Not necessarily like that, though that would work. ANother way would be to take an existing continuity, and turn it into a post apocalyptic setting, where the factions have all but dissolved.

My theory is that the concept of Transformers in and of itself doesn't make for an RPG.

It's too concrete, too unilateral. You can be a 'Bot, a 'Con, or a neutral and the war drives the whole thing. The war is the one big conflict. It relies too much on skirmishes and large scale battles to be fun.

If one wants to survive, it needs to be fresh, more sandbox, more interesting. No offense to Alignment, it's really fun, but it didn't have that.

It's not literally dead just yet. But it's been losing steam for a while, and with two of it's more prominent members/staff gone, I don't have high hopes for its survival.

Not that I did in the first place. I've got a theory about Transformers RPGs, and so far it's being proven right.

That's why you don't get a tissue. You keep your eyes on them, and slowly reach for the nearest book or shoe. In some cases, you can even take the shoe off of your foot. This way, you have a weapon, and you know where the blighter is. Then, you approach, and WHAM!

Then again, this might only work in my house where there is always a book within arms reach. XD
