  1. C'est La Bionicle...

  2. #bringitback #matorodidntdieforthis More like #BringBackBionicleOrIWillThrowAwayAllMySetsAndNeverBuyAnyLegoAgainHowDareYouBetrayUsLegoYouWereTheChosenOneILovedYou #toaignikadidntdie(?)forthis
  3. Bionicles come, Bionicles go, fading in and out of memory in a cycle bound to repetition, the old becomes new, and the new grows old... for that is the way... of the bi- yeah idk if i can do it. oops.
  4. huh, unexpected, dang 0: but i do feel those who are quick to say "see, this is like i said, it is objective garbage" leave a much worse taste in my mouth than the cancellation as a whole. To me, these two years feel more competent and vibrant than the bulk of Gen1, which in hindsight i meet not with nostalgia, but with a sour face at the bloated mess of tangled plotlines, stretched thin to meet as long a timeline as they felt capable, it is no wonder Gen1 died, gen2 is the one that surprises me. and finally i will address the ever present issue where someone mentions gen1 was the best because it introduced so many new molds (ew) and that doing anything less is lazy and rehashing: need I remind that most-if-not-all gen1 titans were made with no unique mold to their own, outside of maybe the weapon and/or mask? (2006 onward only)
  5. the story brought me in a lot but i am gonna be honest and just say it was the fact that i already sold my soul to Lego by that point and they were MAGIC ROBOT WARRIORS i mean, even if the sets got a little ehhhhh on the building experience, especially later, there is no denying that this kinda character design still holds up as "a really cool thing you wanna see more of" right? I dunno i am still kinda a kid at heart, and still easily captivated by colorful magic robot islanders vs decrepit robot vampire lords* 0: (for gen2, swap vampire lord for "Lich King" i guess)
  6. sweet baby bluebirds that is one heckuva prize O-O shame that i have so few pieces in my parts library but... i do have the Mask of Control and plenty of black shells, which should solidify a model as "Makuta"? o: (i wish i had purple though, curses.)
  7. this all feels less the fault of the ending and more the fault of the Greg, like, Orde/Charia/etc weren't even introduced until the very end, they have no real purpose and idk why he even bothered bringing them up so close to conclusion 0:
  8. from what i gather that is the official color-scheme of the "stone" element in gen2, the neon yellowgreen is analogous to the light tan color used in gen1, and also represents the "stone energy" whenever it appears. I'd call it an odd choice too if not both for how well it contrasts his main color and silver accent, and also cuz it's used by at least three other stone themed characters.
  9. there's an issue here cuz like... what is "raw toa power?" like, if we're talking raw, then Tahu (golden) doesn't qualify cuz that's not his power, it is specifically the armor? (the armor also apparently gives him rahkshi powers but again i think that's the armor, and taking it off reverts him to Tahu vanilla?) so what qualifies as "toa power"? and yeah i am confused why Matoro is beneath the other mahri, is it cuz he's dead or....?
  10. Voltix has a nice color scheme, problem is it was one meant for smaller details, and they made it big blocks of color instead...
  11. i will agree with an above point that vamprah's wings were oddly color-distributed, as well as throw in the fact that i hate Onua mistika, since it is color relevant, he's like, 99% pitch black?? with... red accents?? those weren't "out of place" i guess so much as jsut an awful design choice but...
  12. oh gosh, Garan AND Velika, those things were like, the only voyatoran left on shelves come 2008, at severe price cuts too. only fair they end up free i guess :u
  13. Bionicle oddly IS a colection-based concept, similar to pokemon, it's jsut that what you're looking for isn't creatures, it's artifacts. so a location-based Bionicle game could work, and would probably be pretty fun? it'd just probably be less like PokeGo and more around masks n whatnot o:
  14. Minor gripe tbh but, the "evil" side should have the rock edge piece instead of the angle wedge piece on its sides, right? i am pretty sure those were used as parallels? but i mean, your model so idk.
  15. Look, if this is gonna let me see Tahu Nuva as a gorilla with a surfboard, count me in.
  16. somehow i entered the raffle despite having at bare minimum three garan already, none of them are intact, that might be why >o> (look i lost a LOT of metru heads especially...)
  17. sets, I like the aesthetic more than greg's writing anyway, and could easily have come up with my own plot if necessary. Lego Island Robots as a concept and style trumps whatever thin plot you tie em to regardless. o:
  18. i would think so, but they died to a rock, and that's not very stone-y of them...
  19. yeah same, this is basically how i already saw the scorpios, a vague concept of a scorpion mad of people bits. very 'Dark Souls' if you think about it.
  20. dang i wish i could pay a ticket to get a mahri, i love mahri -o- BUT, i won't scoff at a chance for the nice colors that come in Bad Guy either, he's not such a bad guy...
  21. Lego seems pretty determined to cast each of the small-joint variants in only one color, possibly due to the way Mixel waves are released. make em in one color and mixel fans might want them in EVERY color. so... >o>
  22. That's kinda what I thought originally, but you don't just throw in a bunch of extra screws when you're building a machine. Each component in a system should have some purpose. I'm just saying what they do, why they're there is anyone's guess given how patchy the canon of bionicle is. like i legit can't think of a good reason for putting spring-loaded tigers less than a mile from a populated settlement, but i am also not a retcon makuta, so... truthfully in a "functional" GSR there'd be no rahi but there are simply cuz local flavor says animals in fantasy settings are cooler.
  23. the matoran universe is an ecosystem of sorts, so the Rahi fill the same niche that animals do in reality, they hunt matoran, matoran hunt them, etc. now for the overall function of the robot i have no idea. but given walruses don't stop global warming or maintain the magnetic fields i'm not sure they need one?
