  1. Bwhahahahaha, no kidding. Lets please the fanboys by bringing back the most tragic death of G1, connect G1 together with G2 and then WAIT! Plot twist, Matoro is the big bad, he is Kulta, no better yet; he is the Mask of Ultimate Control. And then, Matoro kills Pohatu... Cruelest fan service, EVER.
  2. I love these modular buildings, they are part of what kept me as a TFOL and what draws me as an AFOL. Heck if Lego wasn't selling modulars I probably wouldn't have had enough interest in Lego to be here when Bionicle got back!
  3. Bwhahahahaha. There goes the village...
  4. I recall in Argentina a lot of Hero Factory knockoff shipped in from China were pretty common, a lot of them were pre-assembled in plastic bubble pacakging. When one thinks that a knockoff Hero Factory set in Argentina costed only 10 pesos, while a real TLG made Hero Factory set was at least 100 pesos plus customs taxes invoked for shipping from Europe or North America... it kinda makes sense why knockoffs exsist. They fill the extremely cheap market that Lego could never go to due to Lego's higher quality.
  5. In elementary school I had a few friends who liked Bionicle, but most of them either grew out of it or I lost contact with them. While I served my religious mission I recall I once told the entire Gen 1 story to another missionary for the fun off it (Just remember, although those guys in a white shirt, tie, and a black nametag want to share religion when they come to your door: back in their apartment they talk a lot about girls back home, their favorite movies back home, video games back home, and the stuff they did as kids. So it was pretty easy for me to throw Bionicle in while they would reminisce about their Pokemon/Sega/Halo fandom in their youth) As a college student I don't bring it up much, but all my roommates can see my small dorm collection of Gen 2 figs...
  6. Yeah pacing was too fast. The old animations were very slow and now these new ones are too fast! Where is the happy medium? G2 desperately needs some serious world building now, like what MNOG, the comics, and bonus material did for G1. Maybe now that year one of G2 is coming to a wrap we could get some more world building from TLG. Anybody else note the names of Greg Farchety, Christoffer Raundual, and Christian Faber in the credits? Even if they still aren't working on Bionicle, TLG still lists them as the series creators.
  7. I would hardly call it subtlety, 2001 vibes are all over the place in the Rebooted story!
  8. So I finally got around to watching Bionicle: The Legend Reborn last night. I think I feel a lot like the people on this forum, I was not to impressed. A lot of the characterization bugged me. Michael Dorn as Mata Nui was fine, but half his lines didn't make a lot of sense in the context of the movie... The way he goes around telling people that they are true Toa, that he is an guardian of another world, and that a giant robot has enslaved his people: he talks as if they already knew that and doesn't explain things. It leaves a viewer very confused to what he is talking about. However when Mata Nui had a good moment he was genuinely awesome, sadly those moments were far and inbetween. Ackar acted good, but I wondered why his voice sounded like a Saturday morning cartoon voice from the 1990's... Kiina was turned into a complete spaz by the movie, her victory dance in the first scene we meet her makes me think she really is crazy... Gresh suffers from the "surf dude" voice that plagued Jaller and Takua in Mask of Light. Almost the Agori seemed like they were 10 years old... When will Bionicle filmakers realize that the little guys in the story weren't born yesterday? Then the visuals... The Agori teeth, Mata Nui's fold up mask... Lots of weird stuff. So yeah, I have a lot to gripe about the movie. As a whole with the Bionicle story, it is a small story that really doesn't correlate with much else. By itself, the movie doesn't flow to well or make much sense. Any other opinions? Am I being a bit to harsh or does The Legend Reborn deserve it?
  9. Well if there was a general knowledge that Makuta were beings of darkness why would the Turaga be hanging out with them in the first place? (Unless they were in a situation like the Toa Hagah and somehow thought it was necessary)
  10. Mata Nui was a good run,Metru Nui too. I liked Ignition's darker tone but the occasional ugliness sometimes kills it. I vote Glatorian as least favorite, because by then I had lost interest of the story. I can hardly recall what happened in those comics other than the last two "Stars" issues with Makuta and Mata Nui boxing.
  11. Let's play a game of... Monopoly! -Halhi (Matoran)
  12. Let's just have fun and stop making ominous foreshadowing comments... -Mata Nui trapped in the Mask of Life after G1 Finishes...
  13. Well maybe that is why the Matoran were built to live millions of years (or maybe more...). Slow travel doesn,'t matter for the near immortal
  14. Jaller: So Hewkii, what happened with you and Macku? Hewkii: Greg got angry about Macku's business in "SHIPs"...
  15. This... At least a woman for Gali's voice. Now that I think of it I might as well cast a Dreamcast for Bionicle voices: Tahu-Dwayne Johnson Kopaka-Benedict Cumberland Lewa-Robert Downey Jr. Onua-(?) Pohatu-Cris Pine Gali-Emma Watson Ekimu-Patrick Stewart If only...
