I'm just trying to work out the internal structures necessary to stack those shoulder pads. Great layering texture, and good balance of colour and additional design. I like the tubey worms, are those the crinoids?

Straight freaky. Good fidelity to the source material. The implied motion of the wheels is superb with the angled offsets, and the construction of the wings with eyes is dynamic enough without overwhelming the design.

a collection of various matoran hard at work
Torran replied to Resentful Knight Endolf's topic in Bionicle-Based Creations
Love the unique styles while maintaining a cohesion across all the Matoran. Clymene, Fong, and Raud are my favourites, and vary quite a bit between each. Smart work with the mushrooms on the Botanist and I appreciate the branching out with color palette for a Ga-Matoran. The orange reminds me of Gali Uniter of Water, so even there's some canon to it! -
What makes him a Toa Chrono? What is the significance of the trans-blue and trans-orange on each arm? What gave him a stinger? I'm reminded of the Kikanalo Hordika (BS01 link) with your use of the Nuva shoulder armor as a face. Was that an inspiration or a coincidence?

Insane. Just wild. Don't miss that you can click on the images for more shots! Highlights: Gali is a submarine Lewa's custom mask Lerahk's removable kraata down through the whole face-spine The Rahkshi looked kind of cute before - now I'm terrified That Ussanui All around incredible shaping, blocking, and story-telling just from the parts and poses. Bionicle - The Hottest Christmas Toy of Two Decades Ago
Torran replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Onua Mata was my first set, in 2002, with my siblings some of the other Toa. I was the only one who really collected but started around 2004, so I missed a lot of the early sets. Which leads to one of my favourite Christmas gifts ever. I remember my parents getting me a sealed 8593 Makuta (at the time, the only Makuta we knew) some 6 years after he was retired. I opened the wrapping and sat with my mouth open for a few seconds before even turning the box over. Winter 2005 my siblings and I each got a Piraka in our stocking. That was also a lot of fun since they were the 2006 wave so it felt like I was getting a sneak peek! -
Track Your Kanohi and Krana Collection
Torran replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
I love this. The images are large and crisp. Would love to see more masks added. There's also an element of lore as we get to click off which masks we've collected - feels like we're making progress with the Toa as they went on their own quest for the masks on Mata Nui! -
It never ceases to amaze me when builders manage to use these hulking specialized parts. The three gargantuan mask elements are well incorporated in their own right, but the use of a canister is brilliantly refreshing. Your consistency and ability to create using (at least outwardly) only black and trans-neon green is remarkable. There's so much to take in. I wonder if there would have been benefit to run a couple more dual-molded tubes from the body around the neck to the head. Of course this could be explained away in the practical "I used all my tubes already" or the in-universe explanation "the creature has tubes encased in the neck". Beyond that, the overall spirit of this creature is unnerving and imposing, especially with the inclusion of the skeleton for scale. The multiple eyes and flowing acid throughout the body also lends to the otherworldly nature, raising the question if this creature was always like this or if it was altered by the chemical compound within. The size and tripod build might suggest inspiration from War of the Worlds?

Great to have a space still living and breathing the legends. Also just noticed the new spinny - great choice! 🥳

Official BBC Contest #81 Voting!

Great selection. All the best to everyone. I also just noticed and find it ironic that the prizes are Fire characters. But nice prizes nonetheless! -
Official SBC Contest #4 Voting!

Great submissions. Nice to see a spread through the years. Interesting that two Kurahks were made, and still with such unique elements each. Best to the contestants! -
Official SBC Contest 4: The Gift That Keeps On Giving!
Torran replied to Tufi Piyufi's topic in System-Based Creations
Gotta admit, with an opportunity like this to get a mask like either winner, I'm sad I didn't catch the entry period! Best of luck to all. -
Quite an inspired build. Making use of the Terrain Crawler mask is phenomenal. Great shape with some unique pieces, especially all the Toa Mata arms as the hull. The neon highlights, even as flags, helps it all pop. Great work.

BZPower's Best Bionicle Toa Bracket
Torran replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Opening up with Tahu v Matoro told me this would be tough. Seeing Onua v Lhikan destroyed me. This will certainly be a fun - and challenging - competition! -
That's a very dynamic piece by Woomy World. Great work. Looking forward to #81!

Official BBC Contest #79: >enter building contest!
Torran replied to Tufi Piyufi's topic in Bionicle-Based Creations
Glad to see these contests still happening. I came across the topic a couple weeks back but couldn't access my pieces in time. I'll keep my eyes open for the next one! -
I was just talking to my brother (who is very into LEGO but not at all into Bionicle) about all the things that took the forums by storm here back in the day. Was a pleasant memory. Thanks for your dedication to the site, the fans here, and the community. Looking forward to what may come!

Congrats to the winners. Le-Koro is a beast of a build.
-
Went with Le-Koro Platform, although some inspired builds across the board. The Birth of a Dark Hunter is honestly a terrifying take on Nidhiki's transformation. The half-transformed state he's in... tragic.

Nice renders. The heads look a little small, but maybe that's because I'm used to the chonky full-body pieces. Although I like the way the body is raised higher than the head, adds more level of depth to the model. What program did you use for these?

I just finished another playthrough of Portal 2 a couple of days ago. Must be a sign! This IDEA is incredibly detailed. I'm a big fan of the extending panels, they really capture the behind-the-scenes nature of Aperture and the anticipation that things could change in a moment's notice. Same with the inclusion of back railings. The faith-plate is a great play feature. The boxy exit chamber and observation room feel a little out of place with the rest of the thin-panel design. I like that it can take minifigs, but I wonder if having more than just one open side would have been more playable. Love the minifig selection!

Always Keep Your Mask on While Krana are Around
Torran replied to Hapori Tohu's topic in BZPower.com News Discussion
Not sure how, but Onua looked surprised when he saw Lewa at first. Great artwork. Kinda feel bad for the Lehvak Va at the end...
