i used to hover between extremes modesty-wise - i went from egotistical to having very little self esteem, but i've been at a much healthier level over the past couple of months, which is cool

A healthy amount of self-esteem is a good thing, I'm happy for you. Really am. Mine suffered a bit due to studying physics and realizing that I'm not actually *that* clever... ^^

i know that feeling, i felt like that most of last year when i found myself in the highest maths and science classes (which would be enough for most people), but suddenly discovered that most of the people there were much better than me

this year i managed to be happy for other people's successes and just work on improving myself, though, which is probably a much better way to look at it
