head, give me time and I'll have more. Its similar to the issues raised about being a Ga-Toa in a game set underwater, only I think something as solid as earth would be even worse to deal with
  10. Or I could question and wonder why you think I'm going to allow something that apparently gives him the power to warp space? Wait what? You've previously said the Makuta had no interest in how Hollow trained, not that he just didn't do a proper job of it Since there was a little bit of upset over this in the assignment, going to need a bit of clarification on a few things: How large a test tube we talking here? How many sprays might he get out of each one? When you say the satchel hold chemicals...does that mean its just got the raw ingredients for creating formulas, or does he have extra test tubes (ie extra ammunition more than the ten in the bandoleer) in there?
  11. Reverse Space just kind of seems detached from Bionicle. If you didn't have that species list at the bottom you could submit it in OTC really. The history is different, the names are different, there's no mention of any familiar species before that aforementioned (and rather cursory) list and you have the aliens marking it out as even more different. I'm also wondering if you expect about 50% of your playerbase to pick earth Toa to play as, because I kind of am
  12. Its definitely an analogue to it yes, but as this world is clearly not actually Earth I think it would be foolish to assume everything was exactly the same. I mean from the sounds of it this War has been going on a lot longer, and all the countries are different too which is going to alter things. Which is one of the reasons I feel I need a bit more backstory; we might all have fled from a similar place from the same thing but if you're Croat equivalent while I'm a Serb equivalent then we're probably going to have some issues with each other. More background like that would be helpful for writing up and playing characters
  13. Right, edited in an Icarax post since I did say I'd wrap up the assignment at the end of the week. Since both me and my laptop are running out of energy I will get back to things in the morning
  14. Kind of feel we need to know a bit more about the world and its history. You mention the War a few times but don't really give any detail...which kind of feels a bit of a misstep given most of our characters are supposed to be immigrants who have fled from that very conflict. I would have thought something like that would have a bit of an effect on our backstory and characterisation.
  15. Approved Yes, and yes.Although, to be fair, I was thinking of the jewel to be like this whenever you moved around it, only in a spiral shape, so it has nothing special about it apart from looking trippy. I know this is nitpicking...but how does that work with a static object exactly? A solid, unmoving object can't pull itself inside out like the tesseract you linked So he's at Corpus for the primary purpose of learning his cyclone power, and to get it through his thick head that he needs to improve it. So how did his life with the Makuta work then? Hollow wants to get ripped, his Makuta has no real time for him and just gives him free reign of all the funds and equipment he can get. Then at some point the Makuta actually checks in on Hollow, sees he's been skipping cyclone day and is disappointed, so ships him off to Corpus
  16. IC: "A shipment came in with the latest batch of gruel for the kitchens," Palma answered, "I have left some in the unlocked cabinet. You should be able to help yourself to what you need for now." And then more urgent matters apparently required her attention. Doubt had pointed out Moonlight's plight but she had no time to answer his question. The answer was rather obvious anyway. Not knowing entirely what had happened, and Moonlight not being in a fit state to answer, she started off by trying to check his airways, opening his faceplates and mouthparts to try and per down his throat looking for obstructions IC: For now the doors to the House of Grossh remained unopened to Fang. The people of Malebranche were not a trusting sort, even for creatures normally as dutifully servile as the Rahkshi. The stewards of grassh's gates were not going to simply open the gate to any passing vagabond no matter how many spines he bore on his back IC: The air between Sliver and Draco seemed to shimmer faintly blue for a moment before becoming colourless again...but still wrong. It was bending the light of the room wrong, warping the sight of things like a magnifying glass. A stasis field, but a small one, had frozen the air and the light within the air, and now the still-free light was bouncing around it. It was not a particularly large barrier, or particularly thick given there had not been much time to construct it between the two, but a barrier it remained. When Sliver slammed into it, it did not yield. Enough of this, Icarax demanded, Student Sliver, while I have no small appreciation your determination and pragmatic approach to the task, the flaws on it have clearly not dawned on you. It is a slow method, which has denied you a swift end to the threat within your midst, and worse has allowed that threat to mimic your actions to neutralise other civilians without giving their position away. Isn't that right, Student Shark? He looked to Shark, something like twisted glee flashing in the coals of his eyes, before returning to Sliver. Nevertheless, four of the assassins fell and you seem to be on your way to despatching a fifth. A look was shot at Draco. You deserve some credit for that. Yourself, Recherche, Grim, Shark, Draco, you will all join me after you have seen to any wounds you might have. I have certain tasks in mind for you...
