  1. Your name is definitely familiar to me. Looks like we joined the same year!

I didn't log on for a few years until I got back into Lego last year. Now I come in every now and then to update this topic or post a blog entry.

I was at BrickFair this month and was surprised at the size of the younger Bionicle community that exists now, though they mostly communicate using platforms like Discord and Instagram.

Nice. The green nuva weapons look weird, because i could've sworn I've seen those before, on an actual set...

They were never in any sets, but a few people on here have them so you've probably seen pictures of them before. Maybe on a MOC?

For some reason, Onua's weapons have never turned up. I've seen maybe six or eight people with these and nobody ever has the quake breakers.

Ooooooooh, I don't think I've ever seen that board game? It's amazing that you were able to find one sealed.

Yeah, it was a lucky BrickLink find. There are a few on there still but none sealed.

Hooray for returning to LEGO! That shade of green is gorgeous, and those small Bohrak are quite endearing. Love the one with tiny swords. Do you plan to build, or keep all sealed?

Definitely keeping the polybags sealed. The boxed versions were common but the polybag versions are hard to find.

  4. Let me know who you round up, though

    I never said I was going. :P

Given how significant a factor the social aspect is in my con attendance, the current forecasted BZP turnout, and the ludicrous quantity of academic writing I have to do this semester, I think I'll probably skip this one.

I am suitably ashamed of myself.

  5. The Xindi arc is so interesting because it's by far the longest story arc in the entire franchise (unless you count the Dominion War in DS9, but that was punctuated by a lot of non-war episodes so it wasn't a smooth arc).

Enterprise is also neat because it gives explanations for a lot of the inconsistencies in earlier series, such as why the TOS Klingons don't have forehead ridges (the only other mention of which is Worf in DS9 saying he doesn't want to talk about it).

I think you'll really enjoy the rest of the series. I certainly did.

  6. stuck on international plan, mind. not living here, just visiting and we don't have an ACTUAL international plan

so we get robbed if we use any data at all. fun.

also in alberta. St. Albert, specifically.

Yeah, I meant you need a plan that doesn't rip you off if you leave the country.

So you're in Edmonton. That's not the middle of nowhere. I know because I am also in Edmonton. Going off the oddly consistent blog entry titles, is this a group visit?

  7. Finally flew from the nest, fishers? :P

I've found that the three desks can be consolidated into a single unit of appreciable size, made easier by keeping things tidy. I have yet to learn how to do the latter consistently, though.

Furthermore, a car can be rendered unnecessary by living within a few blocks of campus and grocery stores, and by living in a city with a decent transit system.

Having a taste for the finer things in life, I would add an espresso machine and a decanter containing a quality libation to this list, but these things are entirely extraneous and frivolous to most people.

Oh, and a bottle of genuine Canadian maple syrup, to go with one's morning waffles and latte. Obviously.

  8.

I'm debating whether to be launched into space for a burial, but I'm not sure I want to begin my immortal existence falling out of the sky.

You just need to make sure you've reached escape velocity. That way you'll continue on into deep space and maybe be discovered and resurrected by an alien race in a million years or so.

  9. If someone outside the US wins, I would advise against using UPS or any other courier. Use USPS. UPS legally has to charge import taxes, and they have their own processing fees which are paid upon receipt, so the winner will end up paying as much as they would by just buying the set themselves. UPS is also completely incompetent and there's a good chance the prize will never be seen again.
