The other guy wips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says, "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make shure he's dead." There is a silence, and then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says, "Okay, now what?"

Star Wars Timeline (Soary if there are any mistakes, I haven't read it all myself yet):

c. 5,000,000,000 BBY
The Star Wars galaxy is formed by the gravitational collapse of a large cloud of dust and gas. A Jedi serving Revan as general, later called the Exile, willfully severs all ties to the Force to end the pain caused by the thousands of deaths at the Battle of Malachor V. The Exile is called to Coruscant to answer for defying the Jedi Council, and is banished when the Council learns of the general's willful abandonment of the Force.
Revan and Malak disappear. Shortly after this time, Revan and Malak fall to the Dark Side, each assuming the title of Sith Lord and adding Darth to their names. The tradition of using "Darth" as a prefix for a Sith name is used often, but certainly not by all Sith Lords for the next 3,000 years.
HK-47 is built by Revan.
3,959 BBY
Revan and Malak, who have been seduced by the dark side, declare war on the Republic. The New Sith War begins, lasting for over a thousand years.
1,031 BBY
The Battle of Ruusan. The remaining Sith are exterminated on Ruusan, with the exception of Darth Bane, who starts a new Sith Order with only one master and one apprentice at a time. Furthermore as part of his own reformation of the Sith Order, Darth Bane institutes the tradition that all Sith names shall begin with "Darth", a previously common but not universal appellation. The site of the final confrontation of the battle becomes the legendary Valley of the Jedi.
The Senate passes the Ruusan Reformation, setting the year of the Battle of Ruusan to the year zero.
1,000 BBY
Thousand year peace begins, Jedi Order accepts new laws.

The Battle of Ruusan
896 BBY
Yoda, arguably the greatest Jedi Master ever to exist, is born on an unknown planet. Chewbacca pledges a life-debt to Han Solo and remains his partner for the next three decades.
3 BBY
Star Wars: Empire at War
Several allied anti-Imperial resistance movements that will lead to the Rebel Alliance increase their activity against the Empire, slowly escalating from small-scale guerilla activity to more organized and direct confrontation.
2 BBY
The Rebel Alliance takes shape with the signing of the Corellian Treaty and the Declaration of Rebellion in the Cantham House Meetings on Coruscant; and the Corellian System Meetings between Mon Mothma, Bail Organa and Garm Bel Iblis, unifying their disparate resistance efforts into one organization.

[edit] At the time of the Battle of Yavin (1 BBY/ABY)
1 BBY
Bail Organa retires from the Galactic/Imperial Senate after 31 years and his adopted daughter Leia is appointed to serve his unexpired term as Senator of Alderaan until the Senate election that is due the following year.
Much of the senior staff and design team of Incom Corporation defect to the Rebel Alliance, most notably bringing with them the plans and prototypes for the T-65 X-Wing starfighter that was under development.
Operation Skyhook; the first major victory of the Rebel Alliance over the Galactic Empire. A coordinated effort across the entire Rebellion including communication satellites captured and reprogrammed by the Rebel fleet as well as a commando raid undertaken by Kyle Katarn leads to the theft of the plans to the Death Star with the help of Rianna Saren and the Rebellion being aware of the construction of the superweapon.
0
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Princess Leia's blockade runner the Tantive IV is captured by Darth Vader and droids C-3PO and R2-D2 land on Tatooine and come into the service of Luke Skywalker.
Luke finds and receives Obi-Wan's secret message from R2-D2.
A squad of Imperial Stormtroopers kill a sandcrawler of Jawas, and massacre Owen and Beru Lars, Luke Skywalker's uncle and aunt, leaving him without any immediate family (except for his sister, who was then unknown to be his sister and his father, Darth Vader, who was then unknown to be his father). That motivated him to become a Jedi. At first, Luke Skywalker thought the Sandpeople killed the Jawas, but Obi-Wan Kenobi's closer inspection revealed that the Imperial Stormtroopers killed them, and were responsible for killing the Larses.
The Imperial Senate is disbanded, giving Palpatine absolute power. Officially it is "Suspended for the Duration of the Galactic Emergency", but this euphemism fools nobody. Even Palpatine's loyalists know the Imperial Senate will never meet again.
After Leia refuses to disclose the location of the rebel base, Grand Moff Tarkin orders the Death Star to destroy her home world of Alderaan, killing her adoptive father, Bail Organa. Garm Bel Iblis soon leaves the Rebel Alliance due to disagreements with Mon Mothma, taking some of his forces, although most of his troops remain with the Alliance. This leaves Mon Mothma as the leader of the Rebel Alliance.
Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi meet Han Solo and Chewbacca in Tatooine, and the latter agree to transport them to Alderaan with C-3PO and R2-D2. While traveling, they are captured by the Death Star's tractor beam. R2-D2 finds out that Princess Leia is being held prisoner in the space station. Luke Skywalker and Han Solo rescue Princess Leia.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader have their final duel, resulting in the death of Kenobi, but his spirit lives on as he becomes one with the Force.
The Battle of Yavin. Luke Skywalker destroys the Death Star before it can destroy the Rebel base on Yavin 4, with the assistance of Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi's spirit. Luke Skywalker and Han Solo join the Rebel Alliance. Grand Moff Tarkin and Admiral Motti die in the destruction of the Death Star, and Darth Vader becomes Palpatine's ruthless second-in-command.

