  1. No the only reason to have a Gen 1 Mask of Creation was to make us realize that only 2 of the 3 legendary masks came in set form and that we needed to purchase the Mask of Creation when it was finally produced... ...Hence Ekimu coming to sell us the Gen 2 Mask of Creation. Good sales pitch Lego, good job. Then to confuse things more, they told us the Mask of Creation was one of three NEW legendary masks which we would want to get all of... so here comes Umarak with his sales pitch for the Mask of Control in 2016!!
  2. That is the best explanation for that. ever. Two mundane robot/cyborgs stop doing their job for a thousand years, and begin to branch out emotionally into this super-platonic romance that never gets physically beyond holding hands and clunking their masks together... Wait a minute... p.s. (that could explain why the flirting between Jaller and Hahli ended when they became Toa, they got back to their programmed job!) p.s.s. (why did the Matoran have different genders anyway? Did the Great Beings just decide that certain elements where better controlled by one gender over the other? Certainly wasn't an issue for the Agori or the Av-Matoran; or even the Gen 2 villagers to have both genders in the same elemental groups.)
  3. Nice. With some sound and music, we could go about recreating the entire Bionicle Story as if it was an MNOLG cutscene... Or we could just use it to bring to life your funny stories... A 6 hour long animation of "The Staring Contest" perhaps? (please no.not really that long...)
  4. Singing major then... Can we actually get Gary Oldman then for Gordon? That would be awesome to see/hear him again in that role...
  5. Maersk Blue is still around: but it would be nice to see it in more than just the Maersk sets.
  6. So does this mean Ralph Fiennes's minifigure count is up to two now? (With Voldemort and Alfred)
  7. I have Bionicle the Game on my old Xbox, and it is a bit of a frustrating game as I feel has been shown in this video. The story is less a coherent story and more a mashup of "Bionicle 2002-2003 Greatest Hits." But I liked playing it as a kid. But be warned, Kopaka is not the last vehicle level, we still have Pohatu's mine car and Tahu Nuva's lava surfing levels ahead... Lewa's level also will have a lot of wacky glide mechanics coming on.
  8. Yep. While Lego is busy telling the stories of G2, my mind creates crazy fandom stories and G1 connections because, well I can. Its fiction! But those plastic Bionicle things in your home, yeah those are real, and Lego produced thousands of more like them. But they don't come to life like in Toy Story, sorry...
  9. Well my 8297 Off-Roader is often driven by one of my Voya-Matoran figures... If only Kopaka could fit inside we would have a perfect crossover Also is that a new official Lego depiction of a use for Kopaka's skis? I guess they do triple duty as skis, ice picks, and a shield these days...
  10. Well done, made me chuckle a bit. I remember when the Piraka where in Happy Meal toys themselves... I imagine Avak having fun with his cheap Happy Meal toy!
  11. My first theory: For the original Bionicle Lego had given the keys over to the Knights Templar through their front operation "Templar Studios." The Templar made sure Bionicle was a success but also tried to wrest control from Lego, thus causing Lego to grow suspicious of the Knights and their front operation. To play it safe the second time around, Lego handed the keys over to an incompetent studio lead by a bunch of Dum!Dums! who made meager films, but dared not challenge the might of Lego... Just kidding! So my actual thoughts. I recall as a kid that I was exposed to the Gen 1 story by three things: the sets, the comics, and the MNOLG. The canister sets were, okay for the time, but in retrospect they are weak sets compared to newer designs but being 7 years old at the time I wasn't thinking about their design that much... The comics, were good and they were distributed for free with Lego Mania, they got me hooked to the story. I enjoyed MNOLG, but as a kid I could never figure out how to make it to Ko-Koro or Le-Koro, so I didn't know how the cutscenes in the game played out until they were re-released as stand alone videos on Bionicle.com. Flash forward to 2015, our main story sources have been the animations, the sets, and the novel; with a graphic novel coming soon. I can't judge the novel yet since I haven't read it. The sets though are spectacular, had those been released back in 2001 we would be seeing Bionicle on the big screen instead of Bay's Transformers (okay, maybe not but I can dream can't I?). The animations this year had their moments, but at the end it was a rushed cheep action sequence. So comparably, the only things G1 did better story wise its first year was the free comics and a nice video game to support their online animations. G1's story was pretty fleshed out from the beginning but as I recall it wasn't until the Mask of Light saga that the story real got to take its stride. G2 isn't as fleshed out yet, but hey it still has a while to go before the story can really dig in. Plus Lego is also dividing its attention with the story for Ninjago, Nexonights, Chima, Friends, and their several in house IP's. When Bionicle was around it was one of Lego's only in house themes which such an elaborate story, but now it is not alone. Besides, us AFOL's probably were never the target audience anyway for the new Bionicle. If anything, Lego is probably betting that nostalgia for the G1 story line is what is going to get parents/grandparents/siblings/cousins to purchase G2 figures for their youngsters, heck nearly 90% of my classic Bionicle sets came from gifts from my parents and grandparents.
  12. I let so many of my old Lego sets fall to bits as a kid, that now I keep most of them assembled. I have a closet with my System sets, and a former VHS shelf case to put my Bionicle figs on. If I build something for a MOC, the pieces eventually come back to their original model.
