  1. The helicopter set uses one on its nose in addition to the minifigure one, so there's a chance it'll find more widespread use. And there's always things like LUGBULK.
  2. Eventually! Seems there's a fancy new part coming out soon. 1x2 place with hollow studs and rounded corners. Along with all the other neat things it could be used for, one thing I want to see it used for is some kind of flag or banner material. From what little I know of the techniques, most "curve" builds use a mix of 1x3 plates and 1x1 round plates or some staggered arrangement of 1x2s and 1x1 rounds. But the new piece looks like it could maybe provide a much simpler, better-looking, and more stable way of doing that. I'm sure it'll be good for other compact curve uses too, like cylindrical shapes. Just want to get this thought out there.
  3. Got some nice mail today.
  4. Starting year 3 in episode 15!
  5. I've posed blog entries about my traditional Labor Day trip before, but here's some things I tweetered about it this year. It features pictures.
  6. The Praetorian Guard looks fantastic, and I am so happy to see the shin piece expand into more colors. Blue next please.
  7. Been playing it pretty consistently since I got it. Usually there are a few hours in the morning I can squeeze in. So far my top hero playtimes are: - trashmouse - ^__^ >__< x__x - combat frog - justice bird - ghost boy - the cavalry - grandma Check out my sweet achievements I guess. Got some fun skins and things from the Summer Games but I want to unlock ALL THE EMOTES. In time, I guess. But Halloween is coming up, so I have that to look forward too.
  8. snek? snek! sneeeeeeeeeeek Had some dumb recording lag during parts of it even though the game seemed to be running fine. Bleh.
  9. So, I bought it today. My laptop can't run it, but I'm living with some people and one of them is letting me use her computer for it sometimes. I'm not very good at it. Yet! But I did get a play of the game once so that was fun. Orisa and Junkrat are leading in play time, followed by Pharah and Tracer and then a little bit of a few others. also:
  10. And I love my several million rotund cleaning sons.
  11. Nah, I just thought "cool!" and that his shoulders looked kind of like flowers for some reason. I did think Kopaka's head worked like this though:
  12. Making some redirects to some MOC topics. Now they're easy to access with just a simple URL! Will probably do this from now on, if I remember to at least. http://boston.bfaho.me http://clock.bfaho.me http://piano.bfaho.me http://nautilus.bfaho.me http://thing.bfaho.me
  13. For the Rebrick "Dream Skylines" contest: The top of 111 Huntington Ave. (second from left) was originally going to be sausages, but LDD is a doody head program and the sausage connections wouldn't work in the stud holes. Which is a bummer, because they looked so much better than what's here. Also the last render is way too dark but whatever, you get the idea.
  14. I've been doing a lot of walking and a bit of jogging recently, and coupled with that comes a lot of time listening to the few music albums I actually own. I've long had the feeling that The Glitch Mob's music fit very well into the world of BIONICLE, and I've also had the notion of how I'd like to see the first three years of the BIONICLE story adapted into a proper film trilogy. So from this I've decided to go ahead and just write up a film treatment of the 2001 story as a start. I have no experience doing this and all I have so far is a list of the major events in the story as it was, but I'm really interested in working out a way for all the different plot lines that were spread across lots of media to come together in a coherent narrative. (Really the most interesting one to do would be 2003, and I already have some senses about what that would be like, but first things first I guess.)
  15. Remember those couple of times when someone's browser cache would mess up and the images on the page would be switched around so instead of the site banner they'd see a repeating image of like the guy from Green Day or something? Those were fun threads. Also, once I changed my name from Bfahome to Bfahome just to see if I could. I didn't intend on ever changing it to anything but "Bfahome" but then one day I woke up and I was Test Subject Barbie. So that broke my streak and opened me up to participating in later name changes, where I got to indulge my enjoyment of Silverwing a little bit. Also I guess I have one of the biggest blogs on the site?? Comes from my early days of "I'm gonna post an entry every day!" silliness. First blog to 10k comments too, also probably related to previous. Hey remember majhost? Remember when it used to just be maj? And then they changed the site name and it broke everyone's images so the BZP admins were like "okay, here's a new word filter that changes maj dot com to majhost dot com so you can just hit 'edit' and then 'submit' on your posts and stuff and not have to worry about changing all the image urls individually"? And then the people running majhost were just like "ok nah, no site anymore" and everyone's images vanished. That was a fun story arc. Also the two BrickFairs I attended were pretty neat, meeting people IRL. Was sort of an outsider in some ways because I wasn't privy to all the in-jokes and groupings that formed offsite over time but was still interesting.
  16. The lack of official (available) MoUP piece makes it unlikely, unless LEGO gives us some help. Plus I think its time may have passed by next year. We'll have to see what the future holds.
  17. It's probably because of the standard "white vs. black is light vs. dark" trope. I don't think they ran much of a risk of confusing him with Kopaka, either, because his color scheme was all-white with gold armor rather than white and gray with silver armor, plus the last Kopaka set was two waves before him.
  18. Episode 12 up now, featuring correct title card maybe! What the game causes in gameplay frustration it makes up for in the opportunity for editing snarkiness.
  19. Cool that we get the chance for another fun majhost scenario. Though at least all the pics are all still there, just unable to be embedded without P A Y M E N T.
  20. I think people need to move past the idea that BIONICLE must necessarily continue, that it's somehow always right there below the surface just waiting to be unleashed. It was successful for a while, but there appears to be a trend of constraction losing its popularity. Who knows, we may see it in the future, but it also may be that we've moved past the point where it would have any major cultural interest, like what happened with the monorail sets.
  21. Back in 2001 I didn't end up getting Tahu until after I'd gotten the other 5 Toa. I'd started with Lewa and then went for Gali and Kopaka to make Wairuha, but after that the next few times I looked in some stores their stocks were low and I only found, like, a single Onua or Pohatu. Pretty sure a similar thing happened with Tahnok, because I remember wanting to emulate the scene from the comics where they were climbing up a cliff by melting handholds into it but not having one. Not particularly "elusive" but at 8 or 9 I wasn't particularly able or versed in the ways of finding products. Nowadays the aftermarket has made it fairly easy to find things. I did end up getting a foam Onua claw from BrickLink once though, and I don't remember seeing anything else about it elsewhere.
