  1. Posting a MOC here, seeing as I haven't posted since January (well, barring BBC74 of course)! In fact, I started this a week after I posted Anubis, God of Judgment. The all-famous Ancient Egyptian God of Skies, the Sun, and War. Horus_1 by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr One of my favorite mythological deities (not least because of my origin, mind you ). For as long as I have been MOCing, I've always tried to render Horus in whatever way my imagination would let me. It wasn't until recently that I decided to try my hand at a more classical interpretation, which I think turned out quite well. He's meant to be wearing the Crown of the Kingdom. It was a bipartite crown, made of the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt, celebrating the unification of both ancient Kingdoms. Let me know what you guys think! Be sure to check out my photostream on Flickr for more photos (click my name below the photo)!
  2. Not too fond of this one. The proportions look a bit strange IMHO, as though the head is too big for the body.
  3. My entry to BBC #74: The Dark Side of the Brick! BBC74: B2 Super Battle Droid by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr I had been wanting to build one of these bad boys for a while now, particularly during BBC #72, but then I discovered that Darth Maul head and things were never the same again. With this, I wanted to capture the general shape while keeping the appearance as coherent as possible. The occasional red pins are intentional; they add a bit of an accent to an otherwise pretty monotone creation. And it's not helped by the fact that the background is almost the same color. More pictures soon.
  4. Excellent work! This is exactly what I wanted to see in this contest. This captures the look so effortlessly, and the head is built to perfection. Though I can't help but wonder why you didn't use the prefab lightsaber blade in trans-red; I think it would have added a little extra "oomph" to the photography. Best of luck in the contest!
  5. Truly worthy of being featured material. Epic job on all of them. They are all impressively cohesive, in terms of design and color scheme.
  6. This is genius! I love the shaping throughout, and particularly how you did the rolled up fist using the 2x2 round plate. Very well done!
  7. That's actually brilliant. At first glance I couldn't tell what they were.
  8. Truly glorious stuff! I really like how you did the plume on the end of the tail. And the minifigs are a great accompaniment.
  9. Thanks a ton! I'm really glad you like it! Hahaha I was beginning to lose faith in ever getting featured again. It's a huge honor to have another MOC reach the frontpage!
  10. Quite a few actually, though none that stress pieces excessively. The Ankh (vertical clip holding the 2x2 round plate), the arm padding on the back of the arm (held using officail Lego elastic bands), and the wings on the headdress (held by clips with bars from an illegal point of connection). Thanks for everyone's feedback! I might post a how-to on the skirt in the near future.
  11. My newest MOC to date. It's been particularly well received on Flickr so I thought I should see how it fares on here! Anubis by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Some more pics: Anubis_DANCE! by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Anubis_side by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Fourth Wall I chose to try and make it as faithful to its general appearance as possible, and consequently it propagates a lot of the general aesthetics of several different renditions of the Ancient Deity. So that's everything. Let me know what you think! Also, let me know which rendition you prefer!
  12. Spectacular paint job! The mask appears to have great quality, and I like how it meshes with the old Vahi.
  13. Not bad. Though I do have to question the choices made with respect to the legs; they don't fit the general appearance in the slightest.
  14. And I'm so very glad of it. Way to make your presence known with a BANG! The flow of color on this thing is beautiful. The shaping is great, and for all the detail, doesn't look cluttered. Excellent job! I hope to see more from you in the future. Because hydrogen, right? XD What a true work of art this is though. I absolutely love it. I never get tired of seeing this MOC. It just executes the concept so well!
  15. I'm not entirely convinced with this one I'm afraid. I think more clean CCBS as opposed to the overabundance of Technic textures would have worked better in her favor. And the face could use a little work, particularly the hair. And the wings are, tbh, a bit meh, even though you were going for a neat concept.
  16. This is grand. His menacing physique and audacious color scheme help set him apart from the mainstream. I quite like the head also. Spectacular job overall!
  17. Finally got around to making a YGO DevPro account and currently trying to perfect my decks. Anyone on here plays?
  18. The legs were a bit tricky to pull off, and tbh I'm not even that huge a fan of how they look. But I was adamant on using one of my previous ideas to build the back of them, so I chose to sacrifice the overall appearance in favor of technique. It also causes minor stability problems, but she's on a stand so...meh. With respect to the exposed part of the lower arms, now that I really couldn't do much about. I opted in for this solution as I felt nothing else quite worked to give the impression of bare upper arms/elbows. Anyway, thanks for your input! Glad you liked it overall!
  19. Welcome to Valhalla, Warrior by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Lux in Tenebris Here stands before you the mightiest of the Valkyrie, the one who watches over the balance between Light and Darkness, the Emissiary of Chaos. Her name is Altheona, the Twilight Valkyrie A noble warrior, versed in the arts of chaos, and capable of unleashing tremendous power to vanquish her foes, and restore the balance between the Light and Darkness when under threat. Twilight Valkyrie - Light Side by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Armed with an arsenal of mystical weapons forged with the very essence of those powers, Altheona is a skillful combatant when the need arises. She can summon the weapons and fluidly transition between their combinations for maximum effect. Her Seraphic Spear and Shield of Virtue are her primary response to the minions of darkness. She can also call upon the shadows to bring forth her Hellforged Mace and Demonic Shield to eliminate transgressors who serve the Light." Twilight Valkyrie - Seraphic Arsenal by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Twilight Valkyrie - Holding her Spear and Chthonian Shield by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Twilight Valkyrie - with her Hellforged Mace and Shield of Virtues by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Twilight Valkyrie - Back by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Twilight Valkyrie - Gear (Clockwise): Hellforged Mace, Chthonian Shield, Seraphic Spear, Shield of Virtues by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr Fourth Wall How overdue is this though! For those of you who have been following me, you will have seen WIP's of this for several months. At some point I was done with it and I figured you guys might want to see it. So without further ado, here's a preview of my most perfect WIP to date: the Twilight Valkyrie! I took a whole lot of (subconscious) inspiration from chaos-themed Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters, such as Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, BLS - Envoy of the Evening Twilight, Tethys, Goddess of Light, and several others. I have always been fascinated with the concept of perfect asymmetry, that splits a being completely between light and darkness, or any other similarly conflicting powers or phenomena. I have attempted several such MOC's in the past, such as Darklight Paladin, and Draxx, Return of the Magnetomenace. I have also created an LDD collab with TheOneVeyronian depicting this concept as a chess game. So there you have it! I hope you guys have enjoyed looking at this MOC, thanks in advance for likes/comments, and Happy Holidays!
  20. I'd actually do it. I think I could figure out a system that enables me to post faster/more efficient reviews. Million dollars but every single transaction you make is made public via your social media accounts and cannot be removed/deleted. If you don't have any, you must make them.
  21. Way to capitalize on that loophole to actually end up with more money! If I can spend the money on possibly extending my own life expectancy to beyond 100 years old, I'd happily take the cash! That way, I can share my discovery with the world and benefit them as well Okay. Million dollars, but you can only spend it in $100K intervals, one year apart. I know it sounds annoying but it's somewhat realistic. Fire away.
