  1. Geez Andre, after all that work? Not sure I'm in a position to buy anything expensive right now, but let me toss some numbers your way and see what you think. White Huna: $300 Brown Komau: $300 Metru Red Huna: $300 PLGK: $40 5-hole Kraahkan: $60 Prototype Bitil helmet: $100 -L
  2. Not sure if sarcastic or uninformed. www.brickcan.com -L
  3. Here you go Maddison. This is a blog entry. Also BrickCan is fun. -L
  4. If I remember correctly the UK variant was seperately given out in cereal boxes in Germany. And I might be wrong about this, but weren't they also losely given out at Legoland parks? That's correct, they came individually packaged with German cereal. Sealed ones are very hard to come by. The only time I've seen them on the market was about a year ago, in an eBay auction that Flintsmith won. There were five, and he auctioned three of them off for about $20-25 a piece. I haven't heard of them being given out individually at Legoland, but it's possible. -L
  5. To echo what's been said, those packs are extremely rare and I wouldn't open it if I were you. I believe there was another one for the other six sets, but I don't recall ever seeing one for sale. Lego's done this with a few set lines. There were packs like this for the Bohrok, Toa Nuva, Vahki, Toa Metru and Piraka, and possibly others I'm not aware of. They're all considered very rare collectibles. -L
  6. Finally flew from the nest, fishers? I've found that the three desks can be consolidated into a single unit of appreciable size, made easier by keeping things tidy. I have yet to learn how to do the latter consistently, though. Furthermore, a car can be rendered unnecessary by living within a few blocks of campus and grocery stores, and by living in a city with a decent transit system. Having a taste for the finer things in life, I would add an espresso machine and a decanter containing a quality libation to this list, but these things are entirely extraneous and frivolous to most people. Oh, and a bottle of genuine Canadian maple syrup, to go with one's morning waffles and latte. Obviously. -L
  7. Welcome to BZP! Thanks for contributing to the topic. Variations in mask codes have been known for a long time, although I had completely forgotten about it until you posted here. But I do remember being aware of this years ago. A more obvious example is the four variations of the infected Hau Nuva, which some find difficult to tell apart from the exteriors. The codes are consistent across the four versions, allowing people to tell them apart definitively. With regards to whether a collection is complete or incomplete, it's really a question of how obsessive a person wants to be. I know some people who are content calling their collections "complete" if they have everything that was widely available, not accounting for codes. Others call it finished when they have all the normal items plus everything in the first two categories in this topic's first post. Some are only happy when they have everything listed in the first post. You can take it to a further extreme, namely that a collection isn't complete until it includes every collectible ever designed by LEGO. But there have been hundreds of prototypes that never left the design studio, and by that standard, no collection can ever be objectively complete. Like I said, it depends entirely on a person's definition of "complete." Personally, I'm not interested in finishing my collection of ordinary pieces; I focus on collecting rare and unusual pieces. It's a lot less stressful and I find it more interesting. Although a collection that takes codes into account would be impressive, most people - myself included - don't really see the point of going to those lengths. We have neither the time nor the money to dedicate to that kind of goal. But if you've managed to finish your collection in that way, I salute you, because that's really amazing. All this being said, this is an interesting detail that I'll mention in the first post of this topic. I have a mental list of updates that need doing, so I'll add this when I get around to the others. If you have items you'd like to sell, you can make a topic in this forum (Buy/Sell/Trade) listing what you have. -L
  8. You just need to make sure you've reached escape velocity. That way you'll continue on into deep space and maybe be discovered and resurrected by an alien race in a million years or so. -L
  9. For uploading a photo? Try Brickshelf. Also, updates to the first post coming... soonish. -Letagi
  10. If someone outside the US wins, I would advise against using UPS or any other courier. Use USPS. UPS legally has to charge import taxes, and they have their own processing fees which are paid upon receipt, so the winner will end up paying as much as they would by just buying the set themselves. UPS is also completely incompetent and there's a good chance the prize will never be seen again. -L
  11. At first I thought the entire content of this entry would be "Switch back to Windows 8." -L
  12. BricksCascade was fun. Portland was great. Being 21 was nice. Hi Pat. -L
  13. I think I remember seeing it at BrickCon one year, but I don't remember if it was Kelly. Could have been though, or maybe it was done more than once. Maybe this is something to do with those 6000 green 2x4s we apparently have? -L

    Hello blog

Forgot I had this thing for a while. UPDATES Going to BricksCascade. Life is good. Greek philosophy is cool. -L
  16. I loved that game. Could never quite finish it, though. The last two or so levels proved insurmountable. -L
  17. I got a few pictures of it, if anyone wants some more I can provide them. -snip- Pretty sure all gold and silver Kakama (along with all the other gold and silver masks from the 2002 mask packs) are like this. It's a property of the colors they used, Yellow Flip/Flop and Silver Flip/Flop. Solid-colored when lit from in front, translucent when backlit. Great photos, though — I haven't seen a lot of photos that show off this ability quite this well. Ah well. It probably still is one of my rarest pieces. Thanks for the info! The first picture you posted does make it look a little lighter in colour than it should be. There have been at least two translucent gold Kaukau misprints found, so this could be similar. If you ever come across another gold Kakama, compare it with yours - that'll tell us whether it's a misprint. -Letagi

    BrickFair Funk

The best and worst thing I've ever seen on BZP. -L
  19. I don't think either of them is doing much buying these days. Besides, it'd be nice to see a rare collection like this end up with someone who doesn't already have almost everything. Anyways - this is really impressive, especially the fact that you guys compiled two collections. I don't think I'd even heard of these before - I'll have to add them to the Official Rare/Promo Collectibles Topic when I get the chance. -Letagi
  20. You have nothing to worry about. A minor defect won't impact the value much. As for having been opened, the cases aren't actually sealed and so opening one has no impact whatsoever on the value. -Letagi
  21. I have to agree with Nescent - that looks like the normal flat dark gold to me, not the rare pearl light gold. The photography makes it look lighter than it really is. -Letagi

    Hello, all.

*ahem* Really though, blogs are for whatever you want, or nothing at all. I use mine whenever the need or want arises, but I don't feel obligated to post anything. -L
  23. His use of incorrect pluralization of "Lego" is infuriating. -L
