  1. She's to blame for so much in my life. Tell her I said hi. I never left! The idea was definitely to get the weird proportions and the exposed elements, and I'm glad they were apparent.
  2. There is a squadron of similar units in the Riot Division. This one here is merely Ophelia, who has been promoted beyond them as a bodyguard. I mean I guess? I half-baked a story for funsies loosely based on old BZP BBC pop-culture and history. No I totally understand. If I had my way, I would have used the head feathers from the old Islander sets if I had more! Naw, you got it all wrong. Prizes and winning are neat, but it's building to the theme that's super fun and worthwhile. This challenge forced me to build outside of a comfort zone, and that in itself is worth it. Besides, the contests are always more fun the more entries there are! (Besides, when the chips are down I do notoriously terrible in the polls)
  3. Takanuva has the same legs and arms as Gali Nuva. That and the yellow eyes, she's clearly the one to become the Toa of Light. Mmmm. Smell that? That's vintage.
  4. A ground-based unit specializing in law enforcement, used only in the most dire of civil unrest. While considered a relic these days, the Riot Guard is still a staple of the Monarchy's iron-clad rule. This particular unit, designated Ophelia-Prime, has the most decorated and extensive career record, and was chosen by The Monarch to serve as Her Personal Royal Bodyguard. The Riot Guard is a technical marvel, requiring no maintenance during their entire service history. The inventor behind their creation disappeared long ago, and no record exists of their design or his fate. However, citizens have been known to whisper every rumor between mad science gone wrong and corporate ninja assassinations. Entry for BZPower's BBC# 73: Brickin' It Old School! The purpose of the contest was to build something visually from the early 2000s. Former BBC moderator Jinzoningen 73 used to make all these different types of robots called Riotfleas. I wanted to use this contest to celebrate the weirdness that was these MOCs and others, mixed with a lot of the ways I have improved since then. There are a few liberties being taken here of course, but I feel it captures a lot of the iconic styles that existed when the BBC forum was thriving with all sorts of wacky and cool ideas! 5. Brickshelf is having one of its infamous temper tantrums right now. It will likely be back later.
  6. Fair dues I just wanted to blather on about why I thought it made sense the first time and that G2 can still do That Thing because it hasn't even remotely approached happening yet. Unless "I have the power" is a more broader statement than we were led to believe.
  7. I disagree to an extent. I really enjoyed the mask hunting, in the context that it was ultimately training a rookie team of Toa. There were obstacles and challenges. They could not get all of their masks alone. They were forced begrudgingly to co-operate, and it built into their character as they grew both individually as well as a team. The story team promptly forgot this was the reason kids liked that in 2002 when suddenly they now had to get the Nuva masks even though they learned teamwork and they could share those powers after Krana for some reason? The Reboot was clearly getting super ready to tell the story of the Toa getting their golden masks but only animated Tahu (with mixed results) and did a super short novelization on the rest. "But Makaru, you Adonis and philosopher," I can hear you cry, "what would you have done?" Honestly, all the groundwork was laid out really well. A mysterious and dangerous new island. Just... I dunno, tell that story? Give ample focus on each Toa's quest, and their progression. I loved the [criminally short] interactions in the book between the protectors and their Toa. We were subliminally tricked into thinking these characters were Turaga, only to be shown they were strong and capable. Give us more of them I guess?
  8. Shucks, just posted the perfect thing for this, too. Ah well, any excuse to build more!
  9. Tangentially related, here's a powder-actuated nail driver for all your gunhammer needs
  10. I definitely love this Kaita over your G1 incarnate, but I guess that's the bonus part about having a better parts selection. I feel like the shoulders are the highlight, being very shapely and complex but still matching the flow of the rest of the body. I feel like more could be done with the arms. I feel like there could be more weight to them. Though I do love you segregated the blue and green for that "unified" feel. I really get that there are three toa in here instead of one super toa. The weapons are also a nice combination, and I really love the (trident?). I don't think I'm going to ge sick of the stud launchers as quickly as the sphere launchers of old because there are so many ways to use them. I also love the gattling gun-totin' uniter creature you've made as well! Well above and beyond the usual Kaita builds. And I like that it actually brings the best of what each creature offers. Wish he was a little bit taller and beefier in the arms dept. but above all else excellent work from you as usual!
  11. Garbage anime memes. Happy Birthday, Windrider!

    I'm building

I am so happy you are working on this <3
  14. All the files are still on the site... somewhere? Ray doesn't know how to fix it (it's not his site), but all the content is still backed up somewhere. As for the state of the comic, it's pretty much over. Not much more to be said on that.
  15. A robotic Guardian design for the defunct fan comic BZPStuck. The "parent" and main antagonist for the character Brian Lawson. Initially a deactivated Temple Guardian, Brian retrofitted it with personal computer capabilities. Has a "Hard Mode" setting. Inspired by Onua as well as the character D0G from Half Life 2. I wanted to experiment with something that was both extremely technical like heavy machinery as well as something frail and clumsy looking. Flickr Gallery