  13. I assume you are talking about this mask? http://brickset.com/sets/GALIMASK-1/Gali-Mask . Seeing there are only 200 of those things in existence; and I don't have plans to shell the money out for one, I will have to go for either the solid blue Mask of Water or use the classic Trans Blue Kaukau. I think the solid G2 Solid Blue Mask of Water fits the G2 ascetic more, but the Kaukau would sure bring back memories.
  14. I could see the Gold Mask of Water as an Avohki substitute, now that it has been mentioned I have noticed the Mask of Water has similar sweeping curves as the Avohki which come of the side of the mask. I don't think I would use the Blue Mask of Water though for Takua, since if he is using the MoW for Takanuva, it would look to similar. So here are my mask ideas then summed up so far: Takanuva: Pearl Silver Avohki, or Gold Mask of Water Takua: Protector of Water Mask Jaller: Gold Mask of Fire (Toa Jaller? Protector of Fire Mask?) Hahli: Blue Mask of Water I have also thought about how Hewki's original color is Burnt Orange exactly like Pohatu's new colors, so maybe he might be getting a Gen 2 MOC sometime too.
  15. ^Thanks for the comments. For Takua I am waiting on a Bricklink order for new pieces, so he can have a completely black skeleton frame without the trans blue pieces. I also bought enough skeleton pieces that I am hoping to do G2 style Jaller, Hahli, and other Matoran/Villager builds in the future. Jaller and Hahli have perfect G2 mask matches, with the Gold Mask of Fire, and the Blue Mask of Water respectively. I also got a Protector Mask of Fire of Bricklink, so maybe I could do a generic Fire Villager to go along with Takua and Jaller. On the Mask of Light; I personally like it, but I can see what you mean saying a golden G2 mask might fight the style better. The only G2 gold mask though which resembles the Avohki seems to be the Mask of Creation though, and that mask is iconic in its own right that Takanuva with a Mask of Creation might look more like "Toa Ekimu" than Takanuva. The gold Mask of Light might work, but it is a different color than the "New Gold" and also fetches a higher price on Bricklink.
  16. I recently did versions of Takua and Takanuva in CCBS pieces. I have posted both of them to my MOCpages account, come over and take a look! Takua: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/421075 Takanuva: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/421252 These MOCs are hardly works of art, but I enjoyed the build process. Comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome.
  17. I'd be some solitary Ko-Matoran who spent all his time busy in his work and hobbies, without much care for the outside world. I would do what the Empire tells me, but I would know the flaws and pointlessness of all they tell me to do. Eventually I would have a major outburst which would lead me to ultimate rebellion, or I would succumb to the norm and try and live my life regardless of what happens in politics. Wait... that wasn't Bionicle; that is my emergency plan if Trump or Hillary become U.S. president
  18. Hmm... I really didn't follow the Hero Factory story that much. I got the first comics with Lego Club magazine, along with the personalized "Hero Factory Invites You..." booklet with Lego Club. But other than that, I know ziltch. I didn't even buy any sets... (I stopped buying constraction sets from 2007 until 2015 with this new Bionicle reboot). So yeah, reboot or continuation, I don't care either way. The one thing though I wish Hero Factory had explored was the fact the Hero's were in the same galaxy as a futuristic Earth (or it was at least hinted.) That would have been the chance for some humanized constraction sets or maybe a Space Police crossover... but its now a missed opportunity.
  19. Yeah, I don't really enjoy the films to much as an adult now: but I was 11 when Web Of Shadows came out and I enjoyed it then! Might not be the best Bionicle film, but it is still very nostalgic for me.
  20. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/WorfTNG.jpg ^I AM MATA NUI!
  21. I kinda want to chase down some old Greg books now. Sure he wasn't perfect, I've read better books from authors to tie into a "product" ( Greg Bear's Halo Books and Kevin J. Anderson's Star Wars Books and his Rush book: for example). But Greg really did work at making a good story that was accessible to children and respected by Sci-Fi fans. Just compare Greg's execution of the story to the film crews who made the four Bionicle movies. It seems the film crews thought "we are just making a children's product;" while Greg thought a little more on the impact Bionicle could have. Case in point: I once read a review written on Amazon for "Makuta's Guide to the Universe" which was written by a parent who was raising a Bonkle Boy. This parent showed great respect for the book, saying it was well done and comparable to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy stuff aimed towards adults.
  22. Well, back in 2004 I WAS Vakama for Halloween, those ruber masks bent horribly!
  23. Yeah, same happens to me. A lot of friends like to talk about Pokémon as a kid, and after I tell them I wasn't into Pokémon they look shocked. That's when I tell 'em about good old "Bonkle." Works every time.
  24. Bwhahahahaha, no kidding. Lets please the fanboys by bringing back the most tragic death of G1, connect G1 together with G2 and then WAIT! Plot twist, Matoro is the big bad, he is Kulta, no better yet; he is the Mask of Ultimate Control. And then, Matoro kills Pohatu... Cruelest fan service, EVER. Where did that come from?Well, somebody has to die!
  25. Bwhahahaha, well done. The funny thing is, with different masks the actual sets look like very different characters. I have a Kaukau for both Tahu and Kopaka, and a black Huna that works for Onua; but I can barely stand seeing them like that, they just look so different. Best disguise ever!