  17. IC: A sound blow to the head was all it took to silence Booger. Palma knew just how to strike a Rahkshi so that you laid them out cold without causing any lasting brain damage. Stuff like that was always so tricky to try and fix. After hefting Booger onto a bed to sleep his tantrum off (and wiping off the crud that accumulated on her armour after handling the oozing student) she looked to Malattia who had been hovering nervously around for a while. "You were the one requesting special medication weren't you?"
  18. I'd advise against that, frankly. You've provided a larger world to toy around in and have set up no real conflict or factions that might provide a driving force. The characters are most likely going to just sort of drift about aimlessly Oh and for Ghidora's space-y one; Where do melee weapons fit into that Weapons section? Does that just count for any projectile tool we're carrying, and stuff like swords are just fair game?
  19. Actually... I've just run a search through the topic, and it's been nearly five days since my last Sliver post, and despite being online and posting in several other topics, Draco's player has apparently chosen not to respond to it. This assignment has dragged on long enough, and I don't think it's really fair at this point to force everyone else to wait another five or six days for the purpose of maybe finishing off one more fight. Even if it turns out that Draco actually is an assassin, I wouldn't object to finishing off the assignment now, for the sake of all the other players involved. At the time of my posting it had been closer to four days. There have been longer delays between posts and I try to be charitable when making allowances for people's actual lives. Also going to point out the obvious; if you're so desperate to have the whole thing over you could just have Sliver lose the fight. Just in case it would be easier to see like this. While I do frown on them being so barebones, there's nothing actually wrong with them so they're approved Question about the bio, if his Makuta was so willing to keep Hollow around and use up resources for the strength training why is he not doing the same for power training? 4-Dimensional spiral? We can see it through time, can we? And is the "Sir" an honorific he bestowed entirely on himself?
  20. IC: Palma just looked at the squirming Booger with something like pity softening her glare. "Just stay down. You can't win this."
  21. Still waiting for an edit on the Lerahk twins, but Orimnoc is Approved. Hollow is not, because that appearance is basically a secondary power. Especially since he's not actually that menacing according to how he's described. As a final note, I will be bringing the assignment to a close, finally, once I see how this Draco/Sliver fight goes. If it goes nowhere by the end of the week, I'll just end it as it is
  22. OOC: Jayar, Shield and Snake all gaina level for their RPing of Kamanau IC: A few hundred years of existence had sharpened Palma's reflexes to razor edges. Decade upon decade of medical knowledge meant she could spot the action of any muscle and knew what moves were coming. A lifetime of rushing on missions to bring back from the brink those who were about to slip into the eternal darkness gave her frightening speeds. All of this added up to a simple fact that any Rahkshi not off their heads with anger could have told Booger: Maybe not a good idea to tussle with Palma. A swing of her staff and the club went sailing from Booger's hands, the greater weight and momentum of the caduceus knocking it to the other side of the room. Next the winged staff came back the other direction, but lower this time, going for Booger's knees. She was aiming to disable him, force him out of any fight simply by rendering him unable to stand
  23. Is that sword something akin to a sawfish sword, or is it more spiky and impractical than that? I'd appreciate some reasoning for why they can do what no other Lerahk can do, yes. And you'll have to explain exactly what you mean by "shadow garden" if you're going with that explanation Just a reminder, but Rahkshi need to maintain that reclining pose they do in the movie and their ads to stay flying. Might be a bit tricky doing that with a broken leg, which is I think what Sergei had in mind
  24. Given that Lerahk can usually only produce slime that sickens, how are these two making stuff that has different effects? On the subject of the villages, as long as its just ones around where Phantom used to be and not every village on the island, there shouldn't be a problem. Nynrah is not some bustling metropolis with settlements nestled close to each other, there's likely only a couple of other actual villages around for Vlad and co to visit. I hear one voice wanting to bring the assignment to a close, and I kind of agree since its been going on for a while and really started to feel lime a drag for most of it. Thing is, staying hidden was the half the job the assassins had, and I don't want to undermine the efforts of the two who've actually succeeded at it so far. Does anyone else think that Icarax should just bring a halt to the whole thing and reward those who deserve it
  25. IC: Well, Booger had brought this upon himself. Saying "no-one can stop me" was always tempting fate. The blunt end of her staff came up and slammed into the bottom of his chin, and before Booger could do anything but stagger the business end came swiping at his ankles, the wing-blades sweeping his legs out from under him. "No. Fighting. In. The Infirmary." Palma's eyes were glowing ominously as she issued her warning. She took the sanctity of her house of healing very seriously, and if Booger was determined to cross the line he was going to find her waiting on the other side with a glare and a weapon or two