[edit] After the Battle of Yavin (ABY)
1 ABY
The Super Star Destroyer Executor is launched under the command of Captain Kendal Ozzel. It is dispatched to destroy the Rebel base on Yavin, but a miscalculation by Admiral Griff allows the Rebels to escape. Ozzel is promoted to Admiral and Piett assumes position of Captain of the Executor.
Bakura joins the Empire.
2 ABY
An Imperial force led by Darth Vader catches up to some of the Rebels on Ord Mantell. It is here that Darth Vader learns the name of the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star, Luke Skywalker. While on Ord Mantell, a bounty hunter working for Jabba the Hutt nearly captures Han Solo.
The Imperials stage an Ambush at Derra IV on a Rebel convoy. The loss was a terrible blow to the Alliance.
Rebels build a base on Hoth.
3 ABY
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Luke experiences a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi in which he is instructed to go to the Dagobah system and receive training from the Jedi Master Yoda.
In the Rebel medical bay Leia kisses Luke in front of Han Solo.
On the Super Star Destroyer Executor Darth Vader identifies the sixth planet of the Hoth System as the Rebel Base and begins his pursuit of Luke Skywalker.
Vader asphyxiates Admiral Ozzel for incompetence and promotes Captain Piett to the rank of Admiral.
The Battle of Hoth. The Empire attacks the Rebel Base using AT-AT Walkers. Swiftly, the Rebels are forced to evacuate. Despite many acts of heroism in the evacuation and defense of the base, the Rebels suffer many casualties.
Leia Organa escapes the siege with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and C-3P0 on the Millennium Falcon. The Falcon's hyperdrive malfunctions and they are forced to hide in an asteroid field.
In pursuit of the Millennium Falcon, Admiral Piett and Vader suffer heavy losses in the asteroid field.
Luke discovers Yoda on Dagobah and begins his Jedi training. He receives a disturbing vision in a duel with a spectral Darth Vader where he sees his own face in Vader's severed head. He also expresses disbelief when Yoda raises his submerged X-Wing out of a swamp using only the Force.
After another period of pursuit, Solo attaches the Falcon to the hull of a Star Destroyer in an effort to evade detection. Boba Fett successfully anticipates Han Solo's strategy of escaping with the Empire's garbage. He pursues the Falcon as it makes its way to Cloud City, where Han is counting on his old friend Lando Calrissian for sanctuary. Alerted by Boba Fett, Vader arrives on Cloud City shortly before the Falcon.
Luke begins to receives visions of the past and future while training with Yoda. He experiences an alarming vision of Han and Leia in pain, in "a city in the clouds." Against the counsels of Yoda and Obi-Wan he decides for himself that he must go to help his friends. Obi-Wan tells him he cannot interfere in his impending duel with Darth Vader. Luke promises to come back to Dagobah and complete his training. As Luke flies away for Cloud City, Obi-Wan expresses grief that Luke was their last hope. Yoda then reveals that "there is another."
Solo, Chewbacca, Leia and C-3P0 receive a warm welcome from Lando, but Leia doesn't trust him. C-3P0 is quickly shot to pieces by a Stormtrooper in a hidden alcove. He is discovered later by Chewbacca, but before he can be repaired, Lando leads Solo, Chewie and Leia to a banquet room where they are delivered to Darth Vader. Lando tells Han that Vader gave him no choice.
Han Solo is tortured by Vader, thereby sending shockwaves through the Force of Luke's friends being in pain. Solo later remarks that he was never asked any questions. Vader agrees to give Solo to Boba Fett to take to Jabba the Hutt, thereby breaking his agreement with Lando that Solo would not be harmed or handed over to anyone else.
Chewbacca partially repairs C-3P0 in a detention cell but cannot re-attach his legs before he, Han Solo and Leia are taken to the carbon freezing chamber. He bundles C-3P0 in a netting which he wears on his back.
Darth Vader tests Cloud City's carbon freezing unit on Han Solo in anticipation of freezing Luke for his journey to Emperor Palpatine. Solo survives the freezing, in a state of perfect hibernation. Boba Fett escapes Cloud City in the Slave 1.
Lando with the help of his aide Lobot help Leia, Chewbacca and C-3P0 escape their Imperial captors. He alerts the population of Cloud City to the arrival of the Imperial troops. Lobot remains behind while Lando leads them to the Millennium Falcon.
Luke confronts Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel in the carbon freezing chamber. Luke escapes being frozen, and the duel moves to the edge of Cloud City's central wind tunnel. Luke is defeated when Vader severs his hand at the wrist and sends both the hand and his lightsaber flying into the abyss. Vader takes advantage of Luke's state of weakness to tell him that he is his father. After Luke cries out in shock and disbelief, Vader asks him to search his feelings. After a moment of reflection, Luke chooses to fall down the wind tunnel instead of take Vader's hand and accept his offer to "rule the galaxy as father and son."