  16. I re-watched a bit of Mask of Life the other day, and I kinda feel the movies were not up to snuff to the story. I feel the comics were the best selection of the story in their visuals and writing. The books were nice for the extra detail, but the characterization was lacking. I don't mind Mata Nui being a robot though, it actually makes a lot of sense. But Makuta being a gas? Hmmm...
  17. I imagine the if HISHE on YouTube had done this... Makuta "Brother, I have come to destroy you!" Mata Nui "Why? You already cast me out of my body, control all of the Matoran, and got everything you ever wanted. Besides, I am in a smaller robot, you pretty much have won the fight." Makuta "I guess your right..." Mata Nui "Besides, why not let all the Toa, Turaga, and Matoran fighting you go free and come over to my body. Less likely that they will damage you or dare I say 'put you to sleep' and steel your body from you?" Makuta "Your right brother: never thought of it that way. Go free puny Matoran, leave and let my dark realm continue in peace!" (We see thousands of beings leave Makuta's foot and run into Mata Nui's) Makuta "Thanks for your advice, now I'm going to go and kill that Makeohero robot guy, his bot's give me the creeps." Mata Nui "What a great idea! I'll come with you!" (We see the two robots smashing Hero Factory to bits, followed by a tagline Coming Soon: Bionicle 2011...) (The scene cuts back to Bara Magna... We see Kiina) Kiina "Hey, were do you think your going! Come back you JERK!!!"
  18. Set wise: every Matoran before they turned into a Toa! We only have one Takua pre-Toa figure, only two Jallers, and not a single pre Matoran Toa Metru, not a single one! Also the Turaga lacked in love, we only got seven Turaga sets (8 if you count a hard to get freebie as Turaga Lihkan). This is very weird seeing that the Turaga appeared in comics and books all the way up until G1 ended.
  19. Yeah, mostly dreams of buying sets... Only to be disappointed when I woke up and realized it wasn't real...
  20. Maybe I was lucky I wasn't on the forums late 2007; I missed out completely on Matoro's funeral dirge! In the story itself it was meaningful but I can see how fandom would have dragged it out beyond what it should have been. Tahu is often underdefined, but I feel the G2 version has been more underwhelming than the G1, he just seems a bit thick headed in G2 right now. (Tahu is a particular favorite of mine though, so I'm biased a bit) Vezon is a great set, but I have not read Greg's expanded universe stories past the 2007 year, so I can only imagine the Mary Sue treatment he might have gotten... Who is Lariska? If she is not in a set, I have no idea who she is...
  21. I had gotten into Lego a year or two earlier, and I was already receiving the Lego Mania magazine. I saw the early ads in 2001, and perhaps the first comics. On a school bus I saw a kid with a Vakama figure. That red face beneath the mask burned into my memory. I soon bought Toa Mata Lewa after school one day, I built him and was shocked by how smooth his mask was. I soon discovered the MNOG, and the rest was history... But how I got back into Bionicle: I bought a few of the Bahraki in 2007 and was soon burned out by the brand. I focused the rest of my money on other Lego themes, although I still followed the Bionicle story from time to time. I nearly bought Mata Nui in 2009, but I didn't. The theme was cancelled, and Hero Factory never attracted me as much as Bionicle. In 2013 I left on a two year religious mission to Salta Argentina, I came home in Summer 2015, and soon visited Salt Lake City's new Lego Store. And there they were... Tahu, Gali, Lewa, and the others. The gang was back together, I left the store with a few Lego System goodies plus G2 Tahu: and the rest was history...
  22. Well seeing that the Toa have a big case of amnesia, we can come up with any fan story to connect G1 to G2 anytime we want without breaking canon. Heck Bionicle is all about Fanon, how many kids do you think are doing word for word reenactments of the books while they play with their Bionicle sets? No, they create Fanon nearly every time they play. Our G1-G2 connection stories only have to be taken seriously by one person, yourself. And as for easter eggs, their is about as much resemblance between Star Trek 2 and Star Trek Into Darkness as their is Bionicle G1 and G2. Are their connections? Yes. Are those connections a valid factor on the end story results? No, not really.
  23. Great sad Vakama meme. Speaking of Vakama, it is likely that while the Turaga didn't know a hundred percent that Mata Nui was a giant robot they probably had visions and prophecy's which gave them enough of an idea that "Mata Nui fell here," statements carried meaning. Also note that in "The Legend" cutscene at the beginning of MNOG: the little rocks climb on top of the fallen Mata Nui Stone... Another great double meaning.
  24. Maybe it should be this way: Onua is Master of Earth, Toa of Earth. He has power over Earth particles, and INTRUSIVE rocks (rocks underground). He has great strength, night vision, and so forth. Pohatu is Master of Stone, Toa of Stone. He has power over sand and EXTRUSIVE rocks (above ground rocks). He is fast, and passes his free time in athletic activities. None of those were canon subscriptions but just an idea Remember a lot of sources show that Earth and Stone need to work together to unlock their FULL power too.