Hanging perilously from a weather vane, Luke reaches out to Leia with the Force and she hears his plea. Luke is rescued by the Falcon, and Vader continues to reach out to Luke through the Force. His claim to be Luke's father remains ambiguous as the Falcon escapes the Empire's clutches.
Chewbacca and Lando begin the search for Han in the Falcon. Luke, Leia and the droids remain on the Rebel Medical Frigate. C-3P0 is fully repaired while Luke receives a robotic hand.
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
Bothan spies learn that a second Death Star is under construction, and warn the Rebellion of its location.
Luke Skywalker goes to Obi-Wan's hut in Tatooine to build a new (green) lightsaber. The lightsaber was similar to Obi-Wan's lightsaber because Obi-Wan has his own lightsaber building instructions at his hut.
Dash Rendar blows up the Black Sun Skyhook and is thought to be killed in the attack, though in fact he has survived.
Prince Xizor is killed by Darth Vader and Black Sun collapses.
4 ABY
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Han Solo is rescued on Tatooine from Jabba the Hutt by Lando Calrissian, who was disguised as one of Jabba's guards, Leia Organa, who is disguised as a bounty hunter that wanted to buy Han Solo and is later captured trying to free him, and Luke Skywalker, who arrives as a Jedi Knight and is cast into a pit with a fearsome Rancor, which Luke kills.
Jabba the Hutt is killed by Leia Organa. Boba Fett is swallowed by the Sarlacc, but later escapes by detonating his rocket jet-pack and is later rescued by the bounty hunter Dengar. Warlords begin to wage war over Jabba's criminal empire.
Luke returns to Dagobah to keep the promise he made to Yoda to complete his training. Yoda dies of old age (900 years) after confirming that Darth Vader is Luke's father, and also tells of another Skywalker. Luke senses that Leia Organa is his sister as he talks with the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who confirms that Luke's feeling are correct. Luke later passes this information on to Leia on the forest moon of Endor.
The Battle of Endor. The Rebels amass their forces to launch a surprise attack on the second Death Star.
Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa, and a small group of Rebel soldiers are dispatched to the forest moon of Endor to destroy the second Death Star's shield generator.
Emperor Palpatine knows the Rebel attack is coming and that Luke Skywalker and a small group of Rebels are going to the forest moon of Endor to destroy the shield generator and sets a trap.
Once on the forest moon of Endor, Luke Skywalker knows that he is endangering the mission because Darth Vader has sensed his presence on the moon. Luke then turns himself in at the Imperial base, claiming he came to meet his father, Darth Vader. Darth Vader then takes Luke to the Death Star to meet the Emperor and try to turn him to the Dark Side.
With the knowledge of the incoming Rebel attack, Emperor Palpatine amasses most of the Imperial Navy around the Death Star. And unbeknownst to the Rebels, the Death Star is now fully operational.
On the forest moon of Endor, Imperial ground forces have already been alerted of the Rebel attempt to try to destroy the Death Star shield generator.
The Rebel fleet arrives at the Death Star and realizes that it is a trap. Intense fighting ensues.
At the Death Star shield generator on the moon of Endor, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa and the other Rebel soldiers are surrounded by Imperial forces, but an attack is led by the Ewoks against the Imperial forces, and the Rebel forces and Ewoks win the battle. Han Solo and the Rebel forces then blow up the Death Star shield generator.
Lando Calrissian, Wedge Antilles and Nien Nunb destroy the second Death Star, virtually ending the Galactic Civil War. The Empire is brought to an end and begins to tear itself apart through warlordism. Admiral Piett dies when the Executor crashes into the Death Star.
Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker fulfills the prophecy that he would bring balance to the Force by eliminating the Sith, yet doing so he dies himself. Luke cremates Anakin's body on Endor. The whole galaxy celebrates the victory against the Empire. Luke then sees the spirits of his father Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda during the celebration on Endor.
Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura
The Rebel Alliance becomes the Alliance of Free Planets and recruits systems across the galaxy for the reformation of the Republic.
Battle of Bakura: First ceasefire between Alliance and Imperial forces, though only so they could unite to drive away the Ssi-Ruuk invaders. Bakura leaves the Empire.
The spectral form of Anakin Skywalker briefly appears to Leia Organa.
One month after the Battle of Endor, Mon Mothma declares the restoration of the Old Galactic Republic; the Alliance of Free Planets becomes the New Republic. (Date locked by the Essential Chronology)
Sate Pestage, Palpatine's Grand Vizier and Head of Government, takes over as the de facto ruler of the Galactic Empire.
5 ABY
Luke Skywalker attains the rank of General.
